Nairaland / General / Cancer Cure: Get Alternative To Chemotherapy by tetradollar: 10:00pm On Apr 16, 2016
It is very true that health is wealth. This is an extremely interesting article that will expose a whole lot of wellness information about the emergence of cancer cells in the human body system as well as possible ways of getting rid the dangerous cancer cells in the body.

"AFTER YEARS OF TELLING PEOPLE CHEMOTHERAPY IS THE ONLY WAY TO TRY ('TRY', BEING THE KEY WORD) TO ELIMINATE CANCER, JOHNS HOPKINS IS FINALLY STARTING TO TELL YOU THERE IS AN ALTERNATIVE WAY"

According to John Hopkins' Cancer update, Chemotherapy is no longer good enough to completely eliminate the numerous cancer cells in the human body, he, therefore, proffers the following solutions...

1. Every person has cancer cells in the body.. These cancer cells do not show up in the standard tests until they have multiplied to a few billion. When doctors tell cancer patients that there are no more cancer cells in their bodies after treatment, it just means the tests are unable to detect the cancer cells because they have not reached the detectable size.

2. Cancer cells occur between 6 to more than 10 times in a person's lifetime.

3. When the person's immune system is strong the cancer cells will be destroyed and prevented from multiplying and forming tumors.

4. When a person has cancer it indicates the person has nutritional deficiencies. These could be due to genetic, but also to environmental, food and lifestyle factors.

5. To overcome the multiple nutritional deficiencies, changing diet to eat more adequately and healthy, 4-5 times/day and by including supplements will strengthen the immune system.

6. Chemotherapy involves poisoning the rapidly-growing cancer cells and also destroys rapidly-growing healthy cells in the bone marrow, gastrointestinal tract etc., and can cause organ damage, like liver, kidneys, heart, lungs etc.

7. Radiation while destroying cancer cells also burns, scars and damages healthy cells, tissues and organs.

8. Initial treatment with chemotherapy and radiation will often reduce tumor size. However prolonged use of chemotherapy and radiation do not result in more tumor destruction.

9.. When the body has too much toxic burden from chemotherapy and radiation the immune system is either compromised or destroyed, hence the person can succumb to various kinds of infections and complications.

10. Chemotherapy and radiation can cause cancer cells to mutate and become resistant and difficult to destroy. Surgery can also cause cancer cells to spread to other sites.

11. An effective way to battle cancer is to starve the cancer cells by not feeding it with the foods it needs to multiply.

NB: CANCER CELLS FEED ON THE FOLLOWING:

a. Sugar substitutes like NutraSweet, Equal, Spoonful, etc. are made with Aspartame and it is harmful. A better natural substitute would be Manuka honey or molasses, but only in very small amounts. Table salt has a chemical added to make it white in color Better alternative is Bragg's Aminos or sea salt.

b. Milk causes the body to produce mucus, especially in the gastro-intestinal tract. Cancer feeds on mucus.. By cutting off milk and substituting with unsweetened soy milk cancer cells are being starved.

c. Cancer cells thrive in an acid environment. A meat-based diet is acidic. Meat also contains livestock antibiotics, growth hormones and parasites, which are all harmful, especially to people with cancer.

d.. A diet made of 80% fresh vegetables and juice, whole grains, seeds, nuts and a little fruits help put the body into an alkaline environment. About 20% can be from cooked food including beans. Fresh vegetable juices provide live enzymes that are easily absorbed and reach down to cellular levels within 15 minutes to nourish and enhance growth of healthy cells. To obtain live enzymes for building healthy cells try and drink fresh vegetable juice (most vegetables including bean sprouts) and eat some raw vegetables 2 or 3 times a day. Enzymes are destroyed at temperatures of 104 degrees F (40 degrees C)..

e. Avoid coffee, tea, and chocolate, which have high caffeine Green tea is a better alternative and has cancer fighting properties. Water-best to drink purified water, or filtered, to avoid known toxins and heavy metals in tap water. Distilled water is acidic, avoid it.

Nairaland / General / Economic Benefits Of President Buhari's Trip To China by tetradollar: 9:41pm On Apr 16, 2016
From a top blogger's point of view:

Opposition are already frothing at the mouth like a freshly tapped palm wine that the China loan is another of Buhari's boondoggle.

In fact they concluded they've been welshed by Sai Baba especially concerning the recovered loot. Claiming it sufficed the loan from China. And so I laughed. Issorite!

Let me educate you in a bit. Out of 199 countries and dependent nations in the world 186 have a debt burden. Wait for this!! USA tops the list of world debtors. Followed by UK, France, Germany, Luxembourg, etc.

China that Nigeria is borrowing from occupies the 11th position on the list of countries with external debt profile. Whereas Nigeria comfortably seat at the 55th spot on this list with debt profile of $68.1B

In essence, external debt is necessary in achieving meaningful development. This loan will come in foreign direct investment and #critical capital projects funding.
■ Power
■ Railway
■ Refinery
■ Education etc

A section of the population said Buhari should have used recovered loot in place of the loan.
Well, capital project like this are usually funded with loan because of the long term ROI.

