"Maurice!!! I said I'm busy" he angrily said to the person at the end of the line as he stamped his feet on the ground in anger. "foolish man" he cursed beneath his breath as he rushed into the hospital

"Good evening sir" one of the nurses welcomed him with a smile.

"evening Nurse Ada, please where's the.....?" he managed to ask.

"thank God you're here Fred, the doctor wants to see you" Gladys voice interrupted her conversation with the nurse.

"Oh! Good, where is he right now"

The doctor walked into the reception from one of the wards.

"here he comes" Gladys said pointing at his direction.

"you're right on time Mr Fred, meet me in my office"

Gladys held him back "I really need to be on my way home now, my kids would be home already, I'll check tomorrow after dropping them off"

"I'm grateful Gladys, you've really being of help"

"awwww its nothing" she said waving her hand. "she's presently asleep, just tell her I've left when she's awake"she walked to where her car was parked and Fred to the doctor's office.

He got to the doctor's office quite fast

"please have your sit" Dr. gestured

"so Doc. How's my wife's condition, I mean what exactly is wrong with her.

"according to her friend who brought her here, she complained of lightheadedness and dizziness before she collapsed"

"Geeeeez!!" he exclaimed

"its nothing serious, she's been given medications"

"she was fine in the morning" Fred added.
"could she be pregnant?" he asked out of curiosity

"no she's not" doc. Said

Fred who was dissapointed managed to hide whatsoever his countenance was saying.

"so what's the nature of her ailment" he queried

"no ailment really, she's just stressed out and weak"

He sighed in relief. "can I see her now?"

"no you can't, she's still asleep" Doc said to him.

All through his conversation with the doctor, his phone was ringing and messages were coming in, the phone was on silent that it could not interrupt them. He made to check the caller and sender of those messages, to his utmost surprise it was Maurice.

He went after her.

"Amanda give me a chance to complete my sentence"

"no Tom, I'm no fool. If I had known you will hurt me this way, I wouldn't have...."

He caught up with hEr and held her hand pulling her to face him. "I love you, Be my wife" in his right hand was a glass box of silver diamond ring, he had an apologetic look with at the same time was accompanied with a smile.

Speechless was an understatement, she never expected such, she wiped her tears and stretched forth her left hand to him.

"yes yes yes" she screamed in such a way that got the people's attention. "I love you more Tom"

"that my queen finally accept me calls for celebration" he grinned

"yeah let's celebrate, but I can't celebrate behind Gladys' back, she had always wished for this" she dial her number.

"girlfriend, it has happened" she said excitedly "let's meet at the venue where my birthday took place."

"now that my honeypie has chosen the venue for our celebration, shall we?" they walked arm-in-arm to his car. All eyes were on them.

CHAPTER 18

"My bestie of life" Gladys screamed, walking towards her friend who was still at the parking lot.

She laughed on seeing her and they hugged themselves like its been years they saw last.

"what are you doing out here under this scorching sun" Gladys said as they were walking into her office.

"I saw a customer off, he just drove out now and I was going back in when I saw you drove in"

She sat on the couch beside Gladys and they were discussing about random things. Suddenly she felt dizzy and held her forehead with her left hand.

"Amy what's the matter?" Gladys noticed the sudden change in her state of health. "are you sick or something?"

"no I'm fine" she made to stand up but she slumped.

"Amanda!!!" Gladys screamed and summoned one of the workers.

She was a bit unconscious and so they managed to get her into the car and she was driven to the hospital.

....

"I can't just figure out what this guy wants me for". Fred grumbled, not to anybody in particular.
"I don't even know....." his ringing tone interrupted, he need not check the caller before knowing it was his wife, he had assigned a special ringtone to her conTact alone.

"Fred, Amanda has been admitted"

"that voice is definitely not my wife's voice" he became sweaty.

"don't bother about that, your attention is needed here ASAP"

"I'll be there in a jiffy" he said and dropped the call.

She tiptoed from the kitchen to the dinning table where he had dropped his phone after breakfast. She was silent as much she could be to avoid being caught, she knew he would come downstairs for the phone anytime soon. She unlocked the phone, went to the call log, searched for the number by checking the time of call, the number was not registered on the phone. Immediately she saw the number she typed it on her phone and saved it with a name that doesn't exist.

"baby, I dropped my phone at the dinning can you help me get it?" Tom's voice called out from upstairs.

"Y...yes love, I'm on my way" she shouted in response. "gosh! That was so close" she murmured, she was nervous so nervous that she felt his voice was right beside her.

It was a Saturday morning and there was nothing much to be done.

"sweetie let's go out" Tom said as he took the phone from her.

"I was in the kitchen when you called, let me just tidy the sink" she said.

"you sound nervous Amy, anything the matter?" his gaze wasn't fixed on her.

