Politics / Re: Akin Alabi Dances Shaku Shaku To Celebrate His Inauguration With Constituency by ThierryJay: 6:58am On Jun 15
Our political leaders should really be more tolerant of dissenting opinions. There was no need for Akin Alabi's response to the other guy saying he should not have celebrated his inauguration until after he delivers. He should just have moved on, or explain his stance if he wanted to reply. His actions may come across as being intolerant of criticism.
That being said, congratulations to him. Please note that performance is not measured by opening more NairaBet shops o

Oga, I was not disappointed at all, Portugal were already the favorites in this final being at home. Moreso, Van Dijk's chance to seal the Ballon d'or would have been stronger if Netherlands had won.
So long as Ronaldo did not do anything of note in this final, the outcome perfectly suits me!

CR7 fans can gloat all they want and continue to wallow in their self-delusion.
MESSI will still win this year's ballon d'or. His individual performances this year far outweigh that of CR7, who was a passenger in this final.
Do they realize that the UEFA Nations League was a mere substitute for friendly matches Something that will be played every year, just like all these pre-season tournaments in the US and Europe. How that becomes a basis to diss Messi is beyond me. Even what he played in this final was not even close to Messi's performance in the two Copa finals Argentina lost.
Do CR7 fans even know the import of being called the GOAT?? You think it's by being lucky? No matter how much you deceive yourselves, there is only one GOAT and that is Lionel Andres Messi who is incomparable.
The term GOAT was originally coined for Messi anyway, CR7 fans are just trying to steal it from Messi, instead of developing a new moniker for their idol. Something like: Greatest Opportunist of All Time.
CR7 should enjoy his trophy as he will not get any personal UEFA award this season.
Sports / Re: Messi Scores Brace As Argentina Beat Nicaragua 5-1 (photos) by ThierryJay: 3:35pm On Jun 08
Normal brilliant performance from the best player in the world. He carries the burden of Argentina on his shoulders. It doesn't matter that it's Nicaragua they re playing against as they were very physical against Messi very unlike a friendly match.
Those who criticize Messi for his efforts appear not have a footballing brain. Individually, no player comes close to his super level of consistency in churning out match winning performances day-in day-out. One off-day throughout the entire season will not change this fact.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Barcelona Vs Valencia: Copa Del Rey Final (1 - 2) On 26th May 2019 by ThierryJay: 10:47pm On May 25
This is the least painful defeat Barca has had for me. The bright side is that there's a good chance Valverde'll be asked to leave due to the result. And for the ignorant peeps spewing thrash about Messi, the guy was the best player on the pitch today on both sides, demonstrating outrageous pieces of skill yet and yet again, worked the Valencia Keeper and the Bar, scored a revitalizing goal and was unlucky to get a brace in this match.
The frustrating thing is Barca appear to be absolutely clueless in scoring if Messi is not involved. That's gonna be the main headache for the new incoming coach.

Haaa!, BillyOnaire, your thought process is really sick and warped. It's not that you are not intelligent (u appear to be quite cerebral) but this POV of yours here is just being mischievous. If this is what you really believe in then I think there is no point arguing with you. You want to know why?
The reasons you put forward for sympathizing with the paedophile's action have wider far-reaching consequences. If we were to apply the same to every sphere of life, then the world would be in utter chaos with no semblance of what is right or wrong, as it will be a case of each is bound by his own belief. Murderers will have a field day, Criminals in general will find spiritual justifications for their heinous deeds. But I guess with a guy like your mindset, you'd probably think this possibility is acceptable because it's prolly gonna be some kind of weird mystically pre-determined stuff.
I don't even know what to say again.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Barcelona Vs Liverpool: UCL Semi Finals (3 - 0) On 1st May 2019 by ThierryJay: 12:34am On May 02
Frankly your plenty musings have no purpose and no substance. At the time Messi started in 2005, Eto,o and Gudhonsen were the main and support strikers as well, Henry came to join in 2007. Messi was an out and out winger from 2005 - 2008. Remember the clash the battle between Messi and Asier Del Horno of Chelsea in 2005/06 UCL? Ashley Cole in 2006/2007? Remember his greatest goal against Getafe from the wings, so many of his goals during this period were from cutting from the wings just like Arjen Robben. So I think your attempted point is unfortunately no point at all.
Both of the players had similar trajectories in developing from wing based players to a more central role over their career, and are comparable on this basis. There are no EXCUSES!

