You don't sound quite as intelligent as you believe you are, do you know the cost of his refinery? It's about $14b that's roughly N2.trillion, trust me, you don't wanna risk it cos it can make for your downfall

You don't reason properly. Your sentiment is that "this type of project would have sited in the south south or Niger Delta if not for the activities of militants"

But I am saying that

Cross Rivers State is there
Akwa Ibom is there
Edo State is there
Even ondo state is there

These states are not restive or disturbed by militant activities. In fact, there is a 1 billion dollar power project in Edo state. If any investor wants to invest in the south south or Niger Delta, whats wrong these states?

If he's concerned about the security of his investment, why didn't he go to Osun and build the refinery there?

What other reason does Dangote have to choose Lagos over the SS/SE?

Lagos is obviously a better destination for his project.

Lagos is a better destination because it has the biggest market in West Africa. Thats the only reason and nothing else.

patrickmuf:
Lol so for you it's anything but Lagos, don't forget Ondo state is still located in the South West...Everything about you has some tribal undertone

Once again, I don't care about where the project is sited. I am only faulting your logic that the refinery would've been situated in the Niger Delta if not for the activities of militants. Your sentiments don't make sense.

Of what value is the refinery to Nigeria, the strategy of the militants is to pinch where it hurts, refinery that's barely functional compared to the billions wasted trying to fix it...Blow up that waste of space and watch Nigerians storms the streets in celebration

What of the port harcourt refinery? That one is working, why haven't they bombed it?
Business / Re: Dangote Refinery Video::world's Largest Refinery. Video. by SWG26: 8:10am On Jun 05, 2016

Why are you against siting the refinery in Lagos state?

I don't give a damn where it sited. I am just faulting the logic and sentiments of some people on this thread thats all.

There Logic is that the refinery was sited in Lagos because Lagos is "peaceful", and the refinery would have been sited in the ND region if not for the activities of militants. Thats bullshit!
Business / Re: Dangote Refinery Video::world's Largest Refinery. Video. by SWG26: 7:53am On Jun 05, 2016
patrickmuf:
Lagos is not more peaceful you say but let me say this as a Cross Riverian, the chances of things escalating here is far greater than it is in Lagos...Don't forget we're still battling with our own version of Almajiris here AKA Skolombo boys who are terrorizing the neighborhood...
So my guy, it has everything to do with the threat of militancy...
Trust you to argue further but let me ask, what are the chances of militants attacking a facility in Lagos compared to Cross River? Your guess is as good as mine...

Why haven't militants attacked the refinery in Warri? Is the refinery invincible? What about the port harcourt refinery? Why haven't they attacked it too? Use your head Mr man

mr man you have to embrace reality
Even if there's peace in ND the refinery will never be sited there.

is cross rivers, AkwaIbom not peaceful and developed grin

forget the talk

You dey mind the otondo? Why didn't they site the refinery in ondo state? Isn't Ondo also a coastal state with more oil than Lagos?

Pardon?

There is nothing to envy Mr man. Its an investment and nothing else. Even if the project was sited in backyard, I wouldn't give a damn.

For all my fellow Niger Deltans, I hope y'all can now see what we're losing owing to our continuous romance with militants (I am certain the militant won't thrive without support from host communities)...I am almost certain that if the region of Niger Delta was peaceful and conducive for business transaction, a project such as this would have been situated in Cross River or Akwa Ibom which would have made the government serious about the seaport construction that the region really needs...
We're losing but the illiterates in our midst won't get my drift, our loss is Lagos gain...Even if I want to invest today, I know it won't be anywhere close to the ND, it's little wonder Asari Dokubo had to run to faraway Benin Republic to build a university (I'd have prefer he built it in Nigeria TBH)

Even if Niger Delta was secure, the refinery wouldn't be sited there. This has nothing to do with militancy. Lagos is not more "peaceful" than Cross River state, why wasn't it sited in Cross River or Edo? These are areas with no activities and history of militancy.

Did Buhari resolve Boko Haram? Why do you expect GEJ to resolve militancy when Buhari couldn't resolve Boko Haram terrorism even though he was appointed by Boko Haram to negotiate on their behalf?

The morale of southern nigerians is at an all time low. People are even tired of complaining. News of killings because of religious blasphemies aren't helping either.
Politics / Re: 13 Threats To Nigeria- Tola Adeniyi by SWG26: 5:39pm On Jun 04, 2016
The Number 1 threat to corporate Nigeria is the unexplainable timidity of all Nigerians, the criminal silence of the masses in the face of the huge theft of their patrimony by a handful. Sometimes I wonder if Nigeria is the same country that produced legendary Aminu Kano, Madam Sawaba, Mrs. Olufunmilayo Kuti, Margaret Ekpo, Joseph Sarwan Tarka, Adaka Boro, Tai Solarin, Arthur Nwankwo, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, Beko Ransome-Kuti and fiery Gani Fawehinmi among a few others.

Inability to speak out against evil, against injustice, against oppression, depression and deprivation is the beginning of calamitous tragedy. Nigerians have kept too quiet for too long that we now have a deadly monster that has almost swallowed us up as a people. Can we pretend not to know when our school drop-out neighbour who became chairman of local government suddenly started putting up a mansion and assembling porch cars in his yard? Did we not see Ghana-Must-Go bags being loaded and off loaded in the National Assembly? Did we not see our governors, presidents and other public officials suddenly becoming billionaires? We kept quiet.

But the avengers are speaking out yet they call them criminals.
