PoliticsRe: Interim National Government: One Propaganda Too Many (barcanista) by themano: 7:03am On Feb 16, 2015
barcanista:
It is no news that some media and personalities have been reporting of a "planned" installation of an Interim National Government by President Goodluck Jonathan. Sahara Reporters, Obasanjo and other "sources" are few people to be propagating this "revelation".

We were told that the Jonathan's administration has no plan to conduct the election and it planned to create a chaos for the Army led by General Kenneth Minimah to takeover the reins of power because they will rather not witness a Buhari government.

Later we were told that the President plans to perpetually remain in power by getting the NASS postpone the election for six months with the pretence of the crises in the North - East. The plan is to invoke Section 135(3) of the Constitution according to this theory.

Just of recent we were told by Sahara Reporters that their "Source" told them that Jonathan approached exHead of State General Abdulsalam Abubakar and "begged" him to head the supposed ING. The plan according to this source is to prevent Muhammadu Buhari from gaining victory at the poll. According to SR, the Jonathan government is to bribe NASS members with $2m and $1m each for Senate and Reps members respectively.
The plan here is for them to invoke Section 135(3) of the Constitution and declare the ING.

Aside from the fact that all theories appear disjointed and does not portray in anyway as to how Jonathan will benefit from the schemes, it also begs for the question of what is the possibility?

Firstly, Jonathan had told the US Secretary of State Mr John Kerry that the election will be held and a New Government inaugurated come May 29. President Jonathan repeated the statement in his media chat. So far, there has been no clue as to whether he plans to remain indefinitely. He also debunked the story of handing over to the Military or any illegal government

Secondly, the talk of Interim National Government is alien to our constitution. There is no way that can happen when we have no constitutional crises. There is no way Abdulsalam or Minimah can assume power except there is a coup. If there is any, then there will be a counter coup. Assuming Jonathan even considers bribing the NASS to get the six(6) months extension, he doesn't need an Abdulsalam or an ING to lead during the extension period. Section 135(3) of the Constitution is very clear that the incumbent preside over the country for the period of any extension. Considering that the opposition controls the House, the ruling party have the Senate, except there is a compromise, that will not scale through.

Thirdly, if the President is to exploit the Military. it will be to give PDP undue advantage at the poll by harassing the opposition on the day of election, and not to handover power to any Gen Minimah or a phantom ING that isn't feasible anywhere.

This talk of an ING is baseless, a distraction, a tool to heat up the already saturated polity. It is one propaganda too many. It is a threat to peace and our collective unity. I have absolute confidence that the election will be held and winner will be inaugurated come May 29.
Bro its high time you come over to PDP. I ve been following your comments. From Osinbajo autopolicy and other issues. They re not in ur DNA. You dont think like them and you dont know them as much as you think. When you are in Kano and they call u arna or kafir, you will know what you are dealing with. Come over bro, its not too late. PoliticsRe: Is This An Opposition Or A Conspiracy Against GEJ? by themano: 10:33pm On Feb 15, 2015
ChinemeOkpan:
I dont think he has. The life of the avearge Nigerian has not improved.
Gej governed this country when International Oil prices were at its highest in decades, yet Government savings is at its lowest. Government spending skyrocketed mainly due to a lot of corruption and leakages in the system. He has done well in Agriculture but can we have any evidence that the sector is contributing any higher to GDP or foreign exchange earnings?

His government has made millionaires and billionaires out of some people but the majority of Nigerians are not better off. The current exchange rate is $1=N204, leading to inflation and economic hardship for Nigerians.

The educational sector is still bad or maybe worse. He built universities without thinking of improving quality of teaching or investing in IT infrastructure. We need change. When politicians know that Nigerians will not automatically vote for them, they will sit up and start working.
Speak for yourself. My life has improve a hundred times during this GEJ administration.

