when it comes to being budget friendly, i think TECNO mobile are really doing a good. Oscarpraise: Well, the success story didn’t happen overnight. itel Mobile came into the market with a mission to empower consumers with seamless communication with a mantra of providing smartphones for everyone. In 2016, itel sold a milestone of 50 million devices, to become the top mobile brand in Africa. Reports gathered revealed that in 2017, itel reached an exponential growth with sales volume reaching a landmark of 80 million devices, making it a well-known brand with a historical highest brand awareness of 83.3%. The previous quarters between 2017 and 2018 was no difference. A plethora of flagship devices were released by the brand, each with the goal of standing out in providing mobile solutions to consumers – such as long-lasting battery life with itel P32, building a selfie-nation with more powerful megapixel with the itel S13 among a host of others. It is strongly believed that the reason for itel’s success and dominance is their ability to understand the major needs of African consumers. They focus on delivering continued value to itel users and pioneer new technologies that offers newer mobile solutions to consumers and that why itel Mobile remains the most reliable budget smartphone brand in this battle, and will definitely weather the storm. |

well no doubt the likes TECNO have done really good in providing a variety of devices to meet the needs of the population. Oscarpraise: According to a research from Counterpoint’s Market search, global smartphone shipments declined 3% annually in Q1 2018 while brands like Nokia, itel, TECNO, Xiaomi led the charts in the fastest growing mobile phone category with the largest smartphone shipment and share. For a smartphone brand like itel Mobile, this is tremendous growth and is also a commendable feat, coming from a brand that strategically penetrated the Nigerian smartphone market only a decade ago. In the first quarter of 2018, itel stood at third position with 13% market share in the global feature phone market. That would be itel’s first time of topping the chart as one of the top 10 smartphones across the globe, as the smartphone shipments grew over 200% in Q1 2018. Fast forward to the end of Q3 2018, a recent August report from Euromonitor International, based on mobile phones in Nigeria has reflected that itel Mobile surpassed Samsung, Nokia and Huawei to hold the second position in retail volume with a market share of 25.8%, – a commendable feat to crown the brand’s efforts in becoming a top market leader in 2018. The fact is itel Mobile steals the spotlight every time, especially when it comes to the budget department. The company does an exceptional job in making smartphones for everyone by putting out phones with good quality, reliability, trendiness and performance at an affordable price point. |

Phones › Re: Is TECNO The King Of Budget Smartphones In Africa? by tafat: 4:23pm On Oct 22, 2018 |
you wouldnt be wrong if you crowned them that. Behankey: Smartphones are quite diverse but budget-friendly phones that are durable can only be attributed to a few brands such as TECNO, which arguably may be the king of budget-friendly phones in Africa.
TECNO Mobile is a subsidiary of the Transsion Holdings to which the Itel Brand, Oriamo Brand, and Infinix brand are also subsidiaries.
TECNO, a Hong Kong-based company has redefined the concept of "China" phones in Africa. Before now a majority of these low-end phones gave Africans the ability to become mobile but however, this mobility did not come with efficiency or durability. They were simply phones made for "talking" www.nairaland.com/attachments/7966431_1_jpeg83b5009e040969ee7b60362ad7426573 In the year 2013, during an interview session with howwemadeitinafrica, Arif Chowdhury, the vice president of Transsion Holdings was asked about how TECNO planned to break the market in Africa when it was already said that African was 100% mobile penetrated. With excitement, he said that whereas many countries in Africa were 100% penetrated, there was a need for phone replacements.
As deduced from that conversation and analysis of the many lovely innovations brought upon by TECNO, we can say that those words have been clearly justified.
Coming to Africa- TECNO Mobile Transsion Holdings began operations in Africa as TECNO and Itel in the year 2007 whilst producing low tech devices meant simply to serve as mobile phones. By Early 2008, TECNO shifted all of its attention to Africa and decided to be the King of budget smartphones in the continent. Our analysis will point out how true this is.
TECNO launched full-time operations in Early 2008 with a wide array of smartphones build to be completely affordable within the African Market. At first, many Africans were quite suspicious about the new company which we would gladly say was because of the disappointments seen with many other mobile phone companies at that time. It was quite a wonder that barely two years within the African continent, TECNO ranked, first three best smartphone brands in Africa (after Samsung and Apple).
