Xcely: The following ranking is chiefly based on the results of the 2014 4icu.org University Web Ranking amongst other criteria as mentioned in the article.http://www.virgin.com/entrepreneur/richard-branson-walks-in-enterprise-challenge-winners-shoes https://www.nairaland.com/1820518/covenant-university-graduate-wins-2

Are these young entrepreneurs stars in the making – rich in talent and ripe with innovation? After meeting them, Richard Branson thinks so. Eseoghene Ise Odiete and Nasir Abdulqadir Yammama were chosen as the Challenge winners from a pool of more than 1000 entrants. Eseoghene (Ese for short) runs Hesey Designs – an online store selling African-inspired accessories – through which she empowers and mentors young African women. Nasir Abdulqadir Yammama won over the judges with his business plan for a mobile phone app called Verdant, which aims to help crop farmers. Both winners were awarded a £5000 grant and a scholarship to the Branson Centre for Entrepreneurship in South Africa. To top it off, they also received a mentoring session with Richard Branson, where they were able to ask questions about his life and business experiences. The Virgin Founder was impressed with results of the competition and by the winners: “Innovation has been an important part of Virgin's heritage and I was pleased to see so many young Nigerians keen to embrace new ideas through the competition. Many congratulations to Ese and Nasir who had fantastic business plans and I’m sure will have very bright futures.” Ese designed a pair of sneakers – made out of local Nigerian fabric called ‘Ankara’ – especially for Richard Branson, which he wore, complementing a bespoke Vivienne Westwood suit, to the launch of Virgin Atlantic’s new uniform. Standing on stage at the party, he introduced Ese to the fashion-forward crowd and heralded her as a possible Vivienne Westwood of the future. http://www.virgin.com/entrepreneur/richard-branson-walks-in-enterprise-challenge-winners-shoes http://google-africa..com/2014/04/meet-africa-connected-winners.html Where are all the haters of CU!!..lol

You will get your testimony in Jesus name.. I wrote GRE at First Logic Ikeja and IELTS at British Council ..Lagos. I could not register for the TOEFL exam because I heard that most of the slots in the centers had been taken and were fully booked. HotNaijaBabe: Hmmmmm, I claim your testimony for my self too oh. BTW, where did you write your TOEFL and GRE? I want to write this exams and pass at ONCE. |
I got my admission in February Got my I 20 in March Got my visa in April God was faithful all through... HotNaijaBabe: OK..thanks. |
It is well... You will get it by God's grace. Just give God thanks for the Visa... lisadem: Thanks. Pray for me make I get visa first |
I began sometime around September last year. Paused processing and continued in December, was through (waiting for my Letter of reference from lecturers) in January No you wont be asked to pay school fees By financial documents, before your I-20 is issued, you must submit a bank statement of account that shows you have a minimum amount of money (they would specify this.. it could be between 6 and 8 million). For sponsors, I think you can use any one but you must get a notarized letter from the sponsor (saying that they are willing to sponsor you) to attach to the financial documents and then you upload the document into the portal. The admission process was fairly easy. I uploaded all into the portal, including transcript, SOP, and my lecturers logged into the portal to write my reference letter. You must also take note of the deadline for submitting your application. Check the school's website for this information http://www.iit.edu/graduate_admission/apply/deadlines.shtml HotNaijaBabe: Hmmmmn..so, how long did all these processes take? Who and who can one use as as Sponsors? What do you mean by financial documents? And will I be asked to pay the school fees before admission is given? |
Ok, no probs..have a great time at UTD ![]() lisadem: Preference... |
Check the school's website for your program Look for the requirements Take GRE and IElTS or TOEFL Submit your scores through ETS Start application online Send transcript, Statement of purpose etc Finish application online Get admission Send your financial documents to the school Get I 20 Get visa Travel Begin to study ![]()

|
Hmmm..The admission process is okay. I will find time over the weekend to summarize. For now, you just need to know what course you want to go for, check for the requirements on the school's website and take the required tests.

|
Any reason for turning down the admission? lisadem: Teeblazer: sorry to break your heart. I turned down the admission o. I wish I knew you before naw sha. I would have had a second though #wink. UTD is actually where my spirit, soul, mind and body parts belong jare. |
awww...okay ...you are not attending IIT... thought I had seen a Naija person that is finally going for MTSE.. lisadem: Nope. Am not in Chicago now and am not even attending the school. I got admission in Texas state which I find more appealling. However, am indebted to IIT considering their swift responses to my emails and different packages sent to me in Naija. |
Lisadem so we are going in for the same course and the same school? That's so cool... lisadem: Sure that's a wise move. Since you are going for grad studies, you will need to write GRE and TOEFL/IELTS. These are sure requirements for your chosen school IIT. I got admission to study Telecommunications and Software Engineering in the school and I did all processings by myself. So feel free to ask questions and answers will be provided if within reach. |
What course do you want study? Have you taken the GRE and IETLS/ TOEFL exam? I am going to IIT this fall by God's grace HotNaijaBabe: Hi guys..I am a new comer here. I guess I have to start from page 1 to get needed information. I will be applying for a student Visa to IIT, Illinois. ( Maybe Spring Semester)... Seriously hoping to get the Visa... |
What an interview!..congrats Rick...peeps please don't quote the whole post, it is very long. congrats once again |
I am happy for all those that got their visas.. I actually got mine in April and I have been checking back almost daily to read people's stories.. ![]() Congrats peeps.. |
