A 25-year-old man was on Monday arrested at Somolu, Lagos State after he was allegedly caught having sex with his two-year-old cousin. The suspect, David Nnebong, lived with the victim’s grandmother at 18 Awoseyin Street, Somolu. It was learnt that the incident occurred at about 3pm when the toddler was left in the house with the suspect by her grandmother, known as Iya Wura. The mother of the girl was said to be in Calabar. PUNCH Metro learnt that on her return, the little girl who was crying while greeting her grandmother pointed to her vagina. A neighbour, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said it was the girl’s cries that made her grandmother suspicious. He said, “It was the child who actually made Iya Wura know that David had raped her. The grandmother raised the alarm and all the neighbours pounced on David. “Although she was upset with David, Iya Wura and other relatives, who were present, did not want to get him arrested. “They only wanted him to leave the house and relocate elsewhere, but neighbours insisted on involving the police. At the time David was taken to Alade Police Division, there was still semen on the child.” As of Tuesday evening, the relatives of the victim were yet to report to the police station to write statements although Nneobong was said to still be in police custody. Punch Metro learnt that the relatives were still insisting that they did not want police to be involved in the issue. Source: The Punch I really can't stop wondering what features that innocent child has dat attracted that idiot or even aroused him, ehn.....no frontside, backside nko?.... nah. Oga oooo. What do they really get from raping these innocent children? No pleasure, i think........so what?

Did u read the e-mail about d duo (Doris and Daniel)'s marriage posted yesterday? In case u didn't, check it out in Stella Dimokokorkus's blog, I guess u'd understand d role JMK played from there. cutietreasure: I don't believe in this story. Its all cooked up so as to watch stella's back. Doris came out some yrs ago accusing stella of dating her husband then and they both denied it tthat they were business partner, so who the heal is faceless jmk?. |
I looked in the junkmail of my PRIVATE EMAIL this morning and lo and behold there was a copy of that supposed expose email on Doris and Daniel's Marriage! The sender stated they did not know me but wanted to clear the air,BUT how did they get my private email except we had mailed each other on it before? I have just concluded that the supposed JMK does not exist.!!! I have never publicly displayed my private email address before except the one displayed on this blog, so where on earth did this nameless person get all my email addresses? Let me also state here now that Stella Damasus and I havent been in contact for many years until when all this drama began last year and she denied having anything to do with Daniel when I asked her. Daniel is the one who is my friend and he knows my stand on his relationship with Stella,I even remember begging him to give Doris another chance no matter what had happened. I want to believe that JMK is Daniel and I want to believe the details he revealed in that email cannot be known by anyone else....JMK does not exist and this person has even sent me a second email telling me that Stella is not responsible for the marriage breakup and that the people commenting are missing the point.... I did send Daniel a mail imploring him to clear the air but I never for once thought he would go this far to rubbish the mother of his child....This is so wrong and I am afraid I might have to resurrect my 'famous memo' which I had rested briefly....No one deserves to be rubbished this way. Daniel Ademinokan and Stella Damasus you both give me no choice but to do you a memo and I will do so at the end of today because I am busy right now. This is culled from Stella Dimokokorkus's blog..... |
Hello, I have stood by in the last couple of days to see this drama about Stella Damasus and Daniel Ademinokan unfold. I have read countless blogs, reviews and comments from all over the world and I have come to the conclusion that people have no clue what they are talking about. I LIVED WITH DANIEL AND DORIS FOR ABOUT 4 YEARS SO I CAN TELL YOU FACTS! Not hear say or assumptions. I will even mention names that can be verified. Let us not be distracted by this stunt that uncle Daniel just pulled with the party and the gift. Let us focus on the root of this matter. When we know the foundation, we will know how to direct our anger and "insults". I lived with Daniel & Doris because my sister was close friends with aunty Doris and at that time I needed accommodation in Lagos because my parents were based in the south south part of Nigeria. I lived with them when they were still on Salami Street in Mende, Maryland, Lagos and even when they moved to their Idowu Akindele Crescent residence in Magodo GRA, Lagos. Daniel was a good man and the perfect husband to Doris and he made her feel special in every way. He always spoke to her nicely and was