Rilwayne001: Yes. But Jesus in Luke was drinking a fermented wine hence his reason for telling the Jews to not assume that he's a drunkard. Or do you get high on nonalcoholic wine?
Besides we can safely assume that the water he turned to wine at the feast as according to John was Also a fermented wine, basically because it's tradition in Jewish wedding ceremony to serve fermented wine and, if Jesus had provided only grape juice, the master of the feast would have complained. Instead, he said the wine was better than what was previously served; it was apparently a fermented wine.
If only you are going to have an open mind, you'd see that the wine Jesus took in Luke has alcohol. And that of the Passover sef. The more reason while Catholic still use alcoholic wine to celebrate the Passover till this day. You're assuming. Do you know what fermentation entails? If Jesus turned water to wine at the wedding, are you saying the miracle also included the miracle of fermentation since it was instant? The master of the feast commented that the wine was better because of the quality and not because it intoxicated. |

Rilwayne001: The bolded is totally different from 'don't drink'. The Bible describes wine as a gift from God that can make life more enjoyable. Read, Psalm 104:15. Why are you shying away from what the Bible encourages? I don't see alcohol in Psalm 104:15.Are there not wine without alcohol?Medical science even says that wine is good for the heart. |

Rilwayne001: Luke 7:33–44, Jesus said, “For John the Baptist has come eating no bread and drinking no wine, and you say, ‘He has a demon.’ The Son of Man has come eating and drinking, and you say, ‘Look at him! A glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’”
Emphasis added by a Christian site: In verse 33 Jesus is making a contrast between John the Baptist’s “drinking no wine” and His own practice. Jesus goes on to say the religious leaders accused Him (falsely) of being a drunkard. Jesus was never a drunkard, any more than He was a glutton. He lived a completely sinless life (1 Peter 2:22); however, Luke 7 strongly suggests that Jesus did indeed partake of alcoholic wine. If indeed he drank wine, was it stated explicitly that it was alcoholic wine. |

Rilwayne001: Jesus drank alcohol according to the Bible.
Generally, Jews are prohibited from eating pig in the OT, and Jesus was a jew too. Paul saw nothing wrong in eating it and so Christians are following his view.
He didn't do it occasionally according to the Bible. He did it once I think, which really don't hold any significance.
Sorry, we don't really follow Jesus, we follow the Prophet. Although there are parts of his teachings and ways that we follow, but not all. Basically because his message was specifically for the Israelites and not for all. For example we are told he drank alcohol in the Bible, do you drink? We are told he addressed his mother in some sort of disrespectful manner, do you do that?
Show where He drank alcohol, don't just write. Where did Jesus address His mother disrespectfully?Show scriptures please. FriendNG,a fellow muslim says here that muslims don't follow Jesus,so why are you still arguing otherewise. Whoever doesn't follow Jesus does not follow the One that sent Him anyway. |

