I moved into were am currently staying in 2022 and have seen a small girl suffered abuse alot.

Despite having water running 24/7 in the compound the girl fetch water everyday, she run errands, bath and prepare her uncle 2 son for school and go drop them off.
A girl of 9yrs will do all this with no proper meal, she has no clothes, only wear rags, bruises all over her body
Sometime late last year I got a school bag for free and decided to gift the girl cos she carry polythene bag to school. The next day her uncle approached me, he first thanked me and ended it with I should have given it to the wife directly instead of the girl, I told him he know me and his wife aren't cool at all hence why I didn't do that.
He told me I should have given him instead, ok no wahala.
Guess what this woman didn't allow the girl use the school bag rather her first son was using it and the girl kept carrying polythene bag to school.

Matter at hand.

Yesterday I was off work, after doing some housework I decided to take a nap around 2.....voice of loud cry and scream woke me up about 20min later.
This woman was beating the girl as usual, this kept going on for 30min and I couldn't sleep.
About 50min later I couldn't take it anymore so I went to her apartment to warn habout the noise , after I got back inside my apartment she increased the beating accusing the girl of attracting disrespect to her.

I called the husband he didn't pick, then I called my landlord and explained things to him. I let him know I will get the police and welfare involved.
With annoyance he called the husband to park out since they are even owning him a year rent already.

This morning the man came to my apartment accusing me of hatred towards his family and his wife was raining insult on me.
I just asked him to pay me 20k he is owing me since last year May and the outstanding fee for pre-paid have been loading from February till now.

Am about going to the station to report him and his wife, getting the welfare Involved. My landlord is in full support.
Note- the girl is the man sister daughter, she is in the village

One of his female childhood friends in that area went missing under similar circumstances when they were teenagers and was never found. The police should do mass excavation of his parents compound, I'm sure Christianah's remains were not the only ones buried there. Parents need to know that it's not every time they must protect their children. If they know they have a raving sociopath under their roof, they should alert the authorities immediately. Imagine if this boy had been turned in when those 2 girls went missing, Christianah would not have met her horrible fate

Most don't. Those who do subsidise it for the very very very poor...and it involves some form of means testing. They also pay for such subsides with heavy taxation...beyond the worst that APC can imagine for Nigerians. And many of those subsidy don't involve government forcing the power sector to sell at a loss...more often than not it is in the form of tax breaks, and grants. And at the end the sector still makes a profit

It costs N160-170 to make one kwh of power. Excpet for band A , who make up 20% of all consumers...most pay around N50-70 per kwh. Meaning the sector loses money from 80% of its customers who pay. And with shitty oil revenues, mass corruption and poor tax to gdp ratio, as well as a debt to gdp service ratio that is still high as high....the government owes trillions of naira in subsidy payments.






China, America and Europe are all industrial nations with high tax uptakes, and who allow their power sectors run at a profit...which is why they can afford to pay for improvements to power

Again, subsides there are for the very very very poor, or are in the form of produiction subsides...not the explicit subsides we do here which are expensive, unsustainable, and driving us into debt...and making it difficult for the power sector to make a profit and attract investment.

Also, if you don't pay for the power you use in china, america and europe...you get into trobule with the law. IN NIgeria, you get hailed as a hero. And then you wonder why you don't have light....




That is part of why Nigeria is so poor.

Our budget for this year in dollars is 18 billion. For a nation of 200 million people, that is SCANTY. And note, that is before stealing and looting comes in...so if there was no stealing or looting, it would still be the same issue....we would still be poor. That is why corruption needs to be treated as a serious problem...and why I kind of feel sad APC Is doing nothing about it (and why I am too angry to vote for either APC or PDP or even LP AND NNPP...all the same thing).

Rich nations are nations that do not rely on one resource...they are either industrialixed and relying on resources. (Saudi , if oil should become redundant, whould be broke in seconds...and they know it). That is why America, Europe and China can affrod to pay subsides...limited, not explicit...because they are industrial nations that export industrial goods.

And that is why this tinubu government is useless, and all other governments are useless, because none of them have taken Nigeria down that path...instead na to sell raw materials, share the money...while the develiped countries take our raw materials , make expensive stuff, and sell it back to us, and take back their money plus extra.

That is why we are poor.

But any suggestion to increase power tarrifs to at least N200 per kwh is met with 'we are too poor'...so we get what we pay for.

Which government doesn't subsidize basic amenities for its citizens? Is it the Chinese that spends billions to subsidize electricity so the manufacturing sector can produce more?
