PoliticsWhat The Average Nigerians Really Want. By Timothy Didam Bakut by Timbaks(op): 12:42pm On Sep 16, 2016
I don't think Nigerians want so much, they just want some little basic things from their government like every other common man expects from his/her government else where around the world. I have observed that Nigerians basically agree on a number of things which are very important to note: We don't believe a lazy person should sit, do nothing and still have enough to eat and drink. We do not believe that government should solve all of our problems, rather some of our basic needs. We seem to all agree that the major role of government is to provide the necessary conditions for us to thrive; carry out our businesses, look after our families and live our lives with little to worry about. It is these things which I believe every citizen of our great country worries about. We worry about the rising cost of health care, cost of food items, education of our children and transport - be it the cost of fuel or the fares we pay to board vehicles.
We all have universal needs like every other humans and all we want to see much more than the promises we hear, that things are going to get better. We want to see with our own eyes that our lack of jobs wouldn't transcend to the malnutrition of our children, we want to see that our children get the best of education and even proceed to higher institutions of learning even when we cannot afford to pay for it. We need to see that these jobs are accessible no matter how modest it pays, we also want to see a great closure in the gap between the haves and haves-not.
We are a people with a lot of hope and expectation, we are a people with a lot of patience and beliefs. We hate to see our beliefs drive us apart rather than bring us together. We hate the fact that corrupt people are allowed to walk the streets to the extent that titles are conferred on them while the honest men and women who work tirelessly for the growth of our country are either ignored or sabotaged in the name of political correctness. Our citizens crave for harmony and equitable distribution of our resources. We hate to see tax-payers money wasted on futile ventures.
The common Nigerians within their hearts and minds still believe that the country is not beyond redemption and all they wish and pray for is a glimmer of hope, hope that assures them that no matter how dark the hour, there is still light at the end of the tunnel. These, in my believe are the very things Nigerians crave for not excuses, not false hopes, not and name calling and blame trading, not lavish economic analysis and definitions, not the capture or humiliation of politicians and their cohorts when we know they will still walk freely on the streets tomorrow. We want to see our hopes and dreams come alive by the goodwill and actions of our leaders. We want to see rather than hear about the amounts(in dollars) been recovered and how they better out lives. We want to be able to feel safe but not on empty stomachs. We want to be able to look at our young ones and say we know that tomorrow will certainly be better than today. We believe that the bond that binds us together is a lot stronger than what drives us apart. We hope and pray that our leaders will hear us, pay attention to us and also see things as we do even if it's for a fraction of a minute because what we experience, encounter and live through daily can only be understood by those who see these things with our eyes. We hope and pray that our leaders succeed because we want much more than failures, we want much more than political achievements, we want much more than international acceptance and recognition, we want much more than punishments meted out to former leaders and those in government. We want a reflection of every action taken by our leaders in our kitchen, our sitting rooms and most importantly we need their actions to reflect in our stomachs because only when we are alive shall we hope for a better Nigeria of our dreams. May God help us to see the actions of our leaders in our pockets, stomachs, kitchen and houses. Amen.

Princedapace:
thanks bro and also where we are today in the telecom industry is as a result of MTN
Nope buddy it is as a result of Nigeria's policy cos they wouldn't be here in the first place if we did not allow them. So yes, op has a point but to call a spade by its name, MTN flaut an order and they should be punished even though I believe in tampering justice with mercy. But so we all know, they have failed to abide by the law period!!! They called this upon themselves.

PoliticsThe Nigerian Youths : Leaders Or Ladders? by Timbaks(op): 6:38pm On Oct 07, 2015
THE NIGERIAN YOUTHS: LEADERS OR LADDERS?
By Timothy Didam Bakut

Recently, I took an analytical throw back down memory lane at the events and advents of power and its crisis in Nigeria and it wasn't a jolly experience for me I must confess. Hence, it is with heart felt dismay that I have decided to put down this words to the chagrin of my general constituency - The Nigerian Youth. To be very honest, it was a really pathetic retrospective experience for me as I found out that our leaders are taking us for a very long ride in today's Nigeria.

