Today is Fathers Day
Take time out to appreciate your father, for even though he might have raised you with "strong arms" you can not possibly neglect the role of a father in the upbringing of a child.
I personally feel fathers are not appreciated enough, especially in this part of the world. Take for example, there are numerous songs about mothers but you'll rarely find a song appreciating fathers.
So today, say something nice about your Dad, you might even upload his picture...lol

As for people like me whom our Dads are late you could say a few words of eulogy.

Happy Fathers Day

SportsDrake Under Fire As Serena Williams Loses US Open Semi-final by theimmie(op): 10:58pm On Sep 11, 2015
Drake is under fire after Serena Williamslost her U.S. Open semifinal match today despite showing his support from the stands.

The 33-year-old tennis star was defeated in her match against Italian tennis player Roberta Vinci, thereby losing her bid to become the fourth female player in history to hold all four Grand Slam singles titles in one calendar year.
Coincidentally ,Drake’s hit “Hold On We’re Going Home” began playing during Williams’ match, causing the crowd to erupt into cheers.

The internet is blaming him for distracting the 21 grand slam titleholder and he is being tagged her “bad luck charm”.

PoliticsSenators Use Lamps And Torches To Probe Power Sector After Power Failure At NASS by theimmie(op): 9:27am On Sep 10, 2015
Yesterday, The senate was deliberating and probing the power sector when a power outage occured. The anger of the senators was evident as most of them were seen hurling curses at PHCN and accusing the executives of power distribution companies present of intentional sabotage.

Power was cut at least twice within a period of six minutes between 2.20pm and 2.26pm. At the third outage at about 3.12 pm, the chairman of the committee conducting the probe, Abubakar Kyari could no longer hide his frustration.

“Are you tired? Are you guys calling your people to do this?” he asked the executives of the power companies present at the probe.

Things were to get even worst. Moments after he spoke two power outages followed at 3.26pm and 3.31 pm.

At this point, the probe panel resorted to receiving presentations using lights from media cameras, torches and rechargeable lamps.

Meanwhile, the Director-General of the Bureau for Public Enterprises, Mr. Benjamin Dikki, told the senate committee did not know how much it cost to privatise the country’s power plant and should be given time to present the exact amount.

He said he needed to find out the cost of building the power plants.

Dikki was responding to a question from a committee member who asked him to “tell Nigerians how much the power plants were sold because during Tuesday’s hearing, the committee was told $USD 8.23bn was what was spent on these plants prior to the privatisation.’’

“I do not know how much the (power) plants were constructed. I will make available the documents later,” the BPE DG answered.

Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Power, Godknows Igali, had denied speculations that the Federal Government was planning a wholesale privatisation of the Transmission Company of Nigeria.

He said, “I want to correct an impression, government has no plan to privatise TCN; what we are doing is to work out an arrangement so that the market will pay for services.”

PoliticsMilitary Releases Videos Of Assault On Boko Haram In Sambisa Forest by theimmie(op): 6:59pm On May 06, 2015
Nigeria’s military has released videos of its ongoing
counter-terrorism operations to dislodge Boko Haram
terrorists inside the notorious Sambisa Forest.
The video showed the dexterity of Nigerian Air Force
pilots, as they taunt the terrorists, with hundreds of them
running helter-skelter and fleeing into different directions.
In another footage, vulnerable women and children were
seen cautiously and deliberately guided to safety by the
Nigerian pilots.
An officer involved in the operation, who requested not to
be named, said the essence of the operation was not to
kill everybody in sight
“The Air Force pilots deployed their skills in herding both
terrorists and their captives in different directions so that
those conscripted and abducted were guided to safety
zone while the armed terrorists met their waterloo,” the
officer said.
Since the Nigerian troops invaded the notorious forest,
they have rescued over 500 females. In the first daring
and precise operation, the troops rescued 293 women
and girls while many terrorists camps, including
Tokumbere, were destroyed.
In another operation on Thursday that involved Special
Forces, another set of 234 women and children were
rescued through the Kawuri and Konduga end of Sambisa
Forest.
The sustained operations deep into the Sambisa Forest is
being spearheaded by the Air Force through “tactical
aerial bombardments and guided reconnaissance,” with
the main objective of decimating and clearing the
terrorists from the forest which is their last bastion.
The spokesman for the military Dr. Chris Olukolade, said
that the troops would continue the Sambisa Forest
operations ‘until all terrorists’ enclaves are cleared’.
Since the operation commenced, several field
commanders and foot soldiers of the terrorist group have
lost their lives with some armoured personnel carriers,
vehicles mounted with Anti-Aircraft guns, and several
trucks also destroyed by the military.

PoliticsBoko Haram Prepares For Battle In Gwoza by theimmie(op): 5:59am On Mar 07, 2015
Boko Haram fighters are preparing in mass at their headquarters in the northeastern Nigerian town of Gwoza, Maiduguri, Borno State for a showdown with Multinational Joint Task Force, residents and an intelligence officer told The Associated Press.

A woman, who was trapped in the town since it was seized in July, 2014 told her daughter that the insurgents were urging civilians to leave town to avoid being killed in crossfire in an anticipated major battle.

Hajiya Adama said her mother told her that the insurgents had also released some young women being held against their will, including some made pregnant during their captivity.

She said her mother left last week and escaped to the town of Yola, in neighbouring Adamawa state capital.

Adama said, “She told me that Boko Haram terrorists asked them to leave suddenly, that they were preparing grounds for a major battle.

“She said while being helped by other women to leave through Madagali, they saw many Boko Haram terrorists in trucks and some on bikes moving toward Gwoza.”

An intelligence officer said security forces have been moving slowly for fear of harming civilians, and especially since the insurgent group is surrounding Gwoza with land mines.
