So I don't understand the extremely poor box office performance you're talking about. Warcraft featured Travis Fimmel (Vikings), Paula Patton (Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol) and Dominic Cooper (Preacher). Detective Pikachu featured Ryan Reynolds as the voice of Pikachu. Are these celebrities not popular enough for you?

As for the names you mentioned, none of them can draw crowd at the BO. Even Ryan Reynold is not much of a BO crowd puller with the exception of Deadpool.

On the point of Cavill attracting a lot of interest to the series, I'm yet to see any reactions from any new audience. Basically every platform I've been on, it's still gamers and readers talking about the show. Abi, are the Cavill fans in ghost mode?

We can do a survey on the Series/movies thread if you want to know how many people was interested in the Witcher when they found out that Henry Cavill was involved.

You know The Witcher has books too, right. Are you taking the readers into account, as well? Bro, this is not some original material that nobody had heard of before Henry Cavill was added to the cast? Buzz about the series had started way before talks of casting Henry were even rumours. Sure, Henry will be bringing over some DC/Superman fans but they're nothing to compare with fans of the pre-existing material on ground, already.
So, basically, my point is that Henry is just one of the contributing factors to the show's popularity and not the singular contributing factor.

Bro, at least you tried in mentioning one (even though i asked for 2). However, there are instances where the popularity of the actor are beneficial to the roles.

Take for example, The Rock and Black Adam. The Rock is Famous and Black Adam is also famous (mostly to comic book readers/followers of the comic book franchise) but outside the CB world, how many people know about black adam? But as for The Rock, a lot of people know about him (both in the movie industry/wrestling industry/fashion etc... Hence him taking up the role has made BA even more known.... Same situation with Henry Cavill and Witcher.

And how is The Witcher not near God of War? As a game, I actually consider it better than God of War. As a merchandise, it is just as successful as God of War.

GOW has been around for long and has always been amongst the best-selling PlayStation video games from PS2 -4. Same for MG (it has been amongst the best-selling PlayStation video games from PS1-4). This is consistency.

The witcher just entered best-selling PlayStation video games in PS4 which is to recent to classify it amongst them.

Why can't The Witcher be compared with GOW or Metal Gear? It's one of the biggest and best selling games of this generation. And the franchise is growing as well. With the success of this TV series, it will soon be considered an insult to mention GoW or Metal Gear in the same sentence as The Witcher.

Stop putting words into my mouth, I never compared GOW the way you saying I compared. All I used was an example of a popular video game.

Henry Cavill brought the Witcher to the limelight.

If the Witcher was that popular, people would have talked about the games or its books. You can use Nairaland as a case study, how many people discussed about the Witcher books or games on NL or even other forums like reddit? Even if you get some discussion, it will just be few discussions. You can't compare Superman popularity to that of the Witcher.

Netflix used Henry's Superman popularity to sell it. This should not even be debated.... It might have been known to gamers (i will say few gamers sef) but non-gamers have never heard of the Witcher or even know what's about.
