Well said! Whynotthetruth: Brethren, there comes a time in a people's life when they need some introspection. A time they need to give themselves some home truth albeit bitter at first. A time when partisanship should be dropped in the gutters. A time when that ancient axiom of; "charity begins at home" should be reinvented. A time when some sheepish worshipping of politicians and tribal bigotry should be eschewed for a holistic reexamination of our sanity and ability to remain reasonable beings. A time when religious and political affiliations should not be allowed to determine our allegiance or patriotism or truth. And that time is NOW.
This article is written bearing in mind those states especially APC states who have used wicked propaganda to deceive and thwart the facts to/for their people. Masses in this region are simply smart by half; unfortunately they equate their ability to conjure up sentences as evidence of being smart, but the picture of their emptiness is made too glaring when mere speeches and empty rhetorics of politicians sway them. There hollow thought-process is shown when truth to them is first tested on the altar of religion, tribe, and political alliance before it is accepted or thrown to the dogs. Everything is politics and political to them.
South-West people of Nigeria seem to be the worst heat so far by the dwindling economic situation in the country, thanks to oil price fall in the international market. Most of the states there came from the defunct ACN now APC after the merger. Having brainwashed most of their people into believing that PDP is their problem; one begin to imagine what happened to the economy of their(ACN/APC) states, when most PDP states are still holding forth. Based on their own assessment of PDP, NONE of the ACN now APC states should be seen in such mess as it is now. Remember, states like Anambra operate under same oil economy as them, so why is that state not bastardized economically too like most South-West states?
It is a truism that ALL SOUTH-WEST states are neck deep into debts that will in some cases take over 30years to offset baring any more debts or borrowing by such states(What an inter-generational bondage). Outside, Lagos and probably Ondo state due oil derivation fund, none of these states can survive with the amount of debt they have accumulated par chance price of oil continues to fall. Debts are not necessarily bad but when no meaningful projects are on ground to justify such debts it becomes a curse. Otherwise, what is the economic benefit world's tallest talking drum when you cannot pay salaries? What's the sustainability of Opon Imo tablets? What diversity have these leaders from LGA to states achieved in their state economy independent of federal allocation?
In a nutshell, it is high time the people down South, most especially South-West begin to look inwards and ask important questions to their leaders. If Ebonyi state is still healthy economically, why should Osun state be dead already? If Enugu is still forging ahead strong economically, why should Oyo state be bleeding? If Ondo is still doing pretty well, Why should Imo state be insolvent already? If Anambra is moving on gloriously, why should Ogun state be weeping? Necessary and important questions should start popping up NOW!!! Sheepish allegiance to a political party should be eschewed forthwith.
How can most states in the South-West region be executing projects at ridiculously high amounts? How can a kilometre of road cost a billion naira and over in these South-West states, when it is even far cheaper in the swampy Niger-Delta area?
Suffice it to say, that federal government is NOT a grassroot government. We have LGA and states governments. If we cannot hold our grassroot governments accountable and keep monitoring central government, then our succour isn't near yet. To what extent, has these grassroots provided needed infrastructure and jobs to its people especially in the region under review?
Par chance, federal government of Buhari decides to bail out these seemingly economically "dead" states. I think part of the conditions should be;
1)Resignation of the governor if he has been in office for close to two years( because such debts and mismanagement was occasioned by him and not any predecessor).
2)State workforce should be directly paid from source before any balance is sent down to those state's treasury.
3)Debts of such states should be repaid by withdrawals made from source.
4)Balance after 2 & 3 above can be sent down to such states for any infrastructure development.
5)Such states should not be given option of refusal in these conditions. The masses should be priority here and not the governor's political life.
In all, charity begins at home. South-West should wake up and quit hypocritical allegiance based political sentiments. It is NOW or NEVER for them. Your problem is in individuals not in their platform.
Thanks and God bless us all... |

Politics › Lions & Odas Animals Escape 4rm Zoo I Georgia Afta Serious Flood(photos) by temitemi1(op): 1:57pm On Jun 14, 2015 |
Wild animals including lions, tigers, bears, jaguars, wolves and other animals escaped from their zoo this morning after serious flood and are currently roaming the streets of Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia (a country at the intersection of Europe and Asia). According to officials in the city capital, the flooding has killed at least 8 people and several animals in the zoo died. The ones that didn't die in the flood, which happened after a river burst its banks in central Tbilisi after hours of torrential rain, are now roaming the streets. Dozens of families are now without shelter after their homes were flooded and cars swept away. Thousands of people are currently left without water and electricity. Some of the animals that escaped from their enclosure have been captured by security forces while the more dangerous one have been shot dead. See some photos after the cut... Security forces have killed six escaped wolves in the garden of Children's Hospital. At least 1 lion was killed earlier. http:///GDyNO7J8Er

I just want to appeal to APC fans to endure whatever name is given Buhari or their party chiefs till 2019. Better still they should ask Buhari to resign if they can't endure the names given him. |

"President of Germany" is this not stupid joseph1832: Barcanista et al. For you to tag one dullard that person must have shown you reasons why he or she is a dullard. Jonathan gave Nigerians more than enough reason for us to call him clueless. His utterances speak for itself.
So if you tag PMB 'Daura President' you should give reasons why not just conjour names from thin air because you can.
The picture below is why we called Jonathan clueless. |
