Below is the trascript of the interview, Actor Yul Edochie son of Veteran Actor Pete Edochie accorded to Inside Nollywood! Read here: Yea! Sure! My name is Yul Edochie! Nollywood Actor Edochie, the name sound so familiar, are you related to Pete? Yea! I am the last son! (Laughs) Waoo, tell us about your child hood eee (thinking) childhood? How was my childhood like? (Laughs) I wish I can still remember. It was there. It was okay. Nothing memorable you want to share? Well I grew up like other child like any other normal person. So am sure you were very little when your dad started acting? Yea! Sure So how did you feel seeing your dad on screen? it was just normal. Normal? Yea! Very normal because I was very little, my father was very strict, yes very strict because we were thought to always keep a very level head no matter what you achieve in life, always remember that everybody is the same, we’re not going to stay here forever. Okay! So when exactly did you come into the industry? 2005. 2005! But i studied theatre arts in school. I did acting in the school. Okay! Did you come in with your father’s connection or is a just….? eeh who will connect you. Connect you where? Your dad! Come on. No he is not a producer, he won’t connect you. Am happy you ask this, let me just clear it right now because a lot of people think its eeh (thinking) nobody is going to connect you. If you want to get into nollywood you start from the scratch, get in do all the hustling, do the entire waka pass and everything you know, if you are destined to be there you going to be there. My father is just an actor at that time, he is not a producer, and he is not a marketer. He didn’t do anything for me, I started from the scratch, I did all the little roles and God said am supposed to be here and am here. Is not all about… nobody connects you. How do you feel being in nollywood super star? eeh I don’t know! feels good. (Laughs) Any special treatment? Special treatment! Will I…. Your dad is Pete and you are in a location right now, do you receive any special treatment because of your dad? No special treatment, instead a lot of people are not happy because they feel you are this man son. I don’t get any special treatment. Where I got to today and where I hope to be beyond this point is as a result of (1) my hard work (2) Because God wants me to be where I am. There is no special treatment at all. So how many movies have you done so far? I wish I can remember. I can’t tell. Wow! That means is a lot! You have lost count? Yea! I have lost count Continue reading here: http://insidenollywood.tv/index.php/95-inside-nollywood/150-celeb-hangout-my-father-didnt-do-anything-for-me-yul-edochie www.insidenollywood.tv Watch the live video on CTL Africa (Nollywood) on saturday 5:30pm Follow on twitter @InsideNollyTV

Here is the transcript of the interview, veteran Actor Chiwetalu Agu accorded Inside Nollywood! So good day sir. Oh yes thank you. My name is Sandra Idahosa; inside Nollywood TV host. Okay. Yes, you are? I'm chief chiwetalu Agu, i am confined with two chieftaincy title, One from Enugu State Oke mmiri nezoroha 1 of Amaokwe in Udi Enugu State , then Udezulumba of Ogbunike in Oyi local Government Area of Anambra State. Best Actor Award winner 2002 in Nollywood. Most popular actor award winner 2009 A lot of achievement Yes, this year, first veteran actor award winner Hollywood of …… united State of America. That’s just the brief I can give you now. Okay, you said you have two chieftaincy tittles, one from Ogunike and one from Enugu. Are you from any of these states? I'm from Enugu State Amaokwe in udi local Government Area Enugu State. So how come the Ogbunike title? So if you do not know, I have my fans, millions of fans across the globe. Not just Africa, like i told you earlier, i won the award of first veteran actor of the year in America. Look at Enugu; look at ehh Anambra State here, how much when you go far away to America to receive award. So how long have you been acting? Mmmmh! I have been there professionally since 1981. I don't know if you were born then. [Laughs] You know, i acted for TV especially NTA former Anambra State when Enugu was not created, for about twelve (12) years; 1981 to around 1992, that was TV drama and in 1993 i conducted the first audition of ``Living in bondage``. Wow. For proprietor Chief Kenneth Nnegbue from Mgbidi in Imo State Very long time Yea, Long time. This was the time we were all based in Lagos, when i was on TV network, there was this soap opera titled Ripples. Okay. Film produced by Zeb Ejiro for N.T.A. Zeb is a very good friend of mine. You know, in fact, i went to N.T.A. network with my own soap opera titled The Advocate. I wrote the Advocate in 1987 after we did things fall apart in 1986. You know, so in the cause of vetting my soap opera ``The Advocate``. Zeb went through with his own, and went into co-production with N.T.A. network. So what movie brought you to limelight? I was in the limelight before the advent of home movie. Yeah, i was in the limelight because the TV dramas that we were doing were circulated within regional N.T.A. station. If we did TV drama in Enugu, for economic reasons NTA will circulate it round other region. If they did, other region will circulate all that.. Still go round and round. Yes, you know, i have become popular before the advent of home movies but there was this script i wrote in 1983 titled ‘Baby come now’. I played the male leading character. it was produced by one NTA Staff then called Mr. Joe Onyekwelu. Okay. Joe eventually after leaving NTA, went to do his PHD in music in University of Nigeria Nsukka. So that movie became so popular that all NTA stations in the regions circulated it, so by the time i traveled to NTA Headquarter in Lagos, i was warmly received. i was popular already. So this slangs i always hear whenever i watch your movies, how did you come about it? Yes ehhm, it was unfortunate that after the acclaimed we achieved in the 80’s of screen writers for TV stations, the emerging writers in Nollywood in the 90's could not infuse comic relief in their writings, you know, it touched me so much, because