The truth is that the youths in today's Nigeria have failed to travel back through the annals of history partly due to laziness or a passionless sense of complacency. To that effect, our elites and political leaders have chosen to reduce our roles, from " The Leaders of Tomorrow and The Modern day Nigeria to their Ladders for Clinching to Political Power and changing each other from their Respective Positions"

In fact, when one challenges today's youth to wake up and be alive to his/her responsibilities they tell you that the youths have failed or that they lack the requisite experiences to lead in a modern day Nigeria. Now that is what find so pathetic. Where and how would they amass the experience if they are not incorporated into the affairs of the country? That the youths in Nigeria have gradually accepted the background roles of spectators, when their counterparts across the world have since assumed the roles of leadership and are partaking in governance and policies that shape their various countries is really saddening. The question is when will the time be right for us to assume our rightful place? When these old and recycled elites and political leaders have become extinct or weak and too tired to function again?

In the course of my backward review at the leadership roles played by the Nigerian youths in the past, I found out that it is the same youths that emerged in the 70s that we still depend on in this millenium, what a shame! A rundown of their ages will reveal to us that we have really been on a sabatical leave in the land of no where for too long.

Today, President Muhammadu Buhari at 72, is our president and he was head of state some 30 years ago at the age of 42. Senator David Mark was the Miltary governor of Niger state in 1984 at 36 and subsequently a minister of communications in 1987 at 39, is still a senator in todays Nigeria. Audu Ogbeh, who was minister of Communications at 32 is still due to be screened for minister over 30 years later. The list is endless when you consider the past military heads of states like the Gowons, Obasanjo, IBB etc. and their cabinets.

Generally, virtually all the leaders we have had in the past were at maximum, in their forties but the same people have reduced our youths to their ladders for ascension to power today. When will the Nigerian youths arise and shine their lights for the emancipation of our country from the shackles of these gerontocrats? Freedom is never given freely, one must bargain for what he wants.

It is obvious that we voted a government into power but failed to bargain for positions for ourselves into the the government to help in driving home the policies that are friendly for salvaging the youths from the arms of poverty and unemployment. How long shall we continue to wallow in the shadows of ourselves while others decide what is right for us? I think the time is ripe for us to assume full responsibilities and participate in the governance of our dear and beloved Nigeria.

May God continue to protect and help us!
PoliticsRe: Jonathan Already Ordered All MDAs To Operate Single TSA in January by Timbaks(m): 10:42am On Aug 10, 2015
Well I know that GEJ paid PMB a visit on thursday, he probably reminded him the need to enforce his earlier pronouncement which, may be, due to the rigours of the last election he(Jonathan) never really had time to pursue.

So in the end, we may all be saying the same thing with different pitch. Government is a continous process and if there could just be a little cooperation between the past and present goverments am pretty sure a lot will be achieved!

God Bless GEJ, God bless PMB and may God continue to bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria!

OP, I would agree with you if you say the books in the bible are incomplete but the words in the bible are as real as the blood flowing in your veins. If anyone believed Darwin's claims then I guess the name of the first man would also have been provided by his claim.

Afterall, people like L.S.B Leaky and others came up with differing postulations as to the origin of man but so far which is the most accurate and precise up till date if not the biblical version!

Descartes in KEY PHILOSOPHICAL WRITINGS, claimed that there exists a real distinction between the mind and the body known as "cartesian dualism" he also aserted that God placed the idea of himself in us just as the mark of the craftsman is stamped in his work and the reason is along the line that 'I am not perfect (there is more perfection in knowledged than in doubt and since I doubt many matters I am not a perfect being) yet I have in me the idea of supreme perfection(I.e the idea of supreme perfect being- God)'

So if OP believes that God exists and yet doubts his word hasn't he just proved to be who we all are, imperfect beings who believe there's more perfection in knowledge than in doubt? Miracles would then be termed as what? Hoax, scams or real?

May God help us all!
