BlackBerry will reportedly roll out BB10 OS version 10.3.1 starting February 19 to all BB10 devices. It is worth mentioning that only the BlackBerry Classic and BlackBerry Passport handsets come with the latest BB10 OS out-of-the-box. |
It's simple logical reasoning, same security situation that couldnt be tackled in 6years can never be tackled in 6 weeks |

Hello good people, vote your conscience. Don't be manipulated. If your pastor says don't vote for a Muslim, ask him if Daniel served a saint; whether Modeccai did not serve King Ahaseurus and if Joseph was not a prime Minister under Pharaoh. This election is not about North versus South, nor is it Christian versus Muslim. It is about Nigeria and good governance. Don't allow politicians divide us. When they share money, they don't talk about religion. When they want donations from Aliko Dangote, they don't remember he is a Muslim. When they enter an aircraft, they don't ask the religious faith of the pilot. When their bosses are atheists, they don't resign from the job. When an Alhaji gives them contracts, they don't reject it. They and their wives go to Dubai to spend money. Dubai is in United Arab Emirate but they have no problems buying houses in Dubai. But when it comes to politics back home, they say they want to ISLAMISE you. Yet, some of these people were spiritual consultants to Abacha. Vote your conscience. If you want to vote for Jonathan, vote for him based on your conviction that he has performed in your estimation and not because he is a "Christian". If you want to vote for Buhari, vote for him because you feel disenchanted with Jonathan government, not because he is a Muslim. Say NO to bigotry. God bless Nigeria. |

The Central Bank of Nigeria has barred commercial banks from holding any part of their funds in United State dollars as it steps up efforts to reduce pressure on the naira. The CBN, in a circulated dated December 17, 2014, ordered the banks to stop keeping one per cent of their shareholders’ funds in dollars as foreign exchange trading position at the close of each business day. The move, according to the CBN, is meant to reduce the volatility being experienced in the naira-dollar exchange rate. The circular, signed by the Director, Trade Exchange, CBN, Mr. Olakanmi Gbadamosi, read, “The CBN has observed the recent development in the foreign exchange market and its consequences on the stability of the exchange rate. In order to preserve the stability of the market, the foreign exchange trading position of individual authorised dealer, which is currently at one per cent of its shareholders’ fund unimpaired by losses, has been temporarily reviewed downward to zero per cent with immediate effect. “Consequently, authorised dealers are therefore required to maintain zero per cent of their shareholders’ fund as foreign exchange trading position at the close of each business day. Any infraction of the requirement of this circular, in any way whatsoever, will attract appropriate sanctions, which may include suspension from the foreign exchange market.” The CBN believes commercial banks are contributing to the continued fall of the naira by speculating against the naira through their dollar stocks. This, it was learnt, informed the central bank’s decision to stop the banks from holding dollars. Close to $1bn will be withdrawn from the custody of the banks through the measure, according to analysts. The Governor, CBN, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, had reiterated that the central bank was not going back on the latest decision, adding that it would not tolerate speculation against the ailing naira. “We do not want speculators in this market any longer. The banks are not supposed to hold any funds (in dollars) of their own. They are supposed to buy and sell currency on behalf of customers,” he said. In a related development, the CBN on Thursday asked banks and members of the general public, who purchase dollar at the interbank forex market, to ensure that they utilised it within 48 hours. A separate circular posted on the bank’s website read, “We write to inform all authorised dealers and the general public that with effect from the date of this circular, funds purchased by banks/ customers at the interbank forex market must be utilised within 48 hours from the date of purchase, failing which they should be returned to the CBN for repurchase at the bank’s buying rate.” Analysts said the new measures by the CBN would be counterproductive and might not save the naira from further fall Currency strategist at Ecobank Nigeria, Mr. Kunle Ezun, wrote in an economic note, “By this new foreign exchange regulation, inter-bank market liquidity is eroded, thereby creating a non-competitive market devoid of price transparency and discovery. Tightening the conditions that allow access to the dollar, while making no changes to how foreign exchange is supplied will further heighten the naira volatility. “Overall, the circular will create more volatility that will require another set of CBN circulars to address the dollar supply and demand bottlenecks. As such, we expect the naira to trade between 190 and 195.” The naira has been battered in recent months by plunging oil prices. Despite heavy intervention in the market, the central bank has failed to keep the currency in the new band it set on November 25 when it devalued the currency by eight per cent in a bid to halt the slide its foreign exchange reserves. On whether the CBN might be forced to devalue the naira again owing the continued fall in its value, Emefiele told Reuters, “As the need arises, action will be taken. But we believe the currency is appropriately priced at this time.” The naira fell to a record low of 188.85 to the dollar after the governor’s comments, well outside the bank’s target band. The weak naira will also probably fuel inflation, which has been stable in single digits for two years. The impact on inflation is expected to be felt in January. Commonwealth super middleweight champion, Isaac Ekpo, has tipped the Nigeria boxing team for success at the 2015 All-Africa Games and the Rio 2016 Olympics in Brazil. The Nigeria team garnered a total of three bronze medals at the 2014 Commonwealth Games while the sport enjoyed a reasonable level of participation at other competitions during the year. Ekpo, who is the current WBO Africa champion, believes that the team have the potential to better Nigeria’s previous achievement at the Games. Ekpo told our correspondent that the country had always been blessed with talented and glory-seeking boxers. He said, “Boxing is a game that is done every day. When you are good at it you get better at it. Nigerian boxers are good and are getting better by the day. “I believe the present crop of boxers in the country will do better than our own time. They will go to the All Africa Games next year and bring back more medals than we have previously achieved. “I say this because I see them working hard and sweating it out every day here in the stadium. They can even win more medals for us at the next Olympics.” Ekpo added that he would work hard to ensure the mandatory defence of his title next year. “Isaac Ekpo is training hard. The welterweight fighters are avoiding me, I don’t know why but my target is to be the world champion before the end of next year. I am working hard on my title defence which will come up next year,” he said. The 32-year-old said, “Nigeria is my home. I trained here for my fights and will train here for the other fights I will have next year. I commend the coaches we have here and the efforts they are putting into the development of boxing in Nigeria. “The efforts of former boxers too should not go unrewarded. They need more help to bring out these talents the country has. The next world champion will be produced here in Nigeria by Nigeria.” SOURCE:http://www.punchng.com/sports/ekpo-tips-nigerian-boxers-for-international-glory/ |
