US will want to rally the rest of the world that Russia is an irresponsible country. And before Russia can fire an ICBM, it takes hours. It will have to be transported over along distance to a place where it will be fitted to a missile. US sees all these, and US has the means to attack the control of Russia and make the ICBM fails or a pre-emptive strike.

Everything is on the table. The Russia armies are big jokes and strained from the war, if the US or NATO or both step in, it is game over.

1. The US is not meant to fight Russia directly because they are both nuclear powers. However, once Russia launches nuclear weapon on Ukraine soil to a devastating effects, all bets are off. US, with or without NATO will fight Russia with a conventional weapon. Some retired and active operatives were interviewed about what the US would do incase Russia fires nuclear weapon in Ukraine, it makes for an interesting read:

and know that Bush Senior ordered all the US tactical nuclear weapons to be removed and destroyed when he was the US president. Russian chose to keep their own. Thats why it appears that Russia has more. However, only one thousand plus of these Russia nuclear missiles are active. And the US still has the largest nuclear weapon delivery mechanism in the world.

2. US and NATO have the means to declare no fly zone in Ukraine. They dont just want to do it so as not make NATO to be an offensive unit. But once Russia crosses the rubicon, fires the nuclear weapon, then you will no fly zone being enforced and Russia military being engaged. If Putin fires nuclear weapon for the second time, Russia will be turned to a nuclear dust. Read that atlantic I sent to you.
