1. Never say no 1 outside. A good student would have researched properly and ensure its an accredited school. Not spend money first before realising its not good

2. That excuse get kleg. Even if its affordable that doesn't stop a good student from applying

3. Well ...

Regarding the rest ... for Cc . You have to take into consideration the whole picture. How old are u and when did you finish secondary school

Lastly if you want to go with Cc. Then keep working on your response, give it your best and hope for the best.

Interview for US is highly subjective. What u think cant work will work sometimes and what you think would work sometimes dont work . So for transcript my only advice to EVERYONE is just give it your best .
Prepare, go through as much transcript and use it as a guide

SHe said my mind. Go and work on your transcript. And be prepare to defend the cc wholeheartedly. impossible is nothing. Give it your shot! Na who know know. Peace!!!

LordSir1:
Hello house please I’m preparing for my visa interview and I would really appreciate it if you can help with the mock interview below, any corrections, criticism. Thank you

Vo: pass me your passport and i-20
Me: Here it is.

Vo: why are you going to the us?
Me: I’m going to the US to pursue a Master of Engineering degree with a focus on Industrial Automation and Control at Texas Tech

Vo: why this course?
Me: industrial automation is a huge part of the ongoing 4th industrial revolution and it’s potential is still under-utilised in Nigeria. It would enable the application of wireless technologies, internet of things and additive manufacturing into production processes, making them more efficient, reliable, sustainable and cost-effective. It would lead to an autonomous production process, with a remote monitoring of the whole system.

Vo:How did you find out about this sch?
Me: I did my research online for schools with my course option, then I worked closely with my mentor Dr xxxx in shortlisting the schools I applied to

Vo: how many schools did you apply to?
Me: I applied to 4 schools; Lamar University, simon Fraser university, utsa and texas tech

Vo: how many admits?
Me: I got into 3

Vo: why this school over others?
Me: the department of Electrical engineering at Texas Tech has an ongoing research in pulsed power which I am interested in, I also received a partial scholarship from the department

Vo: what hv you been doing?
Me: I graduated with a bachelor in Electrical and Electronic Engineering in Nov 2017 and was mobilised of National service in January 2018. During my service I worked as a physics and ICT teacher in a model secondary school, I completed my service in jan 2019. I am currently enrolled in two online courses in electric drives and programmable logic controllers as part of my preparation for graduate school

Vo: what are your plans after graduation?
Me: After graduation I plan on returning back to Nigeria, the production/manufacturing industry is currently experiencing a boom however there is a huge shortage of industrial automation engineers which is vital to the manufacturing process, forces most companies to outsource this position to foreign expatriates, My masters degree will make me well suited for such opportunities. I also plan on setting up an automation consultancy company targeting small and medium industries that do not have a department dedicated to automation.

Vo: who is paying for your program?
Me: my father is paying for my fees and additional living expense

More words at bolded. You never can tell when the consular loves talkatives. You need to keep talking.

Good evening friends. I want to appreciate every member of this great platform. I’ve benefited immensely. I wish to share my Visa interview transcript (approved)
Me: Good morning
VO: Good morning. Pass your Passport and I-20
VO: Why are you going to the US?
Me: I’m going to the US to pursue a Doctorate degree in Computer Science at the Manhattan Campus of Kansas State University
VO: Why KSU?
Me: From my findings, KSU has a very high research activity status. In fact, the National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland and Security have designated the Centre for information of the University as a National Centre of Academic excellence in cyber defense research. The computer science three-pronged motto of world class faculty, world class education and world class research, coupled with the presence of three robust data science laboratories makes KSU a great platform for me to… (VO cuts in)
VO: Tell me about your background
Me: I hold a Bachelors of Science degree and majored in Statistics and Computer Science with a first class honors. I went further to study for Master of Science in Statistics
VO: So why are you going for a PhD in Computer Science?
Me: The world today is marked with an explosion of large volume of data, data that are potentially useful and informative but structurally complex and requires algorithms and techniques to determine the patterns/trends so as to aid effective decision making. I’d like to be a part of the research team that would develop novel techniques to unfold these complexities. I intend to achieve this by integrating my knowledge of statistics and computer programming
VO: Are you married?
Me: (Smiles) No, I’m not yet married
VO: Okaaaay, your Visa is approved. {She passed me a white paper and my from I-20}
Me: (Wider Smiles) Thank you
{Got an email the following day to pick up my passport at the address I chose on the visa application which also reflected on the white paper she gave me}

Thank you! Thank you!! Thank you!!! I hope to read success stories in torrents. May God grant you uncommon favor in your interviews. Cheers!

