Six months after leaving the PDP, former president and ex-chairman of the party’s Board of Trustees, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo yesterday said he remained a “partyless” Nigerian and would continue to carry the toga of a statesman.
Obasanjo who hosted a delegation from Kogi State led by Governor Idris Wada at his Abeokuta residence, said despite not playing active partisan politics anymore, he would continue to work with any Nigerian with capability of good intention and leadership traits.
The former president said, “Everybody is welcome. But, they must be with good leadership traits, with genuine intention to improve the country”.
He noted that contrary to the praises being showered on him for his performance as president, it was important to emphasize that personality comes before the platform one represents to achieve desired goals.
“We should understand first that, not the party made the person, but the person makes the party. It is who you are that you bring into the party. Though for now I remain a “party less” Nigerian, I will continue to welcome any Nigerian with good leadership qualities.
“It does not matter which party you are, either, PDP, APC, Labour, APGA any party at all, as long as you are a committed, sincere and a purposeful leader, I am ready for you. And that is what our brother is doing. I pray that this country will never be short of this type of people,” Obasanjo said.
He however enjoined the Nigerian elites to be prepared to make sacrifice to rescue the country.
President Buhari also Kaberuka that his administration will welcome more support from the AfDB for projects in versatile sectors like agriculture that can easily be explored to create more jobs for unemployed Nigerians.
This man just using his intelligence to bring Nigeria to greater height!
peppyluv02: Are you not ashamed of yourself, after reading such an intelligent write up by Barcanista [APC's nightmare], this is what you come up with. I just laugh when your likes call the PDP group wailing wailers because it's obvious you are the wailers! Zombies who have been programmed to believe anything they are told. Why not challenge him with facts just like he did.
I dont know what you type is looking for in my mention box? Huh??
Anyways* i think you should have a time to watch PMB in his interview with christine Amanpour about justice!
Hear him:
"There will not be any party member or personality that will escape Justice"
"Justice is justice no matter where it is being done, justice should just prevail."
londongal03: Exactly what they did to Jonathan. And I wonder if this sahara reporters cannot be shot down if radio braifa can be shot down what about this sahara report own by Tinubu and friends. But my question here is is Saraki not an APC? What is so special about Gbajabiala abi his name be d speaker or lawan? Man propose God despossed so take it or leave it Dr Saraki is the senate president. And since this is all Nigerians interest we are good with it. Please sue this so called reporter 300 billion Naira and let them shot down forever. They think everybody is Jonathan
Xano: Senate and House of Reps have not received their salary since after the elections. Some don't want to say, but it seems they are intent to indirectly get PMB's attention before they go public.
barcanista: O yes! But APC brought him to the Senate not me. When we were saying that you guys are bringing the most fraudulent and clueless people to government, you all were shouting #Change #Progressive etc. After imposing him as Senator you now remember that he is a morally bankrupt and incompetent man? No way! You must accept him as your Senate President and finish what you started. You must also accept alleged terrorist Ali Ndume (APC) as Senate Majority leader.
Which of the ApC Senator impose him as senate president?? was it during the meeting with Buhari they voted??
EroticAngelina: Lolsss You should have reported him! let a police man pretend to be a patient, so he can experience wat u experienced firsthand, record it and arrest him that'd be cool

sammyj: And on and on and on and on. Did I hear another recess. We should just convert our legislation system on per time basis since they love holidays this days.
Barring last minute changes, Senators and House of Representatives members are set to proceed on another recess that will last for six weeks Daily Trust on Sunday has reliably gathered. The recess, our correspondent reliably gathered from the legislators and National Assembly senior workers, will last till September this year.
The recess would be announced at the end of plenary by both Chambers on Thursday, our correspondents gathered.
Our correspondent reports that the lawmakers, following the controversies that enveloped the elections at both Red and Green Chambers, went on recess on June 10th and resumed on 23rd.
On the 25th of June, they went for another recess and were supposed to resume on July 21st, only to add another one week, thus they resumed on 28 of July.
Today being August 9, the legislators have so far sat for 11 days in two months. By Thursday when they would be proceeding on the recess, the legislators would have sat for 14 days including on the June when they resumed.
The legislature being the Third arm of government plays critical role in the smooth running of government in democracy as the responsibility of enactment of laws and oversight rest on the shoulders of the lawmakers.
Speaking to our correspondent, a Senator described the forthcoming recess as normal. “It is normal for us to go on six weeks recess or so. This one is not like the previous recesses, this one is legal, “the ranking Senator said. Also speaking, one of the clerks at the National Assembly confirmed the upcoming recess describing it as annual recess. “This is annual recess, it will last for six weeks or more. It is not abnormal but meet the Senate committee on rules and business to tell you the exact, “ he said.
Efforts to get the Chairman of the Senate adhoc committee on publicity, Dino Melaye, speak on this yielded no result as he was not picking his calls. Also, the Chairman of House of Representatives adhoc committee on media, Sani Zorro was not reachable when he was contacted for reaction.