For instance, China commissioned Three Gorges Dam in Hubei in 2012. The dam is capable of generating 22,500MW electricity. The dam is also used both in navigation as well as in controlling flood.

This dam was completed with a loan of $27.6B (slightly above what madam Diezani was alleged to have stolen). The returns on this investment will start coming in, 10 years after commencement of full operations when the dam would have generated 1000 Terra Watt hour. Abeg, how old is our democracy sef?

It usually takes long time before looted funds are repatriated. Besides, these loots are even repatriated in tranches. Fifteen years after the death of Abacha his loot are still being repatriated in tranches. Whereas this can actually stall capital projects.

Some even argued: why not use the locally returned funds? Recall the relationship between the legislature and the executive is a bit frosty yet this locally returned funds has not be audited and verified so how do you spend such money? Some selfish members of NASS would still want to negotiate a cut from this money which might as well delay its allocation and yet again time is going.

Nigeria-China trade volume recently stood at $16.56B. With Nigeria being among the top 4 export origin from China. Hence, the policy of changing the Chinese currency directly to Naira without first changing to dollar will assist my South-eastern brothers doing business in China. This is just one of the gains from the China trip as some were asking.

Nairaland / General / RIP: Pretty Mrs. Blessing Fatima Ocholi by tetradollar: 1:11am On Mar 07, 2016
Weeping will not bring you, your loving husband and son back to life. At all! You were so honoured and admired all who came in contact with you, even by mere hearing of your good deeds, people fail in love with the quality of woman in you.

You swore for 'For better and for worse' when you chose to marry James. Though, you may not have asked for the worse, God Almighty understands and it pleased Him to allow it. We will wipe our tears, cheer up and give thanks to the Almighty because the Bible says, "In all things give thanks to God."

Your life-reviving smiles and your unique sense of humor will continue to remind us of your moments here on earth. We are encouraged for the fact that you smiled on to victory where your joy will know no bound.

You will be greatly missed...RIP.

So sad! Reports reaching Ozoneviews say that the minister of State for Labour, James Ocholi (SAN) was involved in a ghastly motor accident together with his wife and son this Sunday afternoon along Kaduna-Abuja highway. The minister and his son died on the spot while the wife was rushed to a nearby clinic where she later gave up the ghost.

We learnt that the minister and his family were returning from Kaduna state when the accident occurred. Eye-witness account revealed that the minister vehicle had a burst tire before somersaulting several times.

Ocholi's wife and the driver were in critical condition and were rushed to Doka clinic some kilometers from Kaduna. But unconfirmed report said that the wife later gave up the ghost.

Late James Ocholi became Senior Advocate of Nigeria in 2007, and Chairman, Disciplinary Committee of the Abuja chapter of the Nigeria Bar Association.

Late Ocholi was one of the governorship aspirants in Kogi State on the platform of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change in 2011. He served as deputy national legal adviser of the All Progressive Congress between 2013 and 2014.

Again, he was among the APC gubernatorial candidates in the primaries for the party ticket, but he lost to the late Abubakar Audu. Later in 2015, he was appointed minister by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The late minister attended Ochaja Secondary School, and later went to the University of Jos to study Law. He successfully graduated from the Nigerian Law School in 1986 and in the same year, was admitted to the Nigerian Bar.

Our heartfelt condolences to the remaining members of his family, his friends and associates.

Nairaland / General / Kogi State Governor Appoints NAFDAC Deputy Director As SSG (Politics) by tetradollar: 10:55pm On Feb 29, 2016
The newly sworn-in governor of Kogi state, Yahaya Bello, approved the appointment of Mrs. Folashade Arike Ayoade as the new Secretary to the Kogi state government (SSG).

Mrs. Ayoade was, until her appointment as SSG, a deputy director in the Chemical Evaluation and Research Directorate of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).

She began her career as a Regulatory officer and later rose to the rank of a Chief Regulatory Officer in the NAFDAC Laboratory Services Directorate where she garnered lots of professional experiences, before she was then transferred to Chemical Evaluation & Research directorate of the agency.
She has held so many positions in her career in NAFDAC and member of some relevant professional bodies. Led so many staff groups for inspections on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) both local and international.

Her appointment is a clear example of 'putting a round peg in a round hole'. She is happily married and blessed with children.

Wishing her a fruitful tenure as she puts her wealth of experience into this challenging call to service to her fatherland. May God grant you wisdom and grace to carry on.

Big congratulations!!

Nairaland / General / Opinion: Anything Wrong With Dressing Like This To Church? (photo) by tetradollar: 9:27pm On Feb 22, 2016
Some ladies say there is nothing wrong with dressing so hot to church, that God sees the heart not the outward appearances of worshipers. They sometimes quote the Bible verse that says, "God is a spirit and they that worship him must worship him in truth and in spirit.

