Popular Nigerian singer Tekno was called out some few weeks back by a video vixen who claimed that singer rejected her on the scene of a video shoot for one of his sing, just because she has a dark skin.

The director of the music video, Paul Gambit has however come to the defence of the singer. In an encounter with Sunday Scoop, Paul explained why the model was actually rejected by Tekno.

He said”

“They say customers are always right. I cast someone for a role but the executive producer said she didn’t fit in with what he wanted for the project. He said he would have preferred her in another project. Do you expect me to start arguing with my client? I am the director, not the client who will pay for the job. I understand how she felt and we tried to talk about it.”

Gambit maintained that the vixen wasn’t asked to leave the set and he did all he could do to pacify her.

“I think it was her first experience because video vixens get rejected regularly but they don’t call out the artistes involved. Tekno and I have kept quiet about it, but to be honest with you, it was never about the colour of her skin.

I was sad about the statement because I didn’t understand why she would go to that extent. As a man, don’t you have what you like in a girl? If you prefer slim ladies, does that mean fat ladies are bad? For almost four hours, we didn’t shoot because we were looking for someone who would fit what Tekno wanted,” he said.

On whether Tekno begged the model or tried to give her reasons for his action, Gambit said:

“If you are a top artiste like Tekno, would you apologise when the lady didn’t give you audience. It is easier for people to say Tekno did something wrong until you put yourself in his situation. When we sent her details to Tekno, he was not totally sure about using her.
He said he would conclude on the day of the shoot; so, it was not 100 per cent certain that she would play the lead role. She just wanted to make everyone feel that it was about her colour. The simple truth is that her beauty was not the type Tekno was looking for; it doesn’t mean he didn’t see any beauty in her. Tekno had his preference for the shoot. I am sure the girl cannot date all the guys that come her way. She will have her taste as well.”

Popstar Davido recently made another signing to his DMW imprint, this time producer, Fresh VDM.

Fresh, however, is not a newbie to the DMW crew having worked on several projects with some artists under the label.

He produced Davido’s 2017 hit single FIA and has notched a couple of hits under his belt this year with the likes of DJ ECool‘s Ada, DMW collaborative single Mind and Davido’s latest track Flora My Flawa.

Davido shared Fresh’s introductory video on his Instagram page and wrote;

Plain clothes policemen alleged to be from the Nigeria Police Force, Zone one in Kano state today ''abducted'' Abdullahi Musa Krishi, a Daily Trust newspaper Correspondent covering the House of Representatives at the National Assembly complex.

According to reports gathered from security sources, the journalist was forcefully arrested based on an alleged petition by the Jigawa state government to the police for an alleged defamation.

Abdullahi Musa Krishi, popularly known by his middle name, Musa, was subtly asked by one of the plain clothes policemen to provide a description only to end up being forcefully handcuffed and pushed into a waiting vehicle by the said cops before zooming off.

Efforts by his journalist-colleagues to prevent the forceful arrest proved abortive as all pleas for the policemen to provide a warrant of arrest, invitation letter or evidence of having informed Musa's office fell on deaf ears as he was dragged along into the waiting van.

Further investigation with top security officers in the National Assembly revealed that Musa is currently being taken to Kano by the policemen contrary to earlier insinuation that he was being taken to Force Headquarters in Abuja or Federal Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) at Area 10 in Abuja.

Efforts are ongoing by Daily Trust management to provide a lawyer to the abducted journalist in Kano when he appears before the Assistant Inspector General of Police incharge of Zone one.

One Miss Udoh Akpabio, who reportedly hid her phone in her pant to cheat in the ongoing Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), has been arrested by the operatives of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), alongside her accomplice.

Andrew Etziuzala was arrested for aiding Akpabio,in cheating in the examination which took place at Baptist Academy, Karu, FCT after they were nabbed with the aid of CCTV which sends live transmission of activities going on within the examination halls.

Confirming the arrest of the suspects, the FCT Commandant of the NSCDC, Patrick Ukpen, said Andrew, a student of Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa reportedly introduced Akpabio into the chain of cheating during examinations. It was gathered that while the examination was ongoing, he was sending text messages of supposed answers to the questions she was expected to answer.

