I agree with you that no one plans before hand to have a failed marriage. I also agree that no one should be in abusive marriage. I also agree that nobody should be shamed because they decided to leave a marriage that does not work for them. Even trying to stay because of the kids might cause more harm than good.

My point is that single mothers, should be aware of the trend in terms of how most kids from single mother household turns out. If they are aware I think this will prepare them to handle the situation better - not to remain in the marriage but how they go about dealing with their kids. They can employ the help of a respected male figure around to always check up on the children and straighten then out when need be. I know someone that her elder brother is acting like a father towards his nephew and they turned out fine. When they misbehave after scolding them as the mom, she reports them to their uncle (whom the kids cherish and love) and he takes them to the bender if need be. In fact a times the school calls him directly to come deal with some of the issues. I agree that not every single mother is luck to have such people in their lives, those that do should utilize the opportunity, there is no shame in asking for help.

Like I said, I am not shaming them, I just wanted them to be aware and be more caution when dealing with their kids as single mom.

do you believe any Nigerian woman wants a broken home? or wants to have a baby the father may deny or just neglect his duties. I am not blaming the parent that stays I am just putting out fact there. If single mother are aware of this, they can put extra efforts into ensuring that things dont turn out bad.

I remember a widow whose teenage son started acting out and almost engaged the mother physically. She is quite educated and understood what needed to be done. She just ignored him and came to report to the men in the area (of course they are family men and some grown and responsible young single men in the area. Like a total of 5 men). Immediately, we matched with her to her place pulled the boy aside and talked to him in calm but strict voice. We explained to him the implication of his action and let him know that his mom is trying her best under the given circumstance. And that if he continues in his path we will take his mon's side and whatever she request we do to him we won't hesitate to carry out her order.

I later learnt that after we left, he went in and apologise to his mom. Back then every now and then we tend to treat him right on the street. We hail and let him understand that we got his back as long as he acts right. Today he is a successful marine engineer based on Europe and doing extremely well for himself. His mom is so proud of him.

The reason for stating the obvious fact, is that if single mothers are aware of this, they can start seeking out solution early before it becomes late.

AN adopted son identified as Gideon Elias has caused havoc in his family by allegedly killing his father, Elias Nwoke, his two sisters while her mother narrowly escaped.

It was reportedly said he carried out the evil acts in order to inherit a multi-million Naira property in Lagos State.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Fagbile Housing Estate, Isheri Oshun area of Lagos, where Gideon resides with the family.

The suspect, Gideon, was arrested by the Police operatives from the Area M Command, Idimu, for committing so many atrocities including alleged murder, belonging to a secret cult and involvement in sexual harassment of minors at the Catholic Church located in Isheri Oshun area.

Trouble started on 23rd May, 2023, when Gideon confronted his mother, Mrs. Charity Elias, threatened to kill her and the remaining members of the family if she failed to hand over the documents of the family’s property to him as the only male child in the family.

The mother managed to escape and contacted Human Rights Organization, Campaign for Defendant of Human Rights (CDHR) in Isheri Oshun and the matter was reported to the Police at Area M Command, Idimu, for prompt action.

The suspect, Gideon, was then arrested and detained at the Command for interrogation over his alleged conduct. In the course of interrogation, he made startling revelations to the Police.

Gideon reportedly confessed that he actually killed his late father, Elias Nwoke, two sisters; Jennifer and Mariam and had planned to kill his mother, Charity, if she fails to hand him the documents of the family’s property.

He also revealed that he joined a secret cult, known as Blood Suckers in 2013, which aided him to kill his father and two sisters through diabolical powers.

During investigation, the Police also discovered that Gideon has been involved in sexual harassment of minors in the area including St. Timothy and Titus Catholic Church, Isheri Oshun, which led to his expulsion from the Church by the Parish Priest.

After rounds of interrogation, the Police found him culpable and subsequently charged him before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.

However, the Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned following a motion moved by the Prosecutor, Supol Benedict Aigbokhan, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice.

Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.K Ariyo, ordered his remand in custody at the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the outcome of the DPP advice.

The Court also directed the Prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.

The matter was adjourned till 3rd October, 2023, for the report of the DPP’s advice to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.

The issue now is the fate of three other females and the aged mother, Mrs. Charity Elias, who adopted Gideon with her late husband, Nwoke, because they had no male child.

Following the recent revelations, people are now wondering what will likely happen to the remaining three members of the family, who are female children, alongside their traumatized aged mother if Gideon is allowed to come back to the family if the Court frees him eventually
