hahaha Carrick was fouled but you failed to see that Kouyate had a hand on Rooney;s shoulder when Rooney jumped for the ball. You are so biased. Carrick ought to have balanced his body first for the contest, he didn't. Why give the referee chance for that? If he balanced his body well, it would have been an obvious foul. No Man United player even contested for a foul to be awarded. Carrick ate indomie that day. ![]() |
This is Olic's goal vs Carrick. This is the first time I have revisited it since that time, but it has ever been in my memory because we were in complete control of the game even at 3-0. Carrick had an option of heading it to Van Der Sar or backwards for Ferdinand to clear the second ball or the best option to head it into touch for a corner kick. But Carrick did non of these. The clip is 12 seconds. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RUIkcE5L7yE |
You are always entitled to your own personal opinion- whether right or wrong, whether objective or malicious and whether logical or illogical. |
coogar:This is an Ekwe sample talk. Pressure causes an own goal, pressure also causes poor clearance. coogar:They abound every month, I dont have the time to go fetch them. I will remind you soon. Don'y mention that Carrick's clearance. It was his ball completely but he went to sleep. Carrick was ahead of Olic , and all that Carrick needed to do was to take control or at worst head into corner kick, but how manage Carrick allowed Olic to put him under pressure for the mistake will remain a mystery for thousands of generations to come. coogar:It's look easy to you. He possibly went for it with power, sometimes due to the scramble it hits the wrong place in the head other than the intended place. coogar:I am telling you what goes in such situation in matches. I only decided to use Rooney and Jones as the characters. *If DDG wanted to make it his ball, he would have done so easily. Many keepers read the flight of a ball coming into the area, when it is coming to the 6-10 yard within them, it becomes a bonus for them. But our DDG is yet to correct that aspect of his game and it causes opposition to use it as a weapon to mount pressure on us. I saw a situation recently when Courtois made a very threatening situation to look like it was ordinary. He calmed the nerves sorounding a deadly cross. The length at which he came out was very impressive. Other keeprs do it often. But DDG is always on his line even if the threat is from 4 yards. |
coogar:How can when some even score own goals? coogar:It's an evidence it happens to even natural defenders or world class defenders. coogar:I want to believe you never played competitive football. At that point Rooney doesn't see Jones or even hear him. His all attention would be concentrated on preventing a clear header from Kounate or Valencia. The closeness of the ball to the goalkeeper meant anything had to be done to prevent West Ham contact. The cation took part in the 6 yard box. Two other possibilities. First, a keeper like DDG would have read the flight of the ball and come out to take it in the air. This is the only area DDG has to work on. I see many EPL keepers do this. VDS saved us countless times in situations like this. Second, Phil Jones could have shouted for Rooney to leave, but a lot of risk is involved. Rooney might not even hear and it leads to a collusion or that shout could be coming from a West Ham striker. |
coogar:Hahahahah, this clip says it all. Without Rooney's header, it was Henner Valencia's free header if Kouyate left it. |
coogar:There was nothing wrong with that header, except there was no one to clear. We have seen Rooney, Mata, Fellaini clear a second ball from Smalling's weak header. * Let me take you back. Di Maria missed a one vs one against Arsenal. Do you remember how that move started? The ball was cleared into our box by a defender, then Rooney was on hand to pick it up, went past one or two markers before sending Maria through... The mistake was allowing so much space for an opposition to have to have two seconds with a second ball. |
coogar:How can you rule that someone who attempted to prevent a close header on DDG did more damage? Have you not seen world class defenders headed weakly into their own box? Rooney has been very good in clearing balls for us from dangerous situation in the box. He was put under pressure by a taller player. * See below video for a recent example of a defender heading down in his own box. I will like you to review all Madrid goals conceded by Madrid, particularly the 4th goal. I can't find it yet on youtube. Rooney won't do as bad as Verane did that day. Never ever and ever. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qxVfvjZ-KIo |
coogar:Watch that clip again. Rooney did well to have won that header against a much taller Kouyate. But there was no one on hand to close Kouyate down as Rooney struggled to regain balance. It's a goal from a goalmouth scramble. Chikena. |
coogar:Even the best defenders and midfielders make more serious mistakes. Rooney even tried to have got a head to that ball in a densely packed box players ruffled themselve. I am sure you saw Athletico's goal (4th goal), the defenders went to sleep when a simple ball was allowed to drop from on high unchallenged to standing Athletico Madrid players. We concede from set plays too when Samlling plays. It's just that you over emphasize something at all of a sudden they look true. But a second look for any who cares to investigate usually reveal otherwise. |
coogar:I think Gaal doesn't always have to wait till half time to pass instructions. He can send Giggs to shout his instructions. Gaal saw we lost every second ball. He saw many back passes, but he waited till half time. Sometimes, the player might not even know they are doing something wrong. |
