Buhahahahahaha!!!!!

I laugh in Spanish! All the goons that were here justifying tolling and calling those of us who dared protest names are now on other threads ranting and raving about fuel subsidy removal. The same way you people said tolling is "development", subsidy removal too is "development". The same way the back roads in Oniru are alternatives, bicycles and trekking are also alternatives. The same way anubody that cannot afford to live in Lagos should leave, those who can't afford Nigeria should move to Cameroun.

What I like about this situation is that it has come full cycle in just 2 weeks and all those that have been justifying Fashola fraud and injustice that actually feel what it is to be on the end of such.
PoliticsRe: Breaking News: Fuel Subsidy Removed by TheOne2(m): 1:25am On Jan 02, 2012
My bro what is good for the part is also good for the whole. The fact that it was Lagos does not mean injustice should stand. As we say in the labour movement, injury to one means injury to all.

Abi, they came for the gypsies, since I wasn't one it didn't concern me. They came for the Jews, I kept quiet. Next time they came, they came for me,

Bros Coogar, the country moved closer to where it is when Fashola\Tinubu impoverished Lekki\Epe indigenes with their toll gates and shot at\tear gassed them when they protested. Don't worry, subsidy removal is part of "DEVELOPMENT". Pay up jor, if you can't pay move to Cameroun! grin grin

So you guys now see the merit in protesting? Well, for me I did a test run with the Lekki toll protest and saw how people here scoffed at it.

As for me and my family, we are not protesting again!
PoliticsRe: Breaking News: Fuel Subsidy Removed by TheOne2(m): 8:55pm On Jan 01, 2012
Everyone should take a deep breathe abeg. Now that it is an issue that touches you guys, you are all hyperventilating here. When we complained about tolling on Lekki road and how it impacts negatively on the people, you all said it was DEVELOPMENT and that those of us complaining are PDP politicians. Can the same be said of this move? Is it development and all you guys complaing ACN- guys?

Personally, after that Lekki toll thing, I've resolved that it's not worth fighting for the masses on anything. Politics and tribalism blinds too many people
PoliticsRe: Actual Cost Of Petrol Is N39.50 Per Litre – Coalition by TheOne2(m): 2:24pm On Dec 30, 2011
Is it that no one here realizes that the statement quoted below is patently false and embarassing to whoever came up with long write-up of flowery nonsense?

At the refinery gate in Port Harcourt, the cost of a barrel of Qua Iboe crude oil is made up of the finding /development cost ($3.5/bbl) and a production/storage /transportation cost of $1.50 per barrel.

Thus, at $5 per barrel, we can get Nigerian Qua Iboe crude to the refining gates at Port Harcourt and Warri.
If you look at how long that write-up is, you'll think the guy knows what he's talking about! Naija people sha!what the guy posted as price of oil is the OPEX per barrel produced in Nigeria and even that was for before 2003. Since the Niger Delta crisis OPEX per barrel is closer to $10 per barrel. That is an aside anyway. The price of crude going to the refineries today is what obtains internationally which is more than $100 per barrel. The crude sold to the refineries used to be subsidised but not anymore. In essence, all those calculations have the wrong basis.

Please note that I'm not expressing an opinion on the subsidy, just pointing out the falsehood in those calculations.

Lekki-Epe Toll Gate Protest

By Godwin Haruna

On Saturday December 17, a day to the commencement of the tolling regime of the Lekki-Epe expressway, a large number of residents opposed to the payment of toll fees on the highway came out en masse to register their protest.

The protesters were dispersed by security agents, but not without some incidents. In the ensuing pandemonium that trailed the action of security agents, a man was reportedly killed by policemen and thugs allegedly hired by the Lagos State government.

However, 39-year-old Femi Ogunsanya, the man at the centre of the controversy, told THISDAY Wednesday at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) that it had become necessary that he cleared the air owing to the crises the news of his alleged death had generated after the protest.

Ogunsanya, a member of staff of Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) Plc, said though he was beaten and injured by the police, he was not shot.

