Foreign Affairs › Georgia's Floyd County Fires Election Director After Finding Uncounted Ballots by thatsleepboy1(op): 1:37am On Nov 21, 2020 |
The Board of Elections in Georgia's Floyd County voted Thursday to oust Chief of Elections Clerk Robert Brady after officials found thousands of uncounted ballots.
Republican Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger blamed the problem on Floyd County election officials failing to upload votes from a memory card in a ballot-scanning machine.
GEORGIA ELECTION AUDIT FINDS 3,039 MORE UNCOUNTED BALLOTS IN 2 COUNTIES
Raffensperger had initially asked for Brady to step down and Floyd County officials met to discuss the decision before firing him, according to FOX 5 Atlanta.
They cited at least two previous incidents over the past six months as the reasons for his termination.
During a hand audit in the Peach State, election officials uncovered more than 2,600 ballots that were not counted before the county's initial certification, forcing election workers to rescan more than 8,000 ballots.
Both Republicans and Democrats reportedly agreed that firing Brady was necessary, though they don't believe the error was made purposefully.
Georgia began a hand recount of all votes last week after the Republican Party and the Trump campaign requested a statewide audit.
The review didn't change the results. On Thursday, Raffensperger announced that he would certify President-elect Joe Biden won the state. Biden captured 12,000 votes
In the end, the hand count confirmed that the former vice president won by more than 12,000 votes out of about five million cast.
While there were some slight differences from the previous machine tally, no county showed a variation in margin larger than 0.73%, according to The Associated Press.
“Working as an engineer throughout my life, I live by the motto that numbers don’t lie," Raffensperger told reporters during a news conference at the state capitol. “As secretary of state, I believe that the numbers that we have presented today are correct. The numbers reflect the verdict of the people, not a decision by the secretary of state’s office or of courts or of either campaign.”
Just a two-hour drive away in nearby Fayette County, more than 2,750 uncounted ballots were also discovered during the audit.
Georgia Election official Gabriel Sterlin said the issue was the result of several individuals not following proper procedure.
Walton County -- just an hour away from Fayette County -- found an additional 284 ballots.
The county's Board of Elections chair, Lori Wood, told the Walton Tribune on Tuesday that the problem was due to votes being previously uploaded from only one of the two ballot scanners in a precinct. https://www.foxnews.com/politics/georgias-floyd-county-fires-election-director-after-finding-uncounted-ballots

Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Wednesday had announced that new cars and vans powered wholly by petrol and diesel would not be sold in the UK from 2030. This is not a threat at all. Until 2030 comes, we will know what to do. What about other African countries? There'll be nothing like that in some parts of the world cos petrol vans will still thrive. Gas nko? |

Meet Sadiq Kahn (photos) We live in a world where religion and ethnicity differences are the other of the day. People have a kind of favoritism for someone who is of the same religion as them.
Even in social places like schools, banks, and offices, religious discrimination still takes place.
But one thing most people fail to understand is that a person's religion or ethnicity does not define them. Their views & belief might be different from yours but that doesn't make them inferior.
This short article is about a man who dominates in an environment most persons will find difficult or impossible.
Sadiq Kahn is a devout Muslim politician who currently serves as the mayor of London. London is not just the capital city of England, but also the largest in the country.
In 2016, Sadiq Kahn made history by becoming the first Muslim Mayor of England with a 57% vote. England is a country with a very high percentage of Christians. In fact, the core of the British colony is built on the Christian faith. So basically, Islam is a minority religion not just in London, but in England as a whole.
Mayor Kahn has Pakistani roots - another minority ethnic group in England. This generally means that he became Mayor despite coming from an ethnic & religious minority.
Not only has he served as Mayor, but also as a Minister of State for Transport and a member of parliament.
In 2019, Mayor Sadiq Kahn was named "UK politician of the year" by the house of commons.
Kahn is a practicing Muslim who attends the daily prayers and also fasts during Ramadan. He has been described as a social & liberal democrat and Muslim.

Politics › Opinion: How Umahi's Presidential Ambition May Truncate The Yoruba Presidency by thatsleepboy1(op): 6:21pm On Nov 19, 2020 |
The recent defection of the incumbent Ebonyi State governor, David Umahi from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) into the ruling All Progressives Congress ( APC) may have been greeted with some mixed feelings among the APC stakeholders and most especially the party's stakeholders from the Soutstates Due to the recent claim by the Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, that Governor David Umahi decamped to the ruling APC, in pursuance of his 2023 presidential ambition, the Southwest stakeholders of the party should not sleep with their two eyes closed.
As some may attach less importance to this claim, by Nyesom Wike, one can not overrule the possibility of the ruling party, favouring the southeastern part of the country, for the 2023 presidential race. With the growing agitations for presidency among the south easterners, I feel it really makes sense for the ruling party not to overlook the region in their political permutations, against 2023 presidential election. As it stands now, the APC has both Imo and Ebonyi states as the States they control in the southeastern region of Nigeria. It also means that, the support of the ruling party is being strengthened, with the recent defection of the Ebonyi state governor. With the way events are unfolding in the party, I opined that, some blocs within the ruling party might have been routing for emergence of APC presidential candidate, from the southeastern extraction.
In addition, southwestern APC stakeholders may have been feeling comfortably positioned to get the APC presidential ticket in 2023. But with the recent acceptance of David Umahi into the APC fold, the Southwest stakeholders in the party should not have the over confidence that, the APC presidential ticket is for them. The northerners in the party have not really announced the particular region they want to support in the South. This makes the competition higher. From the look of things, the South easterners are beginning to embrace the membership of the APC, the more. They have realised that, for the region to get the presidential ticket, that will make the candidate win in the general election, APC is the answer.
This is the time for the Southwest stakeholders of the party to come together and agree on sole candidate from the region, towards party primaries. Despite the cordial relationship between the northern bloc and southwest bloc in the party, the Southwest bloc still needs to up their game to be able to get the 2023 presidential ticket from the ruling party.

“With the upsurge in the number of commercial motorcycle operators, we shall intensify our enforcement strategy. This we intend to carry out along with the various transport union leaders.
We will set up a joint enforcement team to ensure that our roads are sanitised from the menace of okada riders.
“We hereby direct all law enforcement agencies; Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Vehicle Inspection Service (VIS), Taskforce and the Nigerian Police to immediately and continuously embark on enforcement on all restricted routes. With the above, whether we like it or not, another protest worst that the previous one cos we only say small thing compare to what will happen will rock the nation before 2022 and this time the north won't be left out cos they're also suffering and it is only God's intervention will the military from taking over from buharia that is if he finishes his last lap. |

He said that Umahi had begun a journey that will lead to the end of his political career, adding that APC will crack soon, and the reason behind him joining the party will not be achieved.
In the same vein, he issued a strong warning to the Governors, Aminu Tambuwal, Ben Ayade, and others against leaving the PDP for APC.
Ayodele explained that if the governors cross to APC, they will lose their political grounds completely.

“Also, to the governor of Sokoto, Aminu Tambuwal, the governor of Cross rivers State, Ben Ayade, and the Governor of Abia State. If they decamp to APC, They will lose their political grounds completely.