quick to defend her in many ways. He supported her career and was determined to make Doris rise to the top above her colleagues. He used to say that a lot and felt she deserved to be at the top. He would always say, "Dem Toyin, Funke, Dayo and co no fine pass you. Dem nor act pass you. I have to position you at the top". He did everything in his power to put her her there. Daniel cannot come and boast to people, especially me that he single handedly financed all of Doris' films. HE CAN'T. He was responsible for getting the finances but it was not HIS money entirely that did films like ONITEMI and OMO IYA KAN. The marketer named EPSALUM financed these films. I know that Daniel may have added about 10%-20% of his cash at some point but it was almost insignificant. The only film he did with his money for her 100% was the film ASIRI. So if he ever claims he did those films for her....quote me or ask EPSALUM. Doris was a good wife in her own right. She supported her husband's passion to change the industry. She encouraged him into making Yoruba films which he really didn't want to get into. She enjoyed the fact that out of most of her colleagues, she was the one that had a STEADY home with a young and successful guy...ambitious man too. She was the minister of finance. That's what Daniel used to call her in the house because he always gave her all the money to handle. He would bring money home an hand it ALL over to her because she was efficient in money management, unlike him who was a free giver and really had no respect or regard for money! Whether he had enough or not, he never did care so much about cash. NEVER! For the 4 years that I lived with them, not for ONE day did I ever hear them raise their voices at each other in arguments or quarrels. You would see them come out of their bedroom sometimes with weird expressions and we would all know they just fought but you would NEVER hear Daniel raise his voice. NEVER! One thing that the world never know was how much both families NEVER wanted them to get married. Doris' parents didn't like Daniel and Daniel's mother (in particular) never liked Doris. She was against the relationship from the beginning. She is known to be a heavy prayer warrior and she said God was against the marriage from scratch but Daniel never listened to his mother. Now, the HORRIBLE thing about Daniel is his stubbornness and hard headed nature. He never listens to people and if he believes in something, it would take a manifestation of the 10 plagues in Egypt to change his mind. He is an extremely stubborn and very determined person. Which was one thing I hated about him. Yes he is nice, loving to his family and friends but do not think for a minute that you can convince him easily to change his mind when he has already formed an opinion or decided on what he wants to do. He went on with the marriage. His family believed that Doris trapped him with the baby but that is a big lie. I have always disagreed with his mother on that note: I respect the woman but Doris DID NOT trap Daniel with a baby. They were already living together for 3 years before David was born. So the woman should get her facts straight. Her son (I believe) wanted the child as much as Doris did. I think along the line Uncle Daniel started to realize that in many ways he and Aunty Doris were different. Much different than he had thought. I believe Doris started to relax on several things because she felt she had her husband and he was going nowhere. He was always very expressive about his love, she was the opposite. He would run around the house and want to play love games with her but she thought that was a waste of time and energy. I personally experienced that with them on several occasions. I guess Doris was more concerned about how people perceived the relationship on the outside and not how sweet it really was on the inside. She always wanted pictures of them out there. Daniel was more concerned about making his marrige very "Oyinbo-ish" because that's who he has always been. At some point I started to feel that Daniel started getting tired of her excuses about being expressive with her feelings even in the house. I think it suddenly dawned on him that they were from two different worlds. Their command of English was too far apart, their ideologies were different, approach to situations, educational background, family, upbringing, etc. I believe she just stopped being his wife and turned herself into a MAMA in the house. I remember him buying her all sorts of short clothes and sexy outfits from the US. I thought they were too daring but he didn't mind. The marriage meltdown goes as far back as 2009. I know that I heard them talking in hush tones a few times about how sex was a problem in the marriage. I know for a fact that Daniel used to joke about it around the house but you could see he was serious in those jokes. He was always clowning about how he had to fill forms like an embassy to have sex with his wife. I know at some point it was so bad that for almost 6 months they didn't do anything. One