Gaal. On the introduction of Fellaini after 72 minutes, Van Gaal said: “I have done that already a lot of times with Fellaini, so that is not new. West Ham should know that. With him we have more power. With Adnan and [Angel] Di Maria, we have more creative players. That's why the second ball you cannot always win. [We] have to win that second ball otherwise I will always have to line-up players like Fellaini.” ...... “I thought that we played very badly in the first half, West Ham were much better. They won every second ball and when we had the ball we lost the ball so easily, without great pressure of West Ham. It was very poor in the first half. Source: The independent. |
When we are playing against Agbegi opponents like West Ham, I think Falcao should not be used. Van Persie should be paired upfront with Rooney or Wilson. Unsuccessful touch and dispossess stat shows that Di Maria, Falcao and Januzaj were not near as comfortable as Van Persie and Rooney. Rooney's ability to drop deep to complement the midfield would have even helped us yesterday. I remember how we did it so easily last season when Rooney dropped deep to join Jones in the middle and we took over possession suddenly. Welbeck eventually had a field day in the number 9. I think we are in a dilemma on benching Januzaj as a result of interest from PSG. Also, some ex United player criticized Gaal for not using him. The boy is good but he is being forced into the starting line up in a star studded team. More worrying is the number of minutes he was given despite his non existence on the pitch yesterday. I am not saying he shouldn't be used, but I don't see any reason why Fellaini shouldn't have been in our midfield from the start yesterday considering the physicality of the opposition. Gaal's statement that Fellaini is a striker meant he (Fellaini) has to embrace the bench. Januzaj is now preferred to Fellaini and Mata in midfield. |
Januzaj made just 22 passes and had 59% pass accuracy. Fellaini had just 63% accuracy. Rooney and Blind made the highest passes and came out with same accuracy- 82%. Although it could be said Blind made more forward passes, it is expected that DM make more forward passes than CMs. Surprisingly, Di Maria (83%) had the 2nd highest pass accuracy behind Valencia 87%. I am bringing up this because Rooney is always a scapegoat whereas Januzaj offered nothing in the midfield. Januzaj offered nothing defensively, nothing offensively and nothing at the middle of the park (midfieldsively) ![]() |
SailorXY:Just unfortunate spamboat banned me. I tabulated evry match one by one, Go and count all our matches since December 20th Rafel returned against Villa. 6 matches with back three, 4 matches with back four. Jones used in right back in almost all the back three. Velencia played as fright back in the back four with McNair used once. Rafael has been on the bench while Val played the right back in four men defence. |
Carrick plays a long ball every 10.9 mins while Rooney play every 12.11 mins Mata also plays many long balls. Rooney has |
SailorXY, That your post about our defence is wrong. Smalling and Jones partnered before Rojo returned. Rojo rerturned and Smalling got dropped. Rafael has been returned since Dec 20. We have had 10 matches and the last four we used four man defence. Valencia, Jones, McNair have been used while Rafael mostly on the bench or not listed. |
Spamboat is hitting me left and right. ![]() |
ajimega:So you kill someone before thinking? Did you not hear the case of the one that happened in Benin December last year? The woman refused to pay the normal fare (N10) less, yet she was the one who held the young bus driver's private part. The poor young man died. The woman was sent to prison while awaiting trial for murder. |
Rooney was always one of our highest passers in matches of 2011/2012 except when played as a lone striker without Welbeck, Chicha and Berba on the pitch. In some occasions only a central midfielder having more passes, or one CM and one defender. Mostly among the top passers when started with Chicha or Welbeck. When Rooney scored a hatrick vs Bolton sept 12 2011, only Anderson and Rio had more passes than Rooney. He made more passes than Carrick who came on in 7th minute. When we beat Arsenal 8-2, Rooney was among the very top passers. I have checked many. How can a top 9 be among the top passers for a team in matches. Rooney must be an alien. Let me log out jor. I know say dem go post at 3am. |
vickertony:The argument has been stopped by stats and facts, then FIFA. Azpilicueta is easily beaten. That's the koko of the argument. Tackles. |
18 March 2012, Wolves 0 Man United 5 Rooney 76 passes, Chicharito 18 passes. Both played for 90 minutes. Only Scholes made more passes than Rooney. Welbeck played from the left wing and made only 45 passes. Yet we would be made to believe both Rooney and Chicha played as two strikers like RVP and Falcao. ![]() 26 March 2012, Man United 1 Fulham 0. Rooney 47 passes, Welbeck 18. Welbeck subbed at 62 mins, Rooney 78 mins. 14 January 2012 Man United 3 Bolton 0 Rooney, 60 passes, Welbeck 25. Welbeck subbed 77 mins. Only Carrick had more passes than Rooney. I just want to stop here. The records are there forever. |
In 2011/2012 season, Rooney had the highest number of long passes in the team apart from the DDG. The next was Carrick. Rooney had 238 long balls while Carrick had 218. Berba had only 4, Chicha 15 and Welbeck 17. Yet we are being misled Rooney led the line. Rooney, Carrick and Anderson needed about 15 minutes to make an accurate long pass. The best in the team behind Scholes. Berbatov needed 170 minutes while Welbeck 145, Chicha 145. Yet we are being told Rooney was on top. Short passes. Among the wingers and forwards, Rooney again made far more short passes per minute. Also more accurate short passes per minute. Only Valencia is the forward player (excluding CMs and defenders) who was better than Rooney. This can be understood because Valencia played in defence. Yet, we were made to believe Rooney played as the top man. Crosses. Stats show that the wingers were the ones involved in crosses. This shows me they were the ones taking set plays, thereby helping them to a high assists, together with Rooney's diagonal passes to them. |
