EducationRe: More Lagos Schools Where Pupils Sit On Bare Floors Unearthed by talktimi(m): 9:43pm On Nov 30, 2013
bloggernaija: I am surprised that the state has not limited access to social services to indigens.
Lagos state cannot continue to foot the bill for the entire country .
THE SW wants to send are nationals on pilot training programs and foriegn scholarships as well.
We cannot continue to carry other laggard states/regions on our back.
Lagos as it is, has over 1500 primary/secondary public schools.
That number is more than the no of school in any region of the country .
Many of the students are not even nationals of the SW ,Benin Kingdom,Edo state or citizens of Dahomey.
It is high time something is done about this situation.
A start will be for the FG to start deducting a percentage if the allocation given to states and regions with excessive numbers of migrants and handing same to enburdened states like Lagos .
As at 1994 ,over 1000 people a day were trooping into our little small island.
Only God knows what the nos are now with the reeking stench of fresh air polluting the country right now.
now i have confirmed that you dont even have small sense sef. I dont know if you went abroad to count bridges or pigeons. Blind partisan politics has blocked your logical reasoning faculty hence you rush to defend and give ugly reasons for the unreasonable actions of your party people, worse still you cloak it in the guise of tribal afinity. Sorry for your sorry exposure. Ok

PoliticsRe: APC Is Not About Me And Buhari by talktimi(m): 1:30am On Nov 30, 2013
Amaechi used this same tactic in rsust and it worked beautifully so whats Tinubu talking about ? There are thousands of qualified personnel both home and abroad who are ready to take the place of these greedy, lazy, buffoons called lecturers. I dont even know why LASU joined this strike with their crazy fees
PoliticsRe: I Will Resign If Jonathan Did Not Seek Re-election-gulak by talktimi(m): 1:21am On Nov 30, 2013
Then what will happen if you resign ? You should have said something more dramatic like committing suicide then people will take you serious.
EducationRe: Lagos Suspends Principal Of School Where Pupils Sit On Windows by talktimi(m): 1:18am On Nov 30, 2013
This is the height of tyranny. I read the original article whr the school officials said they had sent several requests to the state ministry of education asking for furniture, why should this woman be punished just because some people are incompetent ? The principal refused offers from the pta to handle this same furniture palava just so she wont get into trouble but here it is again, seems you never can please dictators sha.

PoliticsRe: Gbeleyi……the Man Tinubu Wants In Alausa by talktimi(m): 12:43am On Nov 30, 2013
Which kind of jagbadantis story is this or is the reporter trying to tell us that Tinubu single handedly picks who will become the next governor without any form of primaries ? This article focused more on as5 kissing of Tinubu and Gbeleyi than selling the guy as a credible, trustworthy and reliable candidate because the next question will be where did he get an 8 billion naira war chest if he doesnt have sticky fingers ? This is all a disservice to the man good though he might be
PoliticsRe: Lagos Slum's Legal Victory Presents Path To Future For Nigeria's Least Fortunate by talktimi(m): 9:34am On Nov 29, 2013
django1: If you're referring to me, I'll answer by saying I'm not a Lagos resident and I don't believe that "most" of the slum dwellers will be indigenous lagosians.
as long as you dont have any statistical empirical proof outlining the states of origin of those people, its impossible for me to take your claim seriously
PoliticsRe: Can We Call Oshiomhole A Heartless Governor? by talktimi(m): 7:42am On Nov 29, 2013
bloggernaija: The correct word is RUTHLESS and,

A GOOD LEADER MUST HAVE A RUTHLESS STREAK.
A POLITICIAN "WHO DOES NOT GIVE A DAMN "
COULD CARE LESS IF SOMEBODY IS DESTROYING HIS ADMINISTRATION.
ANYBODY WHO KNOWS THE ANTICS OF ROADSIDE HAWKERS KNOWS THAT THEY THINK IT IS ALL A GAME.
THEY CONTINUOUSLY PLAY HIDE AND SEEK WITH THE LAW .
ALSO,CONSIDERING THE WAY BENIN PEOPLE INTERACT,
THAT GO AND DIE THING IS JUST BEING SARCASTIC.
YOU TYPICAL NIGERIAN SEE AN HEARTLESS GOVERNOR,
I SEE A GOVERNOR WHO IS DOING HIS JOB AND CARES ABOUT HIS STATE.

PoliticsRe: Lagos Slum's Legal Victory Presents Path To Future For Nigeria's Least Fortunate by talktimi(m): 7:05am On Nov 29, 2013
Uyi Iredia: Yes Lagos is expanding. How good is our city's physical planning ministry. Poorly, if you ask me, save for estates involving PPP and that is done by private companies, govt. Is doing badly in adequately attending to land issues and physical development. I think whitewashing, and at best, some minimal job is being done in that regard.