"I'm fine, I'm good" she managed to smile

"alright, I'll be waiting" he pecked her on the cheek.

.....

Moments later they were at the cinema.

"you looked worried since we got here" Amy stared at him as she munched her pop corn.

After some moments of silence, he looked at her "baby you know I love you right?"

She nodded

"anD I will do anything to have you by my side"

"yes I know, we are creating a scene here already" she smacked him

"but with the situation of things...."

She cut him short "what's wrong? You want to break up with me? Right here" her voice was low but shaky. Their conversation have been in low tone.

"I don't know how you will feel about what I'm about to say...."

Amanda who couldn't continue with the conversation ran out.

CHAPTER 17

"Is this not Fred's wife?"Maurice mumbled and pulled over by the roadside to have a clear view of what Amanda was doing.

She was talking to a male customer who had come to get something for his wife.

Amanda was going around in her shop when she noticed a confused young man who by his appearance and stature should be in his mid-thirties, the man had been fumbling with different fabrics for the past 15mins without knowing which one to pick for his wife. Amanda saw this and decided to help him out.

"good day sir" Amanda said, as she walked to his direction with a charming smile.

"yes madam, how may I help you" the young man who was sweating in the air conditioned shop barely looked up from the fabrics he was holding.

"actually Mr. I'm here to help you" the man still didn't spare her a glance, she moved closer to view the fabrics he was holding before helping him out.

He handed it to her "I want to get them for my wife but I don't know if she would like something like this" still looking confused

"is she over or below 30years?" she asked

"she will be 30 in 2weeks and that is why i want to get these materials for her, she would use it"

"come this way sir" she smiled and walked through the sections to an angle in the shop. "is she fair or dark skinned"

"she is in between" now he is becoming relieved

"these, these, these and this would be suitable for her" she said picking some out for him to see.

Satisfaction was boldly written on his face. "I like these, thanks madam"

"If you would like it to a be a full surprise, you can come upstairs with her picture" she said to the man who obviously was fascinated by the beauty of the fabrics.

"of course ma'am" he said to her and they both headed upstairs. There he tendered his wife's picture and the possible measurements were taking down.

"you can drop them and come back in 2hours, it would be ready"

"you mean the dresses would be made?" he was astonished "this is awesome, this is my first Time of patronizing this place, but ma'am for you to know this place so much, you must be a regular here"

Amy smiled "I own this place" he escorted the man out to his car after making some part payments which is to be completed when he comes back" they were both smiling and chatting.

Maurice picked his phone, dialed Fred's number.

"Fredooo" he saluted his friend

"Maurice what's up na" Fred responded in salutation

"guess who I saw" he said all smiles as he knew he was about causing another disaster.

"you know I hate guessing" Fred said in an angry tone

"Today is Friday bah, let's meet at joint by 6pm" Maurice said and hung up. "he needs to give this wife of his the beating of her life" Maurice murmured to himself, laughed and drove off.

he held on to her hand and helped her into the toilet while he left to the bedroom. Amanda couldn't help but wonder what her man was up to.

Tom's phone rang again and this time, he stepped out of the room into the living room to avoid unnecessary interrogative gaze from Amanda.

"I need to get something from the living room" he murmured not sure if Amanda can hear him from the toilet. "I'll be back" he said aloud

There was no response and so he left.


"I had to drop the call because my fiancée is around" Tom said to the person on the phone in a pleading manner.

"listen young lady, that lady you just insulted through me is my fiancée and I love her, forget whatever misconceptions you are having about us" Amanda heard her man converse with the unknown lady on the phone, she kept still and didn't move closer to avoid suspicion.

"Juliet!!!" he shouted at the caller. "don't be a full, that was just a one-night-stand thing"

Amanda's heart skipped, she was broken and didn't bother listening to the remaining conversation before running into the room as fast and silent as she could.

"I can't believe this" she said to herself in almost a whisper.

That was not the end of the issue, she decided to fight for her love and investigate to know who the lady was and what she needed from Tom. She was planning what to do when Tom came in and gave her a kiss on the forehead which she responded to with a smile.

"I need not make him know I heard something" she thought.

"what was that thing you went to pick from the living room that you needed to use in the middle of the night" she asked as she laid down on her bed adjusting to duvet.

Tom was caught unaware "actually I went to check if my laptop was there or in the car" he said avoiding her gaze, he knew he lied to her and he regretted it.

Amanda smiled sarcastically because she knew he lied but decided to play along with him.

But i noticed a certain mistake which was the name of the character that played Maurice's wife. You have given her character about three different names, at first you called her Fiona, later you called her Clara and then you later referred to her as Joy.
Pls make amendment about this so it wouldnt confuse your readers any further. MERCI

CHAPTER 16

"Fiona leaving me just like that seem like a dream to me, not even a chance to communicate" Maurice said to Gideon, a friend of his who supports all he does, they had met at the gym that morning so he decided to come directly to his house on that Saturday morning. He couldn't but feel the impact of her absence in the house.

