Typo jare, I meant to say Note 4X is faster than the Redmi 5 Plus, from all the speed tests i've seen.
Baba note that they have the same processor o and I've watched YouTube speed tests too, and can't agree with what you just said

Lmao. So Jumia have now added a lot of other Xiaomi phones to their inventory after the Note 5a sold like mad.

Finally

Their products are sha still costlier than what the marketers here serve us so ....

Everything you said here about the note 5a is TRUE except the keyboard thing. The software aspects of the one I got from jumia is very fluid apart from the aggressive ram management with apps restarting when in the background for a while.
Also if you're watching a video and click the recent apps button, even for a second, and go back to the video, it'll start from the beginning.
That is the only software aspect that I don't like. Every other thing is awesome

Camera is just meeh esp the front camera which always finds a way to make me dark. Smh. Rear camera with flash can be quite decent when it focuses on an object.. Without flash.. meeh again. In low light conditions?? Don't do it grin

Tbh, I didn't expect much from the camera for the price sha.

The battery takes quite long to charge granted, but it makes up for it by really lasting. I got 7 and half hrs SOT yesterday and H+ was on throughout.

Also something I noticed is that my power bank charges the phone faster than NEPA light and I'm using the original charger from the box. That's the part I can't explain

Update: I just checked the video thing you talked about now. It's not really 3gp 3gp-ish but the video recording quality really isn't very nice.

However, there is an option to change from HD recording to Full HD. The phone comes with HD as default so you can change that, but to be honest.. there wasn't a world of difference between the two settings
Maybe it's cos it's at night. Will try again in the afternoon

Good evening guys, I just got Redmi note 5a today...and honestly I would not say all my expectations were met. First I must commend the slimness of the phone. However contrary to some reviews here, the phones processing is not top notch, take for instance the keyboard is not very responsive and I have to double click some times to press a particular key. The camera is very poor for 13mp and 5mp rear and front camera respectively and the videoing is in 3gp format. Again the battery doesn't charge fast; at 88 percent, it took another 45 minutes to get to 100 percent.

This is my honest review about the phone, though I am open to corrections and suggestions/guidelines on how to get the most out of the device.

If that's how the phone came from the box then this is very wrong. I don't care what anyone else says about it.

It means it takes more than half of the ROM size. The phone can as well be touted as 16gb variant
Phones / Re: The Xiaomi Thread. by ThePrekky(m): 4:32am On Mar 25, 2018
Also remember that your camera output can only look as good as your screen resolution and pixel density makes it look.

If I snap with iPhone x and transfer it to someone using redmi 5a, they won't look the same (even tho they are exactly the same picture). So take that into consideration when judging how good your camera is. How good is your screen first?? How much details does it let you see at a glance?

Is it S-AMOLED or IPS? (Most people prefer the punchier amoled, I inclusive) These things affect how the pictures produced appear to your eye

This is really funny oooo, they are very correct jare, check the size of the pictures they are usually over 5mb, that's what Megapixel is mostly for grin. Megapixel hunters, take note.

If you want to get a good camera, check Google, you'll understand. Megapixel should be almost the last thing you should look out for.
Megapixels are only important if you want to zoom your picture in and crop off the very smallest details while retaining quality to a good enough degree.

OR

If you're in the advertising industry and usually blow up your pictures into billboard/ sign board sizes.

If these 2 aren't your cup of tea, then leave megapixels aside whenever you're looking for good camera phones.

Also all these people that leave their camera settings in beauty mode and expect it to shine, I dunno what your plans are. I used a friend's galaxy s8 front cam to snap last week and wanted to vomit till I noticed he didn't set any better thing there. It was almost as bland as my 2mp galaxy note 4 front camera, but for some reason he was enjoying it with all the washed out settings that made people look like they applied foundation under brown powder. Most girls love it like this too

Lol. Recently I've been so obsessed with the Redmi 5 plus, I've watched every YouTube video on the phone..

I was surprised at these videos..

1. Redmi 5 plus and iPhone X water resistance test.
.. Redmi 5 plus won, despite the phone not being said to be water resistant..

2. Face unlock with Samsung galaxy s8..
Redmi won as well..

3. Hardness and screen resistance to break or scratch.. Redmi 5 plus was quite hard, although I couldn't watch the video to the end, it felt too horrific seeing a phone being put through that.. My heat couldn't take it..

With the videos I've seen on YouTube, the phone is perfect for its price range and I'd even suggest this phone to God himself if he need be..
1. That water test video was not accurate. You don't test phones with distilled water as distilled water doesn't damage the internals of a phone.

I watched the same video as you did cos I ordered redmi 5 plus from noobody and have been using my eyes to do Christmas for myself on YouTube while waiting.
Redmi 5 plus really tries for a phone that isn't water resistant but if u submerge it in normal tap water for like 2mins, rice therapy will be what will save you afterwards cos the speaker will be botched. Watch other water test videos and you'll understand.
Apart from that it stands up to water splash, rain even pouring cups of water on it.. Very well especially for it's price.
But not iPhone x level of submerging under water or swimming pool, bros

2. The video you watched about face unlock is note 5 pro. Redmi 5 plus doesn't have that feature, but it has iPhone navigation gestures so I'll not have need to use that on screen navigation. That's my joy firstigodi!

3. The redmi 5 plus stood up to that test o. No scratch or crack. Was impressive

here you have it. For someone like me coming from LG g3 ..and thinking I'm a heavy user.. .this really humbled me grin
LG G3 battery is trash sha. Powerful phone with first 2k screen running on Nokia torch battery.. Same with G4
I've used both and had two batteries in both cases and still wanted to cry.
But your battery is really impressive. That's redmi 5 plus ba? SOT would be like 5hrs from that graph
Phones / Re: The Xiaomi Thread. by ThePrekky(m): 2:00am On Mar 12, 2018
For the amount the note5 pro is being touted at? I can't go for it abeg.
The difference btw it and the redmi 5 plus doesn't warrant that wide margin in price. Slight camera upgrade and bump from SD 625 to 626? Not even 630 at least or even 660? Habamana!
Every other thing is the same and costs btw more than 30k plus. Ha fuckugo up, dianyi!

Well there are battery tests on Youtube. Gsmarena also has their own standardized test. I use the RN 4X and the battery life is the best i've ever used(I've used a lot of phones). Now i trust Gsmarena battery ratings to an extent.

One thing is sure, if you're not absolutely obsessed with massive displays and battery life, the extra price you're paying for the the Mi Max 2 is NOT worth it.
Thanks a lot baba for the expo, I'm content with 6 inches of screen size, afterall the 6.4 inch of max 2 comes with a significant PPI reduction. It's just battery that I'm considering and if redmi 5 plus' battery life is anywhere as good as Infinix note 3's then I'm good to go.
Note: I'm not comparing the Infinix and redmi 5 plus o. They aren't mates. Just the battery life
