floraine: All the best and thank God for safe trip
Let me confirm, your saying laptops are not allowed at all?
quote author=shayhune post=59062136]I really do wonder why some people magnify POE experience like it's another visa interview. As long as you're a genuine student and not planning to run way, you have nothing to fear. I got to JFK yesterday. Joined the queue. I was so stressed out considering the heavy load I carried and the lesser layover time we had at Casablanca which was as a result of a 2hr delay in departure from Lagos. The queue was also very long and the CBPs were quite slow.
CBP: Is this your first time here? Me: Yes CBP: How long do you intend to stay here? Me: 2yrs CBP: Why do you intend to stay that long? Me: "I was so tired that I just said rubbish". I'm going to study Masters programme which is for 2yrs. (who studies masters prog ) CBP: can I have your sevis? Me: I thought he was referring to my sevis payment receipt. Gave it to him. CBP: No. Your sevis? Me: Now, I knew he was referring to my i20. Passed it to him. He checked it and asked me to place my fingers for scanning and that was all. My passport was stamped. Wasn't up to a minute or two sef.
Also, the officers checking luggages simply asked me what I had in my box and i told them. I had already declared the important things like Egusi, Crayfish, Garri etc on the form. My luggages were not checked. I just walked outa there like it wasn't a big deal.
Also, I made use of the NYCAirporter (all thanks to Lagosismyhome's info) from JFK to Laguardia airport and it was hassle free and very comfortable. I made the payment in Naija before leaving($16). By the way, I'm heading to Ohio and I came in through JFK which isn't a big deal. I wonder why people just create unnecessary panic about such instances.
One more thing, if you are going with Royal Air Maroc, you're now allowed to carry your laptops with you in your carry on bags. Don't bother putting it in your checked in baggages. Also, Royal Air Maroc service was okay. The food wasn't top notch though but it was still good. You can travel with your laptop placed inside your carry on bag with air maroc. |

You can either try someone in Canada or UK considering how long it takes to access form A. I did it through western union and i called flywire to confirm the payment. |

ponlear: Hi everyone, the gurus in d house and all current graduate students abroad. U guys are doing a great job. Please I need your candid advice.
Pls help your boy. I have a dynamic issue:
I intend to make a career transition into IT. I have an undergraduate degree in geography. (3.29/4 GPA) taking GRE in November. I want to start an application for fall '18 I have been able to draw a list of 7 schools that I can get admitted into with my undergraduate degree. As I will have to take some prerequisite courses alongside my graduate coursework.
My question is can I get graduate assistantships (TA/RA) considering my undergraduate background if I get admitted? Cos sincerely I cant foot all my bills if I will be sincere with myself. Or I should jejely do MS Geography or other related courses if its gonna be a mission impossible or almost impossible.
Thanks in anticipation bosses. !!!
Cc: Lagosismyhome and Texrem Do MS geography if you want at TS, GA & GTA. |

OluDare01: My insurance next semester is $102 I compared the quote from 3 companies and chose the cheapest. Mine is $530 for Fall semester. Spring is $450. All this people shouting ETSU with scholarships there and there! Let me enlighten you today. Yes, there's scholarship here at ETSU. They have Int merit scholarship, tuition waiver, GA, RA, & TA. The aforementioned scholarships are what international students can benefit from ETSU as a school. Now think of it, you were giving int merit scholarship that covers $50 person of your tuition & your tuition is $28938/session as undergrad and $25371/session for grad. Do the 50% of those fees and you will see what you will pay for a semester. If you are lucky to have the GA, tuition waiver, RA and TA. You will still pay program fee between $700-$1000 per semester and the aforementioned insurance fees per semesters. That aside your house bills and the rest. Even if you work here in Johnson city, you can only make between $2000 to $3500 per semester except in the summer when you can work. If you dont pay your fees, your classes will be purge. Let me say out of about 110 nigerians here, Only 40 are on full scholarships and those 40 are graduates. Undergrads and other graduates are on international merit scholarship. I see them striving so hard to pay the money and some drop out or transfer to community college. If you're coming to US come with money. Don't depend on anybody. People will turn you down when you get here. I have seen it happened. Trust me! dont trust me too. The hustling no be Joke. Anybody can F*** you up. So, i am pleading and shouting, coming to ETSU no be joke ooo. So much money is involve. Prepare yourself to come and spend. Atleast come with money to support yourself for the first 3months. Hold your fees if you get merit scholarship or else ETSU no dey waste time to purge classes and you become stranded. ETSU no dey joke with money ooooo. Note this!!! I just want to squash this report of ETSU ETSU ETSU. Honestly, some people survived it, so you can. |

