Annoyingly boring

Could not get past page 8 and I dozed off on it.

Quantum physics was way more interesting.

Please do you have soft copies of the following books? African Nights entertainment, the children of Ananse. I would do anything to read those books again

Unfortunately no. But you can check "ocean of pdf" online as someone earlier suggested on this thread.

Mothers Choice - Agbo Areo

Nice. Agbo Areo was a legend of the Pacesetters series.

Meanwhile there are some novels I read as a kid whose front and title pages were already torn so I didn't know their title but were so interesting. Many years after I still have that longing to finally know them.

One of them was an Egyptian setting. The main character was mostly in migration mode with some of his tribe and encountered several epic challenges. One of such was that he was captured and thrown into a pit that contained a massive crocodile/s that had never been defeated, but he was able to kill the crocodile and come out of the pit.

There was a lot of mention of the sun god Ra in that book. Abeg who can remember the title?

Smile. Great list

Thanks!

Sadly, it's been years since I've last read a novel. Most of the ones I read were when I was between 9 - 24 years. Can't seem to find the motivation to create the time any longer.

But the beautiful memories will never go away.

Harry Potter series 1 - 7 by J.K Rowling is the most interesting and engaging piece of literature I've ever read, but I don't consider it a novel due to the length.

For proper novels, my best five are:

1. Windmill of the Gods - Sidney Sheldon (The don of unexpected twists, mindblowing suspense and action. Number 1 for a reason)

2. By the light of the moon - Dean Koontz (Exciting mystery, thriller, gave me my first insight into fictional nanotechnology)

3. Kane & Abel - Jeffery Archer (a masterpiece in family politics, plots & business intrigues)

4. Shogun - James Clavell (Greatest epic book imo. My first introduction to Seppuku and other Asian practices)

5. Beyond Pardon - Bertha M. Clay (greatest romance novel in my opinion and to think it was written since 1890)

Locally, my best five:

1. The Gods are not to blame - Ola Rotimi

2. Arrows of God - Chinua Achebe

3. An African night's entertainment - Cyprian Ekwensi

4. A gift to the troubled tribe - Segun Okunoren

5. Shaka Zulu (the funny sounding names like bulawayo, dingiswayo were so fascinating to me at the time combined with the epic plot)

By the way who remembers the book below:

I’ve been seeing lines like “the team isn’t built around Palmer, that’s why he struggled yesterday”, “you shouldn’t have sacked Poch, he brings out the best in Palmer” etc.

These are unfounded claims.

If there’s anyone who understands Palmer’s game more, it has to be Maresca himself. It was the Italian who took him through his development at City Academy before he was promoted to the senior squad.

Working with him now and getting him to fire should be an easy-peasy job. It’s not like we were playing manyoo or Everton, this was a fixture against the defending Champions and with a team still work in progress, there was little even the 2023/24 Palmer could have done.

Young Palmer of just yesterday don already get version lol. Next we will have Euro Palmer, April Palmer etc. Maybe he needs a Maresca 2024 software update grin.

Doesn't mean I disagree with your general point though.

Thank God for the safe rescue by the security teams. This kidnapping menace needs to be taken seriously by the security authorities just like they did with the protests. With that same level of effort, kidnapping will be history in Nigeria

not only you bro...I pray Cancelo never comes back to this club

You see the game we played yesterday...cancelo will suffer and that wing will be too exposed. Simply put, cancelo is just too lazy and that laziness cost us alot last season.

Cancelo was 80% at fault in the elclasico that dashed our title hopes. Conceded a stupid pen and can't track back in Bellingham's goal

Cancelo was 70% at fault in the loss against psg directly. Conceded a stupid pen and can't track back in Dembele's goal

This and many more happened last season, I just pointed out these examples because they were our most important games of last season and Cancelo cost us in both

He's cancelled.

Meanwhile, Mallorca made my night. Successfully hate-watched Gbambappe & co.

Title race don start already.

Recall that Nigeria was disqualified from the relay race after entering another lane while running.

Twitteratis are also saying it's a dig at Tinubu too, and his snubbing earlier at South Africa during the president inauguration was premeditated.

Nigeria no get respect internationally for a time now

Methinks it was a shade at both the Nigerian relay team and Chidimma Adetshina. That stay your lane comment aptly applies to both circumstances when you also consider the recent timing of these events.

The reference to Tinubu seems forced mostly by anti-Tinubu sentiments in Nigeria. Ramaphosa at least tried to correct the impression at the time by personally visiting Tinubu directly. Also the timing gap makes it unlikely that the dig was aimed at Tinubu.

Regardless, Ramaphosa's comment was very petty and unbecoming of a President. It's like if Akufo-Addo or Tinubu starts throwing shades over the Nigeria-Ghana banters. It should be beneath them.

Lol seriously I believe the GK department is the easiest role in football to get good quality for cheap. There are tons of very good ball playing GKs better than MATS that are playing second fiddle to the first choices all across Europe. Flick needs to open his eyes and prioritize this.

