CraigB: Quote: "Statistically, almost all Nigerians are dirt poor. A very few are stinking rich. Again, a manageable problem in itself, but the rich haven’t finished yet. Indeed, they’re only just getting started. I spoke to a couple of Angolans in a seminar once, and they said that although their ruling classes had enriched themselves immeasurably, they were at least spending some money on the country, and improvements were noticeable"

We've been saying!

Small people continue on their path of smallness. We are talking about nations that generate excess electricity. But the small people want to talk about a pipeline. They know nothing about excess and abundance. They are lean in spirit. Lean in vision. Lean in selflessness and therefore, lean in physical things like electricity. No surprising. No one ever led them towards the light. They live in darkness, literally and figuratively.
So God love SA and Ghana he blessed both countries with visionary leaders who work for their countries and people and condemn Ghana neighbour [N] to leave in darkness forever Amen

even zimbabwe will invade SA. your comrades have attested to it. grin

chris365:

you just sounded like a drunk dude that was kicked out of a bar i was at after work yesterday. was it not a rag tag bandits that kicked your military out of CAR never to return? if terrorism was easily dealt with, why didn't British military just snap their fingers for IRA to disappear instead of fighting them for about 20 years huh?

why is US packing their bags to run out of Afghanistan like they did in Iraq since all the equipment they are using to fight Taliban is enough to destroy SA in 2 days?

Russia is still fighting chechen rebels after decades but still remain the second best military in the world. what the f*ck do you even know about fighting terrorism? why couldn't SADF snap their fingers for mandela's terrorists to just disappear instead of negotiating to handover the country to the ANC terrorist group. grin grin

Boko haram came with tactics which Nigerian military was new to(counter terrorism). just in 2 years, the military has adapted, killed almost all their leaders, reduced suicide attacks to once in a blue moon, located and destroyed all their training facilities and now many of them have fled to cameroon (oh i pity cameroonpride when they'll turn their frustration on them grin) and you call that lack of intelligence?

you should stay away from drinking alcohol cos you already have the brain of a drunk grin
fact remain your army has been exposed to be weak just strong on paper second SANDF was not kicked out of CAR it was a cabinet decision which decided for the army to pull out thirdly SANDF did not went to CAR to fight any terrorist org but to train the army of that Republic I hope I have enlighted your brain after all I forget you live in darkness like bart and you sound so high maybe you inhaled so much diesel fumes so you are not thinking straight or you just taken your dog meal that's why you bark endlessy well I forgive you

The Cradle of Humankind is a World Heritage Site first named by UNESCO in 1999, about 50 kilometres northwest of Johannesburg, South Africa in the Gauteng province. This site currently occupies 47,000 hectares (180 sq mi);[1] it contains a complex of limestone caves, including the Sterkfontein Caves, where the 2.3-million year-old fossil Australopithecus africanus (nicknamed "Mrs. Ples"wink was found in 1947 by Dr. Robert Broom and John T. Robinson. The find helped corroborate the 1924 discovery of the juvenile Australopithecus africanus skull, "Taung Child", by Raymond Dart, at Taung in the North West Province of South Africa, where excavations still continue.

The name Cradle of Humankind reflects the fact that the site has produced a large number, as well as some of the oldest, hominin fossils ever found, some dating back as far as 3.5 million years ago.[2] Sterkfontein alone has produced more than a third of early hominid fossils ever found.[3]

History of discoveries
Australopithecus africanus (Hominid Reconstruction).

In 1935 Robert Broom found the first ape-man fossils at Sterkfontein and began work at this site. In 1938 a young schoolboy, Gert Terrblanche, brought Raymond Dart fragments of a skull from nearby Kromdraai which later were identified as Paranthropus robustus. Also in 1938 a single ape-man tooth was found at the Cooper's site between Kromdraai and Sterkfontein. In 1948 the Camp-Peabody Expedition from the United States worked at Bolts Farm and Gladysvale looking for fossil hominids but failed to find any. Later in 1948 Robert Broom identified the first hominid remains from Swartkrans cave. In 1954 C.K. Brain began working at sites in the Cradle including Coopers and he soon would initiate his three decade work at Swartkrans cave which would result in the recovery of the second largest sample of hominid remains from the Cradle. The oldest controlled use of fire was also discovered at Swartkrans and dated to over 1 million years ago.

