Cavenchy: Very short post but deep in meaning. Classic example of putting the cart before the horse.
This is the question I have asked for years, What happened to all the graduates leaving our teaching and learning institutions? Why ask someone who studied Tourism or Psychology in a tertiary institution (who has already learnt a skill sufficient for contribution to society) to go learn how to weave a basket just to make a living? Isn't that breach of trust beween a government and its people? These people who learn these skills at the centers would still have to establish their businesses in the same environment that graduate professionals and foreign investors fearfully dread to do business in.
Fix Power, Security, Provide and Regulate Fast Safe and affordable Transportation(No journey should take more than a day to get from point A to B and return to A, in a country the size of Nigeria) I suggest robust rail networks to decongest our overloaded beyond capacity roads, then ensure enforcement Agencies work effectively to assure innovators of intellectual property rights protection. Do these and you wouldnt need to set up any skills acquisition center anywhere. Those things would come naturally as quick as lightning because the enabling environment would exist for businesses to Thrive. U are over making sense my brother! Every year nothing less than 5000 graduates leave the university apparently to find a suitable job to start with but no way...the cycle continues like that for years..my question is: for how long will it go on like this? |

oluwashola4me: ...Do you think he now has romantic feelings for me but he's deliberately holding back. Do you think he's trying to give me hints? I'm tempted to shut this friendship down totally. I can't go through this heartbreak again. It hurt the first time and I'm sure it'll hurt more this time. I know shutting down this friendship will be like a break up for me cos he's been such a huge part of my life but I think that's the only way I can truly get over him. I may or may not tell him but I plan to gradually withdraw. No calls, no texts, until he gets the memo. I really need to heal cos my relationship with him has indirectly affected other relationships I have. I'm falling madly in love with him again and I need it to stop.
Please, you need to cut all ties with him ASAP. It's obvious he doesn't see you as his potential significant half; despite everything you feel for him.
Also, from your narration, I deduced that your love for him has spanned many years, which points that you ain't longer a kid, so GET OVER HIM!
My comments on Nairaland are so few, I only comment on seldom occasions; but I was intrigued by your experience, and I feel your pain.
Take heart! Preach on broo!!! |

Crime › photo: NDLEA Arrests 184 Suspected Drug Dealers In Akwa Ibom State by tabisegroup(op): 8:44am On Aug 22, 2016 |
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) arrested 184 suspected drug dealers and secured the conviction of six others in Akwa Ibom state between January and July.
The NDLEA Command’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Mrs Maria Ilugbuhi, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Uyo, that 154 of the suspects were males while 30 were females.
She added that during the period, the command also seized 96.39 kilogrames of hard drugs from the suspects.
The public relations officer said the seized drugs included cocaine, heroin, cannabis sativa and psychotropic substance.
She said that the Drug Demand Reduction Unit (Counseling Unit) of the agency had counseled, rehabilitated and reunited six of the suspects with their families.
Ilugbuhi said that there was high prevalence of use of cocaine and combined substances than cannabis sativa in Uyo, the state capital of Akwa Ibom.
She attributed the success of the agency in arresting the suspects to the good working relationship and synergy between it and other security agencies in the state.
The PRO, however, said that inadequate funding and logistics were some of the challenges the command faced.
She urged the people to endeavour to provide the agency with useful information on drug dealers and users for prompt action.
Ilugbuhi said the agency was working hard to reduce illicit drug use and trade in the state and advised the people, especially the youths, to shun the vice.
NDLEA has extended its dragnet in search of drug dealers and addicts to major ports, including the airports and border posts across the country.
A lot of persons have been arrested in Plateau, Ondo and Ekiti states in recent crackdown.

Crime › Photo: Man Arrested For Naming His Dog Buhari by tabisegroup(op): 5:44pm On Aug 17, 2016 |
A 30 years old Igbo trader whose name is Joe Fortemose Chinakwe, of No 10, Omikunle Street, Sango-Ota, Ogun State, was reportedly arrested last weekend, after one of his neighbours of Northern extraction complained bitterly that he named his dog after his father, Alhaji Buhari.
According to Vanguard, the complainant reported the case at Sango Police Station, last Saturday, after which the trader was arrested and detained.
However, it was gathered that efforts by the police to recover the dog, which they intended using as evidence failed following a clever move by the suspect.
The trader, said to be trading in female wears at a popular market in Sango, allegedly directed his friends secretly to kill the dog and possibly eat the meat in order to avoid being implicated. It was gathered that consistent appeals by his friends and relations for the police to grant him bail failed as the complainant and his kinsmen reportedly threatened to kill the trader if he was released on bail.
Trader denied bail
The case, however, took a different dimension two days later when Chinakwe’s relatives went to Sango police station to further plead for his bail only to be informed that the case file and the suspect have been transferred to Ogun State Police Command headquarters at Eleweran.
A relation to the suspect, who simply identified himself as Chiedozie, told Vanguard that his brother was being persecuted for no just cause and expressed fears that he may either be poisoned inside police cell or thrown into jail.