thing I can tell you for a fact is that in the course of their marriage, Daniel never cheated on Doris. This was a known fact and EVERYONE knew how crazy he was about his wife but really....is lack of sex enough to ruin a marriage? Some people Daniel confided in where his bosom friend ALEX EFFIONG who was there when Daniel and Doris hooked up originally. I know I overheard Daniel and Alex talking about it in the editing studio at the BQ in Magodo. Two other people I know for a fact that Daniel confided in when he was in America where his friends BUKKY EBUN of Nollywood View and 'LAMIDE DAVIES TALABI. You can ask them because they are on Facebook. These two people will tell you the whole story and how they tried to step in to advice. Even Bukky came to the house in Magodo at some point when she visited Nigeria. She came with KAHA the singer. That's how I found out. He was desperate to save his marriage that's why he took drastic steps to talk to people. I blame Doris in some ways because she just relaxed, trusted that everything was OK and that her marriage was going to last forever. In marriage, you gotta keep working to make it good. What annoyed Daniel the most was when he found out his wife had a shop that he didn't even know about. He found out from outsiders and when he confronted her, she said she was trying to surprise him. That really pissed him off! He was enraged! This was when he grabbed his son and left! Daniel was a very, very patient man but I hate the way he did it. He just left! While everyone was celebrating the happy lives these people shared, the marriage was already over!! They were just patching things up! They kept holding on because of "What people would say". Doris also messed up in certain ways because she could not fight to keep her man. She was too comfortable and never imagined that Daniel would get frustrated and leave. Not in this lifetime. I could see it in his eyes everyday that he was just tired of struggling to make it all work. Look for people like ALIU SHORINMADE who was his personal assistant for 5 years. These were the people who knew Daniel very well and how he avoided women like a plague. Let them tell you facts. Let them tell you truths. Stella Damasus did not break up Doris Simeon's home. That home was scattered long before Stella came into the picture. I believe Daniel got the attention that he craved so much at home in someone he considered a friend and sparks flew. When i read that Daniel moved to Abuja and was being taken care of by a woman, I laughed because the people saying this have no idea who Daniel is. He is so arrogant in certain ways that he would rather die of hunger than take a dime from any woman. HE IS THAT KIND OF MAN! He will be too embarrassed to take a dime from any woman. The dude is a workaholic....I give that to him. Films, Fashion, Documentaries, Writing, Photography, Music, Publishing, Visual Effects, name it! He is a master at them all. There is so much I know and if all these names I mentioned here deny anything...they are lying! I can open a big can of worms! Look for ALIU and ask him to tell you about the girl BLESSING that DORIS brought into their house that stayed for almost 3 years. Daniel sent her away from the house over 4 times and Doris kept bringing her back. Why? Nobody knows! Can never be explained! He NEVER WANTED THE GIRL IN THE HOUSE but she kept bringing her back. We know that at some point Daniel discovered that this girl was sexually abusing Daniel's son DAVID! WHAT DID DORIS DO ABOUT IT ![]() If all the parties involved think I am lying, let them confront me! Let them deny it! Daniel cannot deny it! Doris cannot Deny it! Aliu cannot deny it! They know the truth!! There is a girl called SUNMISOLA that used to visit the house some weekends then. She was close to Doris...find out and ASK HER TOO! All I can say is that Daniel and Doris deceived EVERYONE for a long time about how good the marriage was even when everything was BITTER and SOUR! So those hating on Stella are really wasting their time because STELLA DAMASUS DID NOT RUIN DORIS' MARRIAGE. Daniel and Doris know what scattered them that led to their divorce in 2011. If any of them claim I'm lying, let them challenge me. I am ... JMK. |
THE Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) will not hesitate to postpone examinations in any of the centres in the northern states, if intelligence reports suggest any threats to safety of the candidates. Registrar and Chief Executive of JAMB, Professor ‘Dibu Ojerinde, made these disclosures in Abuja, on Wednesday, while briefing newsmen on the preparation of the board to conduct a hitch-free examinations. This is just as he disclosed that a total of 1,735,720 candidates are to sit for the 2013 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), which commences on Saturday across the 36 states of the federation, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja and six foreign countries. However, the Computer-Based Test (CBT) component of the UTME, which is a novel introduction, is scheduled to commence