Even the best strikers still miss glaring chances. It's the ability to always eventually right those misses that stands them apart.

Seriously, that 19 year old Milan keeper put Ter Static to shame. It seems there's no way back for him at this point.

The intensity from the team in the second half is something I rarely saw with Xavi at the helm. Even Lewy seems to be cooking again. Pau Victor and Cassado were brilliant as usual.

Overall, the signs look good.

It's not an academic loss. I'm sure what you meant to say is that it's an unrealized loss.

If they were to sell off their shares today, the financial loss will be a reality, hence it isn't academic. If the stock market rebounds and they record gains, such gains are also unrealized until they offload the shares.

This Jersey slowly growing on me. I liked the fan version better but this is looking somewhat good too.

It's actually quite beautiful. The combo patterning just sits right and I particularly like the dark hue for the blue segment.

It resembles the 2012/2013 season version a bit in my view maybe because it was the last one I really liked.

This is where I take my leave. Religion is as real as superman and Harry Potter. If you decide to take a demonstration about an ancient mythical greek god out of context just to start a propaganda then that's on you and not the organizers.

You are just playing ostrich or missing the point entirely!

The point is not whether Christianity, Islam or any other religion is true or not. The realness is that there are billions of people who ardently follow these beliefs and are stakeholders in the Olympic event.

Why would you then depict a picture that appears to mock a section of them? Pray tell, why are the French promoting Dionysus a Greek character in a French Olympic when we already had Athens 2004 to do that, if there was no hidden agenda to use it as a smokescreen for the mockery of the Last Supper. Olympic hosts celebrate their treasures and dont go after other countries own.

You do not seem to understand cultural sensitivity in a globally diverse setting. There are lines you don't cross publicly regardless of your personal beliefs.

You guys are very funny. You think your religion is unique lol. Bro all the ancient gods were also represented by holy halos. It's not unique to only Christianity. Infact you stole it from those ancient religion. You and others are using a presentation about the Greek god Dionysus to run a meaningless propaganda.

This is London 2012 opening ceremony you were talking about. If Voldemort and Harry Potter were not popular most would have termed it Devil worship, Satanism etc

You are comparing apples and oranges. The Harry Potter sphere is a subject of fandom not religion. Same as James Bond, Avengers, Mr Bean & co. Your analogy is fiction just like Harry Potter.

Religion is real on the other hand. As a smart person in a global ecosystem, you have to be emotionally and culturally sensitive especially when what you are showcasing will impact billions across diverse races and religion. Surely this is not an alien concept to you.

The Greeks put halos around their gods. The French did not put any halo around the supposed greek God Dionysus but instead put it on the fat lady "Jesus". Stop denying the obvious.

Just look at the reaction generated below. Why will you allow an event like Olympic that's supposed to unite globally degenerate into controversy?

Bro the presentation has nothing to do with Christianity. You have just cooked up something in your mind to get angry about. It was a depiction of the Greek god Dionysus. It's an homage to the Greek mythology of Dionysus where the freaking Olympic originated from.

It's Dionysus in form, Xtianity in substance. Even the Greeks are complaining that it doesn't look anything like Dionysus.

Elon Musk, several global Media outlets, Fox News, Daily Mail have all reported the apparent impression of the act making a mockery of Christians. Do you think they are all just cooking it up?

What does the fat Lady in the middle with a halo-like crown imply? Is that not reminiscent of the popular halo on Jesus in the painting by Leonardo da Vinci?

I'm not angry, I'm just saying that it was unnecessary from the organizers knowing the most obvious impression and controversy it will generate.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Champions Of Europe 2021 by ThierryJay: 11:27am On Jul 27
Na overwokeness go kill France abi Europe sef.

Why mock christianity so blatantly with a satirical parody of the last supper in front of the entire world? Can they try that with the other main religion and not see a global backlash of unimaginable proportions?

The entire ceremony was just a mish-mash parade of elujibiti kiu ideology. Na only women dem celebrate for their history. I thought it supposed to be a gender-balanced agenda not gender-monopoly.

Paris 2024 really fall hand. London 2012 was the bomb especially the James Bond grand entrance from a parachute off a Chopper. Mr Bean's performance too was great. Now that's authenticity.

RaptorX:
How is that picture mocking Christ and what is the similarity to the last supper.

It is actually. A satirical mockery of the last supper painting of Leonardo Da Vinci.

If you watched the ceremony yesterday, you'd see where the Elujibiti kiu people were in a plate that was uncovered in front of the fat woman "Jesus" along with her 12 "disciples".

It was in blatantly bad taste. I cannot imagine them mocking Islam in same way in front of the whole world without backlash of unimaginable proportions.

Yesterday's ceremony was infused with too much wokeness. Literally stuffing it right down people's throats. Too much of everything is bad. There should be a balance.
