CelebritiesKim Kardashian's New Perfume Banned From Australia For Being 'hazardous '' by TalkTalkTwins(op): 2:19am On Dec 08, 2017
Kim Kardashian’s perfume has been “banned from Australia” after being labelled a “hazardous material”, according to US reports.

TMZ claim the reality star’s fans weren’t warned and that many haven’t received their bottles of her Crystal Gardenia scent.
The perfume’s alcohol content is the reason behind the ban but insiders told TMZ that Kim’s team weren’t informed this would be a problem when it went on sale.

It’s reported Kim is now offering a full refund to customers in Australia and New Zealand.

Kim’s been proudly showing off her new scent on Instagram for weeks.

She previously said it was inspired following the robbery in Paris which saw her held at gunpoint.

Nairaland GeneralEnd SARS Campaign And IGP New Measure by TalkTalkTwins(op): 9:49pm On Dec 07, 2017
There is no doubt that the social media campaign tagged ‘End SARS now’ has triggered controversy, as well as earned the support of aggrieved Nigerians who took to online platforms to narrate their experiences in the hands of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), a detachment of the Nigeria Police Force.

The rate at which the campaign gained momentum and exposed some atrocities allegedly committed by operatives of this special squad led the Inspector General of Police, Idris Ibrahim, to as a matter of public interest, direct the immediate conduct of a nationwide and instant investigation into allegations, complaints and infractions levelled against the operatives.

In a recent statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Jimoh Moshood, the IGP stressed the need to reposition the SARS for more efficiency and effective service delivery to all Nigerians and ensure that it operates based on International Core Value of Policing with integrity.

Although the IGP acknowledged that the SARS have remained committed to the fight against violent crimes and have contributed to the drastic reduction of armed robbery, kidnapping and cattle rustling among other violent crime nationwide, the IGP insisted that a new training programme would be organised for all federal SARS personnel.

According to him, the training which would centre on core police duties, care and custody of suspects, and observance of human rights and handling, would be organised by the force in collaboration with some civil society organisations (CSOs), local and international NGOs, and other human rights organisations.

Directing the Commissioners of Police to comply with the force’s new arrangement, and to warn their personnel not to pose as SARS operatives, the Police boss mandated the IGP X-Squad to go round the commands and police formations nationwide to ensure strict compliance and apprehend police officers.

The new arrangement recognises a Commissioner of Police as the overall head of the Federal Anti-Robbery Squad (F-SARS) nationwide under the Department of Operations, Force Headquarters Abuja.

The Police Zonal Commands, State Commands and Divisions will continue to operate anti-crime units, crime prevention and control squads and teams imperative to prevent and detect crimes and criminalities in their area of responsibilities; as well as control crack squads necessary to sustain law and order cum protection of life and properties.

Federal SARS will now exist and operate in the State and Zonal Commands under the Commissioner of Police (F-SARS) at the Force Headquarters; and a Federal SARS Commander of a rank of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) and not below Superintendent of Police (SP) will oversee FSARS in State and Zonal Commands across the Country.

Meanwhile, aggrieved members of the public were advised to channel any past or present complaint on violation of their rights by any SARS personnel anywhere in the country to: the IGP X-Squad via 09035621377 (Whatsapp), 09032278905 (SMS), 09026900729 (Calls); Force Public Complaint Bureau via 07056792065 (Calls/SMS/Whatsapp), 08088450152 (Calls/SMS/Whatsapp), bailisfree@gmail.com; and the Public Complaint Rapid Response Unit (PCRRU) via 08057000001 or 0805700000 (Calls), 08057000003 (SMS or Whatsapp), and Twitter: @PoliceNG_PCRRU

TravelFuel Queues Continue In Abuja Despite Nnpc’s Denial Of Fuel Price Increase by TalkTalkTwins(op): 3:18am On Dec 06, 2017
Long queues of vehicle have resurfaced at filling stations in Abuja following a widespread rumor of an impending increase in the pump price of fuel.
Reporting from the nation’s capital, our correspondent observed that at least one filling station, Con Oil, ran out of fuel and was forced to close the station.

At the Total filling station in the Central Business District, the queue extended towards the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) building.

Queues were noticed in other stations in the city while black marketers went to the streets to sell their product.

