Imagine a Jew going on a Jewish forum to tell them to avoid other Jews, or a European doing the same. They'll either ban that person or recommend psychriatic evaluation. Divide and conquer has been the tool used to ensure and people of African heritage never build together or form communities that will benefit them as a group. There's always someone or a group of them going around spreading negativity to ensure that distrust abound. There's a reason why you find Chinatowns or Jewish quarters in many places.

If there are 200 million Nigerians on this earth, until you've had a negative experience when dealing with a hundred and one million of them you have no basis to come on a Nigerian forum to tell Nigerians to stay away from other Nigerians. If that's not insanity then I don't not what else to call it.

God bless you. Like some people that do not want to relate with Nigeria but can still associate with Nairaland. Awon Omo Abi agbalagba ti won gbagbe orisun. ( a child or adult that forgot his origin ). They want to be British more than British.

I will advice you to move immediately, and change your address on banks/mobile/NI etc.

Calling police might call for retaliation, in addition police for this country na catch and release, they might come for a drug bust and not find any drugs as some of these guys can be Walter White.

And they might suspect you.

Please don't look at the short term financial impact of moving.

Try to move with friends/church/mosque etc.

Na only one life we get oh.

What area are you residing please.

I am not trying to scare you but there are lots of knifes on the street

The Harley Street clinic...but I think it needs booking.
I know there are test places within Heathrow too...

There is Cigntest or so near Brentcross area...

Also there is Clinica if you are in Ealing area....

I bet if you go to your high street or town center, you would find one too

Thank you. I found one and the result came out within 15minutes and it cost £39

Good Morning Everyone

I would like to make some enquiry before traveling;

Do I still need a pre-departure COVID test before traveling to Scotland even when I am fully vaccinated?

How early should I fill in the Passenger Locator form?

What are the other basic information do I need ahead of my journey.

No. Are you coming from Nigeria? Your vaccine card is enough. In fact if you arrive on Sunday, no body get your time in the airport. I don't know about other days

Okay. I think I can go ahead and ask my questions to help people in my shoes that want to stop paying rent money like oga Lexus dey talk cheesy. My question is this:
1. What is the step-by-step process of getting property in the Uk? My curiosity is saying; getting a house you like, meeting your bank, meeting mortgage broker( Don’t have anyone now) needs advice on this too, have a lawyer…. Please help us with the detailed process. This country needs guidance to live. Madam Ticha, Oga Ralphlauren, and other Uk ancestors, please help me put mouth.
What does repayment interest rate mean in reality? Not theoretical term. I checked on money market for comparison but needs more guide. How to pick the best.

You can do it straightaway. You have a deposit (they'll want to trace proof of funds too), have a job and a visa longer than 18 months - you're good to go. The higher your deposit, the less your interest rate, that's the biggest advantage of a higher deposit. However interest rates are currently quite low so use the lowest deposit allowed and fix for a longer period then invest the rest of the deposit or even just overpay on the mortgage regularly.

Thank you so much. Please can I DM you. I know you have talked much about property here but still have some questions. I don’t want to be flooding the post with questions you might have answered before. Let me know if it’s okay.

Yes, you can. I currently have 2 mortgages. My source of income and affordability tests were based on my contract jobs.

I used very good mortgage brokera/advisors that sourced the lowest possible interest rates for me though.

Anything is possible if you have a very good mortgage broker that knows his stuff.

Can you advice/ suggest on this

Its not just about having a deposit. The bank looks at affordability. That is, can you pay your mortgage monthly through the term of the mortgage without defaulting? You need to have stable and regular income to demonstrate affordability.

If you have a job that covers your expenses including the monthly repayments, then you are good to go.

Okay. I have a regular income too. That means I am good to go. Thanks

Because you need somewhere to live and paying rent is paying for a service like any other service. The fact that someone makes a profit from it is neither here nor there. We can translate that into saying buying food is a waste of money as we'll just shit it out. Not everyone can afford a mortgage even with the best will in the world. I advocate one having their own property somewhere mainly because as immigrants, we would really struggle at retirement. To access the full raft of a state pension (which is peanuts by the way), you would have had to pay 35 years worth of NI. Therefore it is absolutely necessary to have a retirement plan which could be a property (the most difficult asset class to pull money out of as it is not liquid cash) that is paid down somewhere cheap for example or money funneled into shares

Madam, how many months do you think someone can start thinking of buying a house of its own in the Uk. When do you think I can approach a bank and what advantage do someone that already have at least 20% of the deposit for intending house? Thank you always for your insightful advice

If you have time, Pay through Form A if you can, open a Revolut, Stirling or Monzo account. Select the Maintenace/upkeep section and credit your UK account and then do the transfer to the landlord Or use Lemonade/OhentPay/Barter by Flutterwave to credit the landlord’s account at black market rate. Here’s the link for Form A , select educational service and at the drop down. It’ll give you various options, select maintenance and upkeep. Have all the required documents ready. https://www.tradesystem.gov.ng/index.html

Best of Luck

But would he be able to open this account without UK phone line? I doubt

@Temi231, I’m assuming you are in a rented apartment. Don’t you need to check with your landlord before you change the flooring in the house?
Secondly I won’t advise you to measure the carpets yourself, the way they lay carpets here is different from what we do in Nigeria. Carpets are laid as one piece and it flows through the entire house and under the doors and right through the stairs without any cut and join. Based on that, I will recommend getting a professional carpet fitter to measure and lay the carpet for you. There are many people on Facebook who specialise in carpet fitting. Just check your local Facebook page. You’ll also need an underlay for the carpet.

Thank you sis for always touching my matter

I shouldn't think she meant fitting a carpet, more like just buying one of the roll-up variety to place on a bare floor.

I was thinking of doing the latter, but with advice here, I would settle for the normal rug. The floor is cold with this wooden carpet.

I will recommend J&W carpets, they are cheaper than the standard carpet retailer. Take measurements of each room and have an idea of what colour you're after. They have stores in Glasgow and all across Scotland.

I would suggest Dunelm for curtains, their curtains are good quality at reasonable price. Remember to get thermal curtains.

Thank you
