Travel / Re: U.S. Non-immigrant Visas: We’re Listening by sutton09: 7:53am On Jun 29, 2018
We humbly request for expedited visa appointments for 5 members of the Nigeria Team competing in the 2018 Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship for students to be held July 27 - August 1 2018 in Orlando, Florida, USA. The scheduled date of appointments is in October which would make it impossible for Nigeria to be effectively represented at the World championship.

Our yearly challenge is that we cannot apply for the US Visa early each year because we do not know which student will qualify for the final leg in the US till the national competition is held in June. As is the case almost every year, the earliest visa appointment date we have is after the end of the world championship.

Our students have excelled in earlier editions of the championship and the team has always returned to Nigeria. Please see below Nigeria's track record at previous championships

Los Angeles 2014 - 2nd in Word 2007
Dallas 2015 - 10th in Excel 2010
Orlando 2016 - 10th in PowerPoint 2016
Los Angeles 2017 - 3rd in Word 2016

The objective of this national competition is to encourage our schools to include the acquisition of basic computer skills required by businesses in their curriculum. This would improve the quality of our graduates and improve their chances of getting employed after school. The 2018 Microsoft Competition was keenly contested by about 3,000 students from 25 secondary schools in Ogun, Lagos, Rivers, Kwara, Oyo, Ondo States and the FCT.

This year, 6 national winners in Word, Excel and PowerPoint, 1 national winner in Adobe and 2 teachers are representing Nigeria in the World Championship. It would be so disappointing for these children if after working hard for 7 months to emerge national winners, they cannot get visas to participate in the world championship. This would deal a mighty blow to the growth of the competition in Nigeria. Zenith Bank PLC, the sponsor of this national competition has already provided economy return tickets to the team.

We applied for emergency appointment but received an email stating our request has been denied. We have submitted a letter of request to the consular section and received an email acknowledging receipt of our letter. They asked us to request an emergency appointment which we already did and were denied.

We would really appreciate your assistance in this matter.

What are the opportunities for a Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) 2?

4. You can assist university students produce their projects for a fee

5. Accountants that assist small businesses produce their monthly accounts, cash-flow statements, budget projections on a freelance basis.

What are the opportunities for a Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS)?

1. You will stand out when applying for jobs. Almost all companies in every industry use the programs in their day to day business. They use Microsoft Word to write every letter and report; Microsoft Excel for calculating their projections, budgets, analysing data and even some use the program to prepare their accounts; Microsoft PowerPoint for preparing their presentations.

2. Every professional office (Law, Estate Agent, Accountant etc) need certified MOS persons

3. As a certified MOS personnel, you can apply for jobs anywhere in the world where MOS certificate is required. MOS certification is globally recognised. There are websites like www.elance.com that offers freelance jobs anywhere in the world. Almost all companies use Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint to complete their daily tasks. Knowledge and certification in any of these programs would place you above the crowd.

Even in some offices today, most workers rely on one Microsoft expert in their office or their IT dept to complete basic Microsoft tasks. Their work suffers until they receive help from these people.

A good knowledge of Microsoft Office would make you invaluable to most businesses

Are You Smarter than The National Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Student Champions?

"Where is Bayo this morning? Mr Okeke will soon ask for this Excel report. What will I tell him today again? Yesterday, I made excuses to delay turning it in. I really need Bayo's help to finish this report. I do not know how to use these Excel formulas."

"Adunni, are you competing in the 2016 Microsoft Office Competition for students?" "Yes, I am! This year, I passed with a score of 894 over 1,000 but I did not qualify for the 2015 World Championship. But I have my International MOS certificate in Microsoft Word 2013 and I used the certificate to apply for an internship this holiday. The manager was so impressed with my Word skills that he asked me to resume on Monday. He told me that he interviewed some unemployed graduates last month and did not find any with practical Microsoft skills. Some stated that they had Microsoft Office skills on their CV but could not even produce a report on Microsoft Word "

"But do you know four students from Holy Child College, Lagos, British International School, Lagos, Aduvie International school, Abuja and The Childville College, Lagos represented Nigeria at the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) World Championship this month in Dallas, USA? I heard the 2016 championship would be held in Disneyland, Florida, USA. I plan to study hard and qualify for the 2016 World Championship"

"I also heard that there is a Microsoft Office Specialist Challenge going on now. ReadManna, the organizers of the MOS World championship in Nigeria are challenging anyone (no age limit) who can use Word, Excel and PowerPoint to take a certification exam in any of these programs between now and 30th November 2015 in participating Certiport exam centres. Participants are required to register their scores for the challenge. And at the end of the competition, the best scorers would compete against the National MOS student champions! We are going to show our parents how to use Microsoft Office programs! I cannot believe this! I will be able to compete against my dad. This is payback time!"
"I must study hard for the 2016 MOS world championship and go to Disneyland next August for the world championship. Then, also compete against my dad next year."

"Bayo, where have you been? I have been looking for you to help me with this Excel sheet before Mr Okeke returns to the office. Meanwhile, come and see what I am reading in this newspaper. Can you imagine? I just read that there is a Microsoft Office Challenge going on, challenging workers to compete against secondary school students in Microsoft Office. ReadManna, a company that organizes Microsoft Office championship in the country is challenging workers to get certified in any Microsoft Office program, register their scores for the challenge. The best scorers would compete against secondary school students! Secondary school students! Here I am struggling with the program! My niece, Adesuwa must not hear of this. She will not let me hear the last of this!"

Yes, you are right!

