Spot on about the rotation issues, but I think people are missing the bigger picture with Raphinha. Flick is probably forcing him into that central/advanced role just to get him fully dialed into the system and accustomed to the tactical demands, which is way more important for the long-term shape of the team right now than immediate experimentation. Once that chemistry is locked in, the dynamic changes.

That said, I totally agree with you on Hamza. It’s super frustrating because you just know Flick is going to stick to his rigid ways and barely throw him any minutes against Rayo, even though the kid desperately needs real match sharpness. Classic Flick being Flick, he trusts a very core group and values immediate tactical stability way more than throwing young guys into the fire, which definitely leaves prospects high and dry on the bench.

Balde and Cancelo's situation is genuinely worrying too. If they aren't getting a look-in even when rotation makes sense, it’s hard to blame anyone for wondering how anyone develops under this management outside of the absolute untouchables. Now, Xavi Espart seems his guy and is untouchable too.

Well, I would give flick his credit, he is a good coach.

But you must learn to rotate the squad, on espart we would give the guy time, nigga has not played against any big team yet and until then, Balde and Cancelo are tested in those areas and of the too Balde is the one who manages to keep a decent game, and it would be saddening if he leaves. Hamza would not get minutes unless something happens to the starters and flick is left with no choice. I don't like this kinda coaching but I am not criticizing him again.

Squad rotation is necessary and giving equal playing time to every player is good.
You see PSG giving Dembele rest, this is something flick would never do.
But understand that Players gain and lose favor with coaches. That's how it is everywhere.

People talk about squad depth but it's very easy to predict these things. I predicted Barcola's departure from PSG. I also predicted Alvarez departure from City. It's always very easy to see.

Endrick or Espi will leave Madrid in a year or two. Both are never gonna play ahead of Mbape. Now even as a right winger, Endrick must fight it out with Diamonde, a fight I doubt he'll win.

Even before Rodri was signed, it was 💯 over for Casado but that's not enough. At the start of next season, one or two of Olmo, Fermin, Dejong, Rodri, Pedri, Gavi and Bernal go jah. One of these players will 💯 leave. If they don't, just give it one more season.

Balde is currently a 3rd choice LB. As far as Flick is the coach, he'll never play meaningful games ahead of Espart and Cancelo in that position.

Once Alvarez is signed, one of Gordon, Adeyemi will struggle for game time because Flick has proven that he'll never bench or rest Yamal and Captain Raphinha will start all important games when fit.

I'm not against squad depth but too much is counter productive. It helps no one.

Xavi Espart(actually very good player) does not have any business starting the match against rayo on Monday, he has played two matches Back to Back.

Hansi flick is not a coach that prunes players, he isn't.

He judges players based on their performance in a particular match, if you impress, you start the next match and if you don't impress you go back to the bench.

And let's say a player is already impressing but unfortunately gets hit by injury and another player takes the spot of the injured.
When the player comes back from injury, he is going straight to the bench.

That was how BALDE felt out of favour.. his injury last two season was what brought Gerrard Martin to the limelight who knew Martin before then.. by the time Balde was back, he and Martin was already dragging left back.

Martin's shift to the CB gave Balde a chance at LB but cancelo's coming to Barca spoilt things for him and now he's new found love for xavi espast means Balde may never smell our first team again, even though I prefer Balde to cancelo and espart.

Alejandro Balde seems gone Yeah everyone knew his development had plateaued in the last couple of years. Seems Hansi Flick has seen that as well.

I know we are sentimentally attached to our academy players but I am loving the ruthlessness with which the club is making everyone sit up this season. Some academy graduates feel that they didn't need to keep improving once they made it to first team. Araujo, Casado, Balde and others. They're now facing the exit door while the club can promote someone to take their place or sign from outside.

My first choice to replace Balde is Lewis Hall of Newcastle, which I consider very difficult to pull off. Also the club is making moves for Jorge Salinas, who is a LB and left CB. There is also the 17yr old youngster from La masia who impressed during the pre-season.

Oga forget development, fatigue and Injuries will hit us in the late stage of the season.

This Hansi Flick is a fool, a big one.

Are we always quick to forget how our players starts getting injured during the knockout stages of the UCL ?

You need every available player at your disposal.

A typical CM should be able to play DM comfortably. DM is about positional discipline something Dejong lacks in abundance. Add to the fact that he can't be coached and you have a tactical headache of a player.

Vintinha, originally a CM, now DM
Calhnoglu originally AM now DM
Gravenbrech originally CM, now DM.
Then there are players like Jorginho, Pirlo who played DM at Juventus among others. Without Casemiro, Kroos was the DLP when Madrid won thier most recent UCL title. Tchumeni was the runner.

The aforementioned players either won the UCL as DM or at least played in the UCL final. Grav didnt win UCL or played final but in his first season as DM, Liverpool comfortably won the EPL title. Gavi is a CM. As a DM, he does a better job.

Making excuses for DEJONG in 2026 is really a new one.