before you become a screen writer, you are supposed to know the rudiments, the messages that are must for target your audience. Three major are the Education, information and then very importantly, entertainment. If you educate and inform without entertain, you have missed it. It is not complete. SO, i began to infuse this, even though not through writing in such a case that if you gave me a script to do, i will look for serious opportunities to entertain the viewers. Like in tragedies, if you write tragedy, the idea is not actually to make viewers to cry. You are just bringing the life experience through drama to the poor. That doesn't mean that viewers should end up crying. So i decided to always make sure that in each of my appearance from that point there must be a reason for you to be joyful as you are watching the video. So i began to create, it was just a question of creativity, you know, i began to create slogans, you can call it bylines, catch point or crèches and that has made my acting in Nollywood unique. Do you rehearse it when you are given the script? I don't rehearse, because you rehearse what is written in the script. So you just flow like that…. But when it is time for action before the camera, i infuse it. Yes because i always come with it as a surprise or as a shocker, to take people unawares. if you want to crack a joke, it is good when it is originally. Yeah. But when you belabor it, it doesn't strike people again. So the strategy was to keep it in abyss until the movie director says action. Few of you colleagues are venturing into politics; do you think you will give a shot at it? I think i have to correct the impression, they didn't go! they Were appointed Okay You know, unlike you said they are few. Like Richard Dafedo Amido (RMD) on appointment. Bob Manuel was appointed by the past government of Anambra State under Peter Obi, to venture into politics means that you must have surveyed the terrain very well, build up a manifesto, something serious you are going to sell to those who are going to vote for you. But if the Governor of whoever just picks you and again for a temporary tenure, there is no preponderance, there is no band wagons and let me just say that i don't advice my colleagues to go into politics. It has a lot of distractions; it has a lot of slot, deceit. It is not a place to go and nurture a career because the way it is today we are not yet practicing true democracy. Most of the election we do, the candidates are handpicked; you don’t even see anybody coming to sale a manifesto. They just go there, get connected and put there and eventually most of the time you see funds in their coffers, in their ministries, in their portfolios are diverted to some personal selfish reasons. Funds that are actually meant for the development of places, upliftment of the standard of living of the people, you know, you don’t see these anymore. So our democracy is not good for professional actors today. You can still pass on your message through acting. Let me tell you, you can design a story where you show the viewers; the masses how to use Government funds to develop the environment, develop the place. You can do it through movies. You must not go into politics to do it, because over there, it is different ball game there where the best does not emerge, you know, is people who are connected, who may not be educated at the first place that you find there, that’s why we are in an cogency table today, because the way it is today the masses are not happy with the people who are governing them. So, i find it very strong and embarrassing home to a Nollywood and professional actor and i want to inform you that it won't be long before i begin as producer, director and marketer. i will be marketing online, i won't take my movies to general market. It is one on one direct to millions of my fans. I feel at home in nollywood, no politics here. Can we talk about your family? Yeah, by the grace of God i have a very beautiful family, joyful family. Everybody there is happy because the family was built on the foundation of God. I have a wife and by the grace of God, i have three boys, two girls, they are twin sisters. Hmmm!!! First and second son are in secondary school in Nsukka area in Enugu State. The two girls just took their common entrance examination. The last boy is still growing up, so it’s kind of family that gives me joy, there is rapport, there is understanding among all of us and the morale foundation is very strong. Because my own parents, they built their own family on morale foundation, so we are picking up from where they stopped, so i have a very happy home, very very happy home. So how do you feel been a dad? It is a thing of great joy, you know, that you have five children given to you by God and you’re covering out your responsibility diligently very well. There are no leakages that will cause you irresponsibility. My father was very responsible when he was alive, likewise my mother, so i have no reason to be irresponsible. My wife so enjoys the marriage and so respects me that two of us are wishing that in our next world You meet again We meet again as husband and wife. I pray you will. Yeah yeah. SO a lot of your co-workers are going off market, so it seems you really being around in a very long while. So what has been your driving force? I won't like to advice any up and coming actor to dabble, to dabble into acting, you should ask yourself if the talent is there for you to sell. If the creativity is there, you know if you dabble into it, you will dabble out, you know when I entered as a professional actor, there was a vision, it was nothing Nigeria, it was nothing in Africa. Acting was not a profession. You couldn't fend for yourself; you couldn't take care of yourself through acting. But I had a vision because i was a regular watcher of many programs abroad, from America, from European countries, English speaking European countries. So i have seen those who were in the business become millionaires even billionaires. i used to watch Bill Cosb show, Bill Cosb was making a lot of money that time. i used to watch Sanford and