from Saturday, May 18 and end on Saturday, June 1. Ojerinde said examination would hold simultaneously in all the designated 378 examination towns in Nigeria and six foreign centres. The foreign centres, according to Ojerinde, are: Accra, Ghana; Buea in Republic of Cameroun; Cotonu in Republic of Benin; London in the United Kingdom; Jeddah in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Johannesburg, in South Africa. He said the board, on its part, had engaged the services of the police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and State Security Service (SSS) for security surveillance and monitoring of the conduct of the examination nationwide, while he assured candidates of safety. According to him, the figure of the 2013 UTME showed an increase of 231,789 applicants, when compared with 2012 figure of 1,503,931, representing an increase of 13.35 per cent. A total of 1,629,102 candidates applied for the Paper- Pencil Test (PPT), 15,008 applied for the Dual-Based Test (DBT), while 91,610 candidates applied for the CBT. The registrar also informed candidates that applied for the CBT to go online and reprint their e-slip, as inevitable amendments had been made on the timetable for the CBT examination. Remarkably, 196 inmates registered for the 2013 UTME from both Kaduna and Lagos prisons, while a total of 145 visually impaired candidates registered for the examination. Ojerinde, who talked tough on the issue examination malpractice, noted that all candidates would be screened through biometric finger-print, as part of the determination of the board to curb the incidence of examination malpractices. He warned candidates against the use of handsets or any communication gadgets in and around the examination venues, adding that anyone found with such would be deemed to have been engaged in examination malpractices. The JAMB boss also warned supervisors and invigilators who indulged in unwholesome activities by encouraging candidates to cheat in the examination halls, stressing that any erring official would be prosecuted in accordance with the law |

A Chinese mother has gone on trial accused of killing a man by squeezing his testicles so hard that he died of shock. The woman was picking up her son from school when she got into a row with a shopkeeper after parking her electric bike in front of his store in the Meilan District of Haikou City, Hainan. The 42-year-old man came out of the shop and told her she could not leave her bike their and the pair reportedly got into a shouting match. A fight ensued with the woman calling her brother and husband to help. But she then reportedly grabbed the man by the testicles and squeezed them so hard that his body went into shock. According to one witness report as she held him in a vice-like grip she shouted: ‘I’ll squeeze it to death, you’ll never have children again.’ The man was pictured lying on the ground being treated by paramedics before being rushed to hospital but nothing could be done to save him. Dr. Irwin Goldstein, urologist and San Diego Sexual Medicine’s director said it was quite plausible that the testicle squeeze had caused the man’s death. He told the Gizmodo website: ‘Yes, the testicles are exquisitely sensitive to touch and there is a huge release of adrenalin when there is excessive force applied to these organs. ‘Testicular pain is referred to the lower abdomen, mesenteric plexus, and causes men to stop abruptly what they are doing, lie on the ground, close their eyes and bend their knees. 'A heart attack could certainly result from severe testicular pain from squeezing.' The woman is facing a murder conviction if found guilty. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2313755/Chinese-mother-accused-killing-shopkeeper-squeezing-testicles-hard-died-shock.html Even though I'm not a guy but i can imagine the pain that guy went through in that short period before he died. Oh, what a way to die. |

Rodrigo Fernando dos Santos had ink injected into whites of eyes Had already had 70 per cent of his body covered tattoos Specialists warn eye tattoos may cause vision damage A Brazilian man claims he ‘cried ink for two days’ after getting his eyeballs tattooed to make them darker. Tattoo artist Rodrigo Fernando dos Santos, 39, of Sao Paulo, decided to go ahead with the bizarre procedure after having already had 70 per cent of his body covered in ink. The work involved a special syringe being used to inject the ink into the whites of his eyes. Scroll down for video Bizarre: Tattoo artist Rodrigo Fernando dos Santos, 39, decided covering his body in ink-work was just not enough – so he got his eyes done too Painful: The whites of the tattoo artist’s eyes are now darker than his pupils The irreversible procedure involved using a syringe to inject ink into the sclera – the protective outer layer – of his eyes, 9News reports. The ink used to inject his eye is believed to be the same used for tattoos on the rest of the body. Eye specialists have advised against the procedure which some warn can cause inflammation and possibly