ReadManna is challenging workers to an Industry versus Students Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) competition! Take a certification exam in any participating Certiport exam centre in any of the following programmes – Word 2010, Word 2013, Excel 2010, Excel 2013, PowerPoint 2010, PowerPoint 2013. No Age Limit. Even unemployed persons can compete. The adult participant that has the highest score and beats the National MOS Student Champion wins a FREE economy return ticket to London! Other participants that beat the their student competitiors will receive N100,000 each

Companies invest heavily in computers and software but are not maximizing their investment because of low level of staff proficiency in basic Microsoft Office programs. We humbly request for expedited visa appointments for 5 members of the Nigeria Team competing in the Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship for students to be held August 9th -12th 2015 in Dallas, TX. The scheduled date of appointment is 10th August 2015 which would make it impossible for Nigeria to be effectively represented at the World championship.

Last year, two of our 2014 national winners, Olubunmi Agusto of Day Waterman College, Abeokuta, Ogun State and Adonijah Airede of Regent School, Abuja, FCT represented Nigeria at the 2014 Microsoft Office World Championship held in Anaheim, California, USA. Olubunmi emerged second in Microsoft Word 2007 category at the World Championship and she has become the first African to emerge among the top three since the first edition of the competition 13 years ago.

This year, 6 national winners and 2 teachers are representing Nigeria and it would be so disappointing for these children if after working hard for 7 months to emerge national winners, they cannot get visas to participate in the world championship. Delta Air Lines has offered free economy return tickets to the team.

We applied for emergency appointment but received an email on the 10th of July stating our request has been denied. We have submitted a letter of request to the consular section and received an email today acknowledging receipt of our letter. They asked us to request an emergency appointment which we already did and were denied.

Please note that we can only book visa appointments when winners emerge at the end of the competition. We also had to renew expired international passports before applying for visas.

We would really appreciate your assistance in this matter.

Religion / Re: What Do You Think About Eternity? by sutton09: 6:52pm On Aug 04, 2012
We do not know how we came into the world. We were taught everything from childhood. This world is like a treasure island where men make discoveries every day. Observe nature and see the beauty God created. See the seas, the trees, numerous creatures dwelling in it. We are on a stage being watched. We will give account of how we spent our time on earth. God is a God of mercy and compassion otherwise all those that blaspheme would have been consumed by fire immediately. Hell was made for the devil and not man. But the devil wants to take many men there. Why? Even as humans, we can hurt a father by hurting his children. The devil seeks to destroy men to get back at God. The devil knows how much God loves you and getting you on his side would hurt God.

The bible says Jesus died to reconcile man with God (2 Corinthians 5:18). You would ask when did we become enstranged from God? From birth! Man is by nature sinful and wicked that is why we see so many destructions and evil caused by men around us.

Jesus declared in John 14: 6 " I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me"

The only way we can know if He is telling the truth is when we die! Is it worth the risk?

Lastly they believe that heaven is meant for only 144000 people, meaning we are all damed!

Even the Jehovah witnesses are damned because they are more than 144,000! No hope!

Hell is real! you can only dispute this after you die. The fact that you do not see electricity does not prevent you from using it.
If you need to see hell before you believe it, good luck. The bible is very clear about it. There are 32 references in the bible about hell. see Isaiah 31:15; Matthew 10:28; Deuteronomy 32:22, Psalms 9:17; Psalm 55:15, Psalm 139:8; Matthew 5:30; 2 Peter 2:4, 2 Thessalonians 1:7 - 10 etc. And over 500 references about fire.

People have dreamt of it. People near death have testified of it. You need to die to verify its existence. Do not take chances with your eternal destination. What frightens me most about what the bible says about hell is people do not leave it. There is no time frame. It is endless pain and anguish for those that end up there. Revelations 20:10; Mark 9: 42-48

Please go to a church where the King James Version is taught and ALLOWED to be discussed freely. JW have their own bible. They do not read other bibles. God bless you.

God is a person and Spirit. God expresses self through creation. If you take time to examine creation, the earth, vegetation, animals, weather etc, you will see the orderliness than can only be ordered by a person. Take a leaf, examine the veins, take a human being, examine yourself, your body and its functions. Have you ever said thank you for your two legs that take you everywhere? the hands you use to scoop water, to write? your eyes? your ears? There is a God behind all these things. Science is the discovery of what God has created.

He loves you. Nobody is a mistake. He created you for a purpose, to be part of a greater purpose that you cannot imagine. He seeks your friendship, a relationship to guide you through your stay on earth. There is no way you can understand the bible without His revelation. You may use the bible as punching lines to make your point. There are mere words until you have divine revelation. That is why, people refer to it as the living bible.

When you talk about denominations, baptists, catholics, pentecostals etc, you are talking about how humans have interpreted the bible. It is amazing how people rely on others to translate the bible to them. You can read english. God allowed you to be educated, why can't you prayerfully read the bible and ask your creator that brought you into this world to explain things to you? facts of the case, you do not know how you came into this world (yes, there are theories) and you do not know when you would leave and where you are going? Other humans like you have decided to interpret the bible and you put your destiny in their hands? When you leave this earth, you may wonder why you did not read it for yourself?

Hell is real. Some may joke about it but it does not make it unreal. The fact that you will argue the bible is not real or hell is not real will not change what God has ordained. You, a mere statistic wanting to change what God has ordained? Our God is merciful.  If you leave this earth without thinking of it, the risk is great. There is only one way to know if hell is real and that is when you die and it would be too late. If you consider all the bible says about hell and give yourself a 50% person chance of it being true, you are taking an enormous risk you won't even take in a normal business decision.

God is a person and seeks a relationship with you. He did not bring you here to abandon you. He hears you. He knows how many hairs are on your head. Just ask Him today for direction in this life. " Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him and he with Me " Revelations 3:20

If you do not know the church to attend, ask God to direct you and not humans that are searching too. God loves you and he wants you to talk to him all the time. May God direct you as you seek him in the Name of Jesus, Amen.