Mr. Akpan said: “We have in our custody today two suspects that were involved in examination malpractice in the ongoing JAMB UTME. Their level of involvement are as follows, a lady whose name is, went into the exam hall with a telephone handset and this is against the rules covering the JAMB examination.

“She concealed the telephone set inside her panties and she went in un-detected and while the examination nation was going on, she brought it out.
“With the use of modern technology; you know the examination centres have CCTV cameras that are sending live transmission of activities that are taking place in the examination hall, and the activities of our men and other JAMB officials who were deployed to the centres, we were able to detect what she was doing and she was immediately arrested.
“Upon interrogation, we were also able to arrest her accomplice who is another young man by the name Andrew who introduced her into the business and was equally involved in sending text messages of supposedly answers to the examination she was doing.
“They are in our custody now and we are going to carry out further investigations regarding their involvement and to know if there are other accomplice, he will equally be traced and arrested and thereafter, they will be prosecuted in a law court.”

Premium Times reported that Andrew claimed the answers were generated by another member of the syndicate who is now at large, operating from a Business Centre in Jikwoyi.

According to Andrew, the suspect allegedly hacked into JAMB examination questions and generated answers which were forwarded to him, which he in turn forwarded to Akpabio in the examination hall.

Miss Akpabio, who confessed that she hid the phone to beat the security checks, said she applied to study Business Administration and had sat for JAMB for more than four times before now, without securing admission into any Tertiary Institution in the country.

She said: “I was caught with a phone in exam hall. Actually, I was about bringing out the phone to make use of it and they saw me.”

When asked if she was aware that she was not supposed to go into the examination hall with a phone, she said yes. “It was just an accident.”

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has declared a 29-year-old Nigerian wanted. Kess @ Kess Billions is suspected to be the leader of a robbery syndicate in Accra.
According to the police, Kess Billions led a gang of robbers to attack a forex bureau at Teshie and another company at Tema.

In a statement on Friday, the police said: “He is alleged to be the leader of a gang of armed robbers who, on 31/01/8 at about 8:30 am robbed a forex bureau at Teshie Tsuibleoo and made away with an unspecified amount of money.

The suspect also reportedly “led a gang of robbers to attack a company at Community ‘9’, Light Industrial Area on 6th February 2018 and took away colossal sums of money from his victims.”

According to the police, Kessn is suspected to be hiding in either Nigeria or Aflao, ated in Accra, Ghana.

Coca-Cola plans to launch its first ever alcoholic drink in Japan, in a suprising departure for a US company identified with cola and other non-alcoholic beverages.

While Coca-Cola dabbled in the wine business in the 1970s, the Japanese experiment is "unique" in the company's 125-year history, said Coca-Cola Japan president Jorge Garduno.

The new offering will be in Japan's growing "Chu-Hi" category of beverages, Garduno said in a recent interview posted to the company's website.

"This is a canned drink that includes alcohol; traditionally, it is made with a distilled beverage called shochu and sparkling water, plus some flavoring," he said.

Chu-Hi drinks come in a range of flavors such as grape, strawberry, kiwi and white peach and sometimes replace shochu with vodka.

The drink, which usually has between three and nine percent alcohol and is marketed by leading Japanese beverage companies such as Asahi, Kirin and Takara, is especially popular with young consumers and women.

"We haven't experimented in the low alcohol category before, but it's an example of how we continue to explore opportunities outside our core areas," Garduno said.

But Garduno said the launch of Chu-Hi drinks should not be seen as a harbinger of the company's intentions elsewhere.

"It makes sense to give this a try in our market," he said.

"But I don't think people around the world should expect to see this kind of thing from Coca-Cola. While many markets are becoming more like Japan, I think the culture here is still very unique and special, so many products that are born here will stay here."

Still, the push is part of a broader campaign by Coca-Cola to diversify beyond sodas at a time when consumers in the US and other developed markets are backing off sweet drinks and diet colas out of health concerns.

Leading non-cola products in the company's portfolio include Honest tea, Dasani bottled water, the flavored Vitamin Water and the Powerade sports drink.

Coca-Cola in 1977 sought to diversify into wine, purchasing Taylor Wines of New York and establishing Wine Spectrum that comprised Sterling Vineyards and Monterey Vineyard.