The sudden rush to purchase fuel ahead of Christmas and New Year celebrations was prompted by a rumor that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) would soon increase the pump price of petroleum.

However, the NNPC debunked the rumor and assured Nigerians that it has no plans to increase prices both at the pump and ex-depot level.

CelebritiesMyro To Baby Mama: I’m Not Your Child’s Father by TalkTalkTwins(op): 3:24am On Dec 02, 2017
https://www.sunnewsonline.ng/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/myro-copy-copy.jpg
Fast rising singer, Myro has denied being the father of a child a baby mama claimed she had for him.
Reacting to reports that he was involved in a paternity mess, the artiste stated that rumour-mongers would not distract him, even though he regretted the entire episode.

“Yes, I and the lady involved had something going but it’s all in the past now,” he declared. “I requested and paid for a DNA test in a lab of her choice, which she rejected until my lawyers waded into the case.

“I love kids. I see children as gifts that deserve to be shown one hundred per cent care and love. When I have one, I will not hesitate being the best dad possible. Women are special and I love them. I was raised by women and they did a great job but certain issues surround this recent development hence my insistence on a DNA test.”

Myro continued: “Meanwhile, this is a personal matter that has been very distracting. I want to tell all the rumour-mongers and haters out there to please let me be. Ever since that news broke, I have received many calls from my family and loved ones and I want to reassure them that I am on top of it.

“I am just here focused on my career as an artiste and also on the growth of the brand Myro. The test results reaching me show that I am not the father of her child. “

PoliticsGovernors Give Condition Before Paying Salary Arrears By Christmas by TalkTalkTwins(op): 2:53am On Nov 29, 2017
The Governors of the 36 states in the country have given their condition to obey the directive issued by the Nigerian President demanding that they pay all outstanding salaries before Christmas.

The governors after a meeting came up with a condition to be met before abiding by the directive issued by the Nigerian president.

The condition given by the state governors was revealed by the Imo state governor, Rochas Okorocha, while briefing State House correspondents after the governors held a closed-door meeting with the president inside the council chamber of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Okorocha while giving the details of the meeting and the demand made by the governors forum stated that the payment of salary arrears as demanded by the President is dependent on the president’s approval of the payment of the 50 per cent Paris Club loan refund.

He said: “Yes, with the Paris Club coming, every worker should enjoy his/her Christmas.”

Okorocha further added: “the president has expressed the need to make ensure that every Nigerian especially the workers have a beautiful Christmas and the issue of outstanding Paris club was discussed and that was taken care of.”

He further added that the meeting revolved around the release of the balance of the Paris Club refund so that governors can make adequate appropriation arrangements.

“We also made a request for Mr. President’s approval so that the balance should form part of our 2018 budget, because we can’t include it, until we are sure that the money is coming. That was also sorted out.

“So, as it is now, the issue of workers took the centre stage and Mr. President was concerned about those who depend on their salaries to feed their families and pay their house rent and he had the assurance from the governors that we will meet up those obligations.”

Speaking also after the meeting, the Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai said: “Every state has a specific amount that was deducted. That amount may be enough to cover the arrears; it may not be, because you cannot get more than what you are entitled to. It varies from state to state.

“My state has no salary arrears at all. So, it’s a mute issue. Kano doesn’t have salary arrears. Whatever we are getting, we just continue with our development projects.

“Some states have salary arrears that are bigger than the Paris Club refund they are getting. Even when they get it, they will not be able to clear the salary arrears. But it is better to reduce it so that people will have happier Christmas than not.”

Foreign AffairsPakistan Calls In Army To End Anti-blasphemy Pro by TalkTalkTwins(op): 4:26am On Nov 26, 2017
https://www.aljazeera.com/mritems/imagecache/mbdxxlarge/mritems/Images/2017/11/25/04395ebcacb44ea79d8111e5ce3c700b_18.jpg
Pakistan calls in army to end anti-blasphemy protests
The Pakistani army has been called in to restore order to the capital after clashes between anti-blasphemy protesters and police left at least 174 people injured.

Thousands of riot police and paramilitary personnel on Saturday fired tear gas, rubber bullets and water cannon at the protesters in an attempt to dislodge them from a major highway into Islamabad.

The protesters, numbering as many as 2,000, stood their ground, fighting back by throwing stones and beating police with sticks and metal rods in running battles that continued throughout the day.

