FamilyNigerian Asked To Prepay For His Meal In Canada To Be Paid $10,000 By Restaurant by TalkTalkTwins(op): 2:44am On May 03, 2018

The Ontario Human Rights Tribunal has ordered a Toronto restaurant to pay a black customer $10,000 Canadian dollars for racially discriminating against him and his friends.

Emile Wickham was celebrating his 28th birthday with three friends when the group decided to grab a bite at Hong Shing Chinese Restaurant on May 3, 2014.
The four were the only black patrons in the restaurant, Wickham said, and they were stunned when the waiter demanded they pay before they were served
When the group complained, they were told it was policy, according to their testimony.
"I still felt skeptical, so then I approached other tables," Wickham told CNN. No one else he spoke with had been asked to prepay, he said.
"There was frustration initially. And that frustration turned into a feeling of dejection and sadness," he said.

The restaurant's response
Nearly a year after the incident, Wickham, who is originally from Nigeria, could not stop thinking about what happened.
As the anniversary approached, he filed a complaint with the Human Rights Tribunal.
The restaurant said it had seen an influx of dine-and-dash incidents, and that it asked customers who weren't "regulars" to prepay, according to the ruling.
But adjudicator Esi Codjoe said she found no evidence such a policy was real. Earlier this month, she ruled the restaurant had racially profiled the students.

It says it will appeal
In a statement shared with CNN, Hong Shing Chinese Restaurant expressed deep concern over the situation and highlighted that management has since changed.
"There are a number of sensitivities and considerations about this situation, and for that reason, the tribunal outcome is under appeal by legal representatives.
"At this time we cannot comment further, beyond emphasizing that the current owner and staff are dedicated to be a committed, inclusive and responsible member of the community."
Wickham said he will continue to fight his case if needed.
"It happens in our daily life, work life, social activity," he said.
"The average Canadian never calls themselves racist, but if a significant part of the population have legitimate stories of being discriminated against, this has to be seen beyond the scope of a restaurant claim."

Nairaland GeneralBoy Scout Nigeria Changes Name After Agreeing To Accept Girls by TalkTalkTwins(op): 2:30am On May 03, 2018

Boy Scouts of America announced in a press release on Wednesday, May 2nd that “Scouts BSA” will be the new name of the program for older boys and girls, “to ensure all youth are welcome and can see themselves in scouting.” This announcement coincides with the organizations latest campaign, “Scout Me In” that features girls, as well as boys, in the Cub Scout program.

“Cub Scouts is a lot of fun, and now it’s available to all kids,” said Stephen Medlicott, National Marketing Group Director of Boy Scouts of America. “That’s why we love ‘Scout Me In’ – because it speaks to girls and boys and tells them, ‘This is for you. We want you to join!’”

According to the press release, more than 3,000 girls across the nation have already enrolled and are participating in Cub Scouts and Scouts BSA ahead of the full launch later this year.

“As we enter a new era for our organization, it is important that all youth can see themselves in Scouting in every way possible. That is why it is important that the name for our Scouting program for older youth remain consistent with the single name approach used for the Cub Scouts,” said Michael Surbaugh, Chief Scout Executive of the Boy Scouts of America. “Starting in February 2019, the name of the older youth program will be ‘Scouts BSA,’ and the name of our iconic organization will continue to be Boy Scouts of America.”

CNN reports that the more than 100-year-old organization has voted to welcome girls into its Cub Scout program and to allow older girls to pursue a path to Eagle Scouthood.

In a statement, the BSA said, "The historic decision comes after years of receiving requests from families and girls. The organization evaluated the results of numerous research efforts, gaining input from current members and leaders, as well as parents and girls who've never been involved in Scouting—to understand how to offer families an important additional choice in meeting the character development needs of all their children."

