allycat:Thanks. Put in a word or two if you please. adetunrayo:I'm wondering how frequently they occur and if there are other associated symptoms present. Your age, sex, last menstrual period (if female), past medical record, etc. It could be nothing, or anything from as simple as a sudden change in posture as being the cause, to an ear disease, high blood pressure, stress, etc. |
finebabe:First, I must say that I do hope she is being managed by a Consultant Physician - this would be the ideal for this level of illness. Well done, for looking after your mum in her illness. Concerning the Diabetic Diet, it is generally accepted amongst doctors that the diet a diabetic should take depends on the overall effectiveness of her drug usage (if any) and the total dosage. In other words, it is all about balance. A diabetic's carbohydrate intake could be increased or decreased, depending on whether her drug regimen is increased or decreased. Some diabetics would even require no drugs at all, if a strict , low-carbohydrate diet is adhered to. A strong factor in all of this is the Type of Diabetes (Type 1 or Type 2), and the subjective degree to which the person is diabetic, whatever the Type. Concerning the diet for the condition of Stroke, of course what is most important is the drug usage. However, the diet may well depend on the type of Stroke and whether or not she is Hypertensive, which may not necessarily be the case, or there is presence of abnormally high levels of lipids or cholesterol in the serum. |
zahealer:I must admit I'm a bit at a loss here as to what the problem could be. I'm thinking Intermittent Claudications if indeed the pain is in the muscle bulk, though you said the pain goes to the bone. Intermittent Claudication will arise from sluggish blood-flow within the muscle and could be as a result of a vascular (arteries and veins) problem. If it were an acute muscle spasm ("muscle pull" , you would have said so because this is quite well known, and increasing Calsium intake in the diet or Calcium suppliments (tablets) would be of help.Whatever the case may be, particularly if the pain goes deep to the bone, I suggest you get a referral to an Orthopaedic Surgeon - don't be alarmed - this specialist handles mild conditions of the musculo-skeletal system that doesn't require bone surgery necessarily. |
kingpins:If the pain you experience is in the anus, it could still be Pile. Another differential diagnosis is Anal Fissure - this is a split in the anal lining usually resulting from over-stretch from a hard stool. The resultant wound would bleed as it re-opens during another painful stretch of difficult stools. A doctor would need to examine you to decide what actually the diagnosis is. |
yeddy99:@yeddy99 None that I know of. The body however, already does this with insulin produced in the pancreas. Everyone, hours after a carbohydrate meal, will have their blood sugar shoot up - this is normal physiology. Insulin then drives the sugar from the blood-stream into all living cells where they are needed - especially the brain cells and muscle cells. They need glucose to operate efficiently. When the physiology described above is lacking due to poor insulin production/functionality, Diabetes Mellitus results. Note, therefore, that Diabetes doesn't result from excess sugar intake. Excess sugar intake simply results in Obesity which testifies to good insulin action as this insulin continuosly does its job: driving-in sugar into the cells from the blood stream and thus averaging down the blood sugar to normal. kingpins:Some asked this question recently. "Pile" is cured by prescribed drugs. Sometimes. in bad cases, through surgical operation. I must point out that Pile isn't caused by sugar intake as such. Except perhaps in few individuals who claim to develop straining on defaecation resulting, indirectly, from sugar intake. Never assume "backache" is synonymous to Pile. "Pile" or "Haemorrhoids" is distended, engorged veins located at the inner-lining of the rectum, which may then hang downwards. Think of varicose veins of the lower limbs, seen occassionally in pregnancy. Remember, the veins always have their blood-flow in the direction towards the Heart - in the case of the rectal lining and the lower limbs, this would be in the upward direction, agains the action of gravity - this is the physics that leads to Pile and this is why it is called "Pile" - as in "piling" up of pressure at the bottom of a flow all the way up a steep gradient. Straining while stooling, is an example of how this downward pressure in the veinous blood-flow can occur and trigger-off Pile. Hope this makes "Pile" more understandable. |
Olami099:Get this prescription: Capsules TETRACYCLINE 500mg every 6 hours for 10 days |
@kathyekiti Hi. I got your PM. Let you on later. Been ages! |
