Joker's cinematographer just won two awards (the Golden frog and audience awards) thereby boosting its Oscar awards chances.

The Golden frog is the version of golden lion for cinematographers cool
To be honest, this awards season is going to be very tough as we have strong contenders like the Irishman, 2 popes, JoJo rabbit, once upon a time in Hollywood, ad astra, hustlers , marriage story, endgame etc

forget snyder for a minute. For the fact that these actors can boldly c0me out and against wb acti0ns to support this, means they kn0w for sure the film released in theatres was a let down. Trust me, Ben Affleck, an acclaimed writer wouldn't be on to this antic if the snyder cut wasn't good. They starred in it, read the script, they may have seen the fo0tage. And it's n0t like if the cut were to be released, they'd make m0ney off it. But pers0nally, i think it should just end at that. Forget the snyder cut, if the idea is to scrap the dceu after milking the on going aquaman, w0nder w0man, suicide squad franchise, and start all over with Robert Pattins0n's universe, then great. Integrating shazam into that world wouldn't be hard. I believe that's the plan by wb hence the n0nchalantness in releasing a Flash film.
You think they studio is only here to make comic book movies? They have other movie franchises to make too. Ezra miller is already set for fantastic beast after that he will be available for flash.

It has been said several times on SM. So stop getting emotional

They are not coming out against WB.

It is so obvious you aren't even updated on the trend.

Gal Gadot and Ben Afleck tweeted yesterday for the first time on the Synder cut because WB was listening and the news was circulating round that they wanted to know if the people wanted to see the cut.

Gal Gadot and Ben did so in support as Synder fans on twitter have been saying previously that Gadot does not support Synder.

It was just a way of reaching the number of tweets for the cut yesterday and making it amongst the top trends.

So, with that it is sure that the cut will be released most likely on HBOmax

Exactly. I just mentioned Vader because he is the only other fictional villain i can think of that you can call a cultural icon with a cult following.

I'm done with this October argument but just wanted to point out that 2021 has 4 MCU movies slated for release. Obviously, this was following the whole Spider-Man rights saga that happened before (I believe) Joker was considered a runaway hit. Before Disney's recent announcement, 2021 already had 4 films.
The initial MCU movies had 3 please. I gave you the screen shot.

Also, you saw the part from deadline saying that Disney removed a movie in October to fix an MCU movie there.

I thought they had a perfect calendar?

Lol, it's all good. There is actually nothing wrong with getting inspiration from others.

Reports from deadline

Type Disney movie 2022 and look for deadline reports. Joker really made them shiver they removed their live action movie to put a marvel movie grin grin grin
AfricaGalactic and minemrys, hope you can see I was right again.

They even removed a Disney movie that was scheduled for that October 2022 date to fix the unnamed MCU movie.

It is also written that all their calendar changed cool

Just saw the ep2, it was very much okay so I'd give it a 6.5. I like how the story is progressing. I don't know if you've seen it so I won't drop spoilers.
But to be honest, it was short just too short.
Yeah, I have watched it and the ep2 was very good. A bit disappointed with the run time though.

I thought Disney said they spent $10m+ per episode on madalorian? It doesn't look so withghe run time.

He still has a massive fanbase. I never hear of Loki fanboys. Or Lex Luthor fanboys. Or even Venom fanboys. But Joker fanboys? Visit places like ComicVine and 4chan. He's comic book villain #1 in the world. No villain can boast of being as iconic or having as much fans as the Joker.

Well maybe Darth Vader.
Joker is more popular than Darth Vader IMO

Thanks bro for this.

It was just too obvious that Joker really struck a cord in Disney. They couldn't believe that a low budget R rated movie could make them look inconsequential when it comes to CBM. They initially thought they had 2019 in the bag after endgame.

People have forgotten that Disney had previously announced their movies for 2020-2021 with just 2-3 MCU movies per year. But after joker, they increased it to 4 per year while fixing an unknown movie for October 2022.

Lol. Joker is only behind Supes, Bats and Spidey when it comes to superhero recognition and massive fanbases. Anyone who sincerely thought his movie wasn't going to trounce the Box Office probably doesn't recognize Joker's place in American pop culture.
Joker is a villain not superhero and a lot of people didn't know it will be a massive hit, especially with the way the media dealt with it

When you have the president of the united states of America screening your movie for his guests, just know that you have blown.

To avoid unwanted box office casualties due to more movies being released qualifies as a reason. Nov to Dec has a good number of films slated. We know that with Fox under Marvel, we're primed to get either DP3 or Blade. Can't see a better release date for these movies besides October. February will most likely be GOTG3, May is BP2, July will most likely be a new series. And a Deadpool threequel is long overdue.

It is also a fact that Marvel and DC fans on Nairaland can't discuss anything without dragging their rivals in the mud.
If that's so, why increase the number of MCU movies from 2-3 per year in the calendar that they announced in July to 4 MCU movies per year after joker's success? Didn't they know it will cause more box office casualties?

So why after joker success, they increase it to four and included a movie for October 2022?

The Joker was a huge success. But the success can be celebrated without taking cheap shots at Marvel. Not everything has to be a dick-measuring contest with Marvel.
It is not a dick measuring contest rather it is the fact. Don't know why its difficult for people to admit to facts.

Disney, initially released their MCU movies schedule some months back, nothing about a movie in Oct 2022 was stated.

If you checked the initial calendar that was posted in the MCU thread, you will see it.

So, why after joker success, they decided to make it four and include a movie in October 2022?

Are we saying the same thing? I said the current schedule
Moving the fox movie to another month does not affect the calendar.

In fact, Disney has been dropping a lot of fox movies from theatrical release or even production.

They should do that and create space for the MCU movie in Nov

The current Disney calendar is perfect as it is IMO and well spaced out for B.O. performance. I don't see why they'd want to change it.
If it was perfect, why did they rush to include an unnamed MCU film? It shows that it wasn't in their original perfect calendar

Free for who? Fox (under Disney) have a movie slated for Nov 11, 2022. Disney have an animated feature slated for Nov 23, 2022. Then there's Star f***ing Wars in December 2022. I believe Disney is smart enough not to blindly shoot off their own legs at the Box Office.
They can move that fox movie to another date to give room for the mcu movie in November.

They did it to dark Phoenix twice, moving it from November 2018 to February 2019.

Then they moved it again from Feb to June 2019 to give room to Captain marvel that came out in early march
TV/Movies › Re: DC EXTENDED UNIVERSE (FILM) by TheKingIsHere: 9:48pm On Nov 17, 2019

OR...

With the FOX films Disney have inherited, there will be ~5 films making their debut between that MCU film and December. Thus an adjustment to the Marvel calendar would be apt to avoid cannibalism at the box office.
Or they would have just gone for November since that month is free.

I know, but Shazam was one of our best reviewed films.

WB should give us an announcement on that film, is that too much to ask
WB has a team that is planning whats best.

As you are asking for a Shazam2, some other people want a flash, some want MOS2, some want Green lantern.

The studio has to sit down and look at which is best fit.

They did an announcement on The Batman and now Black Adam. The studio is also focusing on how to promote Joker movies to win at the oscars.

If they didn't do that, y'all will still complain that they didn't promote their film
