You are welcome, @netsurf.

@bigboyh, Collomack is supposed to help remove warts but from practical experience, it doesn't seem to touch them at all.

@barakah,

I 'm clearer now about your concerns. I think you should go ahead and get other anti-Hypertensive drugs prescribed by your doctor with less significant side effects. After a period of 3 months or so on the new prescription, you can then do a repeat Seminal Fluid Analysis to see if this would have improved.

A Urologist may also be consulted as to other possible reasons for the poor SFA results. I'm not conversant with dietary advice that may boost ones SFA if really any exists.

@barakah

Twice, the anti-spam robots have run away with my reply. I think you should get your doctor to prescribe anti-hypertensives with less significant side effects, use for 3 months and then repeat the SFA.

@tope777

It's difficult to know from your post what the diagnosis is. However stop treatting yourself with more ear drops. See your physician again and if need be, he will refer you to an Ear, Nose & Throat Specialist.

@mawojuuche

Likely diagnosis is Taenia Cruris. Apply a Clotrimazole cream e.g Canesten, twice daily to the itchy areas after towel-drying (after your bath), for 6 weeks.

@Posters

Sorry if it appears there is a delay in responding. It appears that the anti-spam bots on the thread have deleted a bit of the responses and may continue to do so until the problem is hopefully fixed by the Admin.

@tope777

I posted that you need an ENT surgeon to look at your problem. Get the referal

@barakah

I had said that your matter is clearer now to me and that you should get your doc to prescribe other anti-hypertensives with less significant side effects. See how your SFA will read after 3 months on the new prescriptions.
Re: Doctor in the House: Free Medical Advice Available by surgeon(m): 3:41pm On Aug 15, 2010
@mawojuuche

Apply a clotrimazole cream such as Canesten, to the itchy areas twice a day after bathing and towel-drying, for up to 6 weeks. The likel diagnosis is Taenia Cruris - a fungal rash. It appears rampant on this thread.

@lekanjohn

Please go see your doctor to assess your blood-sugar status. Diabetes needs to be ruled-out here.

@command 2

If I may on Doc Balogun's behalf. Food suppliments generally should not interfere with ARV drugs.

@franny1980

You need to go thrash-out these issues with a qualified Gynae, especially if your GP failed to solve matters.

Pile is curable indeed. There are oral medications as well as anal inserts (suppositories) that your doctor can prescribe to help achieve a cure. Are your stools sometimes hard after you might have had a bout of constipation? This can aggravate bleeding Pile and so fruits, vegetables and other roughage diet can help to soften stools. Laxative prescriptions too.

Well, are you over-eating compared to the much of exercise that you get? Heavy Carbohydrate intake, lack of exercise, "middle-age spread", other extra calory intake - soft-drinks and the like. These all are contributory factors. You need to check @Trimandtrendy's thread for further weight-loss advice.

Sounds like you are simply unfit and out of shape and stamina. By caffeinated energy drinks, I guess you refer to soft-drinks and the like. I'm not sure you can get addicted to Caffeine by taking soft drinks like Coke - too little Caffeine compound in them to result to addiction. You may have been addicted to the love of drinking such drinks, though.

@tonnistop

You'll find @trimandtrendy's thread on this very Health section on Nairaland. The thread is titled "Daily Exercise And Food Routine For Those Who Want To Lose Weight".

@Romeo4real's thread I think may also serve you well. It's equally here on this Health section, titled "Certified Fitness Instructor And Nutritionist In The House".

I'm sorry but I have the feeling you didn't actually see a doctor.

See a doctor. It's the starting point. Not a labroratory scientist, first.

@yeddy99

None that I know of. The body however, already does this with insulin produced in the pancreas. Everyone, hours after a carbohydrate meal, will have their blood sugar shoot up - this is normal physiology. Insulin then drives the sugar from the blood-stream into all living cells where they are needed - especially the brain cells and muscle cells. They need glucose to operate efficiently.

When the physiology described above is lacking due to poor insulin production/functionality, Diabetes Mellitus results. Note, therefore, that Diabetes doesn't result from excess sugar intake. Excess sugar intake simply results in Obesity which testifies to good insulin action as this insulin continuosly does its job: driving-in sugar into the cells from the blood stream and thus averaging down the blood sugar to normal.

Some asked this question recently. "Pile" is cured by prescribed drugs. Sometimes. in bad cases, through surgical operation.

I must point out that Pile isn't caused by sugar intake as such. Except perhaps in few individuals who claim to develop straining on defaecation resulting, indirectly, from sugar intake.

Never assume "backache" is synonymous to Pile. "Pile" or "Haemorrhoids" is distended, engorged veins located at the inner-lining of the rectum, which may then hang downwards. Think of varicose veins of the lower limbs, seen occassionally in pregnancy.

Remember, the veins always have their blood-flow in the direction towards the Heart - in the case of the rectal lining and the lower limbs, this would be in the upward direction, agains the action of gravity - this is the physics that leads to Pile and this is why it is called "Pile" - as in "piling" up of pressure at the bottom of a flow all the way up a steep gradient. Straining while stooling, is an example of how this downward pressure in the veinous blood-flow can occur and trigger-off Pile. Hope this makes "Pile" more understandable.

If the pain you experience is in the anus, it could still be Pile. Another differential diagnosis is Anal Fissure - this is a split in the anal lining usually resulting from over-stretch from a hard stool. The resultant wound would bleed as it re-opens during another painful stretch of difficult stools.

A doctor would need to examine you to decide what actually the diagnosis is.
Re: Doctor in the House: Free Medical Advice Available by kingpins(m): 11:30am On Aug 30, 2010
Thanx again doc. You are making it clear to me now. Exactly my thought 'anal fissure' because it fills like a wound. But i dont experience it anymore, except the long waiting witout feaces. Some say i dont take enough water. But anytime i take oily fish it helps me empty my bowels.

finebabe:

Doctor in the house: Please i need a strict diet for my mum who is a diabetic/stroke patient.

Thanks in advance.

First, I must say that I do hope she is being managed by a Consultant Physician - this would be the ideal for this level of illness. Well done, for looking after your mum in her illness.

Concerning the Diabetic Diet, it is generally accepted amongst doctors that the diet a diabetic should take depends on the overall effectiveness of her drug usage (if any) and the total dosage. In other words, it is all about balance. A diabetic's carbohydrate intake could be increased or decreased, depending on whether her drug regimen is increased or decreased. Some diabetics would even require no drugs at all, if a strict , low-carbohydrate diet is adhered to.

A strong factor in all of this is the Type of Diabetes (Type 1 or Type 2), and the subjective degree to which the person is diabetic, whatever the Type.

Concerning the diet for the condition of Stroke, of course what is most important is the drug usage. However, the diet may well depend on the type of Stroke and whether or not she is Hypertensive, which may not necessarily be the case, or there is presence of abnormally high levels of lipids or cholesterol in the serum.