It's an interesting move after the highly publicized tension between the Boy and Girl Scouts. Especially given the timing of the announcement on International Day of the Girl. Just recently, the GSA issued a terse statement chiding the BSA for going after its female recruits. Kathy Hopinkah Hannan, the president of the G.S.A., had written a letter to her counterpart Randall Stephenson at the B.S.A., which said, in part, "I formally request that your organization stay focused on serving the 90 percent of American boys not currently participating in Boy Scouts."

It seems the boys didn't listen.

In response, the Girl Scouts tweeted out a strong message that talks up its strengths versus the Boy Scouts.

The GSA also pointed to its prestigious Gold Award in a second tweet, noting it's only available to Girl Scouts.

It's worth noting that the decision to welcome girls into its ranks doesn't mean the BSA is now going to be completely inclusive. In a statement the organization explained, "Cub Scout dens will be single-gender—all boys or all girls." Which seems to maybe, possibly defeat the purpose of taking gender out of the membership equation. But that's just my take.

In the end, I agree with the part of the BSA's statement that says, "Families today are busier and more diverse than ever. Most are dual-earners and there are more single-parent households than ever before, making convenient programs that serve the whole family more appealing."

Less driving and coordinating of schedules? I'm on board.

HealthMom Used Youtube To Deliver Her Own Baby In A Hotel Room Abroad by TalkTalkTwins(op): 2:04am On May 03, 2018
Every now and then, women have learned that they're expecting way late in the game. Like third trimester late. That's how it went down for Tia Freeman, whose Twitter thread about her unexpected pregnancy—and self-delivery!—is now going viral. Freeman took to the social media site to explain how she learned that she didn't learn she was pregnant until well into the nine months, and on March 7, she used YouTube to help her deliver her own baby. Thank goodness for the internet!

Freeman told SELF that she noticed she was developing a round belly around mid-January. "This was the first indication that I may be pregnant," she shared, adding that she gained less than 20 pounds during the entire pregnancy. “I didn’t even begin to notice [any weight gain] until around December, but because I hadn’t been to the gym in forever I thought that was pretty typical and didn’t think anything of it."

She was "in denial," had already bought tickets to fly to Germany, and decided to go through with the trip. But she started to have cramps on the flight. “I just knew I had food poisoning. Y’all I was HURT,” she tweeted. Freeman went on to share in her tweets that she decided to try to sleep it off, but when she woke up and went through customs in Istanbul, Turkey due to a 17-hour layover, the cramps were worse.

"I’m literally gripping the railing trying to make it through the lines,” she wrote on her Twitter thread. “At this point I feel like I’m about to pass out. I’m sweating. I feel like I have to vomit. I’m going through it. Then I’m like wait a minute bitch are you in labor?!!!”

The mom-to-be got to her hotel in Istanbul, but upon realizing that she may have to deal with a language barrier and was concerned about how her "insurance would work overseas" and "the fact that [the baby] was coming too quickly," she made the decision to give birth at her hotel. And to use YouTube for assistance.

Former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri, has reacted to a statement credited to the President of the United States of America (USA), Donald Trump over the killing of Christians in Nigeria.

Trump had during the bilateral meeting with Buhari said the US government would not accept the killing of Christians in Nigeria.

“We have had very serious problems with Christians who are being murdered in Nigeria, we are going to be working on that problem very, very hard because we cannot allow that to happen,” Trump said.

Reating, Omokri hailed Trump for bringing up the issue of killing of Christians by herdsmen.

The former presidential aide described it as the best thing Trump said to Buhari.

Omokri tweeted “‘Nigerian herdsmen DO NOT carry AK-47s’- Buhari to Donald Trump. Is this the man you want to reelect? Thank God Trump told Buhari that the US won’t accept the killings of Nigerian Christians by radical Muslim groups and herdsmen.

“Buhari is certainly doing nothing to stop that! The best thing Trump said to Buhari is this- ‘We have had very serious problems with Christians who are being murdered in Nigeria, we are going to be working on that problem very, very hard because we cannot allow that to happen’. GOD BLESS DONALD TRUMP.”

Arsene Wenger has revealed how his successor would feel about Arsenal players after their 2-1 loss to Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday.