But Coca-Cola exited the venture six years later, selling Spectrum for $200 million.

Britain will build a new wing at Kirikiri Prison in the Nigerian city of Lagos so that it can transfer Nigerian prisoners there, the government in London has announced.

The new 112-bed wing, which will cost 700,000 pounds ($973,000) and be compliant with United Nations standards, will make it easier for Britain to comply with a prisoner transfer agreement it signed with Nigeria in 2014.

Under that deal, eligible prisoners serving criminal sentences in Nigeria and Britain can be returned to complete their sentences in their respective countries. The British government did not indicate how many prisoners might be moved or when the project is likely to be completed.

Nigerian prisons -- many of them built by British colonisers more than 100 years ago -- are severely overcrowded, leading to the spread of diseases. The government in Abuja has said it is developing a strategy to tackle the issue.

Britain's own prison system has been showing signs of severe strain in recent years, with overcrowding, rising suicide rates and a growing problem with drug trafficking and other crimes within jails that were sometimes built in the Victorian era.

Kirikiri is not one of the oldest prisons in Nigeria but it does date back to colonial times.

Last month, the government said the prison in the southern city of Port Harcourt, which was originally designed to hold 800 prisoners, currently has nearly 5,000. It said 3,700 of them had been awaiting trial for more than five years.

In a written statement to parliament, British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson said tenders had been placed and a supplier identified to conduct the building work at Kirikiri. He did not name the supplier.

The project will be funded from Britain's Conflict, Stability and Security Fund, which has an annual budget of more than 1 billion pounds and aims to commission projects that can help prevent conflicts and stabilise countries or regions.

Wife of the President, Mrs. Aisha Muhammadu Buhari, has charged Boko Haram terrorists and other perpetrators of abductions and various harmful practices against women and girls to “leave our daughters alone”.

She was speaking during an event to mark the 2018 International Women’s Day, on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at the National Center for Women Development, Abuja.

Mrs. Buhari observed that for Nigeria, the day must be marked with a difference considering the sad incidence of the abduction of girls, especially the case of Chibok and Dapchi, which must take the national spotlight.

“As a mother, I share the sorrow and agony of the parents at this time, it is my sincere hope that efforts by government will soon lead to their release.” She said.

She introduced a local theme tagged “Leave our daughters alone” which she said, is a strong call for the end of abductions, charging the media to own the campaign and spread message.

She also charged wives of the Governors to propagate the campaign in their various states, stating that the message must echo through all corners of Nigeria and be on everyone’s lips.

“Leave our daughters alone, leave our daughters alone, leave our daughters alone” she charged.

Speaking earlier, wife of the Vice President, Mrs. Dolapo Osinbajo, while congratulating women as they celebrate the special day, said it is sad that Nigerian women were witnessing the worst of times because of many negative things that are happening; she however noted that at the same they are also witnessing the best of times in many respects. This is because there are many good stories happening around women.

Director-General of the National Center for Women Development, Barrister Mary Ekpere-Eta, said this year, there was an unprecedented global movement for women’s rights, equality and justice. She said sexual harassment, violence and discrimination against women has captured public discourse, propelled by a rising determination for change, which she noted were instrumental to the declaration by the Wife of the President on the harmful practices affecting women and girls in Nigeria.

She drew attention to the plight of rural women, who despite their hard work lack basic infrastructure and services, decent work and social protection, and are left more vulnerable to the effects of climate change. She called for urgent action to reverse this trend and ensure better life for the rural women.

Policemen attached to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad in Rivers State have allegedly battered a man for failing to provide a receipt for a phone found on him.


According to a viral video posted on Instablog9ja, the incident reportedly occurred in Port Harcourt and was captured by an eyewitness in the area.

Three policemen could be seen beating one man identified as Lucky by the eyewitness who recorded the video.

One SARS official was also seen battering the hapless man with a machete.

The witness whose identity could not be ascertained, alleged in the footage that Lucky was battered because he failed to produce a receipt for his phone when he was accosted by the policemen.

He was said to have been freed after the intervention of some old men in the area and a payment of N30,000 to the officials.