even vision loss, according to 9News. Eye tattooing is believed to be growing in popularity worldwide, with a tattoo artist in Australia claiming to be the first to have had the procedure done. It is part of a trend for more unusual tattoos, with some women even having ‘perfect’ eyebrows and nipples tattooed onto them as a beauty treatment. Tattooing goes back thousands of years, and has been a widespread practice across the globe, from the Pacific islands to northern Europe since ancient times. It is currently enjoying a growth in popularity, with celebrities such as David Beckham setting the trend by having their bodies covered in ink-work. Yolks are high in cholesterol, but a recent study shows that regular consumption of eggs does not affect all general blood cholesterol levels, while another stated that these foods increase the levels of good cholesterol, which results protecting the heart. This may cause confusion, but the medical community show that dietary cholesterol should not be confused with the blood, which is associated with an increased risk of heart attack and stroke. “There are bigger problems in terms of food American diet than cholesterol,” says Drew Ramsey, a professor at Columbia University psychiatrist who studies the links between lifestyle and mental health. “There is evidence to suggest that the first among concerns about food choices must be cholesterol. Everybody agrees with this: diabetes and obesity are caused by excessive consumption of processed foods,” says Ramsey. Here are seven of the most important benefits of eating egg yolks (or whole eggs) Eyes- yolk contains lutein and zeaxanthin, two carotenoids associated with a reduced risk of cataracts and macular degeneration. Heart- regular consumption of eggs (one per day) helps reduce the risk of blood clots and stroke and of stroke production. Brain- yolk, although rich in cholesterol, bring great benefits on overall health, among them being the fact that it contains high levels of choline (vitamin B7), which helps to improve neurological function, reduce inflammation in the body, the stage of brain development in utero (consumed by pregnant women) and the production of serotonin and dopamine, known as the hormone of happiness. Boobs- choline in the yolk helps to prevent breast cancer, according to some studies, especially if regular consumption of eggs began in adolescence. Other studies have established an association between egg consumption and a lower rate of breast cancer, but with an indication: the consumption of up to two eggs per week is associated with a lower risk of breast cancer, while consumption of seven eggs per week contributing to this increased risk. Hair, nails, skin- eggs are rich in sulfur, an essential ingredient for the absorption of B vitamins, useful to a better functioning of the liver, but also for the production of collagen and keratin, which helps maintain healthy skin, nails and hair, giving extra shine . Developing muscles – six grams of protein per egg, along with amino acids contain eggs are a perfect choice to encourage muscle development. Maintaining an optimal weight – several studies have shown that regular consumption of eggs for breakfast helps fight excess weight. People who ate eggs for breakfast for 8 weeks showed a 61% reduction in body mass index (BMI) than those who consumed a seat at this table with the same calorie content. ayobase: The parts that caught my attention!Ayobase, she's so on point especially on "Tattoo" |
Rose Odika is an actress, fashion designer and skin care therapist. In this interview with TAYO GESINDE, the deputy governor of Association of Theatre Arts, Practitioners (ANTP), Oyo State chapter, speaks on her foray into acting, her love fashion and the pains and gains of being an actress. Excerpts: Foray into acting. I started acting when I was in secondary school. Those days, we had French and Drama Clubs. Then, I was in French Club and we used to act drama a lot. My vice principal, Dr (Mrs) Ero called me and said she noticed that I had talent in acting and that I should face it as a career and my father never liked it. He wanted me to study Linguistics or German Language. The fact that I studied Physical Education at Alvan Ikoku College of Education, with our degree affiliated to University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN), did not stop me from acting. Anytime we were on vacation, I would still come and join Drama Club. I was with Dr Bode Sobande’s Odu Team at the University of Ibadan Prince Wemimo later came along and invited me to feature in a movie, Ododo Eye, which brought me into limelight. On fashion design. The fashion aspect came in 20 years after my acting career. I felt there was nothing challenging again. I was already a producer, actress and script writer. So, it was no longer challenging and I was looking for something that would still challenge my talent. So, I went into fashion design five years ago, I did my training at Princess Stitches and later, I did my skin care training. It was easy for me to combine