The Frenchman also said his players were not happy losing the game to Jose Mourinhio’s side and expressed their anger in the dressing room.

Wenger said his players were ‘distraught’ in the dressing room after their last-gasp 2-1 defeat to the Red Devils.

In what could be his final game at Old Trafford, Wenger fielded a makeshift side which included 20-year-old debutant Konstantinos Mavropanos, Reiss Nelson and Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

The Gunners went a goal down through Paul Pogba’s strike in the 15th minute but Henrikh Mkhitaryan netted an equaliser in the second half.

Wenger’s men appeared on course to secure a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford before Marouane Fellaini came on in the second half to scored in injury time.

“We had a very young team, and overall the performance was positive,’ said Wenger.

“The players are distraught in the dressing room because they gave everything and were caught in the final minute of the game.

“There were many question marks before the game – will we be strong enough to fight with Manchester United today?

“I must say, the quality of our game was good, the spirit was good, individually many players stood up to what was requested.’

“My successor will watch this game today. Hopefully he will come to positive conclusions of the players.

“Can they be part of the future for Arsenal Football Club? I think some of them have shown today, yes, 100 per cent.”

Christianity EtcMuslims Call For Joint Protest With Christians Over Incessant Killings by TalkTalkTwins(op): 1:04pm On Apr 30, 2018
https://dailypost.ng/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/Nigerian-Muslims.jpg

The Muslim Rights Concern, MURIC, has suggested that a joint protest by Christians and Muslims against the incessant killings going on in parts of the country be organized.

While commending the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, over the peaceful nature of protests held over killings in the country, MURIC said that the bloodshed was not limited to only Christians.

A statement made available on Monday and signed by its Director, Professor Ishaq Akintola, suggested that a joint protest by both faiths would have been more appropriate.

“The Muslim Rights Concern, MURIC, acknowledges the rights of groups to express themselves in a democratic setting. We also commend the Christian protesters for conducting themselves peacefully. We affirm clearly, categorically and unequivocally that life is sacred and no Nigerian citizen, whether Christian or Muslim, deserves to be killed.

“However, we reaffirm our earlier position that Christians have not been the only victims of the killings around the country. Muslims are losing hundreds of faithful on a monthly basis in the North East as Boko Haram unleashes terror on the predominantly Muslim populace. 36 Muslims were killed in Birane Village in Zurmi Local Council, Zamfara State on February 16, 2018. Six Muslims were killed in Jidari Polo area of Maiduguri on April 26, 2018,” the statement explained.

The group argued that just on Sunday, some Muslims lost their lives.

“Even yesterday, Sunday 29th April, 2018, another 15 Muslims were killed in Bawon-Daji village, in Anka District of Zamfara.

“Again, more than 12 Muslims were waylaid and killed in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, when the corpses of the two priests killed in the Benue church attack were brought to the city. These are verifiable attacks by those free of the ‘lazymania’ virus.

“So the question arises: why kill innocent Muslim travellers when peaceful protests were already being planned? The pointable point is that we are all victims. Both Christians and Muslims have lost their members to criminals and blood-thirsty elements of our country.

“Meaningful impact could have been made if both Christians and Muslims held a joint protest against the failure of government to stem the tide of killings.

“That would make it impossible for observers to read meanings into yesterday’s protest. It would stop questions like, Why are they demonstrating now? Is it because Buhari is a Muslim? Why didn’t they protest when Jonathan was in power? Were there no killings in Jonathan’s time? Do they want to bring Buhari’s government down?

“Who is doing the killings? Who are the culprits? Boko Haram insurgents, infiltrators from Libya, ISIS, local militiamen and certain disgruntled and unpatriotic elements who are keen on causing instability and discrediting this administration are top on our list of suspects.

“Before we are accused of academic escapism in a season of ‘lazymania’, a little research will reveal that no matter how much this administration tries, it cannot overcome all the security challenges facing the country at the moment, particularly if it continues to rely on the resources presently at its disposal. Any politician promising something else is deceiving Nigerians.