When contacted, the Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Nnamdi Omoni, told Punch correspondent that though he would not support any act contrary to the law, the police would begin investigation on the story trending online.

Omoni explained that part of the investigation would unravel the identity of the persons in SARS uniform and the point where the incident happened.

“I have seen it (trending online story), but it is not too clear to me. Much as I cannot defend them; I cannot shield anybody, you cannot conclusively say they are men of SARS until we do a little investigation to ascertain their identity.

“I cannot shield any police officer who commits an offence, but you cannot conclusively say they are SARS until it is proven otherwise.”

In a new bill by the Senate, any person found guilty of any form of hate speech that results in the death of another person shall die by hanging upon conviction.

A porn star sued President Donald Trump on Tuesday to declare a "hush agreement" over their alleged affair invalid because he never signed it, documents say.
Los Angeles lawyer Michael Avenatti posted on his Twitter account a copy of what appears to be the suit filed on behalf of the porn star who goes by the name Stormy Daniels. Her real name is Stephanie Clifford.

The hush agreement does "not exist, because, among other things, Mr Trump never signed" the document with a Superior Court of California stamp, the suit says.

It alleges she had an intimate relationship with Trump from 2006 to 2007, which she sought to reveal after Trump won the Republican Party nomination for president and other women claimed to have had sexual encounters with him.

With help from his lawyer Michael Cohen, Trump then sought to "aggressively... silence Ms Clifford as part of an effort to avoid her telling the truth, thus helping to ensure he won the presidential election," the document says.

Cohen prepared a non-disclosure agreement, a copy of which is attached to the lawsuit and which required a $130,000 payment to be wired from a company known as Essential Consultants LLC to Clifford in return for her silence, according to the documents.

Using the pseudonyms Peggy Peterson and David Dennison, Clifford and Trump were to sign the agreement, along with Essential Consultants.

Days before the November 2016 presidential election which Trump won, Clifford put her name to the document, as did Cohen for Essential Consultants, it says.

"Mr. Trump, however, did not sign the agreement, thus rendering it legally null and void and of no consequence," the document adds.

Cohen told US media last month that he paid Clifford $130,000, prompting her manager to suggest a non-disclosure agreement had been broken.

Cohen declined to give details such as why he made the payment, or if Trump was aware of it at the time.

"Neither the Trump Organization nor the Trump campaign was a party to the transaction with Ms Clifford, and neither reimbursed me for the payment, either directly or indirectly," Cohen said, according to the New York Times.

Trump declined to comment on the issue. The White House has dodged questions about whether allegations of an affair are true, claiming the matter was dealt with during the campaign.

Cohen's comments came after the watchdog group Common Cause filed a federal complaint in January arguing that the payout may have violated campaign finance rules.

A neurosurgeon has been suspended after four Kenyan medics cut open the skull of the wrong patient at Kenyatta National Hospital in Nairobi.


One patient needed surgery on a blood clot on the brain, the other only non-invasive treatment for swelling.

But a horrifying mix-up of identification tags saw the wrong man wheeled into theatre, reports say.

The doctors did not realise their mistake until "hours into the surgery, when they discovered there was no blood clot", the Daily Nation reported.

The head of the Kenyatta National Hospital said the patient was "in recovery and progressing well".

Social media users have expressed shock that such an incident could have been allowed to happen.

It comes only six weeks after the health minister ordered an investigation into claims new mothers were sexually assaulted at the same hospital.

'Patient in recovery'

Hospital CEO Lily Koros said the hospital "deeply regrets this event and has done all it can to ensure the safety and well-being of the patient in question.

"We are happy to inform the public that the patient is in recovery and progressing well," Mrs Koros added.

She said four staff - the neurosurgeon, ward nurse, theatre receiving nurse and anaesthetist - had been suspended.

"The management has suspended the admission rights of a neurosurgery registrar and issued him with a show-cause letter for apparently operating on the wrong patient," Ms Koros said. A show-cause letter requires a staff member account for his or her actions.

But the doctor's colleagues have protested the suspension, reports The Star, arguing it should be the person who put on the identification tag that should be punished.

The Nation goes on to report that - "in a miracle of some sort" - the two patients are in good condition. It adds that the one who had a clot might not need to undergo surgery after all after his condition improved significantly.