On the allegation that his wife came on air in one of the radio stations to confirm his death, he said: “The whole thing was a shock to me. I have no wife and have never been married before so I do not know who spoke on radio.”

Narrating how he was caught in the web of the crisis generated by the protest, Ogunsanya said: “I was just coming to work that day and when I could not get a bus to Ajah direct, I decided to break my journey. When I got to Lekki, I saw the chairman of the residents association and as I was exchanging greetings with him, I heard gunshots and decided to run for my dear life.

“But before I could run, some policemen and other hoodlums held me and started beating me. I did not know where the gun came from and hit me on the head. That was the last I could remember because I passed out immediately. I was later rushed to the Accident and Emergency Hospital at the Toll Gate. I was treated and I recovered. The scar on my face is as a result of the injuries I sustained on that day. I was not part of the protesters. I was on my way to work. I am the person in the photograph that was published in that newspaper, but you can see that I am not dead. I was shocked when I saw it.”

Speaking to journalists at the SCID Wednesday, the Lagos State Police Command’s spokesman, Mr. Samuel Jinadu, a Deputy Superintendent (DSP), said that the action was to prove to the public that nobody was killed as reported by a national daily a day after the protest.

Jinadu said: “The man who was allegedly killed is the person standing beside me. He is alive and healthy. You can see his legs; he was not shot on the leg or any other part of his body. The command was embarrassed by the report and that is why we brought him here for you to see.”

Jinadu noted that 18 persons were arrested at the toll gate on the day of the protest for unlawful assembly as no permission or approval was granted by the police to the protesters.

He explained that Ogunsanya was one of them and that he was released alongside the other suspects.

The Lagos Police image maker added: “We want to state categorically that although there was little fracas at the place, nobody was killed.”

He told THISDAY Wednesday that Ogunsanya’s re-appearance had put paid to all the rumours of the alleged killing by the police at the protest.

Both the police and the Lagos State government had vehemently denied any death of a protester after the December 17 protests.

The state Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, had set up a probe panel to investigate reports of the death of a protester soon after news of the incident was published.

@2AMLasgidi, it is intellectual Liliputians like you that resort to insults and abuse when they cannot marshall their points coherently. In the same report you came to post here with glee the guy said he was attacked by thugs and policemen or you didn't see that part? You have also suddenly changed you position to "asking me and my no-tolling people to show pictures" when you clearly stated earlier that you asked me to do that. There's a lot of inconsistencies in your stories which shows that you are clutching at straws.

It is ironic that you would mention me and yahoo yahoo in the same breathe when the wealth of this nation that your ACN- folks loot comes from the daily hard work that me and my colleagues put in to ensure oil flows into the tank. The fact that I try to engage in intellectual discourse with people on this site does not imply that I am open to cheap shots from your ilk who only know how how feed off crumbs from your paymasters.

I'm done with this already.
PoliticsRe: Occupy Lekki: Lekki Toll Gate Protest-update by TheOne2(m): 8:08pm On Dec 29, 2011
@otoks are you a troll? The events of the day are established by now and it is common knowledge that no one attacked the police. A combination of thugs and police attacked protesters and that it clearly evident in the account of the injured man above.

@2AMLasgidi, below is your reply immediately I posted the happenings on the day-

@TheONE: That's a lie!!! It is shameful that people like you have access to the www or the cyber space only to be spreading ruomurs and lies.

I was at the place here are the pictures to buttress my points. The first one was taken at about 9:40am when they orderly and fully on ground peacefully. I think they got frustrated that having been there since 8.30am or so they couldn’t get even 2,000 people not to talk of 10,000 to occupy the road.

How many were they very scanty actually. The police did not in any way molest them until the protesters started to force motorist to join them as usual of Nigerian protesters. (Must I join U if I don't believe in your cause) That was when the police intervened to make them conduct themselves peacefully. A protester moved forward to slap a policeman in d process for daring to ask them not to molest innocent citizens. This you can confirm from Simon Orukpe of Nigeria Info 99.30 he even reported it live on their station.‎it was then the police used tear gas canister

The second pix here shows how they went to block the toll gate (whyhuh)

I didn't see any ACN thugs throughout. We are in a technology age let them post the picture of where the thugs started d crisis,  You can imagine so called people defending the masses blocking same masses from free movement. If the campaign is popular you will not need to force people to join you. These blocked the toll gate preventing us from moving/using d road. This is not civil at all.
Clearly, you said you were there and there were no thugs. I guess the world knows who's lying now.