“The truth of the matter is that Nigeria as at today lacks the wherewithal to fight insecurity of this dimension. The United Nations recommends at least one policeman to every 499 persons. Yet with a population of 193 million people, Nigeria has just 317,000 policemen, about 100,000 soldiers and approximately 33,000 men of the Department of Secret Services (DSS). This is far below expectation.

“It explains why the army had to deploy thousands of its men from the troubled North East to the South East when the Biafra debacle erupted about a year ago. Then came crisis in Plateau State, followed by the herdsmen saga in Taraba and the armed militia imbroglio in Benue. Zamfara was on fire. Kaduna was burning and the same military had to draft its men there. It puts the few soldiers we have under pressure and it also explains why Boko Haram insurgents have not been totally wiped out. All these crises have caused expensive distractions,” MURIC asserted.

It suggested that the way forward was for all patriotic citizens to join hands with the government in its quest for a peaceful society.

The statement explained, “Let us allow peace to reign in other parts of the country so that the military can concentrate on Boko Haram. This is the time for religious leaders to eschew acrobatic religiosity. It is the time for the citizenry to abandon gymnastic ethnicity. We must announce a ceasefire across Nigeria and embrace one another.

“Still on the panacea to insecurity in our dear country, MURIC supports peaceful protests to pressurize government to employ more security operatives. Si vis pacem para bellum (i.e. if you want peace, prepare for war), at least an additional 200,000 policemen, 50,000 soldiers and 15,000 men of the secret police must be recruited in the next few months if the Federal Government is serious about overcoming the present security challenges.

“In addition, sophisticated weapons and modern communication gadgets must be procured for our security agents so that they can be better prepared to face the battle ahead.”

Recalled that the president of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, on Wednesday, 25th April, 2018, called on its members across the country to hold demonstrations after church service on Sunday over killings across the country, especially in the Middle Belt region.

As a result of the call, Christians in Lagos, Akure, Osogbo and Ado-Ekiti and other parts of the country held peaceful protests on Sunday, 29th May, 2018.

TV/MoviesBBNaija: Ebuka Reveals How Housemates Were Picked by TalkTalkTwins(op): 6:43am On Apr 29, 2018
https://dailypost.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/Ebuka.png

Big Brother Naija 2018 host, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu has revealed how housemates were chosen on the just concluded reality show.

Ebuka in an Interview with BeatFM said housemates were picked based on their different characters.

He said contrary to rumours that Tobi was picked because he worked with Heritage bank, the sponsors of the reality show were not part of the auditions and they could not have chosen housemates.

Ebuka said, ”housemates were picked for different reasons. Khloe for example was picked for drama, Vandora was a happy girl.

”It is not all about talent, you never know what they are looking for in the audition.

”There will be a drama person, a happy person, housemates’ characters are mixed.

”So, if for example 2 dramatic persons have been picked already, they will move to the next character.

”They have a template of what they want from housemates, it depends on them.

“The auditioners also realized that some housemates try so hard to be someone else in the house; maybe they got intimated by other characters or they tried so hard to be what they are not in the audition.”

Ebuka, however, advised prospective housemates for 2019 to be themselves.

CelebritiesStar Actress, Fiberesima Ibinabo Finally Opens Up On Killing Dr. Giwa by TalkTalkTwins(op): 6:33am On Apr 29, 2018
https://dailypost.ng/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/Ibinabo-Fiberesima-sworn-in-as-AGN-president1.jpg

Nollywood actress, Ibinabo Fiberesima has finally opened up on the death of a medical doctor, Suraj Giwa after 12 years.

Ibinabo had killed the medical doctor in a fatal accident that sent her into coma for days.

She was charged for manslaughter and sent to Kirikiri female prison.

Ibinabo in a lengthy post on Instagram, told her story to US-based journalist, Azuka Jebose.

She wrote on Instagram:

“I need to tell my story. I stayed silent for so long and watched as my life, character and person were being ruined in published reports, including social media. This is my story, told for the first time on social media platform.

