stagger:
I once tried to kill a palm tree by cutting off all its branches and dousing it thoroughly with kerosene. Plant grew new branches in a few weeks and sprang back to life. Wonderful tree God gave us in this part of the world.

It can even be used in biofuel production. In the Western hemisphere, the plant cannot grow there and they therefore need to produce biofuel from lab-grown algae.

So imagine how blessed we are: Jatropha in the north for biofuel production, and oil palm in the south. These two plants are the best sources of oil for biofuel production, and both are found in Nigeria.

But those whom God has blessed in this way, do not even know it. Today, a 25-litre jerry can of palm oil is N25,000. A litre of palm oil now costs almost 10 times a litre of petrol. Why are we not harnessing this plant for export purposes? Everyday I think of what we throw away in terms of opportunities in Nigeria, I weep for my country.

Very thoughtful

Palm tree is a wonderful tree, its butress root even taps water trapped in soil micro pores. Reason why the tree is evergreen.

If caught by bush fire, at the scent of water, it fattens unlike others that may not regenerate.

After a thorough study of investment trends across borders and over the centuries, one thing remain constant. The generational investment opportunities and human choices.

Much has been researched, experienced and said about the oil palm industry. Vast uses, zero emissions and social benefits. Majority of existing farms are old, ill producing and processed but having one litre of palm oil double the price of controversial PMS(Petrol) ever.

I will be sharing some of my thoughts and work along its value chain as time permits.

Hello Nairalanders

I am planning to start a Cabbage and Lettuce Farm but i Need some advice from experienced farmers in the house to guided me.

I need advice and suggestions about the following

A) Is it advisable to plant Cabbage and Lettuce in this season? Irritation will not be a problem because borehole will be available.

B) What are the best pesticide for Cabbage and Lettuce and where can i buy them in Aba?

C) Also i want to know the fertilizer for these vegetables, where can i buy them in Aba and at what price?

Please add any other important advice and suggestions that you think i'll be needing.

Thanks

Can I answer your questions one at a time?

A. If you have money to irrigate, you will make good money. Irrigation is far more than borehole availability.

B. You haven't started, you are talking of pesticide.

C. Have you a soil test? What will inform your fertilizer choice?

#insult not intended.

God bless your work,

Sincerely,

There is no known plantation in Nigeria currently. Foreign buyers demand at least 3,000 metric tonnes and they are mostly from the Netherlands in Europe. Local demands is high here in Nigeria.

Sheanut butter, a by product of sheanut, is one of the best selling skin care products. Its used as a moisturizer in cosmetic industry.

It is eadible and used as cooking oil. It is also used in chocolate industry as a substitute for cocoa butter.

It treats majority of skin ailments. It works like magic when used solely or combined with one or more skin care produce/products.

Sheanut is only found in the tropics of west Africa. It fruits 15 years after planting and yields bountifully for the next 30 years and more. The sheanut has high content of irremovable fatty acid.