acting, fashion design and skin therapy because I have passion for them all. I am enjoying the fashion aspect, especially when it comes to costuming, putting colours and combining materials together to give me unique attire. In fact, I am finding it interesting. For instance, I will be at the Miami Fashion Week to showcase my designs on April 23, and my fashion label is Rose JB. Fashion industry is one industry that I am yet to explore fully. Definition of style. Style is what suits you at a particular moment. From the little I have learnt, your style can change at any time. If you say you are the type that wears gown all the time, something would always make you wear trouser. So, your style depends on your mindset and at other times, your mood determines your style. If you are happy, you want to fly colours so your mood determines the colour you wear. Beauty regimen. I am like this through the grace of God. I don’t have any special thing that I do but what I know is that for an average woman to be ‘clean,’ there are some certain things she needs to do. In the morning, you must make sure you cleanse your face with a cleanser that suits your face. If your skin does not like anything harsh, don’t go for astringents that are harsh. Clean your face, use normal powder, brush your teeth twice a day; morning and night. Use mouth wash and feminine wash for your private part. Always have a clean shave, wear nice lingerie. Some people are always nice outside but their inside is not usually clean. Make sure you are clean inside and outside. In fact, your night gown should speak more about you than what you wear ordinarily in the day. You must also smell nice when going to bed. Favourite designers. I love Funmi Ajila, H & W shirts, Marks and Spencer and Tommy. I am however, not a designer- freak so, I can wear anything. Favourite colours. Orange and chocolate brown. Favourite perfumes. Hugo Boss. Choice of accessories. I am a very simple person. I love beads and wire works. Accessory I cannot do without. My earrings. That is what determines if I am a female or not. Most expensive item in my wardrobe. My handbags. What I won’t be caught dead wearing. Mini skirt. My hair and nails. I do my nails a lot. I do acrylic on my nails a lot but now I want my nails to rest because it is breaking off. For my hair, I am a weavon person. Opinion on toning. If you are fair, you can tone because of our weather. To maintain your shining look therefore, you need to tone, but if you are black, you have no business toning. Tattoo. I have never done tattoo on my body because as an actress, you have dynamic roles, if you are acting the role of a village girl, you don’t have to have tattoo. One day, I was watching a movie where a village girl who was suffering had tattoo on her neck and we were like, a village girl with a tattoo? If you know what you are doing, you are not supposed to have tattoo as an actress because you can be called upon to play any role. Cosmetic surgery. That is a no go area for me. Those who are doing it are seeing the results, the side effects are higher. We lost an icon because of that. Provocative dressing. I am neutral about that. Variety is the spice of life. There are some men who love that so as ladies, if you are comfortable in it, I have no problem with it. Greatest physical asset. My skin and eyes. Diet or exercise. I diet and I do a lot of exercise by walking within the estate where I live. Special treat. I travel out of the country and spoil myself by doing a lot of shopping. Advice on how to stay young and beautiful. Live a healthy life. Most women drink a lot, when you drink, your skin will break out, and you will look 50 when you are actually 40. A woman who smokes adds 10 years to her age. If your eating habit is bad, you will gain weight and look older than your age. So watch what you eat and eat lots of fruits. Pains and gains of being a celebrity. The gains are more than the pains. There were times I found myself in situations that I knew if I were not a star, I won’t go scot free. When you are on the queue in the bank and you are recognised, they would say madam, step forward. It’s lovely. The negative effect is that when a guy takes you to his mother that this is the girl I want to marry the mother would say “ iyawo aye, this popular woman, you won’t enjoy her o.” That is why most actresses are not married. That is why some of us are divorced. I am a victim of that. Most men cannot cope with a celebrity wife, they get hurt when they go out with their wives and the wives are recognised while they are not. It hurts their egos. The major reason I have not remarried is that most men that I come across want me to drop acting and I cannot. They love you but they cannot cope with your popularity. They can’t take you somewhere secretly, everybody will know you are there and a majority of them are married. It is not easy at my age to find somebody who is not married and they don’t want a popular woman because they don’t want their wives to hear about it. So that is a price to pay for being famous.