The protesters have been blocking the Islamabad expressway, the main road into the capital, since November 8, demanding the resignation of Federal Law Minister Zahid Hamid over a perceived softening of the state's position on blasphemy.

Last week, a Pakistani court ordered the government to clear the sit-in protest, prompting a series of meetings between protest leaders and the government to attempt to reconcile differences.

By midday, the demonstrators appeared to have beaten back the police to roadblocks located several kilometres away from the site of the protest.

"We will remain deployed but are holding our positions for now," Khalid Khattak, Islamabad'd police chief, told Al Jazeera. "We do not want to cause further casualties [and] will adopt a new strategy soon."

At least 111 of those injured in the clashes were members of the police or other security forces, said Dr Farrukh Kamal, an official at the PIMS government hospital where most of the wounded were being treated.

Official figures on how many protesters had been arrested during the crackdown were not immediately available.

Caught in the crossfire

Liaquat Kazmi, 30, was standing outside his home near the Faizabad interchange, where the protest is centred, when he was manhandled and beaten by police as the crackdown got under way.

"I am just a regular citizen, I have no connection to the protesters or to the police," he said from his hospital bed. "Without asking any questions as to who I was, [the police] brutally beat me, and then one of them shot me at close range with a rubber bullet."

Kazmi suffered a serious wound to the chest, but doctors said he would make a full recovery.

Safoor Akram, 23, a police constable from the nearby town of Rawat, was among those tasked with being the first wave in the clearing operation against the protesters.

"We were surrounded by those maulvis [religious leaders]. First, they stole our mobiles and wallets, and then they beat us mercilessly with sticks and their fists," he told Al Jazeera.

Akram and two other policemen were then taken hostage and held by the protesters for five hours, he said. They were eventually released.

As the crackdown got under way, Pakistan’s media regulator ordered all television news channels other than the state broadcaster taken off air, saying their live coverage was compromising the security operation.

Shortly thereafter, access to social media sites Twitter and Facebook was also cut across the country.

Protesters digging in

By nightfall, small protests had spread to other cities, with gatherings and limited clashes reported from Pakistan's largest city, Karachi, as well as in Lahore, Gujranwala and Faisalabad.

In Islamabad, the protesters appeared to have dug in for the night, with more than 1,000 gathered around a makeshift stage, raising slogans of solidarity with Islam's Prophet and vowing not to back down.
https://www.aljazeera.com/mritems/Images/2017/11/25/64fd11fc44404071b24e01f840767d28_18.jpg
The smell of tear gas hung heavy in the air, hours after the last shell had been fired from the day’s onslaught.

The road that has become the protesters home over the last two weeks was strewn with stones and other detritus from the earlier battle. Among the crowd, many protesters stood armed with sticks and rods, policing the entry points of the demonstration.

Nearby, many others were huddled around small fires in makeshift tents, as night drew in.

CrimeKidnapped British, Ian Squire Shot Dead In Nigeria After Singing “Amazing Grace" by TalkTalkTwins(op): 2:39pm On Nov 25, 2017

British optician kidnapped in Nigeria was killed after trying to cheer fellow hostages by playing 'Amazing Grace'

A British optician kidnapped in Nigeria was shot dead after trying to cheer his fellow hostages by playing "Amazing Grace" on his acoustic guitar, two of his fellow missionaries have told The Telegraph.

Ian Squire, 57, was killed instantly after being hit by a salvo of shots fired by one of the gunmen that abducted the four-strong missionary team from their clinic in the southern Delta region on October 13.

Details of how Mr Squire died had previously not been made public, and it had earlier been reported that he had died of an asthma attack after being unable to access medication.

However, an interview with the Telegraph, his fellow hostages David and Shirley Donovan say that he was killed the morning after they were abducted by the gang, who hid them in a bamboo hut in a remote swamp.

The couple said that the gunmen refused to ever explain why they opened fire.

“It was the perfect song, and at that point things began to look not quite as bad,” he said. “But then, after Ian finished playing, he stood up, and a salvo of gunshots killed him instantly. We didn’t see who did it, but it was obvious that someone in the gang had shot him. It was terrifying to see.

“We jumped out of the shack and into the water as we thought they were coming for us next, but a member of the gang came and put us back in there with Ian for the rest of the day.”
