Liberian officials fear Ebola could soon spread through the capital's largest slum after residents raided a quarantine center for suspected patients and took items including bloody sheets and mattresses.

The violence in the West Point slum occurred late Saturday and was led by residents angry that patients were brought to the holding center from other parts of Monrovia, Tolbert Nyenswah, assistant health minister, said Sunday.

Up to 30 patients were staying at the center and many of them fled at the time of the raid, said Nyenswah. Once they are located they will be transferred to the Ebola center at Monrovia's largest hospital, he said.

West Point residents went on a "looting spree," stealing items from the clinic that were likely infected, said a senior police official, who insisted on anonymity because he was not authorized to brief the press. The residents took medical equipment and mattresses and sheets that had bloodstains, he said. Ebola is spread through bodily fluids including blood, vomit, feces and sweat.

"All between the houses you could see people fleeing with items looted from the patients," the official said, adding that he now feared "the whole of West Point will be infected."

Some of the looted items were visibly stained with blood, vomit and excrement, said Richard Kieh, who lives in the area.

The incident creates a new challenge for Liberian health officials who were already struggling to contain the outbreak.

Liberian police restored order to the West Point neighborhood Sunday. Sitting on land between the Montserrado River and the Atlantic Ocean, West Point is home to at least 50,000 people, according to a 2012 survey.

Keep feeding him tea with no sugar whatsoever while still trying out other alternatives. Go for less sugary foods like Irish potato, fish, pap, plantain and milk - plenty good milk.

You also need to be very patient as it will take time and energy in trying all this. All the best.

I would say it is not too late

always ensure he is with you whenever you are eating

give him one or too spoon of your food

and gradually he will come to appreciate the taste


he is getting used to sugar if i might say even if you don't add it

to his tea, most beverages already has a lot of sugar in it

so the key word is patience and perseverance

always ensure you give him out of your meals

and for now please avoid giving him spicy (pepper) as this might discourage him.

debbie: I can see some human beings are too ashamed to accept the truth even when it is facing them.This thread is all about the rot and dirtiness in major parts of lagos state.It is an ignorant fellow that will see all these pictures and still doubt.W ho are you defending? fashola as i said and will always say it has done little or nothing for the majority of the citizens.One structure will be erected and will be repaired over and over again,while some places have not been touched.The last time i checked his tenure will end before May 2015.....Dont be sentimental and fight over nothing.When we see the pictures of other state,we will still condemn it and speak out.
So i urge all these political bigots to keep quite and face the shame and failure.
Back to the topic.if you know kosofe bus stop going to mile12 where those keke people load,you will surely cry for that road....yet they are taxed daily and on every loading they do.....please dont just come here and talk rubbish if you have not been to that road at least today.
Secondly the major street called OLADELE where you have APOSTOLIC GRAMMAR SCHOOL,WITH THE KOSOFE SENIOR AND JUNIOR SCHOOLS all along this stretch of road,you will understand that the road is worst than the one leading to hell.One will see some nursery kids passing through the gutters and fighting their way with okada,because the road is just toooo bad and whenever it rains your car will cry out.

egift: APC is a breath of fresh air to the corrupt ridden PDP that has spent 15 years in making Nigeria a giant crawling on it stomach. APC is a viable alternative to PDP. Never in this democratic dispensation have we ever had an alternative that defeat the monster called PDP.

By voting in APC and voting out PDP, Nigerians will achieve 4 things in our Political Space:
1. That the Masses are the Boss. While our politicians are the servants.
2. It will mean the APC will not repeat the callous and nonchalant leadership dispositions that PDP have been dishing out for the last 15 years.
3. PDP will have the opportunity to go back to the drawing board to prioritize what is paramount to them (protect criminals or serve the masses).
4. And since PDP know how to steal, they will better police the FG under APC by exposing any imaginable malpractice even before Nigerians can find out.

So any Patriotic Nigerian will see that it is for the best interest of Nigeria to vote out PDP and elect APC come 2015. This nation will triumph again.