Classic90: Visa approved today 7 45am after 2 denials. B1 visa - January, 2017 and F1 visa - June 29,2017.
I give God the glory for all. Special appreciation to Mr Sojax2cool who contacted me after my last denial. He said "now that you have met me, you are getting your visa", to the glory of God, it happened. We chat and spoke daily in preparation for my visa interview. It happened. I appreciate Mr Taxrem, we spoke twice, he denied me visa once and approved my second mock interview.
I arrived at the embassy by 6 30am even though my interview was for 7 45am. We were called in around 7 30am. A young lady interviewed me in the isolated window close to the one we do fingerprint. Two people were denied before me
VO: Good morning, how are you doing? Me: I am fine and you? VO: Passport please Me: Passed passport, I20 and sevis receipt to her VO: Which school are you going to? Me: Ashland University, Ashland, Ohio. VO: Checks my i20, why the school? Me: (for my mind : you don play into my hands) Asides the recommendation I got from Dr David, an alumnus of the school, I did my further research and I discovered they have a line of commited and dedicated faculty members. 90 percent of their professors were on the field, before delving into academics VO: Yes yes all business schools are like that Me in my mind : Jesus what will I say bayi ?) I found out Prof Greenwich is a Veterinary Doctor and excelled in the Veterinary enterprise, I will get more from his experience . VO: What course did you do in UG ? Me: Veterinary medicine VO: So why a business degree? Me: It will help me to excel in the business world . When I was young there is this big veterinary enterprise on my street that spurred me into studying Veterinary medicine. MBA will give me the necessary skills to become a great business man. VO : How did you know about the school? Me : Dr David my AVO, in Kano who is an alumnus of the school told me about the school VO: Oh, you schooled in Kano? Me: No my compulsory NYSC was in Kano VO: what the you do there? Me: I was the resident Vet Dr there where I worked for Kano state gvt VO: What have you been doing since then? Me: Immediately I finished I started my Vet clinic with my friend Dr Yomi, where I do checkups, disease diagnosis and treatment for animals VO : Which animal did you specialize on? Me: Dogs mainly VO: I have been in Nigeria for a while and I have not seen one single Dog Me: There are Dogs in my area, people keep them for pet and security purposes VO: Which case do you see often Me: pardon?, she repeats herself while I compose myself. Endo and ecto parasites mainly, then towards the end of the year, parvo virus cases. VO: who will be paying? Me: My mum VO: What does she do? Me : My mum professor Bolanle.... VO: cuts... Oh she is a prof? Me : yes VO : which dept Me : psychology VO: I will be issuing your visa Me: I couldn't feel my body anylonger. I was so light. Thank you Ma, I said got my white paper and started running to inform my people
I did not tell anyone I was going for an interview excess Mr Sojax2cool and Mr Taxrem I practiced and practiced and look for more backup answers I committed it into the hands of God, I asked for favour. Only God gives visa. Adequate, I mean adequate preparation is key also. It gives you the confidence that there is no question that you can't answer without fidgetting You might not be able to go through all transcript from the forum, you can still try to. If your interview is close, type VO and your course under the search, you'll see good transcripts. The first transcript for my denial someone called me 'Dumb' , it was painful but that didn't discourage me. That one gets once visa doesn't mean one is the wisest, the person got connected to the right information some didn't have access to. I wish everyone the best. Thanks so much Congrats...not taxrem....I am not a tax-reminder....texrem biko |

aadeyi: Making visa payment has nothing to do with your ds160. Your visa fee payment only affects your appointment booking. Mind you, you can fill as many ds160 as possible if there is need to, but you can only use ONE to book your appointment.
So if you are not satisfied with your DS160, always try to fill another one to use in booking your appointment. I can remember I only generated my DS160 code to book my appointment then, but I did not submit the DS160 until a day to my interview just to make sure I am satisfied with what I filled in there, though I don't think that's possible anymore.
So do not panic about ds160 expect you have used it in booking your appointment, Otherwise just chill and fill another one but don't abuse it. My 2cents Thats just it....I do explain this over and over again... |

Texrem!!! Ds dude is an angel. He told me last nty: “Guy, I want u to wake me up wt a good news” after our concluding mock session. To other gurus in d house (lagosismyhome,oludare01 nd odas)dt I knw, it wz due to d fact dt deir hands were full tats y dey were unable to help me. Bt ur contribution is unquantifiable, it also complete my whole. Keep up d gud work.