coogar:The fact that they haven't played same number of minutes made Azpilicueta's case worse in terms of porosity. coogar:Cole is 33. Even Shaw has displaced him in the English team- Three Lions. coogar:No, I disagree. You told us that Azpilicueta and Rafael were hard to get beaten by their opposing players. That they are the best tacklers in EPL or even Europe blablabla. So I brought out the tackle stats because I knew they weren't near the best in winning tackles. coogar:I am not giving you ratings. I am giving you particular stats. Shots from strikers and goalkeepers conceding goals thereof have nothing to do with tackles stats- number of tackles made, won and lost. coogar:You want to start an already concluded argument? I have proven over and over again that Rooney didnt play the top 9 in 2011/12. Chicha and Welbeck did. I have proven this beyond reasonable doubt and I dont intend to reopen it. What is Azpilicueta even good at? Area due. Ivanovic is better. Clearances. Ivanovic clears every 19 minutes while Cueta clears in every 22 minutes. |
coogar:Where Ivanovic tackles is immaterial. Rafael and Valencia tackle high the pitch, Shaw and someone like Vidic tackle deep. All are defenders. Welbeck doesn't come in here. coogar:Exactly. That was last season. There goes your hypocrisy. So why do you pretend it's all about this season. Any way, which ever season Ivanovic is king. ![]() coogar:My opinion is about stat. Also, Neville, Carragher and Zonal Marking don't know anything compared to thosand of footballers who voted for FIFApro. FIFApro is best footballers of 2014, not best of 2013/2014 season. Remember, I know better than Coogar. |
coogar:What are you talking about self? From talking about tackles, you went to positioning and all that. Despite this, stats shows Ivanovic is a better tackler. You brought about Ashley Cole and articles from last season. I gave you FIFApro best defenders as voted by professional footballers all over the world as against your individual opinion you posted. You want to make us believe you are talking about this season. Talking about this season. Ivanovic is a better tackler. Azpilicueta is more likely to be beaten. FACT! |
coogar:The number of times a defender is beaten is very important. Whether in position or not, Ivanovic is able to prevent an opposition from beating him than Azpilicueta. Azpilicueta is likely to be beaten 3 times every 10 times a winger takes him on. Ivanovic will be beaten less than 1 times when a winger takes him on in ten times. coogar:You have now gone from statistical facts to theories and articles. lol. Yesterday, FIFA released names of best 20 defenders. Ivanovic featured on the list. I did not see any ampicilin. If you want articles, you will get many telling you Ivanovic is the best. |
StarBoard:I sent a pm to the mods of this section and another pm to the mods on sports section. I called one one of the mods attention right here on this forum, husaa. |
Sanchez can easily pass as a striker while Di Maria might never be able to function as a traditional striker. At best a number 10 giving assists. I followed his game so much at Madrid, he is someone who takes the ball from anywhere and get it delivered to the opposition box. Few years ago, his final balls to team mates were very disappointing but he has improved so much in that aspect of his game. He was someone who did everything right with so much speed and dribbling until he got into the box. There is however so much improvement in his final balls in the last two years. I think he is doing the very job for which Gaal bought him. With better defence and midfield, we will get the best from him and the rest of the players. Nani might return and finds out he has to be involved in defensive duties, then his game gets distracted. This is why we need to stabilize our defending by making our play at the back more compact and mature. |
Chelsea goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer has admitted he was surprised that Manchester United sent Nani out on loan to Sporting Lisbon this summer. winger has been in fine form since re-joining his former club on a season-long deal in August, recording six goals and five assists in 15 total appearances. Having recently been voted the Portuguese League's player of the season so far, his star performances have fuelled speculation that manager Louis van Gaal could opt to bring him back to Old Trafford this winter through a clause in the loan deal. After witnessing Nani score in the club’s 3-1 Champions League win over Maribor, Schwarzer believes United will be regretting their decision to ship him out. “The way he’s playing at the moment, you would think definitely, there was some talk over whether he might go back in January, but Sporting have pretty much said there’s no chance of that. “But I think United at this stage will be regretting letting him go. He’s always dangerous in the box, and has a great touch and great feet. I was a bit surprised he left in the first place.” [Source: Squawka |
Keky:I think Sanchez has always been a better goal scorer than Di Maria. We did not buy Di Maria to score plenty goals for us. He was meant to walk the ball from the deep into the final third for RVP, Falcao, Rooney and Mata. But where was Sanchez last weekend when the two came against each other? Maria helped us to beat Arsenal at Emirate. Sanchez is played further up the pitch than Di Maria. That's the main difference for now. Leave our Di Maria for us. |