Class! congrats

My point exactly you do you let others do them... there are many people earning 6 figures in companies you never heard of. ELITE this or that might matter to you but not to everyone

Some others it might be any job that file H1B and climb from the bottom to the top

Everyone climbing path to the top is different. I know a guy who did MBA got a regular job that filed H1B after he got his greencard. He went into entrepreneurship doing medical transport and making 500k a year . . The CEO in my current role is the head of a household brand name earning over 30 million pounds a year. I read his bio. He didnt go to any brand name school and rose by working his way from bottom to top. There are millionsof examples . Everyone path is different

Elite doesnt even exist outside of school... who elite help. It doesnt even mean anything.... that you work in XX , so ?... What might mean something is how much is in your bank account.. you be amazed at the non name working people bank balance. The true rich people are the less noise makers and the good they do with that money

You have spoken well. I have so many people in that picture. Elite na wash sometimes...Me sef don elite without going to elite school... grin grin grin

The real struggle is to define who you are by yourself. Don't be weighed down by your surrounding, circumstances or people. I have a guy that is graduating from ETSU computer science and already got an offer from Microsoft with six figures.

Hello all, I want to confirm, if is true that if you don't use your US visa, you will be refused next time you apply for visa. I have a valid B1/B2 visa which will expire by March 2020 and I am planning to apply for F1 student visa - will I be refused F1 student visa for not using the other visiting visa first issued to me?

No you will not be refused. But your b1/b2 visa will be cancelled and changed to F1 I guess!

Do you think I stand a chance on student visa since I have applied on visit once before and I don't have a traveling experience?

Yes! You can get the student visa! All you need to do is convince the consular of your studentship. You don't need travelling to secure the visa.

Shoutout to those who got visa already! Shoutout to those awaiting visa interview with positive attitude of having the visa already!

Well, visa interview should not be taken lightly. There's a saying that says whoever that fail to plan will inevitably plan to fail. You have seen a lot of testimonies that carries my moniker. No be me do am ooooooo.. Ngwam! God just use me to help them improve their weak point and make necessary corrections. Forget, the issue of going to a community college or university. If you prove your studentship, you will get the visa. It has happened on this thread, irrespective of your age (Its rare tho). But, believe in yourself and your God. there's Luck and there's God, whichever way you wanna put it. But as for me and my household, we believe in God almighty. Preparation is the key. Confident skyhigh. I am telling you as you prepare for your interview, have in your mind and digest this few points;

1. Be prepared for it. read, read and read. rehearse and rehearse, but not too much that you will sound rehearsed on the interview day and blow your chances like balloon. This VO are psychologists. They will scrutinize you and walk through you mind until you gbagaaan! But if you re prepared. No shaking! shoutout to 2baba

2. First impression matters. You go there with a strong face as if your village people dey follow you. You will get a strong impression from the VO back (You know what i mean). But let me tell you, no matter the scenario surrounding the interview proper, if na strong or cool, Our God is an awesome God. Nobody can stop you!

3. Maintain Eye contact. Eye contact passes a strong message of confidence. I look the lady as if dem born us together. Na wetin make me like girls be that (Na joke ooo) cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy grin grin grin

4. Be respectful! Those oyinbo sabi your culture! Be humble!

5. Mind your own business. Don't feel dejected because someone was denied right in front of you. Una no pay visa fees together. You guys dont have the same surname. Carry your cross!

6. Smile intermittently during the course of the interview!

7. Even if you're denied. Refire! don't be weighed down, dejected or lost because of a single failure! I failed 3 times! (See me bouncing today)

8. Give love and you will get love back!

9. Hit me up for mock!

10. I am heading to bed!

Wish all 2019 visa hopeful all the best! Go and make me proud! cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy

Happy Easter to you all. Miss the Family! grin grin grin grin

GMAT: 610
IELTS: 7.0
Msc (industrial and personnel relations): 4.0/7.0
Bsc(sociology): 3.18/5.0
Work experience: 2 years

He is interested in an MSc or PHD in Human Resources. I look forward to your suggestions

Try ETSU, murray state university......

Schools get levels and I agree with you, but not everyone has the right profile to enter top schools. What if he decides to go to a small school for his master's and then apply to a top school for a PhD? We all have different paths in life and the last time I checked, what gets you a job is what you know and the skills you have, not your school’s ranking.
I know a lot of people that went to ‘small schools’ that work for top reputable companies like Intel, IBM, Dow, Apple, Eli Lilly, Amgen, to mention but a few.
Ofcourse you have more opportunities in terms of funding, research facilities and personnel when you attend a top school. If you can’t get into those schools, attending a small school isn’t a bad idea.

That's true tho Oludare1! School, is not a yardstick to work in a big firm. You might not even get to enter a so big firm here in the US but work for a small firm and earn huge money like those working in the big firm. It all boils down to your skills. However, top schools play a big role in getting top jobs sometimes.

Why do you have to pay so much to receive your admission letter? Most schools send a copy via email as well as a hard copy. If your school sent you an admission letter via email, you can print it out and use it for your visa interview or for whatever purpose you need it for. Spending $105 to send your admission letter via courier isn't financially prudent, unless you do not have an email copy.

That can't be for admission letter alone! It should be for all the immigration docs, I-20 and co....I guess!