A senior secondary school pupil of Maverick College, Ibadan, Oyo State, Fehintoluwa Fabelurin, has emerged the overall winner of the 2014 United Bank for Africa Foundation National Essay Competition. The 15-year-old beat over 1,600 secondary school pupils from across the country who submitted entries for the keenly contested competition to clinch the coveted prize of N1m educational grant to study in any African university of her choice. Sixteen-year-old Obi Chukwudum of St. Thomas Secondary School, Kano, emerged first runner-up; while 15-year-old Sunday Ikemsinachi of Dority International Secondary School, Aba, Abia State, took the third position. Both Chukwudum and Ikemsinachi won educational grants worth N750, 000 and N500, 000 respectively for higher education in any African university. The three winners emerged after 12 finalists were selected from the hundreds of applicants to write a final essay competition at the UBA Head Office in Lagos, from which three emerged overall winners. All the 12 finalists were also given certificates and brand new laptops to enhance their academic performance at the award ceremony which held at the UBA House, Lagos on Monday. Fabelurin, who aspires to become a medical doctor, attributed her success in the competition to the reading culture inculcated in her by her parents from childhood. “Since I was a child, my parents always insist that we read widely. As a science student, I take delight in reading literature books, while I also read the newspapers every day. These contributed to my success in the competition,” she added. Deputy Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (Africa), UBA, Kennedy Uzoka, explained that the financial institution took pride in organising the essay competition with a view to stimulating intellectual capabilities of African youths. He lamented that the surge of digital technology was having profound negative effect on the English language, use of many young Africans, especially in written communication. “Due to the impact of modern technology, many of our children can no longer write appropriately in the English Language. And that is why we introduced the essay competition not only in Nigeria, but also in Ghana and Senegal, as our corporate social responsibility in halting the trend,” Uzoka said. President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday disclosed that for every issue he had to take a decision on, multiple suggestions that were most times contradictory were given to him. He said it was therefore important for Nigerians to continue to pray to God to give him wisdom to take right decisions that would not bring suffering to the people. Jonathan spoke at the 2014 Christmas Carol organised by the Aso Villa Chapel, at the old Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja. Some sets of identical twins and other multiple births in the country have called on President Goodluck Jonathan to intervene in stopping the mass discrimination against them by the Independent National Electoral Commission’s biometric system. They alleged that currently about 1,000 sets of identical twins in the country have been denied their Permanent Voter Cards due to failure of the INEC’s biometric machines to distinguish their identities. Joint Presidents of United Twins and Multiple Births for Transformation in Nigeria, Akpos Mamuzee-Dixon and Andos Mamuzee-Dixon, who are themselves twins, addressed journalists in Abuja on the problem on Thursday. Other sets of twins, who said they were facing similar problems, attended the press conference. Akpos and Andos are musicians and actors. According to them, while Akpos has got his PVC, Andos was not given because of the inability of INEC’s biometric machine to distinguish them. In their letter dated November 25 and addressed to the INEC chairman, Prof. Atahiru Jeega, they threatened to institute a N1bn law suit against INEC “if within 14 days from the date of your receipt of this letter, you fail, refuse to carry out our modest demands.” But they said all their attempts to get remedy, including the letter they wrote to Jega through their lawyer, Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN), had yielded no result. Akpos said, “When we got to the point of our registration in Wuse Zone 7, Akpos presented his Temporary Voter Card, and they found his name on the list and they gave him his PVC. But when it was my turn, they said they could not find my name on the list despite providing my temporary card. They asked to search for my name in other centres. We did but we could not find my name. “We were then asked to go to Karu. When we got to Karu a woman who was an INEC official told us that when they saw the pictures of the two of us and they decided to keep one of the cards on the assumption that it was the same person who was being fraudulent by registering twice.” They said each or both of many sets of twins in the country have been denied their PVCs and would be likely disenfranchised if urgent step was not taken. “Is it now a crime to be twins? I have no apology for being a twin or being identical with my twin. President Goodluck Jonathan must intervene in this. The essence of biometric system is to distinguish persons. If INEC machine cannot distinguish us as different persons then, with due respect, INEC has failed.” Akpos and Andos have threatened to sue INEC as the commission had failed to respond to their letter dated November 25, 2014. They called on INEC to immediately provide Andos his PVC to enable him perform his fundamental and civil obligation as enshrined in Section 12(1) of the Electoral Act, 2011. In the letter written on their behalf by Ozekhome’s law firm, the twins further demanded N20m as compensation for the trauma, psychological depression and feeling of societal rejection they have been made to pass through with the denial of Ando’s PVC.
