i got a redmi 5 plus (4GB, 64GB) which seems to have a fake ROM. I have since been unable to activate find device on the phone and received no updates

the miui version is "miui global 9.2|stable
9.2.6.0.0(NEGMIEK)

Any help on how i can get an original ROM on my device

I also have not been able to activate my find my device, but I've gotten update since the day I bought it and even updated it.

Guys, who else has the flash of the front camera of his phone shining steadily, instead of flashing when the person clicks the shutter button, whenever they select flash ON...

This renders the front flash nearly useless especially at night. If you select front flash auto or on at night, it'll just turn on like torch, instead of actually "flashing" and your photo would still be dark.. Is there any work around for this?

See yesterday I updated my redmi 5 plus miui to 9.5 and completed the 1.5gb download in less than 30 minutes even after the first 70% was mistakenly cancelled by me. Just because a phone comes with 4G capability doesn't mean I should go buy 4G sim for it (but that's my personal perspective sha)

This redmi 5 plus is the most beautiful phone I've ever used, by a distance sef!! Ahhhh!!

And I've used a lot of phones especially in the samsung line. I haven't used any of the new s8 or 9 series with the new display aspect but my friends have and this phone looks almost exactly as the s8 plus (bar the curved edge and the back).

From today if someone asks me how much I bought it... "oti 100 tousan and it's not in Nigeria bro, I had to order from abroad." See fine phone abeg and now I've updated to miui 9.5, I've removed the navigation buttons totally and am now claiming "it also has this immersive mode where you just swipe to go back and all bruh"

Combine it with my Chrooma keyboard that adapts it's color to the color of the app it's being used on...

I beg to differ, prior to my making my own review about the phone, every comment tended to portray the device in a zero sum light in which a person who got it, had a perfect mid range phone.

I ain't over complaining, just trying to be objective and instituting same in this thread.

Sir I have a redmi 5a and I get solid 6 and half hours of screen on time. I have even gotten 7 hours and 40 minutes once, but that was mostly watching videos online and all. The battery is very good for the average Nigerian.
The charging time is also not that bad.. I use a Samsung fast charger that came with my galaxy note 4 (because the charger that came with the phone has just 1000mAh output) and it gets full in about 2 hours.

2hrs charge time for charge for almost 7hrs is screen time isn't okay by you?

I've successfully updated it and it's all good. Still observing the battery life sha

Use olive oil instead, you just apply around the edges. You can use cotton wool in place of the brush.

After putting your screen protector on your phone, you might observe that some parts around the edges have air bubbles, you use this oil for fixing it.

How exactly do you apply the oil? I want to use groundnut oil to fix my own
