It has been four years since the sudden and heartbreaking passing of my dear brother, His Excellency, Late Gov. Abiola Ajimobi, the immediate past Executive Governor of Oyo State. As I reflect on the profound impact he had on our lives and the legacy he left behind, I am filled with a mixture of sorrow and pride. His Excellency, Late Gov. Abiola Ajimobi was not just a political leader; he was a loving brother, a devoted husband, a caring father, and a friend to many. Today, I wish to honor his memory by sharing the remarkable essence of the man he was.

His Excellency, Late Gov. Abiola Ajimobi's life was a testimony ent to dedication and hard work. From a young age, he exhibited an extraordinary drive to excel and a keen intellect that set him apart. His academic journey saw him graduating with honors in Business Administration and Finance from the State University of New York, Buffalo, and later obtaining an MBA from the prestigious Governors State University, Illinois. His academic achievements were a precursor to his successful career in the corporate world before transitioning into politics.

As a brother, His Excellency, Late Gov. Abiola Ajimobi was my confidant and mentor. His guidance and unwavering support were instrumental in my own endeavors. He had an innate ability to inspire those around him, always leading by example and encouraging us to strive for excellence. His wisdom and counsel were invaluable, and his loss has left a void that can never be filled.

In his political career, His Excellency, Late Gov. Abiola Ajimobi was a visionary leader who brought significant development and progress to Oyo State. His tenure as governor was marked by numerous infrastructural projects, improvements in education, healthcare, and a commitment to good governance. His legacy in Oyo State is a testimony to his dedication to public service and his unwavering commitment to the betterment of his people.

His Excellency, Late Gov. Abiola Ajimobi was also known for his compassion and generosity. He believed in the power of giving back to the community, a principle that I have carried forward through the Medinat Adeyemo Foundation. His philanthropic efforts were vast, touching countless lives and providing hope and opportunity to the less privileged. His kindness and humanity continue to inspire my work every day.

Family was the cornerstone of His Excellency, Late Gov. Abiola Ajimobi 's life. He cherished his role as a husband and father, and his love for his family was evident in all he did. His bond with his wife, Her Excellency, Florence Ajimobi, and their children was one of deep affection and mutual respect. The values he instilled in his family are a reflection of the man he was – honorable, loving, and principled.

On a personal level, losing His Excellency, Late Gov. Abiola Ajimobi has been one of the most challenging experiences of my life. The pain of his absence is a constant reminder of how precious and fleeting life is. Yet, in my grief, I find solace in the memories we shared and the knowledge that he lived a life of purpose and impact. His legacy is not just in the tangible achievements but in the lives he touched and the values he championed.

Today, as we remember His Excellency, Late Gov. Abiola Ajimobi, I am reminded of the importance of carrying forward his vision and ideals. The Medinat Adeyemo Foundation is dedicated to continuing his work, focusing on education, healthcare, and community development. Through our efforts, we aim to keep his spirit alive and honor his memory in meaningful ways.

His Excellency, Late Gov. Abiola Ajimobi's life was a beacon of hope and inspiration. His leadership, compassion, and unwavering commitment to his people set a standard for us all. As we commemorate his life and legacy, let us pledge to uphold the values he held dear and to continue striving for a better, more just society.