This we deduced came as a result of four main strategic decisions by the Company which simply amounts to giving Africa what they truly want in a smart device.
Exquisite Cameras made for Africa The first feature is the integration of cameras optimized for the African skin. According to Arif Chowdhury, vice president ofTranssion, TECNO phones have better cameras that adjust perfectly allowing more light for the darker skin making the resulting image, twice more brilliantly beautiful. It is no wonder that the TECNO brand fulfilled this statement through the launching of the "Best Camera Smartphones in Africa" with the launch of Camon CX in 2017.
Enhanced productivity in a budget delight
www.nairaland.com/attachments/7966432_2_jpegea571676ce9b75b0730a5d56350ae93e
The second feature is productivity, TECNO mobile phones are made to deliver whatever form of productivity is stated on its packaging material. It was the first mobile tech company within this part of the world to produce a low tech device that ran on Android Marshmallow in 2016 through the creation of TECNO W4. Spectacular creations such as the TECNO Phantom series mirrors the Samsung Galaxy series in terms of features but although we cannot say it delivers all of the Samsung Galaxy flagship features, this series delivers much more than is expected when compared to its pricing structure. The TECNO spark series launched in 2017 is much loved by thousands of Africans not just due to being affordable but because they give more efficiency in terms of performance.
Considerations for Africa's Electricity challenges The third attribute that brought TECNO this far, is the optimization of smartphones to the electricity situation in Africa. Right from the start, one of TECNO's objectives was the creation of smartphones that were not so much as a burden to Africans. Many countries in Africa have so many problems with Electricity supply and therefore mobile phones with more than 3000mAh battery performances are considered a blessing. This objective is fulfilled within every smartphone rolled out by TECNO, many of its flagships are deliver more than 3000mAh of battery performance.
Initiating the Dual Concept
www.nairaland.com/attachments/7966433_3_jpeg182845aceb39c9e413e28fd549058cf8
The fourth attribute is the Dual SIM scenario. According to Arif Chowdhury, TECNO's market evaluation before moving to Africa discovered that a majority of Africans had more than one SiM card. This it deduced stemmed from the fact that the continent's tariff plans are outrageously expensive and so to reduce the extra cost, the majority of Africans carried more than one SIM card in their wallets and purses, always prepared to change SIM cards at any time to make their phones calls more affordable.
With the initiation of the concept of Dual SIM smartphones within the African Tech market, it progressed positively.
"Made in Africa" for Africans The fifth is the most surprising feature. TECNO's brand states that it is in Africa and makes phones for Africans, but more analysis brings to light that it doesn't simply make smartphones for Africans but " creates smartphones for Africans in Africa. In 2012, TECNO was the first brand to make smartphones in Ethiopia and till date is restructuring more manufacturing plants in Nigeria and Kenya.
When asked the question" Is TECNO the King of budget smartphones in Africa? I can rightly say Yes it is. Unarguably TECNO has created smartphones known for: Gorgeous cameras ooptimized for the lovely African chocolate skin Enhanced performance Dual SIM to help Africans fight the Tariff plans challenges Better Battery performances to combat electricity problems
And even more for Africa
And yet, all of this is made in an affordable, budget-friendly packed smart devices. TECNO Mobile is, without doubt, all of this and more. By more, I mean first of all, through the creation of customer-friendly platforms optimised to answer your smartphone technical problems at any time. You can find satisfactory solutions and on-hand customer service specialists through Carlcare and stay ahead of the latest while interacting with other customers through TECNO Spot.
Lastly, the creation of the music box, Boomplay which gives Africans access to music on the go at a more affordable rate than other music apps is another great delight. Boomplay rivals the likes of Spotify, iTunes, and Google Play in Africa with well over 32 million users.
www.nairaland.com/attachments/7966434_4_jpeg9679ccb5a92f650b83fcf29e0a6a6775
Barely a decade ago, Nokia, Samsung, and even Blackberry dominated the market in Africa, Today Transsion Holdings accounts for more than 50% of the mobile tech market of which TECNO heralds about 20%.
TECNO is indeed King in this part of the World for a lot of things but largely due to its fulfillment of some of Africa's mobile problems.
