Politics › PMB Will Balance Appointments At The Right Time – Oyegun by tayebest(op): 10:53am On Sep 01, 2015 |
The national chairman of the governing All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, has assured Nigerians that President Muhammadu Buhari will at the right time balance his appointments to cut across all geopolitical zones in the country.
Odigie-Oyegun, who allayed fears of marginalisation in the president’s appointments, spoke yesterday at the APC national secretariat in Abuja when he granted audience to a delegation from Muhammadu Buhari/Osinbajo (MBO) Dynamic Support Group, led by its national coordinator, Hon. Usman Ibrahim. He noted that the set of appointments made so far were Buhari’s personal staff, which is his prerogative, while some of them are too strategic and important to be left for partisanship.
The APC chairman noted, however, that there are numerous political appointments to be made by the president where the principle of federal character will be observed.
“There have been a lot of unfortunate misinformation and uproar against appointments at this stage. We have two set of appointments that have been taking place. One set is the personal privilege of Mr. President as far as his personal staff is concerned.
“The other set has to do with a few important and strategic persons that are going to help him, either in the fight against corruption or the fight against insurgency in the North-East of our country, but this is not where to play the political balancing game.
These are serious (appointments) and the president has the right to appoint those he has confidence in because these are the areas where he has made promises to Nigerians. “But we have thousands of political appointments and he has just made a few appointments, while thousands are still waiting. The balancing must happen when the political appointments are being made but we must not, at this point in time, with the few appointments say that one must be from the North, one must be from South or from the East – not at this very stage,” he said.
Oyegun asserted that the clarifications became necessary following the concerns expressed in certain quarters over the regional tilt of the few presidential appointments, and said no leader can marginalise any part of the country, insisting that, “that will not happen.” On the ongoing anti-corruption fight by the APC-led government, he said: “If a particular group has ruled for 16 years, then who is guilty of corruption?” “And all the fight, witch-hunting are neither here nor there.
What is important is that everybody who has a skeleton in his cupboard, they are the ones who have something to fear. If you do not have any skeletons in the cupboard, you go to sleep and sleep very sound but, of course, if you have, you will pretend and try to divert attention.” Source: http://leadership.ng/news/457699/pmb-will-balance-appointments-at-the-right-time-oyegun |

kenny987: And ur brother OBJ that institutionalised corruption nko? All d billions of dollars supposedly invested in power, the Haliburton scam, the Udi massacre...let me just stop here. Don't justify rubbish. Nigeria is too complex for a group to hold others to ransom and your dingbat brothers basically begged n ushered them in to consolidate their hold on southern resources n blessings in the name of one Nigeria! Nonsense! The said corruption is in the deep bag of PDP to issue out, we tot GEJ will try to deminish it but unfortunately he has to be involve in the fccing cult of corruption. Moreover, am not an ethnic bigot buh i love the truth, Btw, are you yoruba or from EDO?? |

fx45: You're right!
Let's do the roll call from 1967.. 1. Yakubu Gowon 2. Shehu Shagari 3. Muhammadu Buhari 4. Ibrahim Babangida 5. Sani Abacha 6. Abdulsalam Abubakar
I won't include Musa Yaradua because he didn't stay long enough to cause much damages. Nigeria was stagnated under his administration though. The rest of the Northern leaders I listed above are all men of integrity, known for their passion in leading Nigeria. Our country is Eldorado today because of the amazing inputs made by these men of honour and integrity with their unrivalled passion for leadership.
God bless you my brother. You're very intelligent... If you are talking of 'Leadership', the Northerners are nt people you rule out like that! I can say the passion of Leadership runs in their DNA! |

fx45: Something is definitely wrong with you! Nigeria is in the doldrums today as a result of northern leadership. Wasted years of massive looting, corruption, mismanagement and leadership brigandage. I solely blame Yorubas for what is happening today. In their bid to counter anything Igbo, they joined forces with the enemies of Nigeria and the result is the unmitigated disaster called Buhari. What has GEJ whom the grace is given done. You just open that your stink mouth to spew thrash.... His regime recorded the highest looted funds.... More or less if the yeebos are given the priviledge to rule Nigeria, i cant just imagine how Nigeria will be... |