Angee4real:I'm glad you did as your doctor suggested. I've read through the scan results and nothing abnormal was found. Now go ahead and see your doctor; only he knows your total picture. However take not of this: 1) You ask if you will be able to conceive. My answer is, yes, very likely, as is the case with most women without any medical problem found. 2) A normal scan finding doeasn't necessarily mean there is no abnormality. It means that within the limitations of the ability of "scan" to show-up certain details, nothing abnormal showed up. A normal pelvic scan will not, for example, show blockage of the fallopian tubes, and so on. The physics behind a scan cannot show all things. 3) Therefore, it is your doctor, who has clerked you, that knows much mor than just one investigation such as "scan" can reveal. 4) So, go ahead with your doctor and never make conclusions yourself. Ask him questions. Never assume that a "test" that says "nothing seen" means everything is revealed. |
Adonike:I'm glad to be of help. It sounds like you have Dental Caries - caused by the decaying action of bacteria on the outer enamel of teeth and beyond, in the presence of certain bacteria. Only one thing you can do for a cure - see a Dentist. Do quick before it gets worse. diamond50:Some men have the tendency. Weight gain, however, always plays a significant role in developing Gynaecomastiaover-development of the male breasts. Forget using drugs - I don't know of any - and simply decide to lose weight and stay trim. Think aerobic exercises. |
moskey:I'm sorry but I have the feeling you didn't actually see a doctor. See a doctor. It's the starting point. Not a labroratory scientist, first. |
tonnistop:@tonnistop You'll find @trimandtrendy's thread on this very Health section on Nairaland. The thread is titled "Daily Exercise And Food Routine For Those Who Want To Lose Weight". @Romeo4real's thread I think may also serve you well. It's equally here on this Health section, titled "Certified Fitness Instructor And Nutritionist In The House". |
uteh:@uteh Don't listen to just "anybody" particularly when it concerns your life. HSGs are referred to medically as "invasive" procedures in that they entail introducing agents into the body system. As such, the decision to do such procedures comes after careful consideration by they that have all your data and know the reasons why. |
big spif:Pile is curable indeed. There are oral medications as well as anal inserts (suppositories) that your doctor can prescribe to help achieve a cure. Are your stools sometimes hard after you might have had a bout of constipation? This can aggravate bleeding Pile and so fruits, vegetables and other roughage diet can help to soften stools. Laxative prescriptions too. tonnistop:Well, are you over-eating compared to the much of exercise that you get? Heavy Carbohydrate intake, lack of exercise, "middle-age spread", other extra calory intake - soft-drinks and the like. These all are contributory factors. You need to check @Trimandtrendy's thread for further weight-loss advice. kelvinnile:Sounds like you are simply unfit and out of shape and stamina. By caffeinated energy drinks, I guess you refer to soft-drinks and the like. I'm not sure you can get addicted to Caffeine by taking soft drinks like Coke - too little Caffeine compound in them to result to addiction. You may have been addicted to the love of drinking such drinks, though. |
@Ejadamen I know the difficulties of seeing medical specialists in our environment. Especially for a non-life-threatening condition. Ideally he should see a Consultant Dermatologist - they handle all skin eruptions no matter what part of the body they occur, including Venereal Disease with skin manifestations like Syphylis, for example. He can start again with a general duty doctor, such as myself. They have a broad enough knowledge to handle easily diagnosable conditions that cut-across the different specialties. Not a gnyae, @Eja! ![]() |
@franny1980 You need to go thrash-out these issues with a qualified Gynae, especially if your GP failed to solve matters. |
@yemium Shakiness, or tremors, can be explained ordinarily sometimes as being caused by fatigue in the muscles of the particular limb, after some vigorous muscular activity e.g. changing ones flat tyre, etc. Nutrients like Calcium, required for muscular coordination, are quickly used-up in explosive muscular excersice/activity which then manifests as tremors when activating such muscles lightly, soon after. Having AS Genotype has nothing to do with any cause of tremors, I should say. Disease of the Thyroid gland or the Brain-stem, or Nervous Disorders, has tremors as some of the manifestations. |
@munagi I promise you that if you invest time to both (you and hubby) see a qualified Gynae (and then quickly follow through with all required investigations they recommend), you give yourself and your husband the best chance at having a child. Time, otherwise, keeps going, and time is not a friend to your situation. Ask yourself if you have done the advice, in it's exactness, in the last 4 years. Thoroughness with dealing with the Gynae is key. From my long experience, most sub-fertile couples give-up after part-dealing with the Gynae's management plan. Stay focused and go now. |
@Ejadamen If I'm reading you correctly, you are laying complaints on behalf of another's issue. Apparently this other person has tried antibiotic creams and antifungal creams to no lasting solution. It's challenging to make an e-diagnosis more so for a second-hand reporting of a condition. The best attempt here for a lasting remedy to the other's problem is for him to task his doctor once more with a consultation. |