"this is going to affect your political aspirations" Gideon told him looking straight into his eyes as he sip his sweetner-free coffee.

Gideon a tall, fair and handsome man who is in his late 30s but still single because he hates marriage, not after all he had witnessed in his friend's marriage, he manages 3 of his father's company so he is well to do enough to get married.

Maurice has been aspiring to hold a political post and because of this his evil and monstrous deeds are not known to the public. He made sure he provides every material things she needs but not enough love. Maurice, the first son of his parents became an heartless monster after seeing his father man-handled his mom several times without her complaining and each time he tries to convince his mom into leaving his died, she told him its good for her and his father had told him beating his wife would let her be smart to do all she wants to do.

"But why did you maltreat her to that extent, Fiona is an easy going woman. And from what I learnt you made her miscarry thrice"

"listen Gideon, beating a woman is not a big deal, my dad did it and my mother doesn't complain. And he told me it shows how much you care for that lady"

Later that day Gideon left after he realized nothing he had said that afternoon went well with him.

It was time for resumption, Amanda took the kids out so that they could shop for the needed things. The kids had decided to come spend a week with their parents to see the situation of things for themselves and fortunately they were pleased with them. They had several family outings and picnics within that one week, their sweet home was finally back.

"Mommy, I want a little sister" Bennett's words struck her, he said bluntly to his mother as he walked through a section in the mall where they can buy things for girls below his age.

His mother only smiled at him and said very soon. Those words soothed whatever he had on his mind.

"can you and dad continue this way?" her daughter said, after a long silence as they walked around the mall picking the needed things. Amanda was dumbfounded, what response should she give her daughter. She knew what the girl was talking about. "let's talk about that at home darl" she said patting her back.

She headed to her shop after the shopping, she needed to sort things because for the past a week that her kids have been around she hasn't gotten enough chance to go shop.

He picked his phone to check the number of calls he had missed while he was busy, he met several but 70% of the missed calls belongs to Maurice. He murmured as he tried to call him back.

"Fredoo!! The voice on the other end called out to him.

"Maurice Maurice, how are you? Sorry I missed your calls, I was busy."

"hmm no problem blooder, let's meet at the Bar for 6pm"

"I definitely can't come, my kids needs my presence so let's do that next time"

Maurice hung the call, he was disappointed but there was nothing he could do, he needed someone's company as he was lonely by himself. He wondered when his friend became a good father who wants to spend time with his kids but he waved off the thoughts.

cHAPTER 15

"Mom is right" Amanda said as she tucked herself into the duvet and straight into Fred's arms.

With his arms opened he pulled her to himself "and what is that mama's daughter?"

"I think its high time we gave Bennett a younger sibling, he is old enough you know" with the expression on her face one could tell she was serious with the discussion. "you caused the delay Fred, we would have done that 3years ago but....."

"shhhhhh..." he interrupted her and planted a passionate kiss on her lips.

She moaned and moved her head upward to his to make the kiss go deeper, his hands went under the pink satin v neckline thigh length she wore and grabbed her tit.

"I want you" he whispered in her ear as he worked on it with his tongue.
She nodded in agreement as he took off her night wear, the kissing and smooching became intense.


....

"I love you Amanda" he said to her as the cold water from the shower sent a beautiful sensation to their body.

"I love you more"

"I can go on and on to show you how I love you" his hands were on her waist and they were both standing unclad in the shower. "I want more of this sweet love making" he said to her biting his lower lip giving her a flirty expression. They both went on another two rounds in the shower and later went to bed exhausted and fulfilled. They both slept soundly that they did not only got to their place of work late the following day, they also felt satisfied.

Tom's phone rang at the middle of the night , he stared nervously at Amanda to make sure she was asleep before he went to in to the rest room to respond to call unknown to him that his fiancée was a bit awake.


After her birthday, Amanda developed the habit of sleeping over at his place once in a while, she tried her possible best in putting the issue bothering her mind about him behind her with the thought that even if his mother rejects her, once she sees her son is into her, she would come to terms with giving him back up. But for sometime she had been speculating something was wrong but amidst her feeling suspicious of him he has never changed towards her neither has she caught him in the act. On that fateful night, she had felt uneasy but pretended she was sleeping immediately she heard his phone rang which was very unusual of him. Though she didn't eavesdrop on their conversation, she knew it was short and businesslike. "could that be one of his staffs?" she thought "by this time of the night?" she thought further and headed to the rest room brushing her eyes with her left hand like someone who is sleepy but pressed just to pretend like she sensed nothing. They both collided but Tom held her tight to stop her from falling.

"easy darl!" still holding her and helped her in.