Some persons argue that it could be distracting seeing a lady dressed like this sitting close to you. People, especially men, may not coordinate themselves properly in church when sitting close such lady.

Some, especially women, may attack the lady openly, calling her an agent of the devil or husband snatcher in church. Let's talk, will you be comfortable in church sitting close to any lady dressed like this? Send in your response, please.

Following the resurgence of bird flu also known as Avian influenza in some parts of Nigeria and its devastating impacts on poultry productivity and safety; Dr. Emmanuel Onyeka, a medical professional, advised that Nigerians should desist from the habit of drinking raw eggs to prevent easy transfer of the bird flu virus to humans.

Dr. Onyeka, staff of the Veterinary Services Department of the Enugu State Ministry of Agriculture, gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Enugu. He spoke against the backdrop of the recent resurgence of bird flu in parts of the country.

"Everybody should disinfect eggs bought in the market, even before cooking or frying them, to meet eating condition."

"Those in the habit of breaking and drinking raw eggs, for whatever reasons, are taking a very big risk of contracting bird flu"

However, he said that though there were few known cases of humans contracting the disease in the country. Nevertheless, everybody is hereby enjoined to play his or her part so that the disease does not take another dimension.

Wisdom is profitable to direct us in all that we do; drinking of raw eggs for whatever reason should be stopped forthwith.

Health / Public Notice: Risk Of Using Tramadol As Pain Reliever In Children by tetradollar: 11:16pm On Jan 04, 2016
The usual practice of taking Tramadol as pain reliever among adults is gradually taking a different turn as it is now discovered that Tramadol is being administered to children below 18 years of age. According to NAFDAC, the US-FDA has discovered that the use of Tramadol in children below 18 years of age may result in a rare but serious case of slowed or difficulty in breathing.

The risk associated with the use of Tramadol for pain treatment after surgery may be increased when removing tonsils and or adenoids. Tramadol is a type of narcotic drug known as opioid that is approved to treat moderate to moderately severe pains in adults. Tramadol is packaged under various product names in combination with the pain reliever Acetaminophen and as generic.

The general public are hereby informed that Tramadol is not approved for use in children. According to data available to US-FDA, it was discovered that Tramadol is sold "off-label" in the pediatric population.

However, some conscious measures are recommended for prescribers and patients to curb the increasing rate of Tramadol use in children. These measures include the following:

The healthcare professionals should be aware of this and consider prescribing an alternate approved pain reliever for children.
The parents and caregivers of children taking Tramadol who notice any possible signs of slow or shallow breathing, difficult or noisy breathing, confusion or unusual sleepiness should immediately stop administering Tramadol and seek immediate medical attention.

Endeavour to report any adverse eventsor side effects related to the use of Tramadol in children to NAFDAC PRASCOR system via Adverse Events Report forms or through text messages to 20543 or send e-mail to pharmacovigilance@nafdac.gov.ng

We hope that by this notice, the general public will no longer fall victims of indulging in harmful and dangerous use of Tramadol in children as this may cause severe damages to our beloved children's health.

Nairaland / General / Breaking News! Nafdac Staff Begins Nationwide Strike by tetradollar: 6:54am On Nov 20, 2015
Activities were brought to a halt in all NAFDAC offices nationwide due to the ongoing 7 days warning strike declared by the Federal Area Council (FAC) of the Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria (MHWUN), which is saddled with the responsibility of protecting the interests of its staff members.
The chairman of the NAFDAC branch of MHWUN, Comrade Olu Ogundola, said that NAFDAC offices will remain under lock and key until their plights are met by the management and the Federal government. Com. Ogundola also declared that after the 7 days warning strike and nothing happened, the Union may consider an indefinite strike, which may last for months.

The issues were contained in a communique signed by the branch secretary, Com. Peter Anzaku, issued by the NAFDAC branch of MHWUN at the end of their 6th extra-ordinary congress held at NAFDAC Headquarters, Isolo, Lagos on October 4, 2015. The contending issues include:

Review of salary/allowances.
Appointments of Deputy Directors In-Charge for Laboratory services and Food Safety & Apllied Nutrition Directorates respectively.
Drivers mandatory training by the Ministry of Works Training School, Abeokuta.
Appointments of Consultants in NAFDAC.
2015 Productivity Allowances.
Suspension of staff members without trial.

Also, the FAC Chairman, Com. Attah Ibrahim, said that activities were grounded due to NAFDAC management's insincerity and insensitivity to the sufferings of the entire staff of the award-winning agency. And that until the NAFDAC management meets the plights of its staff members, the gates will remain locked.

Eye-witnesses disclosed that so many customers and visitors were denied entrance into all NAFDAC offices. Below are photos showing the ever-busy Isolo Lagos office of NAFDAC looking so deserted, not even a single vehicle or person in sight.