Lol, what a lame excuse! Even the excuse is a fallacy. For your information, CR7 started playing as a false 9, or winging striker, whatever you may call it, from the 2007/2008 season when he scored 42 goals. Many of the goals were from striking positions. So it was only for 4 seasons he played as a proper winger.
Funny enough, Messi started playing as a false 9 from the 6-2 win against RMadrid in 2008/2009 season. So he even started his striking duties almost 2 seasons after CR7.
Pls be guided bro!
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Barcelona Vs Liverpool: UCL Semi Finals (3 - 0) On 1st May 2019 by ThierryJay: 11:12pm On May 01
Oga, dey lie small small nah. You CR7 fans made a louder noise when he scored the hattrick against a weak Spanish defence. You were even humiliating Messi all over social media with memes the next day he missed the penalty against Iceland! You guys were literally screaming!
It's Ronaldo's turn to be humiliated. And sadly for you, he may never even achieve the heights he previously reached in the UCL.
Lest I forget, Messi is definitely GREATER than CR7. I would have said Ronaldo but that's an insult to the real phenomenon, Ronaldo Da Lima.

You are the one who is spewing. Cr7 in his prime is certainly one of the most skillful players and dribblers in history.
One of the most skillful while at Man Utd - Yes, One of the best dribblers in history in his prime? - No, as there have been tons of better dribblers than CR7 since his premiership days. Alexander HLeb was a better dribbler than CR7 while in EPL. Hazard, Hatem Ben Arfa, Wilfred Zaha, Neymar, Salah, Robinho, Robben, Ribery, and some others were better dribblers and these are not even the greatest players.
I am pretty sure Romario, ronaldo delima, rivaldo or ronaldinho weren't that great in their 30's!
CR7 has not been skillful in his thirties either
Imagine you mentioning Romario in the same sentence as CR7! Nostalgia kill you there!
Why not? Obviously you don't know your football history. Romario has won a world cup, a FIFA best player and Ballon d'or. He has 929 career goals, which is about two hundred and fifty goals more that CR7's current total.
'messi has more header goals than Ronaldo has solo goals'. Do you have any officiall source for this?
Messi has scored at least 25 headers for club and country till date. The goals where Ronaldo dribbled past at least one player and scored is not more than 20.
'messi the most/best efficient dribbler in history'. Again by what metric of efficient dribbling and how does he compare to other dribblers in history? Show your source. Funny enuff messi at old age is boasting his best dribbling completion rate in his career, about 67% compared to his early career were he had around 50% completion or so. Eden hazard regularly hits 70% completion rate.
In 2011 UCL final, Messi completed 13 dribbles against Man Utd on the biggest of stages, the highest in a UCL final game since 2000. The completion rate was over 80% in that game, hence your assertion is false.
Anyway, looking at ronaldo's career in total. He has been a world best(at least top 2) dribbler, one of the most skillful players in history, a creator(right/left midfielder), scored MANY solo goals, a world best freekick taker at a point, world best header(probably in history), world best shot taker, world best penalty taker.
Like I said, Ronaldo is nowhere near the world best ever dribblers, has not scored many solo goals relative to his total goal haul, Has never been the world best free kick taker cos of Juninho Pernambuchano, Current world best header - yes, Lampard was a better shot taker than CR7. World best penalty taker in the last 15 years - definitely YES.
Oboy Relax. Apart from maradona no one in your lists headers+skilful list comes close to CR7 in greatness.
FALSE, Ronaldo da lima was far more skillful than CR7. Ronaldinho has been the most skillful player in football history. Zidane had better technique and sublime skills, Pele's skill was overarching, Cryuff invented skills. So you obviously just started following football recently from your submissions!
Sports / Re: Ronaldo Makes Transfer Demand After Juventus’ Champions League Exit by ThierryJay: 11:46am On Apr 19
Your daftness is legendary. Has Messi already not played Atletico about a few weeks ago in La liga, where he was dribbling them at will and even scored from a run from midfield? Messi has already shined against Tottenham, Lyon (that beat PSG and Man City this season) and Man Utd in UCL this season, and you think these guys are not tough?
You are asking how many goals Zidane or Van Nistelrooy scored in the CL? I really cringe at the vacuum upstairs in yours truly, as you could not even understand that these guys I mentioned made significant impact in their careers from different skill sets.
Sports / Re: Ronaldo Makes Transfer Demand After Juventus’ Champions League Exit by ThierryJay: 10:42am On Apr 19
Don't mind them. Messi has become a victim of his own greatness. He is judged by a different standard because he has made difficult things appear ordinary. With Messi you are almost guaranteed to see a great goal from him every damn week. CR7 will score about 3 great goals all season and they will be shouting, he still wouldn't even score as much as Messi.
Goals have become synonymous with ballon d'or lately. That's the sad reality.
Sports / Re: Ronaldo Makes Transfer Demand After Juventus’ Champions League Exit by ThierryJay: 10:18am On Apr 19
You keep spewing rubbish. I doubt you understand the concept of football as an art. Imagine glorifying headers that thousands have scored. Before Ronaldo, there have been countless strikers renowned for their heading ability. The likes of Kluivert, Gerd Muller, Shearer, Christian Vieri, Miroslav Klose, Van Nistelrooy, Oliver Bierhoff, Gary Lineker, Even Giroud. But you know what, heading ability has never put any of these players on the pedestal of supreme greatness.
The very best are associated with technical and dribbling skills, which are obviously more difficult than headers. The Maradonas, Peles, Ronaldo da limas, Romarios, Cryuffs, Ronaldinhos, Zidanes, Zicos, Garrinchas, were known for their extraordinary skills which they put on display even in the biggest matches.
Messi is the best effective dribbler in football history which means he is able to perform the most difficult skill in football and convert them into goals. He has scored the most solo goals in professional football history. For you to even try to compare this achievement with mundane headers shows you lack understanding of football values, no apologies.
And yes, Messi has scored more headed goals in his career than Ronaldo has scored solo goals (How does that feel lol)
Messi has scored more shots outside the penalty box than Ronaldo in their careers.
Please argue intelligently if you want to reply me.