The biggest mistake Nigeria ever made was to vote in Jonathan as president. He has toyed with the nation and everything has gone out of control, he no longer has a grip over the nations troubles. Rather than this greedy man admit his inefficiency and resign his post, this same man wants to hold on to power. May God hold the nation until he guides us to installing a real president in the person of Buhari.
Thank Goodness for the Freedom of Speech you enjoy today. Egyptian asked for change and Got Muslim Brotherhood. Nine months after they regretted the change and threw them out. Lol...Nnaa,Omenani bu ife eji malu ndi....When I went home people expected me to pull the "Americana" way but they were shocked because I spoke Igbo better than most of them. Even my old woman calls me onye Omenani. Well,it a shame that a modern Igbo isn't proud to speak their language and sometimes feel ashamed unlike the Chinese,Mexicans,Ethiopians and the Arabs but I swear the first language my children will speak is Igbo and speak it very fluently in core Umuoji lect. My children must be raised in my deep culture;I will instill it in them right from the very day they are born. When I was in Naija I went to see my elder sister and her kids were speaking English and I felt irritated and disappointed. I see people who aren't proud of their culture as inferior...I look down and talk down on such people, especially the Igbo ones. My bloodline will rule over them and enslave their foolish mind!
Its easier said than done. It depends mainly on the environment your kids grow up at. If they are in a place where they cant find igbo speakers, in the schools, churches or playgroups, you are daydreaming, unless you have no work and will be around them most of the time. Talking from experience..

No, Nigerians need to save Nigeria. We have the HIGHEST POPULATION DENSITY in the world right now. People up north and in general are breeding like rabbits and you think its not a problem. The Chinese werent stupid to enforce strict birth control at the time they did. Government cant provide all for a balloooning population, anywhere in the world.

We need to start thinking seriously about our population. Why would someone who is doing nothing, marry 4 wives and produce 20 children that he cant train and who end up doing nothing but becoming menace to the society. And the man will be blaming the government for his predicament. I am refering to the SAI BUHARI people up north.
We need a productive controllable population, or else all government efforts will be thinned out. China had to enforce population control to have some sane economic growth that is qualitative.

PoliticsRe: An Analysis/predictions Of The Presidential Elections In South East (igbo)states by themano: 9:50pm On Jan 17, 2015
9jagirl4ree:
I have been watching the election campaigns from all party candidates very closely and I have come to the following conclusions using a mix of both qualitative/quantitative research i.e. observations from newspapers, TV stations, interviews carried out and feedback from selected sections of the electorate.

There are going to be over 10 presidential candidates but I think we can all agree that only 2 candidates have a good chance of winning the election; Goodluck Jonathan (PDP) and Muhammadu Buhari (APC). This particular study relates to just the South East of Nigeria.

1. Imo State

The PDP has a strong base in Imo state and naturally, it will be expected that the party will inevitably win the election, however the present governor- Owelle Rochas Okorocha has proved to be a strong political leader that is well loved and respected across the whole state. A year ago, the PDP would have won the elections with a landslide victory but the Okorocha effect has totally affected that permutation.

Going by the popularity of Okorocha and his performance as governor in the state and also the fact that indigenes would want to ensure that they benefit significantly from the Federal government if the APC wins, the opposition party will win by a small margin

Projections: APC (52%): PDP (48%)

2. Enugu State

This state is controlled by the PDP and the outgoing governor Barrister Sullivan Chime is arguably one of the best performing governors in Nigeria. He has transformed Enugu state in all major sectors from education, industry, and the civil service. He embarked on daring infrastructural developments which as made Enugu one of the most vibrant and beautiful cities in the country. The state recently got recognition from the Guardian newspaper (UK) - where they predicted that it will be Nigeria's flagship city.

Source: http://www.theguardian.com/global-development-professionals-network/adam-smith-international-partner-zone/2015/jan/09/urbanisation-nigeria-rises-to-the-challenge

However, things have not been smooth for Barrister Chime, despite his achievements, he has faced interference in his government from the central PDP unit in Abuja under the command of Dr Jonathan. This reached an unbelievable level when his efforts to become a senator was recently truncated by Abuja. He is not happy and close sources indicate that he will not work for Jonathan's re-election.

Another major factor in enugu and indeed all of Ndigbo is RF Mbaka, his New year message where he lambasted the current administration has spread like wild fire and his message is resonating with the masses.

Based on these factors, it is predicted that the APC will win marginally

Projections: APC (51%) PDP (49%)

3. Anambra State

The case of Anambra is the most surprising of all SE states. Anambrians are noted for their intelligence, insularity and Igbo nationalistic idealism, they remain the only state who retain APGA as the state party. They recently voted in Governor Obiano, a man that has proved to be quite pragmatic and forward thinking. When he came on board, many Igbos thought he could champion Igbo nationalism but he has proved to be very smart and intelligent. Last week, he openly declared that Igbos are better in one Nigeria.

Sources from Anambra government say that Obiano is not supporting either candidates and will work with whoever wins. In the past, one would have expected Obiano to tow the line of his successor and openly support GEJ but he has decided to be neutral.

From a survey conducted in Anambra state, we call it evens

Projections: APC(50%) PDP (50%)
