1. I wasn't exactly shy, then but in JSS 3 I winked at a class mate of mine.
when she came, smiling and asked if it was her I winked at, I was so shy and out of sorts, I said no it was someone behind her
she was pretty and I don't really know how to maintain eye contact. I still don't know how to maintain eye contact

2. people in my class in SS3 use to mess(fart) a lot because of the food we were given as we were all boarders.
I tried doing mine slowly when my school principal came to my class, I didn't know when water water shit commot.

3. when I was in CEDEC, kudaisi street. I asked my class teacher to go out to urinate, she refused, saying I should go and sit down
within seconds, I urinated on my body then the teacher told me to go out.
I couldn't go back to class that day.

You attended CEDEC. That's cool.

What year did you pass out from CEDEC Primary school, maybe I might have known you?

Programming / Re: Dear Programmer In Nigeria: How Much Is Your Salary? by thenaijacoder(m): 2:45am On Jul 19, 2020
FahBuLous:

Just the same questions I ask others, just to get answers from different angles...
1st, Is being a programmer hard?? 2nd, If you estimate, how long should I learn before being good
at programming.. 3rd, How much shud I budget bfr thinkinq of learning it? 4th, Where can I learn Programming? 5th, Is it a qood career for one to pursue? 6th, Am I sure of being employed after studying it?
7th, I am 23, is it too late for me to qo into programming?? (Full stack web development).
8th, What are the things I shud focus on as a full stack web developer??
Thank you for ur time..
God bless u

1. Programming isn't that hard if you are learning or doing it the right way.
2. It depends on what you are learning and how much you are willing to learn it. It should take about 6 months or more.
3. You could attend programming schools but better still there are lot of free tutorials and courses that teaches programming on the internet like Udemy, freeCodeCamp and others.
4. Like I said there are lot of places like Udemy, Codecademy, Oreilly Media, freeCodeCamp, SkillShare, Treehouse etc.
5. There are lots of careers under programming and you should know what aspect you want to pursue.
6. Certain. You just have to know what you are doing and have good amount of experience on it.
7. It is never too late to learn programming. I have seen people who learnt programming at age 39 and got a job the following years.
8. Frontend , Backend, Cloud, Database and Software Engineering development

Sorry it might sound like I'm stalking you but I'm just trying to learn about the market

Thought your salary was $500, was it increased to that new figure?

if so, congrats man!
Yea. My former salary was $500 but after some talks with the owner, i managed to convince them and negotiated a price amount of $2500 per month and it worked out.

Thanks;.

Dear Programmers & Other Techies,

Please state the kind of company you work for and where it's located, the kind of work you do there, and how much you're paid.

This information will help programmers like you and employers like me a lot during salary negotiations. Thanks!

I work at an AI company that is into offering home management services and gadgets to customers. It is currently located at Austin, Texas in the United States. I work as a fullstack software engineer where i managed both the frontend and the backend aspect of the web application.

I get paid $2,500 monthly due to the fact i am working remotely. Hope this helps..

This is actually criminally low...even for a remote job.

Given your description of your interview performance, I believe you might have been right to think you messed up the interview.

But for $500 a month, you're worth the gamble.

Hmmn.. Good point..

Let's not say they exploited me, i would have asked for more but i kept shut due to the fact it is my first remote job. But i think i will be getting an increase in the next few weeks.

Besides where in Lagos do you stay?
Programming / Re: Share Your Remote Job Experience As A Developer by thenaijacoder(m): 4:55am On Jul 07, 2020

it depends on location, next time I would stay in Oakland fully and take the Caltrain or Bart to Palo Alto and save money on rent.
Although there are some ghetto part of Oakland not too safe but you go dey alright, they mostly steal Amazon packages.

Actually you will see lots of Latinos in California

Ooh.

Thanks for the head up. Maybe we could meet in person and talk more..

well California is massive tbh, I stayed in Palo Alto (rich white people, the only thing cheap is food). Then San Francisco, then Oakland (lots of blacks. I felt a lot better and very affordable too).

I was supposed to visit LA, but my money was about to finish.

I understand that feeling. Palo Alta is a big place and most of my friends stay there but i think it is usually contains Asian-Americans right??

What place would you recommend that is cheaper and affordable to get an apartment which are close to California.

nah I'm in lagos. I was supposed to leave last march before corona changed everything. Just so you know the 1k doesn't include rent oo. The bay area is mad expensive ( San Francisco)

Woah. That is massive. Which means i have a lot to prepare for before working onsite...

Luckily, the company is covering my transportation and apartment rent for 3 months if i plan to start working with them full time on their office onsite. though..

Can a graphic designer get a job as a remote worker

Why not?

But it is gonna be hard to get one. But if you know the right place to look , you will surely get one.

Forget that "feeling stupid" thing, you have remote experience now good for your resume and learn how to negotiate better next time.

Find out cost of living in the city where your remote company is based and average developer jobs around there.

I lived in California for 3months+ I survived on $1k per month anything less is just suffering.

Really??

I did research though and i gather all i needed to know but due to be in a haste to getting the job no matter the cost, i ignored some important facts.

You still Stay there??

Just out of curiosity. Did you study computer science in the university? I'm currently an undergrad of graphic design at a federal university of technology and while web design/development is actually just a course in my department I'm actually keen on learning it full time. I'm still on HTML and CSS though. What are my chances in the web developer world as a graphic design graduate?

Funny enough, i am in SS3. No computer science degree but i do have lot of certificates . Well, in the web development world, they usually refer to graphic designers as UI designers.

My best advice to you is to pick up UI/UX Design to help you have a higher chance of getting a good well paying job.
