Rebecca Sharibu, mother of Leah Sharibu, one of the abducted 110 Dapchi school girls by Boko Haram in Yobe State, who is yet to be released has filed a suit of N500 million against the Nigerian government.

Also joined in the suit as plaintiffs against the Inspector General of Police and the Attorney General of the Federation over their failure to ensure the release of her daughter and for failure in their statutory duties, were Mr. Daniel David Kadzai and Lift-Up-Now Incorporation, a Non Governmental Organization in the United States of America.






The suit, dated September 19, 2018 with reference no FCH/L/cs/1528/18 was filed Leah Sharibu at the Federal High Court of Nigeria Lagos and a copy was made available to journalists on Tuesday in Jos, the Plateau State capital.

The plaintiffs are demanding for N500 million as a compensation for the indignities and human deprivations suffered by Leah since her abduction in February 2018.

Part of the prayers sought by the plaintiffs in the suit was an order of the Honourable court to direct and mandate the defendants to secure the immediate and unconditional release of Leah from the custody of her captors, as well as an order compelling the defendants to employ every means in securing her release.

The Plaintiffs also sought: “An order compelling the defendants to pay the plaintiff the sum of N500 million being compensation for the indignities and human deprivations suffered by the plaintiff as a result of the defendants’ dereliction of statutory duties in securing her release from her captors since the month of February, 2018 till date of this action.”

Meanwhile, in an affidavit supporting the application, the 3rd Plaintiff and Executive Director of the Lift-Up-Now Incorporation, Dr Adeniyi Ojutiku, solemnly swears that he has been informed by their lead counsel, Tayo Doughlas Esq, that it is necessary in the circumstance to seek and obtain leave of the Honourable court to issue the originating summons on the defendants.

Driver in trouble as prostitute flees with boss N5m car - A 54-year-old driver of the chairman of an outsourcing firm located on Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, Lagos State, is in trouble after a sex worker allegedly fled with his boss’ Kia Sorento sport utility vehicle valued at N5.4m.

The prostitute, identified only as Nina, reportedly fled with the vehicle at a filling station in Ikoyi immediately the driver, Victor Dossa, came down to fuel it.


It was gathered that Dossa, who lives on Ikoyi Crescent, usually took the vehicle to his house after taking his boss home at the close of work.

It was Dossa who drove the vehicle to Obalende around 11pm to convey Nina to his house, perhaps to have fun together overnight.

Our correspondent learnt that as they were returning home, Nina drove the vehicle and suggested that they stopped at a nearby filling station to buy fuel.

While Dossa came down from the vehicle to monitor how the fuel being bought was being dispensed, Nina zoomed off. The case was said to have been reported to the police at the Onikan Police Division and the driver was arrested.

Dossa, who hails from Benin Republic, reportedly told the police that he first met Nina in the Obalende area a week before the incident.

CBN says bank will pay N10,000 fine for any delay in instant transfer beyond 4 minutes

The Central bank of Nigeria (CBN) says it will sanction any bank that delayed instant transfer beyond 4 minutes with N10,000 fine. The apex bank stated this in a circular issued last week, titled, ‘Circular on the regulation on instant inter-bank electronic funds transfer services across the country’.

Girls in Kenya are forced to have sex with older men because it is the only way they can access sanitary products due to period poverty and the stigma surrounding menstruation. Research by Unicef has found that 65% of females in the Kibera slum, the largest urban slum in Africa, had traded sex for the sanitary products.



The charity also found that 54% of Kenyan girls said they had problems accessing feminine hygiene products and 22% of school girls are having to buy their own.



Andrew Trevett, Unicef Kenya chief of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, told The Independent that girls are engaging in sex with boda boda drivers, or motorcyle taxi drivers, for two reasons. APC National Working Committee explained that the schedule was in line with the party’s guidelines for the conduct of primaries for the forthcoming polls as approved by its National Executive Committee (NEC).

The presidential primary is scheduled to hold on September 20 while governorship primaries will be conducted on September 25.

According to the timetable, members of the party aspiring to contest for the presidency are to pay N40m and N5m for the nomination and expression of interest forms respectively.

Similarly, governorship aspirants will pay N22.5m for the forms while the those vying for the Senate, House of Representatives, and House of Assembly seats are to purchase the forms for N7m, N3.85m, and N850,000 respectively.


The APC said all payments should be made in full directly into its designated bank accounts.

The sale of forms will be followed by the APC Nationwide Congresses to elect delegates for other primaries.

This flaw was brought to light by an Israel-based researcher duo, Tal Be’ery and Amichai Shulman. They discovered that Microsoft Cortana besides being used to do several things like opening apps, doing simple math, suggest discount coupons, etc, can also provide hackers with a way to hack a Windows 10 PC, even if it’s locked.

Becuase Cortana uses voice commands, the hacker can issue voice commands to Cortana and redirect the computer to a non-HTTPS website. The task is accomplished by attaching a USB network adapter to the target PC which intercepts the traffic and redirects the computer to the attacker’s malicious site to download malware. And all this can be made possible because Cortana is an AI that was programmed to do just 2 things (which listen and execute commands), even when the computer is locked.