A suspected oil pipeline vandal, Komuko Ayekede, says he sells stolen petrol at N48 per litre. The suspect, who was arrested by the Inspector General of Police Special Task Force on Anti-Pipeline Vandalism Unit on Sunday, added that he had numerous customers including filling stations, due to his attractive price. He however pleaded with the police to release him and the other four suspects, Oluwafemi Bamidele, James Awolowo, Eugene Stanley and Kunle Ogushe, in the spirit of Easter. "We thought that on a day like Easter, security operatives would go and rest with their families. Please forgive us at least for the sake of Christ that rose from the dead because of you and me," he said. Narrating how he joined the illegitimate business, Ayekede, 52, said he was involved in sand dredging but joined other vandals when he couldn't make ends meet. He said, "I was engaged in sand dredging. Some years ago when my business was not moving well, my friend, Ebi, advised me to join him in pipeline vandalism. Initially, I said no because I was a hardworking person, but when it dawned on me that this was the only source of living, I joined Ebi. "We were using kegs but because of the level of the water, we introduced the use of sack which contains a larger quantity. The sack can contain as much as 125 litres of fuel or diesel. Normally we move about 270 bags per trip. "When we get to the pipe, we will open it and use our own valve to block it immediately. You then run it through the hose to the water where the bags and my boys are waiting. On how they sell the products, Ayekede said there were always buyers at Apapa to collect the product at N6000 per sack of 125 litres. He said, "Selling the product is not a problem. There are so many of them at Apapa. The main job is to collect the product and successfully cross the river especially through FESTAC canal. This is why we normally work at midnight." Stanley, another suspect, claimed he was an aspiring footballer based in Bayelsa but was pushed to crime because he needed money to bribe scouts who would help him get a good offer in Europe. Another suspect, Bamidele, who claimed to be a university dropout, said he was not part of the vandals but only wanted to patronise them. Friday Ibadin, who is in charge of the Task Force said that at about 12am, on Sunday they got an intelligence report that vandals were at Ijedodo, Ijegun in Iba Local Government Council Development area of Lagos. He said they were arrested around 7th Avenue, FESTAC with 270 bags of 120 litres of petrol. |
o fewer than 19 people escaped death on Easter Monday after three vehicles crashed on the long bridge along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. Eighteen of the people were passengers of a Toyota Highlander Sport Utility Vehicle with number plate, JJJ 721 AU and a truck. A Toyota Yaris marked Lagos BK 907 EPE, also rammed into the parked truck that was meant to evacuate the Highlander which had skidded into a ditch. Our correspondents learnt that the Toyota jeep was coming from Lagos when the truck suddenly rammed into the vehicle which somersaulted and fell into a ditch. A Highway Patrol policeman, who craved anonymity said, "The first accident involved two vehicles, a Toyota jeep and a truck. "The jeep had three occupants, a woman and her two children. The truck had about 15 passengers. Both vehicles were coming from Lagos. The truck was going to Delta but there was no loss of life. "The woman driving the jeep was taking her children back to school when the truck rammed into their vehicle, which immediately somersaulted and fell into a ditch." The tall fair woman, who drove the jeep, declined comment. She said, "I don't want to talk to the press." However, one of her children who declined giving his name said, "We were all in the jeep when the truck hit us and the next thing, we saw ourselves in a ditch." As the men of the Federal Road Safety Corps, policemen and the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Force were busy clearing the road and evacuating the injured victims, the Toyota Yaris rammed into the packed truck that was meant to evacuate the Highlander. Two Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps officials that were standing by the side of the road were hit and their legs might have been broken. Some victims in the truck, the driver of the Yaris and the two TRACE officials were taken to an undisclosed hospital in Lagos. The women and her children were driven away by a relative. A FRSC official, who identified himself as ASP Jonathan told Punch Metro that the accidents were unfortunate and could have been avoided. He said, "The accidents were unfortunate, especially the last one because our vehicle was parked close to the scene and the young man was supposed to know something was wrong. He was on top speed and that was why he could not control the car by the time he came close to the accident scene." The Punch. May God continue to preserve us nd ours oooo |