@yjay Your boils problem is difficult to understand off-hand. Go ahead and do the check with your doctor. You are welcome anytime. |
@mawojuuche Apply a clotrimazole cream such as Canesten, to the itchy areas twice a day after bathing and towel-drying, for up to 6 weeks. The likel diagnosis is Taenia Cruris - a fungal rash. It appears rampant on this thread. @lekanjohn Please go see your doctor to assess your blood-sugar status. Diabetes needs to be ruled-out here. @command 2 If I may on Doc Balogun's behalf. Food suppliments generally should not interfere with ARV drugs. |
@Posters Sorry if it appears there is a delay in responding. It appears that the anti-spam bots on the thread have deleted a bit of the responses and may continue to do so until the problem is hopefully fixed by the Admin. @tope777 I posted that you need an ENT surgeon to look at your problem. Get the referal @barakah I had said that your matter is clearer now to me and that you should get your doc to prescribe other anti-hypertensives with less significant side effects. See how your SFA will read after 3 months on the new prescriptions. |
@nolvera If it isn't a Fungal Vaginitis, it could be Bacterial or it could be Trichomona. Please direct your question to @kathyekiti on the Obst/Gynae thread or see your personal Gynaecologist. |
@barakah Twice, the anti-spam robots have run away with my reply. I think you should get your doctor to prescribe anti-hypertensives with less significant side effects, use for 3 months and then repeat the SFA. @tope777 It's difficult to know from your post what the diagnosis is. However stop treatting yourself with more ear drops. See your physician again and if need be, he will refer you to an Ear, Nose & Throat Specialist. @mawojuuche Likely diagnosis is Taenia Cruris. Apply a Clotrimazole cream e.g Canesten, twice daily to the itchy areas after towel-drying (after your bath), for 6 weeks. |
You are welcome, @netsurf. @bigboyh, Collomack is supposed to help remove warts but from practical experience, it doesn't seem to touch them at all. @barakah, I 'm clearer now about your concerns. I think you should go ahead and get other anti-Hypertensive drugs prescribed by your doctor with less significant side effects. After a period of 3 months or so on the new prescription, you can then do a repeat Seminal Fluid Analysis to see if this would have improved. A Urologist may also be consulted as to other possible reasons for the poor SFA results. I'm not conversant with dietary advice that may boost ones SFA if really any exists. |
@porto5 Sounds like furuncles - they may form pus later. Furunculosis, is "boils" that are not yet "ripe" . If I'm correct, you need a course of anti-biotics. Did you shave recently? But alas! - this is all speculation of course. I can not be sure until I see it! Let your doc take a look. |

@netsurf Erection is involuntary. You can not will it. It responds to positive excitation stimuli of the sight, touch, smell, etc. For polygamous/promiscous males, the fresh excitement of a "new-catch" will keep the pecker up especially as such men "hunt" at their own choosing and timing - what this means is that they choose their own moods and this helps the sexual response. Married, monogamous-type relationships usually loose a bit of the sheen, the novelty, the excitement - talking purely sexual-response, here, and not devotion. 2 - 3 minute "first-round". This is average for most men, forget the boasts. Some men are gifted to last longer, no doubt. A week erection at the "2nd round" is normal in most married men. In fact, most can not even manage a "2nd round", many even having sex as infrequently as once a month or longer truth In the off chance that there might be a medical problem, check with a Urologist |
@porto5 A multitude of Dermatological problems can have the patient say ". . . boils in my privates", so it's difficult to know what the diagnosis can be. Is it on the p e n i s, scrotal sac or the groin area? Are the "boils" thin-walled, tiny, multiple, fluid-filled vesicles?I'd be thinking Herpes Are they with a skin colour-changing rash?Like in Taenia cruris, etc Are they pustular? As in oozing pus |
@stevade Most cases of Fibroid when seen early, can be operated on and then a pregnancy can still very well result. See your Gynae. |
@5p1nan I've replied you on Dr. Balogun's thread @akyus This is common on the sides of the molars and pre-molars. It's the calculi that gets stained over time. Scaling and polishing procedure by a qualified Dentist is your best bet. |
@5p1naz Have your bath as usual, throw on your clothes then go about your usual business - ignore it for a while and don't scratch. Let's do nothing for now and see where this is heading. |
My pleasure, @semid4lyfe - Who shall save our gobbled up posts from the throats of those spam robots?@mawojuuche You probably have Taenia Cruris. Apply a Clotrimazole cream e.g. Canesten, evenly on all the itchy surfaces after having your bath and towel-drying the area, twice daily for 4 - 6 weeks. Health advice: use protection. Brotherly advice: be faithful to God. |
, you would have said so because this is quite well known, and increasing Calsium intake in the diet or Calcium suppliments (tablets) would be of help.