In 1966 Phillip Tobias began his excavations of Sterkfontein which are still continuing and are the longest continuously running fossil excavations in the world. In 1991 Lee Berger of the University of the Witwatersrand discovered the first hominid specimens from the Gladysvale site making this the first new early hominid site to be discovered in South Africa in 48 years. In 1994 Andre Keyser discovered fossil hominids at the site of Drimolen. In 1997 Kevin Kuykendall and Colin Menter of the University of the Witwatersrand found two fossil hominid teeth at the site of Gondolin. Also in 1997, the near-complete Australopithecus skeleton of "Little Foot", dating to around 3.3 million years ago (although more recent dates suggest it is closer to 2.5 million years ago), was discovered by Ron Clarke. In 2001 Steve Churchill of Duke University and Lee Berger found early modern human remains at Plovers Lake. Also in 2001 the first hominid fossils and stone tools were discovered in-situ at Coopers. In 2010, Lee Berger discovered the partial remains of two hominids (Australopithecus sediba) in the Malapa Fossil Site that lived between 1.78 and 1.95 million years ago.[/b]

i thought you were going to mention one military intervention success of SANDF but you had to foolishly talk of DRC.

1: DRC is not a south african led mission and not an intervention until recently when your troops joined the brave tanzanian special forces. still, your troops have not fired on bullet while M23 has gone on rampage again.

2: DRC mission is not even up to 5% accomplished and last time i checked SANDF is among the UN troops that fled when M23 marched to the capital.

so what are you even bragging about. Failure or what? cos it definitely ain't success

we've dealt with this issue before or are new to this thread?

seeing as you don't know how to do research yourself, let me help you a little.

The SA National Defence Force is on the verge of collapse.

[b]With dwindling budgets, an exodus of highly-skilled technical staff and reduced spending on training and equipment, the defence force - according to military experts - can barely meet its constitutional obligations.
Increasing international demands and frequent internal deployments - such as the recent presidential announcement of the deployment of hundreds of troops on crime fighting operations over the next four months - is putting further strain on the already overstretched armed services.

The army has nearly 2000 troops on peacekeeping missions in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Sudan, and military trainers in the Central African Republic and the DRC.

The defence force has military observers deployed under the AU and UN flags in Ethiopia and Eritrea. The navy has a frigate, and air force personnel and aircraft, in the Mozambican channel and Mozambique deployed on anti-piracy operations.

Military analyst Helmoed Heitman said the defence force was now collapsing.

"We have huge sections of the budget spent on salaries, with equipment and training left lacking. We are hopelessly short on manpower - 20000 troops too few - and porous borders that cannot be guarded properly," he said.

"We have pilots who can't fly [sufficient] hours, troops who have been given limits on the amount of ammunition they can use in training, and equipment, such as our frigates, which cannot be maintained because there is no proper budget.

"The defence force is collapsing. If drastic action is not taken soon, in the next three years it will be beyond recovery."

The Defence Department received just over R34-billion last year from the Treasury. Its current budget of R37-billion is expected to increase to R39-billion in the 2013-2014 financial year. Professor Renfrew Christie, dean of research at the University of Western Cape, said the military's budget needed a drastic increase.

"We spend 1% of our gross national product on defence. We need a military capable of looking after our country with the time now coming to increase spending to 2% of GDP," Christie said. "To do our duty, we need a bigger and better equipped military. The option of downscaling our involvement north of our borders is not an option.

"Protecting our country and its borders is far bigger than just putting up fences," he said.

Retired admiral Chris Bennett, the former naval chief of staff, said the massive "poaching" of technical staff had led to numerous crises in the navy.

"Our military, especially on the technical side, is being bled dry by both public and private industries, as well as by foreign militaries.

"Though the navy until now has managed to stay afloat, things are beginning to bite," he said.

"The right funding has not been given to the military [which is] being required more and more by parliament to do things [parliament is] not prepared to pay for.[/b]

or do you need more? cheesy