sons, these programs just like sitcoms where giving them their... how do i say it, they were always smiling to the banks, it wasn’t the case in Nigeria, one thing that helped me a lot was perseverance, because i have seen a future where entertainment, especially drama aspect of it will make you somebody. I saw all that when i was being patient in following up because the artiste fee that time is to write home about. I have been paid in NTA Enugu an Artiste fee as low as five naira, but as of that time around 80s five naira was some kind of money though it couldn't pay your house rent but it is some kind of money. It was like i knew today was going to come. A Nollywood era, where actors will make wonderful living from acting, I knew it was going to come to this place. You know, so if you dabble into this business like i said, you are going to dabble out because no preparation has been made, no foundation has been made. Do you know that even today, i registered a company for movie production in corporate affairs commission Abuja called… I registered it as Chiwetalu Agu films, but i have changed it to Chiukwuwetalu. Chiukwu is the Almighty God, just to tell you how one has been able to make God his foundation from day one, Chiukwuwetalu films. so even though acting is paying me handsomely, i am still going to diversify, to build structures for nollywood, hotel accommodation, film village, you know, where i can even call other producers to avail themselves of the structures that i have built, then I’m going to make sure that eventually that it will be going to become a conglomerate that will be marketing movies across the globe. I got report that some doctors in Abuja are using my movies to cure high BP patients, can you imagine that? One doctor Evans came to tell me in Enugu some years ago, that they all agreed that it was now a kind of replacement for drugs for high bp patience. He told me the story of a particular patient who within one week laughed and laughed and the blood pressure came down by watching my movies everyday Seriously? In fact when he was told to go home, when he was due for discharge, He said he will stay here and watch Chiwetalu Agu. That he is home alone and all of his children were abroad, that he shouldn't mind about the bill, if the time of bill comes just tell me i will call them they will send millions of money to clear the bill. And he will stay here to watch Chiwetalu Agu Movies. I was so overjoyed hearing that comment and he has left me with continuous hard work, continuous creativity, and continuous effort. Yeah yeah. To keep my viewers watching me all the time, you don’t compare me with actors who have come in to look at it as a hobby, some even come with one leg, they don’t come and stand with two legs, you know, they see it as a thing you just test and go away. I don't believe in that, I’m there forever and i will be there until my last day on earth, you know, i don't see any other place better than where i am own, where i am for a whole day, you are shooting, there is no cause for unhappiness, you are always happy, joyful. When you are not on set, you are cracking jokes with your colleagues, there is a big percentage of laughter in the hours we shoot, you know, so i don't see any other place better than here. So how do you read the leadership of the current AGN (Actors Guild of Nigeria)? Many things are yet to be done, when we took off in the almost mid 90s after ‘living the bondage’ brains began to converge to fashion out a body of actors, we started to answer Nigeria Actors Guild [NAG].in the cause of it more quarrels arose, we could begin a meeting we quarrel, we end a meeting we quarrel, some felt that the acronym of the name was negative influence (nag) we are always nagging, so we decided to change it into another name which today is Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN).So in the era of NAG, i was one of those who advanced a suggestion that the least artiste fee for anybody should be up to ten thousand naira. But I know you will be surprised that even today we have a bum, the least artiste may receive less than one thousand, less than five thousand, less than ten thousand. There was a set i came out from, there was a crowd scene, what I heard was this person was paid hundred naira (N100), so what are you going to do with hundred naira in this day and age, you know, so i was thinking that all the various presidents who has occupied that office would tackled this issue frontally because i know that in state chapters they are always asking for monthly dues from my colleagues. if you don’t do a job and you are asked to pay a monthly due. How will you get the money? So the presidency of AGN from time immemorial has not help matters in Actors Guild of Nigeria and I’m not happy about that. So If you are made the president of AGN right own, what will you do to implement change? The truth is that I know the policy that will uplift us spiritually and physically, i know them but God has confined me to this aspects, I’m a wonderful administrator, if i administer Actors guild of Nigeria, there will be positive evolution, but I’m focusing on my company to begin to produce, distribute to homes and offices. So i may not have time to go into administration of Actors guild of Nigeria, it is unfortunate but whoever seeks my advice from that presidency will get it and if he/she sincerely abides by my advice you will see positive changes in AGN but personally I don’t have time for that. kobonaire: No that's not how Toyota started. Toyota started by designing and manufacturing their own car....the Toyota AA in the year 1935. Innoson does not design their own vehicles. They assemble the cars from designs and parts sourced from China etc. Don't get me wrong, they (Innoson motors) are doing a remarkable job but to make a statement that Toyota also started that way is not factually correct.Shup the f.uck up Mr, innoson don't assembly vehicle parts, I've been to that plant more than 4 times, everything apart from the engine, is built from scratch, they only import raw materials which other vehicle manufacturers do, get your facts clear.
