I think the major issue with semi sythetic oils is the lack of info on the ratio of d sythetic to mineral content. |

I believe this thread is abt personal experiences and observations so believe me bro when I tell u I didnt have the issue before and datz a fact. Like I said it was after a while I began to notice it...I would have overlooked it if not for the repeated occurrence in the avalon. This is no mere coincidence to the best of my knowledge. And do note that this is an experience with both the 5w-20 and 5w-30 on seperate vehicles. adanny01: Do you mean to say that Milemaster is not a good oil?
I dont think so. Mobil is synthetic while milemaster is semi synthetic. Why would you compare them in the 1st place?
Those who experienced tapping noise from use of milemaster may have had the problem before the switch which the new lighter oil would would have made the sound more pronounced. |

There is something I noticed after a while when I changed to milemaster 5w-20. I began to hear this tapping noise from the engine area. I have also noticed the same noise from a friend's 2000 avalon after I adviced him to change to 5w-30. |

anneki: MileMaster Rep in Nigeria is based in Yaba, Lagos. I have also spoken with him. Their wholesale prices to their dealers has never changed. The only dealer that has maintained the N6000 RRP is one guy in Ikeja. All other dealers sell above that price. Konga has only aligned its prices back to where they started from. Yep i know they are at Yaba cos i buy directly from them and not Konga. When last they delivered to me he said it was cos of Costal semi-synthetic oil to be precise that they had to adjust their price so as not to loose out due to competition. |

oba009: So what will be the solution
i) If it is the engine?
ii) If it is the oil burning? I can't say what the exact solution is but i do know that if you have been using a thick oil for too long it would have expanded your seals and the option is to continue in that route but if itz oil burning then it is a default issue with the car in question. one could try another make of the same viscosity and it the results are same then itz nothing to worry about except to check the oil level regularly. |

[quote author=chiebube post=27685525]This 'shortening of oil'. Is it as a result of engine wear or burning of the milemaster oil?[/quoTE
Most likely it is the burning of the oil. |

Sorry bro but like people have tried to tell you, that is not an '10 model esp if thatz truly the pics of the engine and the gear. It is an xle no doubt and clean but I wont be to surprised if u are mixing the model and the year of manufacture and bliv me dis is coming from some1 who currently drives an '09 model. '10 uses a 2.5 liter engine and has a 6 speed gear. What u have in ur pics is a 2.4 liter engine with a 5 speed gear with the bumpers and lights upgrated to that of a '10. Kindly do ur research......no offense meant. All said itz still a sweet ride |

anneki: I remember they started selling for N6100 when it came out. It moved to N7100 when konga started charging 15% commission and now has moved to the present price because konga now charges less than 5% commission. Their prices on jumia are higher. I learnt jumia charges 20% commission. well i guess there could be more than one reason, i met with the major distributor directly...my source of info. |

chiebube: Hello friends, Please has anyone in the house used Milemaster engine oil 5w-30? I want to start using it as from my next service schedule. kindly advice me if it was ok especially if you bought it from konga or any authorised dealer in Nigeria. If you are a marketer of this oil and you haven't used it in your car, pls do not comment. pls follow this pattern. 1) Are you a user or marketer or both? 2) How long have you been using milemaster? 3) What type of oil filter do you use and how much is it? 4) How many kilometres do you drive before you service your car again? Thank you so much for your responses. I use the 5W-20 -I am not a marketer of the oil. -Started using it since April, 2014. -Use the service pack, cant remember the name of the oil filter (u can find out on Konga.com) -Usually wait till the service light starts to blink. But however i do notice that the oil shortens.....i think it has to do with the car though based on reviews and not necessarily. the oil itself. |

anneki: Konga uses third party courier companies who charge so they must pass this on. I found out the reduction in cost is actually as a result of competition by other brand sellers of semi synthetic oils which was beginning to take over market share. My ponder however is, if it could be sold for N6,000 before when then the initially high price. This my beloved country self...... |

In my opinion its not much of a difference. You'll gain some height. But the width of the tyre and its radius will be same. Actually from what i saw there was a difference in the width but the height was not too noticeable. |
Car Talk › Re: Swapping Tyre Sizes On A Sedan..... by talk2odim(op): 3:15pm On Oct 27, 2014 |
GAZZUZZ: The width would not cause a problem it would even give you better grip on the road. Speed reading would remain the same. Thanks for the info...cos i have always preferred to stick with manufacturers recommendation. Thanks bro....... |

GAZZUZZ: Try and fit 1 wheel first before you swap the 4, some times the tyres touch the suspension which could be dangerous, if there is enough clearance you are safe. Thanks bro.....i actually saw it in another car that was the same model as mine and it wasn't touching the suspension . My concern is impact like reduced mileage, speedometer readings and other stuffs like that. it is technically the same height but more width.... |

i think itz a normal occurence in the camrys of those year...usually 1 qtz per 1000 miles but it should be significantly low. Check for any trace of leakage and if there is none then it is normal especially if u use the recommended oil. |

I also noticed that konga now delivers for N500 within Lagos and N1000 outside Lagos. That used to be free. The delivery charges is not enticing when the total cost of products being ordered is on a relatively low side.... |