FriendNG: There is nothing in the Qur’aan that suggests that a man is allowed to bite his wife.
1 – The Qur’aan enjoins good treatment of one's wife: she is to be honoured and treated kindly, even when one no longer feels love in one's heart towards her. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): “and live with them honourably. If you dislike them, it may be that you dislike a thing and Allaah brings through it a great deal of good” [al-Nisa’ 4:19]
2 – The Qur’aan explains that women have rights over their husbands, just as their husbands have rights over them. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“And they (women) have rights (over their husbands as regards living expenses) similar (to those of their husbands) over them (as regards obedience and respect) to what is reasonable, but men have a degree (of responsibility) over them. And Allaah is All- Mighty, All-Wise” [al-Baqarah 2:228]
This verse indicates that the man has additional rights, commensurate with his role as protector and maintainer and his responsibility of spending (on his wife) etc.
3 – The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) enjoined kind treatment and honouring of one’s wife, and he described the best of people as those who are best to their wives. He said: “The best of you are those who are the best to their wives, and I am the best of you to my wives.” Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 3895; Ibn Maajah, 1977; classed as saheeh by al- Albaani in Saheeh al-Tirmidhi .
4 – The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) spoke beautiful word concerning kind treatment of one’s wife, stating that when the husband feeds his wife and puts a morsel of food in her mouth, he earns the reward of doing an act of charity. He said, “You never spend anything but you will be rewarded for it, even the morsel of food that you lift to your wife’s mouth.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 6352; Muslim, 1628.
4 – And he (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Fear Allaah with regard to women, for you have taken them as a trust from Allaah and intimacy with them has become permissible to you by the words of Allaah. Your right over them is that they should not allow anyone to sit on your furniture whom you dislike; if they do that then hit them but not in a harsh manner. And their right over you is that you should provide for them and clothe them on a reasonable basis.” Narrated by Muslim, 1218.
What is meant by “they should not allow anyone to sit on your furniture whom you dislike” is that they should not allow anyone whom you dislike to enter your houses, whether the person disliked is a man or a woman, or any of the woman’s mahrams [close relatives to whom marriage is forbidden]. The prohibition includes all of them. From the words of al-Nawawi.
The hadeeth may be understood as meaning that a man has the right to hit his wife, in a manner that is not harsh and does not cause injury if if there is a reason for that, such as her going against his wishes or disobeying him.
This is like the verse in which Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): “As to those women on whose part you see ill‑conduct, admonish them (first), (next) refuse to share their beds, (and last) beat them (lightly, if it is useful); but if they return to obedience, seek not against them means (of annoyance). Surely, Allaah is Ever Most High, Most Great” [al-Nisa’ 4:34]
If a woman rebels against her husband and disobeys his commands, then he should follow this method of admonishing her, forsaking her in bed and hitting her. Hitting is subject to the condition that it should not be harsh or cause injury. Al-Hasan al-Basri said: this means that it should not cause pain.
‘Ata’ said: I said to Ibn ‘Abbaas, what is the kind of hitting that is not harsh? He said, Hitting with a siwaak and the like. [A siwaak is a small stick or twig used for cleaning the teeth - Translator]
The purpose behind this is not to hurt or humiliate the woman, rather it is intended to make her realize that she has transgressed against her husband’s rights, and that her husband has the right to set her straight and discipline her.
Don't deceive yourself. it is an article of faith to believe Jesus is a prophet. We are more Christian than the Christian themselves because we follow the teaching of Jesus more than most of u.
The reason is simple: All other prophet were sent for a limited period of time to some certain period. The message of the Bible is meant to be followed by the children of Israel before the coming of the Qur'an.
But Qur'an is meant to be followed 4 ever. Hence HE preserved it. For the past 1400 years it is exactly the same. Keep deceiving yourself.Beat is beat.It is escapist to start talking about beating lightly and using a feather to beat. What happened to speaking to someone to correct the person? Indeed you are more Christian than Christians. You said the message of Jesus was only for His time and for the children of Israel.Which Jesus' message do you follow then since you do not have it(afterall it was only for Israel and for their time)?DON't JUST SHOOT YOURSELF IN THE FOOT HERE. |

FriendNG: First of all that verse is not the one I said it is 4 the period. Am talking on verse you said concerning non Muslim.
Taking about beating, I will advice you to read the verse again. The steps and steps that has been taking before reaching that conclusion and beating doesn't mean you should carry cane and weep your wife. If you want full details of the verse and meaning I can give you.
Qur'an did not say you should not discuss with Christian. It says no compulsion in religion. Did I say you must be a Muslim?
What you don't realize is no Muslim is Muslim if he does not believe in Jesus and all other prophet before him.
Again no Muslim is Muslim if he fails to believe that God is the author of Injeel (The true Bible), and all other books before Qur'an.
Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good instruction, and argue with them in a way that is best. Indeed, your Lord is most knowing of who has strayed from His way, and He is most knowing of who is [rightly] guide Beating is beating! There's no way to sugar-coat it. Muslim do not believe in but believe that He is .......whatever. Believing in Him and believing that He is are not the same thing.DON'T LIVE IN DECEPTION. Everyone who believes in Jesus is IN Jesus. Why couldn't Allah preserve a copy of this'true bible' he denies is not the Christian one?How do you just deny and not able to provide the original? |

FriendNG: Nothing is omitted after his death. If you say divine change before his death it is understandable. But after no.
I will advise you to do research. You misunderstood Quran verses. There are verses specifically revealed in a period of something and it is only applicable during the time, but you people don't border to know that. The Qur'an says let the non Muslim do their religion and you do yours. There is no compulsion in religion. I hear you @bolded.Your own 'revised version' is to say it is applicable during that time.Admonishing men to beat their wives was only during that time abi?I hear you. @second bolded,if truly you follow the advise given, why are you on a thread that talks about the bible? |

FriendNG: We want to see those verses that were eliminated during compilation. I believe the non Muslim both Arab and none arabs are alive during the compilation period. They should help us with the old testament of the Quran.
From the day Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) handed this Qur'an not an alphabet has been change. Change by God through the prophet is another case but my argument is another simple. From the day Prophet peace be upon him died to dis tym. You should provide a single alterated alphabet not even a verse talkless of Chapter. Like i said,do your research.I'm not talking about the quran changing after it was composed. It was composed after Muhammed died and there were parts that were eventually omitted. The content is another question altogether. It encourages the man to beat his wife, muslims to attack non-muslims etc.You don't need to revise that,do you? |

mu2sa2: Why bring Quran in where a pastor is talking manipulations of the bible?Muslims believe the Quran is the exact Word of God, so no one has the liberty to change even an alphabet in the Quran. That's why there will never be a revised or new or standard or king's version of the Quran. Do your reasearch well. There were parts of the Quran that were not included in the final compilation of the Quran.Whether revised version or not,it has its own drawbacks.Talking about the contents is for another day. |