“My heart has never stopped aching. It will not. An accident took the life of someone. I am forever in mourning because of this. Two families’ lives have been changed forever with this unfortunate fatal accident. It was an accident. Dr. Suraj Giwa didn’t have to die. I wished I could bring him back. I am sorry for the pains caused.

“I have also been maligned and disparaged in the media: I am a monster. I am a killer and a murderer, I am a drunk… No. Azuka. I am none of these.
I am just another human being that was in a deadly accident and the accident caused the death of Dr. Suraj Giwa.

“It’s been 12 years of heartache, pain and depression for me. My eyes are rivers of tears.
Some days I feel like killing myself. Life has no meaning to me.

“I think about Dr. Giwa every day. I pray for his soul and I pray and seek forgiveness from his family for the pain and agony. I am very sorry.

“It didn’t have to happen. I wished I knew it would happen that unfortunate day, I would not have travelled that road. I was not drunk that day.
Azuka, I was driving along Lekki road, returning home after picking up a friend’s daughter from a church Fellowship. Suddenly, a red car overtook the SUV in front of me.

“The SUV was travelling slowly, so I shifted to its front, too. The red vehicle was being driven by a young man and had his friends with him…I drove past the red car. I think that might have angered the young chap because he swiftly sped from behind, drove past me and made a sudden stop in my front.

“I tried to avoid hitting those boys in the red car. I swerved and lost control in that moment, the impact dived my vehicle into inbound lane.. Dr. Giwa was inbound, thus he drove into my car and both cars collided. I collapsed and passed out.. Three days later, I WOKE UP IN A HOSPITAL bed to learn what had happened.

“I was weak, sore and in pains. I could not move my legs. I had been sedated for three days. Doctors said they had to sedate me to numb my pain. Meanwhile, the police had been informed that I was in that hospital. The Lagos State Police came to the hospital to take my statement of what happened. After I gave them my statement, I was arrested at the hospital and charged to court.

“At my court appearance for hearing, the judge noticed how sick, weak, incoherent an disoriented I was: he also saw my injuries. He ordered that I should be sent back to the hospital for further treatment until I was well enough to stand trial. I could not walk then.

“Later at the hospital, I woke up from coma and to reality. I was afraid and shocked. I could not believe I was involved in an accident that had taken a life. I was like: Wow!..Someone died in that accident. Oh my God!

“I didn’t know the family. While I was in the hospital my family contacted the family of Late dr. Giwa who died in the accident. My family was there for the funeral and did everything during the mourning season. I was afraid. But I met them in court and tried to approach them.

“I understood the anger and pain I had caused them, so I accepted their anger toward me….his sister was really angry at me… I wanted to talk to her… it was hard for me to get close to her… I understood all these: the pain and distress they felt as a result of the accident. I felt their pain. I wanted to tell them how sorry and remorseful I was… It was an accident. I did not intend to wake up that morning, went out and had a fatal collision.

“Weeks later, I was arraigned. I attended all my court appearances. During the process I visited the family and attempted several times to make peace. I never ignored them. I am always sorry. I know the pain is tough, so I understood their anger but I kept begging. I am sorry. I did not intend to wake up that morning, went out and had a fatal collision.

I had gone to so many good people and friends to assist me in pleading for forgiveness from the family. One of such friends is late Iyalode of Lagos.

“She assisted me in begging the Giwa family: when I became well and able to walk, she took me to The former Imam of Lagos and the Present Oba of Lagos: these traditional and religious leaders begged on my behalf, pleading with the family for forgiveness and showed how sorry and remorseful I was that the accident happened. I never ran away from the scene of the accident. I was unconscious.

“How could an unconscious accident victim remove plate license and registration papers from the vehicle as reported in the media? Why would I do a thing like that? How could I have done a thing like that?

“I became a monster in the eyes of everyone. So I thought suicide was the best option to end all these and find peace for my family and Dr. Giwa’s family. I lost myself. I was no longer Ibinabo. I didn’t know who I was. I became a stranger to myself and my family, afraid of life and living, scarred by and scared of human beings.