I disagree with the notion that he caused the Sevilla goal. Granted that the counter attack was from his blocked pass. But the loss of possession by Messi happened in front of the Sevilla penalty area, hence, there is absolutely no justification for the Barca defence to be so opened up like that just because Messi lost possession 100 YARDS away from his goal. It's obvious they were carried away with possession at the moment Messi was with the ball.

Religion / Re: Daddy Freeze Is A Liar, Tithing Is Very Scriptural And Was Approved By Jesus by ThierryJay: 10:09am On Dec 16, 2018
This your comment is worrisome supposedly from a Christian who has studied his word in detail.
There is absolutely no doubt about what Jesus meant when he said you should love your neighbour as yourself. This should be reflected in your daily actions. There is no modification whatsoever in form of any "per se". The example you gave is not valid as the context is sinful. Hence, you cannot be said to be showing your neighbor love by exposing him to a sinful situation.
That being said. The issue of not tithing predates Daddy Freeze, as I'm aware of several Christian scholars that do not practice tithing since decades ago. The Christian life that Jesus bestowed on us is a life of being led by the Holy Spirit and not by following rules. The quote by Jesus you cited on hypocrisy of tithing was made to the Scribes and Pharisees. Gentiles are neither of both, The context of that passage does not apply to non-Jewish Christians who uphold the main essence of Christianity which is LOVE of God and your Neighbour.
Christians are not bound by the Mosaic law as explained in Hebrews. Tithing is part of this law which has been nullified by the new testament. However, the law has been replaced by Godly principles, of which the underlying principle in this context is Giving to God and Man. You cannot express love without giving. For God so LOVED the world, that he GAVE is only begotten son..... Having an understanding of this is crucial for you to know that you are not bound to a rule.
Not tithing does not absolve Christians from the responsibility of giving abundantly to God and man. That is why Giving was what was emphasized for the new testament church.

Business / Re: Real Reason HSBC And UBS Exited Nigeria! by ThierryJay: 5:53pm On Nov 10, 2018
I must commend the OP's write-up. It was clear and very believable. I must say that this doesn't mean other apparently contrary opinions do not have their own merits.
My take is that the OP's well-articulated analysis does not present a complete picture of the value chain within the financial system, which may be more complex than what has been presented. It only speaks to the foreign transfer of funds aspect.
There are so many variables. While it is obvious that the restriction on illicit foreign transfers, due to TSA, BVN.., might have reduced HSBC and Co's Nigerian client base, what the OP did not address is their investment banking portfolio performance. By this, I mean investments in stocks, bonds and other securities/financial instruments, etc. The slow recovery of the Nigerian stock market might have also influenced their exits especially where the long-term outlook for their investments is considered bad.
I do not know whether the gains recorded from the foreign fund transfer are more significant than those from investment portfolio, in which case the TSA clamp down will have given impetus to their exits. My point is, it is likely not the only major factor.
Irrespective of the ethical and regulatory merits of the OP's analysis, the overall fallout of HSBC and UPS's exits will still be that negative signals will be sent to the foreign investing community (not to you). And that is a crucial issue the Buhari administration has to address.
