Jones will prove to you he is our best defender if you want to be sincere in your assessment. He was most tidy today and looked sharp. If he can have 10 straight games, then you will see a world class defender.

You probably have not seen how Jones and Smalling work together. They act as sweepers behind each other. One goes to intercept or tackle, the other acts as a sweeper behind.

Good for his confidence if you ask me. He was quite sleek in possession & even tried a long range curler that bumped off a defender into the air before the ball could really take flight.

For skillful young players like that don't underestimate what a solid cameo can do for their confidence.

As for Rooney, elamps forget. If truly Pogba lands here Rooney should find comfort on the bench. Yes his passing improved after the break, yes he showed more eagerness & sense to be mobile enough but he was just there overall. He is still useful don't get me wrong, but there are clearly better options & we can't let nepotism stand in the way of a big establishment like Man Utd.

With mobile players around Mata, I honestly don't see Rooney benching Mata on merit in that No. 10.

Mata came when the game had been won. We also played high defence at the time which made life easy for the forwards.

Rooney has only trained one week, Mata three weeks. Don't forget that too.

There was a time Zlatan ought to have played Rooney through for a one vs one with the keeper, it was a good counter attack. But the big man appeared to look towards one direction, so he passed to his tight, to Mkhitaryan who had a man chasing him. Hope we won't see more of such from our front line. Mephis also making poor decisions, although he did better today. May be if he started when the game was tight he wouldn't have done as good.

Mkhitaryan seems to be inconsistent. After one good game he is becoming quiet and easily tamed or even dispossessed. Ibrahimovic, Rooney and Mkhitaryan might not clique together. But the league is different.

Rooney had a poor first half but showed what he is made of in the second with quick play and passes.

Eric Bailly and Blind didn't really look convincing together, Galatasaray had a easy day running past our defence line into our box. They also played too close to our box. That created so much gap between our defence and attack, and Galatasaray had fun utilizing that space to pass us around like they were Barca. Our front men were starved of the ball in the first half.

In the second half we removed our new signings from attack, then our boys brought their EPL speed which caused trouble to Galatasaray. We will need some speed from Mkhitaryan.

Phil Jones played the high line (a very high one) and it helped us to press better. At some point he chased an opposition back, he easily caught up despite the opposing player being offside. I pray he stays fit. People will finally get to understand what I have been saying about this guy.

Antonio Valencia shone like the stars in the sky.

Mourinho is already playing players out of position. I knew it will be inevitable. Darmian in left back, Young in right back. That was how we ended the match. But it was fine.

I think there will be a lot of movement, running and counter attacking too.

Pogba = CM (box to box)
Rooney = Behind the striker

I think this is how Mourinho intends to start the season. The question is whether Rooney will be able to keep his starting place for long. We just wait to see how things work out.

Hope we seal the deal. Wish we could add Bonucci to play on the left side of our CD and provide world class leadership from the rare.

The club wud be getting rid of alot of players as it is speculated. Over 7 players wud be shipped out on loans or sold. I think this is d right step in the right direction. Too many dead woods around causing confusion for the coach on who to play and who to concentrate on when it comes to selecting your regular 11....but the problem wud be those affected. I think some of our young players shud be sent out on loans, while players like jones (elampiro no go like dis one), bastian, even fellaini shud be sold..i wud have said same for depay, but i have a niche that he wud develop.

Only those wey no know ball go say make dem sell Jones.