“I withdrew and became clinically depressed.
I could not take care of my children. I was dying. I was dying. Life had no meaning to me. I became a lonely zombie: a mother that could not care for her children, distressed, disturbed and severely depressed.
I was sent to Kirikiri female Prison. I wanted to die there. I accepted to end it.

“But one preacher came to the prison and preached to us. It was like he was talking to me. During his sermon, I fainted… I was revived by prisoners that attended the service. When I woke up, I was soaked in water and the prisoners gathered around me… I asked what happened and they told me I had Passed out during the service.

“That opened my eyes. I asked myself then: Ibinabo, do you really want to die?. I said no. I must turn my life to purpose driven, to rescue the weak and helped those that society had turned against.. I held onto God. I told Him it was up to Him. I didn’t want to see any lawyer again, I had no money. My family bailed me out after three months and three days…. I came out to pursue the appeal.

“I was living my simple life…I engaged in works with youths in my village. I enjoy spending time in my town. They know me there. They love me there… I was on my way to a funeral when my lawyer called me.. Earlier the previous day, I called to inform him I would be out of town and hoped the appeal date would not be scheduled while I was out of town.

“He said no. I told him I didn’t want the court to think I jumped bail… He called me on my way to the funeral, the next day and said the court date was actually that morning. I had to hurry back to court.
I lost the appeal. I was shocked.
My lawyer did not understand what was going on. That day, I was taken back to Kirikiri maximum security prison… that was 2016.

“While at Kirikiri, I discovered I had a lump in my breast. I had to do surgery… when I was released, I went to the village so that I would not breakdown and collapse into depression again…
Yes I want to serve my people.. I want to be positive and impact people’s lives. And yes, Azuka, I remember that this sad situation is still here…
I do not know who else to talk to.

“I do not know what else to do. I need help…
The family sued me for N200Million in a civil case…
Where will I get that money from?. So we have been negotiating to see where we can get to, so I can begin making payment by installment.

“We have agreed to settle out of court… we are not there yet. It’s a process… Though I have appealed this case to the Supreme Court, what is important to me now is making peace with the family: that is more important because it will heal me… his family and I would have peace.

“Azuka I am not a bad person. I do not know what else to do. People think I am a murderer. I am not. I am not. Azuka, free me….Free me… It was an unfortunate accident. I didn’t do it intentionally. That’s all I have been begging.
I have begged…I do not know what to do…I am truly sorry it happened.

“I am not running for any political office. My people wanted me. A group of youths from my place asked me to run for office, I said no. They went and printed poster and placed it on social media. So I endorsed it.

“Eventually, I must live. I have to do things to my fulfillment, to what God wants me to do; to be able to help youths help people generally… Life in Okrika is not easy… I need to help the youths believe in themselves… they are aching.. In my region, simple things of life are a struggle to get.

“I need to change their mindset that there is alternative way to Life… I have become a seeker of peace for my people… Life hasn’t been a bed of roses… But I must deal with this issue. I seek forgiveness from the family and peace of mind. I need to find closure and peace.… I am not a killer… I care too much… I am a caring person. I put myself in the shoes of Giwa’s family and I can understand their pains. I am very sorry for the loss of life of Dr. Giwa. I am. I am not arrogant.

“I never, ever said to his family that I would not offer public apology.

“I was offered to do a public service announcement across country with regards to Driving While Impaired. I said if I did that, it then meant I accepted I was drunk when I drove my car. I wasn’t drunk. I would do anything but that. I wasn’t drunk… they assumed because I owned a night club in the past, so I must be an alcoholic.
This is exactly the truth. It’s not fair to admit that I was drunk.

“The police did not arrest me for drunk driving.. The court never charged me with drunk driving.. There were reckless and dangerous driving charges.
Those were what I was charged by the court…. I was not charged with manslaughter.
Not murder.