Thank God this is a forum where you can refer back to your previous posts. Can you please show where I said people died and then YOU told ME to show a picture of the person with bullet wounds. Don't "think", just show us where what you said took place in the history of this thread. If you cannot, can we then conclude that you're the person not fit for nairaland?

PoliticsRe: (lekki Epe Toll) Versus (m6 Toll U.k) by TheOne2(m): 7:54am On Dec 25, 2011
There are wrong basis in this comparison the most important being that LCC is tolling a 23km stretch 3 times. So you need to multiply LCC charges by 6 i.e. 43km\23kmtimes 3 tolls. Secondly, the quality is not the same.

If we even agree with the analogy, can we by the same token demand the same minimum wage from LSG that they pay in London? Same amenities? Or is the analogy only valid when LSG wants to fleece the populace and not when they should deliver quality to the people? And don't start about taxes cos we pay through our noses. A lot of people say Lagosians don't pay tax. Thatks abig lie. Whatever you in Lagos, you pay. Okadas pay to local govt touts. If you own a sshop both LSG and local govt people collect their levies. Roadside mechanics pay unless they want to be shut down.

@coogar you ignorant thing! You still don't get it do you? Stop making assertive statements as if you know! If you earn a million a year, you are not in the highest tax band so your tax cannot be 200,000.

I'm expecting your next show of ignorance.
PoliticsRe: Occupy Lekki: Lekki Toll Gate Protest-update by TheOne2(m): 1:35pm On Dec 18, 2011
@coogar is so ignorant! Is is that you don't know that tax band in Nigeria is 5 - 25% with 25% being highest. The reason why it's 20% for highest band is that you have a 20% personal allowance so it's 25% of 80%.

You people just come here as if you know what you are talking about!
PoliticsRe: Occupy Lekki: Lekki Toll Gate Protest-update by TheOne2(m): 1:28pm On Dec 18, 2011
I'm done with this discourse. For someone to say my taxes do not qualify me for amenities? So what are they for? To be embezzled? Or for Fowler (LIRS boss) to fly 250 people first class to Dubai for child's wedding? On civil service salary?

I know when not to deceive myself
PoliticsRe: Occupy Lekki: Lekki Toll Gate Protest-update by TheOne2(m): 1:09pm On Dec 18, 2011
Lekki is my immediate environment and I spend 95% of my time there. People in those areas don't have two heads as not to pay tolls. Which security are you talking about? I pay for security because police is useless. Which business environment? It's the most hostile anywhere in the world. Thank God I work for a MNC which deals in a global commodity not affected by local issues. If not, LASG policies and inactions would nearly have killed it. A lot of you do not feel the pulse of the citizenry, you have been given a hatchet job and you must do it without thinking.

And yes, fortunately for me, I've earned 40 million this year. Does that say I should be cheated?
PoliticsRe: Occupy Lekki: Lekki Toll Gate Protest-update by TheOne2(m): 12:55pm On Dec 18, 2011

PoliticsRe: Occupy Lekki: Lekki Toll Gate Protest-update by TheOne2(m): 12:50pm On Dec 18, 2011

I ask again.

I personally have paid more than 8 million naira in taxes thisyear. My question is, will Fashola alllow me claim my toll expenses as tax rebate? If not, what exactly is the use of all that tax?

Forget all the shenanigans and rigmaroling discussions, this is the funamental question people are asking. Does my huge tax not qualify me for amenities? If the govt feel they cannot do it and outsource it, is it not then morally right that I also withold some of my taxes to cover for this?