Good ! I don't think any govt. here deals with this VERY IMPORTANT feature. And why not ? 'Grand' as Abuja is it has failed in maintaining excellent physical planning and just manages to keep its incipient planning.

There are the ones who'll need PPP most. The govt. should use its leverage to get private companies and world bodies like the World Bank to bring funds it would faithfully use to improving their infrastructure to a minimal but acceptable standard, if it can't even make it good, again as seen in many private estates around.

They can. It would be waste though. But I suspect given talk here that huge funds were wasted on the Lekki road ish.

I see. And he too went to APC. In any case he was mistaken. Slum demolition doesn't equal development: that is bad, uncaring, and irresponsible thinking.

Unfortunately that's the fate of their lot. I happen to be lucky in that regard.

I have suggested one.

PoliticsRe: Lagos Slum's Legal Victory Presents Path To Future For Nigeria's Least Fortunate by talktimi(m): 2:03am On Nov 29, 2013
ba7man: They all came from somewhere. The Makoko slums started as a Fishing/ Logging outpost till it turned into a permanent residence to them.

I watched it grow to that size growing up. Its as a result of neglect that let things get that far.
thank you very much. The active word in your post is "neglect" but the question now is no longer negligence on whose part but rather what to do with these slum dwellers because whether we like it or not Lagos in this case is expanding and must expand. All available land must be properly utilized with adequate spatial organisation that befits a mega city. Like i earlier asked, what should be done with these people bearing in mind that many of them could be indigents of that locality, the option of compensation doesnt really cut it because how much and how many people can the govt adequately pay off to start life afresh ? A situation such as this is what caused Amaechi's problem in Rivers state where he attempted to demolish an entire slum which was also the ancestral home of the dwellers there. The question was now are they supposed to become permanent tenants in another mans land thereby losing their own culture and identity ? There has to be a win - win situation for both the govt and the people
PoliticsRe: Lagos Slum's Legal Victory Presents Path To Future For Nigeria's Least Fortunate by talktimi(m): 12:56am On Nov 29, 2013
bloggernaija: Why do people chose to live this wretched existence considering that many of these folks come from rural areas where they can live a life of dignity.
Many have family country homes and farms.is it a must to live in Lagos ?
They are also bearing too many children into this environment .
By the way ,who was that judge?
Places which were pristine swamps and open areas have been turned into slums
they may be indigenes
PoliticsRe: APC Governors Are Wicked/callous, Anti-poor... by talktimi(m): 12:21am On Nov 29, 2013
donphilopus: Nobody is supporting that ungodly act! We all rose to contempt it, so that doesn't mean we should now be attacking the governor as if he has done nothing in the state.
thats where you as a citizen has to do your responsibility by "advertising" your state which will attract tourists and investors alike just the way usbeel & naptu2 do for Bauchi and Lagos respectively because nairaland is populated by people who have expert opinions on places they have never been to in their lives. When next im in Benin i'll holla at you so you can show me around bro.
PoliticsRe: APC Governors Are Wicked/callous, Anti-poor... by talktimi(m): 12:01am On Nov 29, 2013
donphilopus: If the FG use the money of the those Armods to help most of the widows in Nigeria, I'm very sure Oshiomole won't even see that woman the very he told her to "go and die".
bro, your argument lacks logic and you know it so lets not digress from this topic. Only a wicked individual will say Oshiomhole hasnt tried in Edo state at least compared to that oaf Lucky Igbinedion but the argument today is why tell a living being to go and die. There is a stage you get to in life when you wont be able to do certain things like you normally did before eg i dont expect you to be exchanging insults with market women or fight on the road with bus conductors so also i do not expect a governor to to use such careless words like a common street urchin.

But the op has a point sha, why not an Ngige/Fashola ticket ? Let the APC drag this election with Gej well well in 2015. The SE has an undervalued population force nationwide that can only be ignored to the detriment of any serious presidential candidate even in state elections sef.
PoliticsRe: Ngige-Fashola Ticket: How Do You See It? by talktimi(m): 11:04pm On Nov 28, 2013

PoliticsRe: The True Picture Of Edo State To Those Outside Edo State by talktimi(m): 10:59pm On Nov 28, 2013
Abagworo: Not really. What Jonathan and his wife have done in Rivers State is no different. Nigerians need to act accordingly in this Oshiomole's verbal abuse. I'll wait for Dino Melaye, Wole Soyinka and other civil right activists to make their comments or I'll end up assuming that the civil society have actually sold their conscience to APC. Ironically Oshiomole was a popular civil rights activist.
what did Gej and his wife do in Rivers state ?

^^^I think it has more to do with the person rather than the party! I don't imagine a Fashola or Rochas would be so mean either!
definitely not a Fashola being this mean. But a Rochas ? Hahahahaha grin that guy is a buffoon and can certainly do worse things
