25 years ago, this wouldn't have made the news...
Not because there weren't channels that could have featured it, but because the world was busy with more serious things.
Imagine reading this in Punch, Tribune, Guardian, or seeing the video on NTA.

Kemetian: VERY IGNORANT YOU ARE.
If you are not smart enough to see the long-term benefits of cultural hegemony, go back to Primary School.
If Nigerian fashion becomes global, who benefits? Not Nigerians??
Is that not JOBS for Nigerian designers, and growth potential for textile industries?
Myopic people with no sense.
''Unworkable union'' yet 30 million Igbos have fled the east to live inside that ''unworkable union'' refusing to return to Umuahia and Awka.
Go and get a JOB and stop disturbing people with your nonsense.
. .
Always 'Singapore'. There are 205 countries on Earth, 80% of which are developing countries.
None of them have become ''SINGAPORE'', because ''SINGAPORE's'' rise was unique, and driven primarily by the free and open access to western markets granted it for its manufactured goods, plus free technology transfer after WW2, since the west WANTED it to be a capitalist 'tiger' alongside 4 or 5 others there like Taiwan, South Korea, etc, to help checkmate growing Soviet communism in the Asia Pacific, in the post - WW2 era.
Without that strategic western interest, 'SINGAPORE' would be no different from its surrounding, struggling western-ignored neighbours and brothers - Burma (Myanmar), Cambodia, Phillipines, Nepal, Mongolia, North Korea, and other strugglers, you NEVER mention.
And when you create you little banana republic, you will NOT get the western market access or technology transfer SINGAPORE did, and you would be a poor, broke place like South Sudan, your fellow new tiny republic nobody cares about.
MR SINGAPORE. Chief. Please, you are making too much noise here. This thread is about fashion, not the existence of Nigeria. Stick to the topic abeg! |

bestman09: Imagine keeping ₦30m for over 10 years and paying a fine of ₦5m after refunding the money.
₦30m in 2013 was equivalent to over $188,000 at ₦160 exchange rate. $188,000 in 2023 when the money was refunded back was over ₦280m at ₦1450! In practice, this calculation doesn't always work. |

Everything about Nigeria Na fight.
And there's this comparison culture that we practice...
Create two threads..
1. ISHOWSPEED hangs out with Jarvis.
2. Peller barred from meeting ISHOWSPEED.
Must we always pit two groups of people against each other?
Wizkid Vs Davido Wizkid vs Fela Davido vs Burna Boy Lagos vs Anambra Yoruba vs Igbo Jarvis vs Peller University vs Polytechnics Private University vs Public University This vs That etc
After all the unnecessary debates and insults online, we still don't have tap water and uninterrupted power. |

lilsmart: As a community of learned individuals, we must approach this viral story with rational skepticism, especially when such grave allegations lack tangible evidence; if you truly sent someone ₦40 million, you should be able to provide transaction receipts or transaction IDs for public verification, rather than seeking sympathy without proof investing such an amount in a stranger over yourself defies logic, and if you wish to publicly accuse someone, you must also be prepared to publicly present evidence so we can judge fairly and not be blinded by one sided claims. It's easier to do these things that you mentioned, than to set up a ringlight and start babbling. But she understands the country very well. Too many dumb people. |

JimohMomoh: EFCC can easily track the guy if they want to help the young lady. Let her report with all evidence When you report a case to the EFCC. They look at two things first... 1. Ability of the person to pay back. 2. The amount involved. That's what will determine their percentage. |

Nigeria has very weak institutions filled with unqualified "quota system recruited fellows" who don't know Jack about service and professionalism.
I won't blame them entirely, give them the Minister's salary and bonuses, and watch them become more zealous than Minnesota's ICE officers.
You can't be paying me N250,000 in these perilous times, and expect me to work like a machine.
If Nigeria truly wants functional institutions, the solution is straightforward:
Reform the recruitment process to prioritise merit, competence, and skills. Improve salaries, welfare, and working conditions to reflect economic realities. Tie performance to accountability and rewards. |
Sports › Re: Dakar Delights In Senegal Parade Honouring AFCON Champions by TechBaron: 10:56am On Jan 21 |
They started celebrating from the very morning of the final.
Homes, streets, markets, cars, buses—everywhere was painted in the national colours. Jersey sales went through the roof; almost everyone wore something that showed support.
Their President wore a Jersey that was signed by all the players, and the team. Don't forget, they even set up viewing centers in almost all the roundabouts.
Senegal winning the AFCON was never just about football. It was a collective expression of love, pride, and loyalty to the nation. You could see it in the faces of the people. You could feel it in the air. From the elite to the ordinary street trader, everyone owned that victory.
Senegal's victory at the AFCON taught me something important: patriotism is not built on perfection. It is built on belief. You nurture your country even while demanding better from it. You celebrate it, defend it, and invest emotionally in it.
A country grows when its people love it! |