IWA CELEBRATES POSTHUMOUS BIRTHDAYS OF LITERARY ICONS TM ALUKO, ZULU SOFOLA, AMOS TUTUOLA
The International Writers Association (IWA International) has commemorated the posthumous birthdays of three monumental figures in Nigerian literature: Zulu Sofola (22 June 1935 – 5 September 1995), Amos Tutuola (June 1920 – 8 June 1997), and Timothy Mofolorunso Aluko (14 June 1918 – 1 May 2010). This celebration honors their enduring contributions to the literary world and their impact on African culture and storytelling.
In a press statement issued by the Acting President of the Association, Wole Adedoyin, the IWA expressed deep admiration and respect for the legacies of these literary giants. "Today, we remember and celebrate the remarkable lives and works of Zulu Sofola, Amos Tutuola, and TM Aluko. Their stories, plays, and novels have not only enriched Nigerian literature but have also resonated globally, showcasing the depth and diversity of African narratives," Adedoyin stated.
Nwazuluwa Onuekwuke "Zulu" Sofola (22 June 1935 – 5 September 1995) holds the distinguished honor of being the first published female Nigerian playwright and dramatist. Sofola's groundbreaking work in theater arts was complemented by her academic achievements, culminating in her becoming the first female Professor of Theater Arts in Africa. Her plays, rich in cultural context and dramatic flair, continue to inspire and educate future generations.
Amos Tutuola (June 1920 – 8 June 1997), a luminary in Nigerian literature, captivated readers with his imaginative storytelling rooted in Yoruba folklore. His seminal work, "The Palm-Wine Drinkard," published in 1952 by Faber and Faber, remains a classic. This novel's translation into multiple languages, including the notable French edition by Raymond Queneau, stressed its universal appeal and the timeless quality of Tutuola's narrative craft.
Timothy Mofolorunso Aluko (14 July 1918 – 1 May 2010) was a master of satire, skillfully navigating the tensions between tradition and modernity in his novels. Works like "One Man, One Wife" (1959) and "Chief the Honourable Minister" (1970) provide incisive commentary on societal changes in Africa, highlighting Aluko's astute observations and literary prowess. His novels remain pivotal in understanding the socio-political landscape of mid-20th century Nigeria.
Although no formal events were organized for this occasion, IWA Acting President, Wole Adedoyin urged the public, along with fans and admirers of these authors, to honor their memory by engaging with their literary works. "We encourage everyone to delve into the books of Sofola, Tutuola, and Aluko. Their stories offer invaluable insights and reflections on our culture, history, and identity," Adedoyin emphasized.
The International Writers Association remains committed to preserving and promoting the legacies of African writers. By celebrating the posthumous birthdays of these iconic authors, the IWA aims to keep their contributions alive in the hearts and minds of readers worldwide. The Ibadan Book Club has unveiled the lineup for its June edition of the Oyo Reads Project, featuring Mojeed Ajibola Adeyinka, Chidera Dike, and Chinenyike Lawrence Ezemagu. This event promises an enriching experience for book enthusiasts and literary connoisseurs.
Launched earlier this year, the Oyo Reads Project is a joint initiative between the Ibadan Book Club and the Writers League of Oyo State, aiming to spread the joy of book readings throughout the state.
The upcoming reading is set for June 29, 2024, at the Oyo State Library Board, located opposite Cocoa House in Dugbe, Ibadan. The event will begin promptly at 12:00 PM, offering attendees the chance to engage in captivating literary discussions and vibrant cultural exchanges.

CHIDERA DIKE grew up in Aba; a commercial city in Abia State. He has spent most of his life in the East and just moved to Ibadan recently to further his education. He obtained his O' level degree in Ugo Comprehensive Secondary School, Aba in 2018 and had worked in Ace Greatwinner Secondary School, Aba, as a science teacher. He had volunteered as a community leader and recorder in few immunization exercises conducted by UNICEF, in collaboration with The World Health Organisation. He is to pursue a career in health sciences and some of his aims is to inhibit the spread of HIV/AIDS in Africa and to provide free medical services to people who cannot afford it.
Chidera Dike is an upcoming writer whose aim is focused in promoting African culture and traditions, human right and young Nigerians in participating in politics.

MOJEED AJIBOLA ADEYINKA is a final student of Communication and Language Arts in the University of Ibadan. Mojeed had his journalism training in National Broadcast Academy at Ikeja in Lagos state. Mojeed is an award-winning writer and campus journalist in the University of Ibadan. He has authored several books and published three of them. His first book is titled: Haleemah The Healthy Girl, his second book titled: The New Normal has been recommended by Oyo State Ministry of Education as a literature text for junior secondary school in the state. Mojeed's third and recent book is The Breakfast.

He is a trained and certified cybersecurity professional, modern language expert, a teacher, writer, researcher and chess enthusiast, whose research interests include: African history, science history, political philosophy, African religion and civilization, existentialism and modern language. Until his recent appointment at FOUND AFRICA TECHNOLOGY, Chinenyike has spent years in the classroom, doing what he loves doing, teaching and growing numerous minds. His days at CEOAfrica Ibadan as a news editor and story creator (2022) were brief, yet illustrious, writing and editing stories according to strict timelines as well as the creation of the company newsletter.

