BlueRayDick: What I'm saying is this ; an agent will not just walk up to u and tell u my player has a buy out clause of 20m with word of mouth, he will show u an evidence of such contract in place. You then carefully study it and look at it and see if his claim is correct or not.
It's just like going for a job interview where u are asked Ur current annual earnings. You may tell them 5m with a status car at the various stages of the interview and use it to bargain let's say 7m + an SUV. Before giving u the offer the company will definitely ask for Ur previous employment latter/ recent pay slip to confirm Ur claim. They don't just believe Ur claim na.
So saying arsenal rely solely on what the agent interpreted is somehow unbelievable. Except the way football contract works is quite different from what we are made to underatsnd In football only the agency representing the player and the club have access to the player contract. They are some terms made public as stated by the league rules e.g Spain has a mandatory buyout clause for all players which are made public while England doesn't. Basically we had an agreement with Suarez around summer for transfer and his agent gave us an inside tip of a clause in his contract that would work to our benefit after our initial bid was rejected and who better to trust than the agent representing the player, so we dived in thinking we were in control and being smart. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Swissh: 3:01pm On Mar 29, 2020 |
BlueRayDick: You don't pin such things on agents. Arsenal have people who work in legal who understand the terms of contracts. Why do u rely on the agent's interpretation of a contract u want to buy a player out of?
Why didn't our legal look at the contract too before make ing such laughable offer?
See arsenal fumbled and loserpool ensured they mad us laughing stock by publicizing the offer. Arsenal don't have the legal right to access Suarez contract papers. It's the information from the agent the club will follow. We took the matter to PFA who then looked at the clause and decided Liverpool interpretation was the correct one. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Swissh: 2:52pm On Mar 29, 2020 |
BlueRayDick: Even you are still wrong.
It was actually not a buy-out clause, it was just a sum stated in his contract that will trigger discussions. The way it was supposed to work is this; once an offer in the excess of £40m is received, they were supposed to inform Suarez and open discussions.
As far as loserpool is concerned, the £1 is insulting and decided not to even open discussion with arsenal cos they assume nothing good will come out of the discussion
https://metro.co.uk/2019/07/05/arsenal-made-infamous-40m1-transfer-bid-luis-suarez-10118817/amp I said it already the agent misinterpreted the clause and gave the club wrong information. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Swissh: 2:28pm On Mar 29, 2020 |
BlueRayDick: What are you even saying? Everybody knows it's just like a normal bid process, when the seller pegs the minimum for £40m it is only normal for you as a prospective buyer to better that minimum asking price with something reasonable.
£1 in Suarez's case is not reasonable by all standards. Adding £1,000,000.00 to that wouldn't have made Arsenal bankrupt. Whoever sanctioned that bid be it Wenger or the board is to blame for the deal going south.
A vehicle was put up for bidding at a friend's workplace recently. The asking price was 1.4m, my friend wanted to bid 1.450m but I told him to do 1.470m to show seriousness. He did and won the bid. That's how u show seriousness in the market, not giving insulting offers Why won't you people understand this is not a bid process or bargain example. A fixed buy out clause in a contract is not negotiable. It doesn't have to be reasonable they just had to fulfill what the contract demanded. If it was stated clearly in Suarez contract that any bid above 40million Suarez could leave the club then arsenal triggered the clause with the 40million + 1 pound simple as that. The agent gave Arsenal wrong interpretation of the contract clause. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Swissh: 2:23pm On Mar 29, 2020 |
Jodera: I don't see any misinformation here. Even if the agent says anything above the factual club could trigger it, why should a sane human being bring 1 pound. Even locally, if you want to buy something from, let's say, all these roadside aboki. And you guys have bargained up to 1000 naira. And he just said you should top something to the 1000 naira, that he can't just accept 1000naira. Would you have topped #5 to the 1000#? Inside that an insult to the aboki man as a business man? How much more a club like Liverpool? This is not the same thing. It's not a bargain. This a fixed contract clause. If an agent says my client has an escape clause in his contract that says pay anything above 100naira for example you will get him then a bid of 101naira the player is yours. This is nothing like the example you are giving. Have you seen clubs bargaining over a release clause. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Swissh: 1:50pm On Mar 29, 2020 |
Jodera: like who does that?? Against a club as big as Liverpool sef. Mehn, I disliked Wenger for that. What the f**k is 1pound? It's not an insult if it actually triggers a factual clause. Once that is triggered Liverpool could have been as insulted as they want it nothing would have happened. Suarez and his agent could've talked to Arsenal and finally transferred. Suarez agent is to be blamed for false information not the club. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Swissh: 1:48pm On Mar 29, 2020 |
Jodera: lol, seems you've forgotten. Suarez was desperate to come to arsenal then. We needed a striker also. He even told one of our players then to find a house for him. Even tho, Liverpool didn't want to sell to us, he was so desperate that he wants to come to us, cos of that Liverpool had no choice than to give in. So they said his release clause was 40million pounds. Arsenal brought the £40m then, but they insisted arsenal "top" something to it, that they can't sell at exactly £40m to trigger it. I guess a 40.5m pounds will do or £41m. But wenger, in his infinite wisdom and stinginess just added a pound, making it 40m and 1pound. That angered everyone at Liverpool that dey have to cut off the deal. Just that singular act made us lose Suarez in the summer of 2013, which would have made him donning an arsenal shirt Blame Suarez agent for the mis information not the club. His agent said anything above 40million would trigger the clause. The problem was it was not a factual clause but misinformation towards Arsenal by Suarez' agent. He specifically told them anything more than 40m would trigger the clause, even one pound, but it did not. |

Expert17: Watching some Paul Scholes games
My no 1 midfield player of all time.
499 Games in EPL (321 WINS, 72 LOSSES) 107 Goals (NO PK) 55 Assist
718 total games with 155 goals.
My toughest opponent? Scholes of Manchester. He is the complete midfielder. Scholes is undoubtedly the greatest midfielder of his generation... There is no doubt for me that he [Paul Scholes] is still in a class of his own. He's almost untouchable in what he does. I never tire of watching him play. You rarely come across the complete footballer, but Scholes is as close to it as you can get. One of my regrets is that the opportunity to play alongside him never presented itself during my career. shazam47: hey guys, happy Sunday to my fellow gunners in this wonderful thread, so I want to talk about this abumeyang situation, am I the only one who feels that the club should sell him off already since he is not ready to commit his long term future to the club.
I hate the way the media has exalted him like he is some kind of Ronaldo incarnate, yes he scores alot of goals for us but apart from those goals he is just average, van persie came and left , Sanchez also came and left now its his turn, someone will still replace him, he is not the first neither will he be the last.
what the club needs right now during this rebuilding period is a United and commited team that is ready to fight for the barge and not for their pockets. Are you guys even ok at all. So we should keep selling our best players instead of Keeping them and building a dominant team. So if we sell Aubameyang now who will replace his goals? |
