What difference does it make whether someone gets HIV thru sex or not? It is still a chronic disease. HIV gotten thru sex does not kill faster than HIV from any other means. If a student is found to be HIV positive, do they get expelled or what? |

Mohadana, whats your point. I dont get it or are yoyu trying to add a tribalistic tone to the discussion? |

I think that question is premature in the Nigerian environment. Remember that Economist who had a hiearchy of needs ( Marslow, I think his name was). people think of higher needs when the basic ones such as food, shelter and clothing are fulfilled. I Nigeria, many people are still trying to fulfil the basic needs. Fulfilment is still way off |

I totally agree that the man is the head of the house as long as we all remember that the woman is the neck that turns the man in all directions |

Co- habit before marriage? For me, no way umless there are truly mitigating circumstances. I believe it leads to 'see finish.' Cohabitation will come after marriage. Otherwise, as my mom wisely says,' Who would want to buy a cow when he can get the milk for free?' |

I am so sick of the tribal bashing in nairaland. Why is it that many topics bordering in culture or tradition end up as wars between the different tribes? the concept of " one Nigeria" is obviously still a very big pipe dream |

First of all, Seun is a guy after my heart. I am a very good cook( if I may say so myself) but I definitely would want a guy to appreciate me for much more my cooking skills |

Why do people assume that being a virgin means being completely naive about sex? In this day and age no one can be that naive. But one can have all the facts and still make a conscious choice to remain a virgin. Not just for religious reasons but because you can save yourself a lot of heartache that way. As a lady, no worrying about unwanted pregnancy or all those nasty sexually transmitted diseases. i see nothing wrong also with a guy being a virgin either. Its not the sole prerogative of ladies. I am one , am proud of it and intend to remain one until marriage. For me, its just a personal decision. For non -virgins, you have a right to live your life the way you want to. That's my take on this subject. Have a nice day, y'all |

What always amazes me is that there is no fuel at the petrol station but there will be in the black market with some of the dealers selling directly in front of the filling station. What is Yar'adua saying about the crises anyway? |

My guy, what did you expect? Match my words, she's gonna dump your cheating butt in the very near future |

Thank you Thiefofhearts, Cheating is definitely not okay. It irritates me when people say'Men cheat" and then shrug it off. The difference between man and dogs is that man has ( or rather should have) selfcontrol and dogs live at the mercy of their instincts. Its very painful for any lady when her man cheats on her. and then in their marital bed. That is the height of insult and disrespect. My dear Ladyjini, Marriage is sacred( though your husband does not seem to realize that). Dig deep and find a way to forgive him. However make sure he has a HIV test so you know where you stand. |

I have followed this post with a lot of interest. I have lived in Lagos, Europe and now Abuja. Actually I was in Lagos over the weekend. While I agree that Lagos is filthy, it sure felt good to be there cos Abuja is too much like the west. I looooooveeeee the heart beat of lagos. Lagos has a pulse. You fill it immediately you step into the airport. The people are hard working and vibrant. In Lagos you feel alive. Pity the journalist did not notice that. Although thats understandable considering his whole trip was to the third mainland bridge. LAGOS ROCKS!!! |

Hey Roadblock, just think about it. Before the sexual revolution, if sex occured before marriage it was hidden. Men had to work a lot harder than now to have sex with women outside marriage. Along comes the sexual revolution and women wanting to have as much sexual freedom as men and sex is suddenly easily available ( mainly to the advantage of the men). See where I am coming from ( just kidding) |
![]() |
It has always been my personal opinion that the sexual revolution was started by a man so that men could indulge in sex without committing |

Hey Roadblock, Well said. As for me, I think sex should be sacred but unfortunately, it has been made so cheap in our generation. So many people now believe in instant sexual gratifification. Anyone who saves sex till marriage is now considered naive. To be 'hip' one has to be sexually experienced. No wonder sexually transmitted diseases are on the increase. |

Hi all, I need some advice. I am due to go the UK for a couple of weeks on a shortcourse on complete scholarship. The school has advised me to get a student visa. However I would like to know if anyone on this forum has hsd this experience. Do I need things like tax clearance receipts, etc. Cos getting getting them from the tax office is such a hassle. Or is are documents from my sponsors confirming the scholarship sufficient. i have been to the embassy's website but I need infor from someone who has had a similar experience |

My advice is, if you think you can do a job, send your CV and letter of motivation ( well written of course). When I applied for my first job, they asked for five years experience which I definitely did not have. Fortunaately, I got hired. The rest is history. So keep trying. God dey. |