“My pains through the years include: Bouts of depression Attempted suicide I Had surgeries in my breast to remove lumps. I cannot do a lot. This unfortunate experience has affected my job prospects. I am unemployable I have stopped acting for a while. I just do charity works.. I am not flamboyant.. Dear Nigeria, I am sorry. I will forever regret what happened.

“Giwa was a father, husband and son. He was the sole and soul provider of his family. I feel terrible he died during an accident which I was involved. I feel really bad. I am sorry. I need prayers. Please pray for me and the soul of Giwa and his family.
I know I have found God through this experience. But I still need help.

“I am receiving therapy for my depression and suicidal thoughts… I am able to share these with you.. I am healing… one moment at a time..I am not a killer. I am not a murderer. I am not an alcoholic. I did not drive while intoxicated. I was involved in an accident that resulted in death and for that I am very sorry. I have had periods of feeling miserable in the last 12years as a result of this accident. I need to find peace. I seek forgiveness. I am sorry. Thank you.”

PoliticsMass Exodus Hits APC As 5,000 Members Decamp To PDP In Bayelsa by TalkTalkTwins(op): 6:15am On Apr 29, 2018
About 5,000 members, including 59 chieftains of the All Progressive Congress (APC) from the eight local government councils of Bayelsa State have defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The defectors cited confusion, lack of focus and no desirable agenda for the Ijaw people, as the reasons for their decision.

Governor Henry Seriake Dickson, who accompanied leaders of the PDP to receive the returnees at the party secretariat in Yenagoa, said the APC had shown to Nigerians and the Ijaw people that it had no agenda to make progress possible.

As regards the 2019 elections, Dickson assured party members not to panic as the PDP remained intact and would ensure the defeat of the APC in Bayelsa state.

He said “The PDP government in Bayelsa state under my watch has placed the state on the path of peace, prosperity, and development. Bayelsans are happy with the party. The PDP is the only party that has a developmental agenda for the Ijaw people.

“What we do in PDP is to strategise to win elections and after elections we work for the development of our people because we are politics to serve our people. The other party comes to kill our people because they lack vision; they have no agenda for our people expect to destroy what our founding fathers have built and what our government is consolidating. Any person who is deceived to contest election in 2019 on another platform other than the PDP will still lose because only PDP can win election in Bayelsa state”

Chairman of Bayelsa State chapter of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Hon Moses Cloepas, said only the party had the capacity to defeat Federal might as it did in 2016 when Governor Henry Seriake Dickson was re-elected against all odds.

According to him in 2019, the Chairman said PDP will re-enact its winning streak by sweeping the polls to demonstrate that Bayelsa was wholly a PDP state.

He said: “Bayelsa PDP is invincible. No force can defeat us. The APC deployed all the repressive apparatus to capture Bayelsa by hook or crook in 2016 but we deployed People’s power to re-elect Governor Seriake Dickson, a performing Governor, a visionary leader and leader of the party in the state. All of you returning to the party are welcome. You won’t suffer any loss or discrimination.”

Politics2019: INEC To Train Corps Members On Use Of Card Reader by TalkTalkTwins(op): 3:48am On Apr 28, 2018
https://saharareporters.com/sites/default/files/styles/normal_medium/public/vote.jpg?itok=nQK69FCp

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said that it will begin to train corps members on how to operate the smart card readers in preparation for the 2019 election.

Mr. Sam Olumekun, INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in Lagos, made this known when he paid a courtesy visit to the National Orientation Agency (NOA) and the orientation camp of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in the state.

Olumekun explained that card readers failed to function properly because they were not handled properly.

He said that if there is going to be an improvement in the performance of the 2015 elections, electoral officers must be kept abreast of the latest development in technology.

A statement by INEC spokesperson in Lagos, Femi Akinbiyi quoted the REC as saying at NYSC camp: "This time around, we want to devote time to educate the Corps members during their Community Development (CD) activities at various Local governments".

He commended the State coordinator of NYSC, Prince Mohammed Momoh for his good works.