This is the fundamental issue
PoliticsRe: Occupy Lekki: Lekki Toll Gate Protest-update by TheOne2(m): 11:17am On Dec 18, 2011

PoliticsRe: Occupy Lekki: Lekki Toll Gate Protest-update by TheOne2(m): 10:24am On Dec 18, 2011
@gidimonster, don't be quick to talk, it makes you sound ignorant. You only need to earn 1.5 million monthly to pay 300,000 in taxes. The guy and his wife can easily earn that.

Me I have called officials of the LASG to offer them a middle ground that might be a way out of  this impasse but they seem to want to eat their cake and have it. My suggestion is hinged on 2 things. Firstly LASG seem to have themselves in a bind with this contract and cannot extricate themselves. Second is that most residents of the area actually pay a lot in taxes and should expect to have a free good road to their houses.
The middle point I think is for LASG to encourage the residents to register and use etags so that they can track their yearly usage and then claim it back as tax rebate at the end of the year. Where people challenge the suggestion is that what happens to those poor people that don't even earn enough to pay taxes but would be affected by the general increase in cost of living.
Anyways, I believe my suggestion could be a way out if the LASG wants to save face on this issue

Reporting live from the protest. We had a peaceful protest ACN sponsored thugs showed up with matchetes ans sticks and started attacking the protesters. We resisted and that was when the battalions of MOPOL started beating people and firing tear gas at us. We strategically retreated into Lekki phase one and locked the gates and they again charged at us with tear gas. At the same time they provided protection to the ACN thugs at the roundabout displaying banners that read "NURTW supports tolling". One image I will never forget is that of a ten year old looking girl raining curses on Fashola and his goons for the way they came to brutalize us. This is how it started in North Africa, if he thinks he can cow the populace with force then he is mistaken!

Bro Eteks, that road is not their proposed alternative. That road was constructed because LCC is fencing off all those with houses around scintilla. Abi you go say you no see everywhere fenced off there? Where will the road open to? And you think Chevron will agree for LCC to divert all that traffic to the road it constructed?
Also which primary and second schools are you talking about? Can you name them? Can you also name the functioning govt hospitals in the area?
PoliticsRe: Residents Warn Against Uncontrollable Chaos Over Lekki Tolling - SaharaReporters by TheOne2(m): 7:26am On Dec 16, 2011
They have confirmed recently that they have constructed half of the new alternative route for the Chevron toll gate and that they are still to finish the remainder. The road is definitely there. I've driven on it. Go and check it for yourself. It is a new road. Government is not allowing LCC to collect tolls at the Chevron toll gate until the new alternative route is complete.
LIE!! What if I tell you that I am one of those that paid for that road in front of Orchid hotels that you are talking about. That road was constructed by the owners of Buena vista estate, ocean bay estates and chevron cooperative. Since, govt will not build roads for us, we sha will pool our money together and construct the road. For you now to take the road we constructed and deem it an alternative and charge us for the one that was existing and free before is doubly evil and God will punish all those wicked people cooking up these schemes.

I work for a direct competitor to Total.

What's so unbelievable abt the figures. You seem to have closed your mind to the possibility and that my friend, I cannot help you with.

Shell is not a competitor to Total paywise, Exxon and Chevron are. Shell had a period when their operations were really affected and it reflected on their pay. Coupled with the fact that PENGASSAN is now very weak there.

@shola2009

I'll reiterate again!! Everything that I've posted here is exactly as it is. Siddon there make wrapper dey tie you.

Let me use myself as an example, I have somewhere between 4 - 6 years experience and my monthly BASIC salary is over a million naira. Now there are other allowances paid at different months in the year that for this year has totalled about 12 million naira for me. Asides these there are cycle payments, every four years for stuff like furniture, generator, car grant etc that I've not included. YOU GET ALL THESE IN HARD CASH (minus State Govt Tax). And don't let's talk abt the % payrise you get evry year. So guy, I know you are unable to wrap your mind around it (as in how can people in that bush called Naija be earning that kind of money), but Total pay for entry level (CASH BEFORE TAX - no non-monetized benefits) is very much above 15 million naira.

N.B. I don't work for Total.