FIRST YEAR ANNIVERSARY: APGA OSUN HIGHLIGHTS ACHIEVEMENTS
The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Osun State chapter has marked its first year in office by unveiling a series of significant accomplishments. The current executive committee, led by Mr. Wole Adedoyin, assumed office on May 31, 2023. Under Adedoyin's leadership, the party has demonstrated notable progress and a strong commitment to enhancing its presence and effectiveness in the state.
Here are some key achievements of APGA Osun in the past year:
EMPOWERING WOMEN'S PARTICIPATION IN POLITICS:
1. CONSULTATIVE MEETING ON WOMEN'S POLITICAL PARTICIPATION:
On March 26, 2024, APGA Osun nominated four members for a two-day consultative meeting organized by the Hope for Family Development Initiative (HFDI). This initiative, part of the project “Advancing Women's Political Participation Through Female Elected Candidates in South West Nigeria” funded by the Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen, Germany, aimed at boosting women's involvement in politics. The nominees included the Deputy Chairman, Women Leader, Financial Secretary, and Vice Chairman 3.
2. WOMEN'S ASPIRANTS TRAINING WORKSHOP:
Four women members of the party participated in a four-day workshop from May 22 to May 25, 2024, aimed at promoting female candidates. The training, part of the same project by HFDI, provided valuable capacity-building opportunities. Participants included Mrs. Gloria Bukky Ademola, Mrs. Wuraola Ajao, Mrs. Jayeoba Busayo Deborah, and Mrs. Dunmade Adejoke Wuraola, who all received certificates of completion.
INAUGURATION AND OUTREACH:
Following their inauguration on May 23, 2023, APGA Osun initiated outreach efforts by contacting key stakeholders, including the Osun State Commissioner of Police, Director of DSS, Osun State Commandant of the NSCDC, National Orientation Agency, and Chairman of the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC). This was aimed at establishing partnerships for future electoral activities.
MEMBERSHIP AUDIT COMMITTEE:
The party formed a Membership Audit Committee to strengthen its membership base and attract new members, with Mr. Gbadebo Adekunle as Chairman. However, due to inactivity, the committee was dissolved after ten months and will be reconstituted to manage the digital membership registration process.
ONLINE PRESENCE AND COMMUNICATION:
1. Mini-Website Launch: To enhance communication, APGA Osun launched a mini-website at www.apgaosun..com, providing a platform for updates and information dissemination.
2. DRIVE Project Support: Aligned with the vision of National Chairman Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa, a dedicated website for the DRIVE project was created at www.projectdriveapga..com, demonstrating commitment to party repositioning.
3. Newsletter Publication: The party published the first edition of its newsletter, "The Cockerel," in both hardcopy and online formats, available at www.apganewsonline..com.
4. Social Media Engagement: APGA Osun established accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Threads to connect with a broader audience and enhance public engagement.
STATE WORKING COMMITTEE MEETINGS:
APGA Osun held six State Working Committee meetings over the year, discussing important issues and making strategic decisions. Communiqués were issued after each meeting to outline key outcomes.
SEND FORTH CEREMONY:
The party participated in the send-forth ceremony for the former National Vice Chairman (Southwest), Deacon Samson Olalere, on July 15, 2023, in Ibadan, reflecting solidarity with party leaders and members.
NATIONAL MEETING ATTENDANCE:
On September 21, 2023, State Chairman Wole Adedoyin attended the 1st APGA State Chairmen meeting in Abuja. Presided over by National Chairman Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa, the meeting focused on strategic discussions and collaboration among state chapters.

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has announced the launch of its Digital Membership Registration initiative, which is set to commence on Saturday, June 1, 2024. This groundbreaking initiative aims to modernize the party's membership registration process, making it more efficient and accessible to all members across the nation. This announcement was made public through an official statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mazi Ejimofor Opara KSM.
Under the visionary leadership of Barrister Sylvester Ezeokenwa, the National Chairman of APGA, the party is committed to embracing digital transformation to enhance its organizational structure and member engagement. The new digital registration system is a pivotal step in this direction, reflecting APGA's dedication to innovation and progress.