The REC also beckoned on National Orientation Agency (NOA) to join hands in encouraging citizens to get their permanent voter cards.

He said, "I want the NOA to especially join the Commission in mobilizing eligible for voters who have abandoned their Permanent voter cards (PVC) to come and claim them."

"The Commission is ready to partner with NOA and other stakeholders in our drive to deliver credible, transparent, free and fair elections in 2019.

"INEC has developed an election project plan and strategic plan of action and has itemized all we need to conduct successful free and fair elections.

"If the last election was rated very high by both local and international observers, we are prepared to deliver a more credible one in 2019 to surpass the previous achievement."

Politics#lazynigerianyouths APC Chieftain, Igbokwe Gives 10 Reasons Buhari’s Remark by TalkTalkTwins(op): 4:59pm On Apr 21, 2018
@TalkTalkTwins

https://dailypost.ng/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/Joe-Igbokwe.jpg
Joe Igbokwe, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has thrown his weight behind the statement allegedly made by President Muhammadu Buhari that a lot Nigerian youths prefer to sit and not work.

Buhari, while speaking at the Commonwealth Business Forum in London few days ago, had said most Nigerian youths want everything free without doing anything.

Supporting Buhari’s remark, Igbokwe insisted that some Nigerian youths are actually lazy.

In a Facebook post, the publicity secretary of the APC in Lagos said youths now prefer “Okada business, yahoo yahoo and begging” to learning a trade that will take them years to perfect.

Igbokwe wrote” “10 REASONS WHY I INSIST SOME NIGERIAN YOUTHS ARE LAZY.

“A research carried out at NNAMDI Azikiwe University Awka Anambra State found out that Students spend more time doing some funny things on the Internet than focusing on their books.

“In the 90s I had some two Children of close family members in my house. They were about writing their WEAC Exams but I didn’t see them for one day reading for the exams. When I confronted them they said ‘ Uncle do not worry we will pass’ They ‘passed’ and today they are ‘graduates’ but I know they are not.

“Today in Nigeria if you want a good carpenter, Tiler or POP man you need to get the Togolese, Camerounians, Ghanaians to do the job.

“I have met Mothers who are ready to give anything including their bodies for their Children to get admission into Universities and even to pass common entrance exams.

“For years I have pleaded with some of the young people I know to go to learn a trade and even when I succeeded in getting them places to learn something they usually run away to go and continue to beg.

“I have met many of our young people who said they went to university and when you engage them you will discover instantly that they are fake graduates who are not employable and yet they will tell you there are no jobs.

“One of my brothers spent good money to get his wife who claimed to be a graduate a teaching appointment. He pushed and pushed until one day he was invited by the man who wants to help him. My brother was shocked to the marrows when the man told him that the woman should return to class one in Secondary School and that she knows nothing.

“In the South East today hundreds of young men have been brutally killed in drug related offenses in South Africa, Thailand, Malaysia and other Countries. Some sell their Kidnies to raise money. Give these young men a job of 200k a month they will just laugh at you.

“Today in NNEWI where I come from it is difficult for you to get a young boy to learn a trade for say 5,6,7 years before they are established. They prefer Okada business, yahoo yahoo, begging etc.

“There are so many fake Proprietors of universities and Polytechnics in NIGERIA that are only interested in money and nothing else. They go to JAMB and bribe them to send these 10th rate poor students to them. They push and push them until they graduate and the vicious cycle continues. We have close to 200 Higher Institutions but how many of them are real higher institutions.

“I am passionate about getting our Country to work again and that is the reason why I am challenging the young people of Nigeria. My father abused us for laziness and untoward behaviors to make us strong and dedicated. Our teachers in those days abused, flogged and and gave us pits to dig for failing to do our assignments. I know a father who went to pick his son in Navy school Abeokuta for holidays. When he got there and was told that the boy failed his exams the man turned his car and left for LAGOS without the boy. He did not return to pick that boy until after one week. It became a turning point in the life of that boy.”
